Dad!Christian Cage x Daughter!OC

Author’s note: I switch between referring to Kenny as his ring name or his real name(Tyson) or Ty. I also refer to Christian as his real name in this fic. Also, this is not going to match things going on in AEW.

Emily was born November 30, 1998. She was born on her dad’s 25th birthday. She doesn’t know who her mom is though because after she was born, her mom decided she wanted absolutely nothing to do with her or Christian. Of course Emily knows her dad’s real name now. She’s 23, she knows his name is William Jason Reso but he goes by Jay. She also knows that everyone expects her ring name to be Emily Cage but once she started wrestling for WWE, she made the decision to use her real name, Emily Reso. She also knew that if she used her real name, Vince couldn’t get the rights to it because it’s her legal name. However, when she makes the move to AEW so she can team with her dad, she changed her ring name to Emily Cage to make sure everyone knows who her dad is.

The only problem…people started comparing her to him immediately. She hates that and so does Christian. She called her godfather, Adam Copeland(better known as the Rated R Superstar Edge) and was crying because of all the comparisons to her father. Edge tried to get her to calm down and when he couldn’t, he called Christian and told him what was going on. Edge and Christian got Emily calmed down after about 2 hours of her crying one day. The only comment that really bothered Christian was when someone online said “Emily is just gonna follow in Christian’s footsteps and be fragile and have a big history of concussions”. Another thing that people online bothered her about, was the fact that she is bisexual. There were so many people that felt Emily shouldn’t be in wrestling because of her sexuality. And truthfully, it was a lot of men saying that. She didn’t let that part get to her though because there is always gonna be people that don’t like her because of her sexuality. She just simply would ignore them or respond with this, “My sexuality isn’t your choice😘”.

So, when Emily first came to AEW, she already knew Tony Khan because she had met him in 2014 when her dad met him. Tony introduced her to Kenny and the Young Bucks because she grew up with Cody in her life and obviously she knew Chris Jericho. Everyone, literally everyone noticed how Emily got shy around Kenny. Christian thought it was hilarious and would constantly tease her about it.

Kenny however didn’t notice that she got shy around him because honestly, he got shy around Emily too. When Matt and Nick picked up on that, they never let him live that down. Kenny was in the middle of a feud with Emily’s dad so he wasn’t gonna ask her out because she’s always ringside for him. His plans change though when Matt walks up to him and says, “For the love of God, Tyson. Just ask her out. You keep staring at her and it’s getting a little weird”. That was when he made the decision to ask Emily to go on a date with him. Of course, he asked Christian if it was okay first. “Hey Jay..can I ask you something?”, he said walking over to Christian. “If you’re about to ask me if you can date my daughter, go ahead and ask her. I’m tired of watching the two of you stare at each other from across the room”, Christian said making Kenny turn a little red. After that conversation, he went and asked Emily out, who obviously said yes. They decided to take their relationship slow and everything was going great until Kenny kicked Christian in the head pretty hard while they were in a match. Emily was mad. He knew Christian’s concussion history and still kicked him harder than he should have. Christian did end up winning but Emily wouldn’t talk to Kenny no matter how many times Christian told her he was okay.

That was one thing she made sure didn’t change. She always put her relationship with her dad before any boyfriend. Tyson understood that and he understood why she was upset but that didn’t stop him from trying to make things right. He went by Emily’s hotel room that night because he wanted to make things right. Tyson knocked on the door and waited for her to answer. Emily answered the door and immediately hugged him, “I’m sorry for overreacting like I did..it’s just for the longest all I’ve known is being worried about him with his concussion history..”. “Hey, I understand. You have every right to be upset with me. But I was wondering if you’d like to put being upset with me on hold to go for a ride around town?”, he replied. Emily responded by nodding her head because she hadn’t been to Chicago, Illinois since the last show Christian did there before he retired.

They got back to the hotel around 2 in the morning after they drove around town and walked on the beach for a few hours. “Hey Ty..do you wanna stay here with me tonight? I normally stay in a room close to my dad’s but his room is two floors above this one and I don’t feel safe staying by myself..”, Emily said a little embarrassed since she’s 23 and still scared to stay in hotels by herself. Kenny nodded and laid down with her and held her close to him. He was wearing sweatpants and a redcon T-shirt so he wasn’t really worried about being uncomfortable. Emily had been wearing leggings and a bi pride t-shirt so she was comfortable when they laid down.

The next morning, Kenny woke up before Emily and got up carefully not to wake her up and went to his hotel room to shower and get ready for the day. She was still asleep whenever he got back to her room and it was like 3 hours until they had to be at the arena so he woke her up gently so she could go get ready. She wouldn’t be wrestling tonight but she was gonna be ringside for her dad and still had to be ready for the show when she got there.

After she got up and showered then got dressed in her hotel room bathroom, she let her hair partly air dry while she did her makeup. She finished her makeup and used her hair dryer to finish drying her hair then used her curling iron to curl it. She was wearing black ripped skinny jeans, tall black boots, a Virtue Christian Cage shirt, and a black leather jacket. When she walked out of the bathroom, Kenny’s jaw dropped. “You look amazing”, Kenny said as he hugged her gently. “And you look absolutely ridiculous. What is it with these outfit choices? Is someone forcing you to dress like this?”, Emily replied, laughing a little as she said it.

During the show, someone made an off-hand comment about Emily and Tyson almost lost it. Kenny had to force himself to stay calm about what was said because he’s a heel. The comment really bothered Emily and she tried not to show it. Christian picked up on it and sent her to the back. Emily was really upset about it because she hated not being ringside for her dad. Christian ended up winning his match against Kenny. When they got to the back, they saw that Emily had broken down to Cody about what the person in the crowd said about her. Christian tried to get Cody to let him talk to her but he shook his head know because he almost had her calmed down about it all. The comment was about Emily being Christian’s daughter and that she’s using her dad to make a name for herself. Which isn’t true at all. She was well known by herself as Emily Reso. She hates that people were talking bad about her dad because she started wrestling using the same last name as him. Ultimately she made the decision to switch to the career that she had her doctorate degree in. Sports Medicine. Tony Khan and the EVPs(Kenny included) talked her into working on AEW’s sports medicine team. She wasn’t gonna stop wrestling completely because AEW would allow her to wrestle on the independent scene and that’s what she preferred.

Emily and Kenny went back to the hotel after the show instead of going out with everyone. They spent the night with Emily in Kenny’s arms while he played video games. She fell asleep halfway through the first game and Kenny just held her like that and whispered loving words to her while he played his video games.

Kenny took all of Emily’s makeup off of her face so her skin wouldn’t break out from it. They had both already changed into comfortable clothes before Kenny started playing video games so that wasn’t a problem. He turned his game off and laid beside Emily holding her in his arms with her head on his chest. He didn’t know she had woken up a few minutes after he laid back down with her so he didn’t know she heard him talking to her when he said “I love you”. The last thing he expected to hear her say right then was “I love you too”. Kenny kissed the top of Emily’s head and held her a little closer to him before they both fell asleep.
