Todos los años se celebra en la plaza del ayuntamiento su tradicional concentración de coches clásicos.

Con la llegada del ferrocarril en 1893, y gracias también por su proximidad a Bilbao y Algorta, la villa atrajo hacia sus playas a una nueva clase social, que comenzó a asentarse en ella provisionalmente, en periodos vacacionales. Comenzó así la reconversión de Plentzia en villa turística, carácter que todavía mantiene intacto en nuestros días gracias a la calidad de su playa, una de las principales del litoral vasco, y de sus aguas. La importancia del pueblo de Plentzia y su fuerte conexión con el mar se remonta siglos atrás dado que siempre ha estado ligada a la mar.
