Đồng thời, không gian nuôi dưỡng cũng cần sạch sẽ, không chứa các vật sắc nhọn và được làm sạch thường xuyên. Không gian sống ảnh hưởng rất lớn tới tính cách và sức khỏe của chú chó. Vì thế, hãy lưu ý thật kỹ trong việc lựa chọn không gian sinh sống cho chú chó nhé.
Chế độ ăn uống khoa học, hợp lý
Chó Maltese cần có một chế độ ăn uống khoa học, hợp lý tùy theo độ tuổi. Với từng lứa tuổi của chú chó, bạn cần thực hiện các chế độ ăn khác nhau cho chúng:
Khi chó Malta dưới 2 tháng tuổi: nên cho ăn các thức ăn cho chó mềm, đồ lỏng như cháo thịt băm, thịt gà xét nhỏ hoặc thịt bò. Đồng thời, kết hợp với việc uống sữa theo bữa trong ngày.
Khi chó con đang thời kỳ phát triển: nên cho chúng ăn cơm trộn với thịt và rau xanh. Đồng thời, bạn cũng nên cho Maltese ăn các loại hạt cho chó để cung cấp đủ dưỡng chất cần thiết. Qua đó giúp lông của chúng mượt và mềm hơn. Thi thoảng, bạn cũng có thể bổ sung trái cây vào thực đơn của chú chó nhé.
Giai đoạn trưởng thành: khi chú chó Maltese đã lớn, bạn cũng không cần thay đổi quá nhiều thực đơn so với giai đoạn chúng đang trưởng thành. Tuy nhiên, lúc này, số lượng bữa ăn cần được giảm xuống còn khoảng 2 bữa/ngày. Việc giảm bữa ăn sẽ giúp chó Malta tránh được các bệnh về béo phì và các bệnh liên quan tới đường tiêu hóa.
Chó Malta khá kén ăn. Vì thế, bạn nên lưu ý tới sở thích và khẩu vị của chúng. Thông thường, Maltese rất thích các món thịt đỏ, như thịt bò, thịt lớn. Chúng cũng thích ăn thịt gà và pate cho chó. Bên cạnh đó, để cân bằng dinh dưỡng, bạn cũng cần bổ sung các loại rau, hoa quả, trứng gà vào thực đơn của chúng. Điều này sẽ giúp bổ sung đầy đủ dưỡng chất cần thiết, hỗ trợ tiêu hóa.
Những món ăn cần tránh
Đặc biệt, chó Maltese có đường ruột cực kỳ yếu. So với nhiều giống chó khác, đường ruột của Maltese yếu ớt hơn. Vì thế, ngay cả khi chúng đã trưởng thành, bạn cũng cần hạn chế cho chúng ăn xương. Thay vào đó, hãy cho chúng ăn các loại thức ăn nhỏ, dễ tiêu hóa. Tuyệt đối tránh cho ăn xương gà và các loại thức ăn nhiều dầu mỡ, socola… Việc ăn xương có thể dẫn tới xuất huyết dạ dày, cực kỳ nguy hiểm.
Cách chăm sóc bộ lông của chó Malta
Maltese có một bộ lông cực kỳ nổi tiếng. Do được sinh ra tại khu vực Địa Trung Hải với khí hậu lạnh giá nên Maltese cần có bộ lông dày để chịu lạnh. Tuy nhiên, tại Việt Nam, chúng ta có khí hậu nhiệt đới gió mùa và thời tiết nóng bức hơn. Điều này khiến chú chó có thể bị sốc nhiệt. Đặc biệt là vào mùa hè nóng ẩm. Vì thế, bạn cần cắt tỉa lông thường xuyên cho chú chó của mình.
Chăm sóc lông, chải lông thường xuyên cũng giúp lông của Maltese khỏe hơn, dày hơn và sạch sẽ nhất. Ngoài ra, bạn cũng cần thường xuyên tắm cho chú chó của mình. Vào mùa hè, bạn có thể tắm 1 tuần từ 1 – 2 lần. Do chó Malta có cơ địa khá đặc biệt nên bạn cần sử dụng các loại sữa tắm dành riêng cho chó. Sau khi tắm xong, hãy sấy khô lông cho chú chó, tránh tình trạng lông ẩm, khiến chú chó bị cảm. Tuy nhiên, hãy lựa chọn mức sấy phù hợp để tránh tình trạng cháy lông.

actually I also wanna talk about the part where Percy convinces Bob to kill Hyperion because even though Percy never says anything outright sinister, the way he handles the entire situation with such cool ease, playing on Bob’s emotions... its so insane???
Because Annabeth’s reaction to the three of them encountering Hyperion reforming is: “oh this is bad we need to get out of here” She knows if Bob remembers himself, that it's not going to play out well for Percy and her. She also thinks about how they're being pursued and don't have a lot of time. Her solution to the problem, seemingly, is to leave.
But Percy's solution is to work the situation to his advantage. He re-affirms Bob's loyalty to him:
Percy then re-establishes Bob's moral code: "Some monsters are good. Some are bad. This Titan is bad. He tried to kill me and a lot of people. He's not good like you are."
And it ends with Percy leaving the choice of whatever to do with Hyperion to Bob but of course, is it really what Bob chose to do? Bob decides to kill Hyperion. It's not what he may have done, if Percy hadn't intervened. But it's exactly what Percy was oh-so-sweetly leading Bob to do.
And listen, I'm not claiming that it was exactly morally bankrupt of Percy to take advantage of a once-evil titan who could get him and his girlfriend through hell in one piece. Percy, Annabeth, they manipulate monsters and enemies all the time. Annabeth ended the previous book with manipulating Arachne into weaving her own web. So it's not exactly like she's against using manipulative tactics, in theory.
But Bob, at this point, is not just some monster. He is so painfully sincere in his belief in Percy and their friendship, so yes, it does feel a bit sinister whenever Percy uses Bob... and he really uses Bob.
And I think what makes the scene so unsettling, it isn't just that Percy manipulated Bob, its how well Percy manipulated him. He manipulates Bob so well that Percy doesn't even have to kill Hyperion... because Bob does it for him. He manipulates Bob so well, that Annabeth couldn't tell if Percy was purposefully trying to manipulate the situation. (Newsflash, he most definitely was). Like holy shit.

Today, we want to take a moment to appreciate one of our black oystercatchers who celebrated her 30th bird-day this year!
Born in 1993 on Oregon's rugged coast, this black oystercatcher triumphed over adversity. She was rescued at four days old with a wounded wing. Deemed non-releasable due to her young age and lack of survival skills, she embarked on a unique journey, spending time in Florida and Alaska before finding her permanent home with us 21 years ago.
This oystercatcher is quite the character— known for her love of clams and preference for personal space. We’ve enjoyed getting to know her over the years. Come check her out in the Sandy Shore & Aviary exhibit and witness her clam-cracking craftsmanship firsthand.
