lmao same i used to be so invested in jikook and now they kind of lost their spark to me or sth (bts in general tbh) .. i used to so sure they're an item but now i'm so okay with just thinking that they can also be friends who fuck sometimes 👀😜 #jikookflopera
no but seriously , maybe bc i'm getting older and maturing too so things like shipping are starting to make me cringe
Yeah same, I also thought that maybe it's an age thing. It's not that my interests have changed, but the energy I put into stuff is usually changing, and right now I really don't have the time or the energy to be focusing on things that are absurd to me like, oh JK's eyebrow twitched a little when he did this, and it didn't twitch when he did the same with Jimin wow they're so comfortable with each other. I think the last drop on the glass was people discussing how he sounded when he said "he's mine" about Taehyung. It has to stop. Then I was guilty of the same behavior with the perilla leaf thing.
I feel like lately everything jikook is about the overanalyzing and the deciphering of barely-there differences between their interactions and everyone else's, and I just don't care about stuff like that. I've never cared, but before it wasn't like this, before nobody had to focus on how he dropped two octaves or how he sighed because the differences were clear as a day. Now, they aren't, they haven't been for a while, but that's all people talk about so I got too tired of it. I just don't have the patience for things like that.
I also think that, if after five years, I'm overthinking stuff like the perilla leaf and how that doesn't fit AT ALL with the type of boyfriend JK is to Jimin, then that's just it. I geniunely don't like when people are too confusing for me, it seriously kills the mood. I've never been after the mystery of anything, I'm comfortable with coherence and transparency. I don't even try that hard to understand people in real life, and again, if after five years I'm still trying hard to understand how Jungkook's words correlate with his actions (when it comes to Jimin), then I will naturally let go. I really am not one to spend a lot of energy on people that won't make themselves clear or gray situations, and yet I have already spent a lifetime of energy trying to understand some things regarding jikook. I frankly don't want to care about it anymore.

Aeon - JiKook
Tumblr media
Word Count: 9.5k words Rating: PG-13 Summary: The Rat was the first in Buddha’s race, which by timeless standards should mean that your family will be much more looked up to than they actually are. It's a damn race after all, the winner gets the chicken dinner, right? Wrong.  Genre: Fluff-ish? Also, Seokjin is a diva Note: I’m not really back from Hiatus, that’s important to say. The exchange was fucking amazing and I need time to find myself at home again, but this thing has been sitting on my computer for a year now and I felt inspired, so I gave it life. The ending is not really edited because I cringed at myself. It’s been in my head for a while, hope you guys will like it♥
Tumblr media
Your frustration with the day began right in the entrance to your university. You could already feel the signs of the power struggle in the air, along with the countless oblivious students walking right through it as they go about their day. You didn't know if you were lucky for being aware, feeling the signs and treading your steps. Those who belonged to the cycle of the Zodiac were pretty rare, and you were in the bottom of that food chain.
As the ancient story goes, Buddha wanted to hold a race for his departure from Earth. It's ridiculous that this is the beginning of the biggest pain in your life in the present. He invited 12 animals to compete in said race, and they were given one year in the cycle by the order of their arrival.
The Rat was the first, which by timeless standards should mean that your family will be much more looked up to than they actually are. It's a damn race after all, the winner gets the chicken dinner, right? Nah. The Rat was invited by the Cat but didn't wake him up in the morning of the race. It got too excited about being the smallest animal to be invited into such a big event, and completely forgot about his careless friend. That already marked you as a traitor by relations.
If that's not enough bad juju by itself, the Rat was aware of the shortness of his feet and probability in winning the race, so he took advantage of the Ox's gullible personality and rode on his head. A simple jump from his head to the finish line brought the Rat his sweet victory and his successors' despair.
Coming first means shit if all of this is considered.
That's why most people has no idea why some avoid you like a plague. You weren't sure how they'll react knowing this avoidance comes from the ancient sins of one Rat.
Through the cycles, the other animals competed over who hates the Rat decedents most, though you'd think they'd never want to race again after the first time. The Cat was a prominent contester, but the cats in your life didn't treat you badly. Jooheon gave you the same dimpled grin he offers every living being, and even some florals. Hoseok sent you his notes when you were down with the flu for a month without you even having to ask.
For a reason not quite known to you, your enemy during this cycle was the Horse. Most potently shown in your relations to one Park Jimin. He's a silver Horse, which is rare within their kind and higher-ranked. There were other Horses in your university but they reserved their behavior to disturbed looks and nothing more, which didn't really bother you.
It's not that Park Jimin was evil to you or anything, you've never seen him anything but kind to anyone he interacts with. The problem came from the one "protecting" him from you. Since he's a Horse you never tried to actively speak to him but that damn dog, Jeon Jungkook, detested your presence even if you were simply minding your own business on the other side of the room. Even Kim Taehyung stood between you a few times, and he's a Dragon – usually flashy personalities and not that much of a need to handle the animal politics. He was accepting of you if Jimin wasn't in the room though, so you figured it was Jungkook moving him as a piece to have something else protecting poor little Jimin from you.
As always, both pairs of eyes immediately set on you as you walked through the door, while Jimin kept chatting with Hoseok as if he didn't feel the mood shift. Taehyung offered you a small smile, but turned back to the conversation without much else. Jungkook gave you nothing but daggers. The conversation they took part in was loud as they always were, and per usual getting louder when Seokjin walked into the room, exchanging high-fives with the other four like a weird fucking ceremony before he came to sit with you.
Somehow Seokjin, the Snake that rode on the Horse's leg and pushed the Horse to the seventh animal in line, wasn't too dangerous to be around Jimin.
"What's up, loser?" Seokjin flopped down next to you, tossing a small, peach-flavored milk carton onto your lap.
You eyed the milk. "I really don’t get why I'm the only one turning them hostile when I walk into a room."
"You should try being this handsome," he replied with a smirk, placing his thumb and index finger in a V sign at this chin. You narrowed your eyes at him, resisting the urge to smack his hand right into his face.
Your argument was stopped short with the teacher walking in with a shit-eating grin. This poetry class was supposed to be easy, but as you soon learned looks can be deceiving. The teacher seemed to have a special, warm place in his heart for keeping his students at the edge of their seats at terrible peril. He didn't even try hiding how much he enjoyed making his poor students suffer.
And what greater suffering he could bring than a partnered poem analysis paper, already troublesome by itself before he added in the fact he chose the pairs instead of giving students that liberty. That asshole knew how anti-social you were, and the groans coming from the collective of students just made him smile wider.
"Why can't we choose though?" Jungkook complained, his arm wrapped around Jimin's chair. It was easy to guess who his preferred partner would be, and a short laugh from the professor showed he knew the answer.
"Because I paired the weak with the strong," The professor waved his papers at Jungkook, "To give some of you imagination-less people a standing chance to pass my class. Some of you, Jungkook, are in the gray zone.
The chuckles made Jungkook turn sharply back, his eyes locking with yours for a split second though you never made a sound.
"I hope you get Jungkook," Seokjin whispered to you, opening the abandoned milk carton and handing it back to you. "He will probably kill you if he spends too much time with you."
"Since when are fucking Dogs my enemies?"
Just as the words left your mouth ended, your name was called. The professor paused for a second that made you hold your breath – he wouldn't be as evil as to pair you with Jungkook, right? The answer, to your great despair, was worse. The name called after yours was Park Jimin.
"What the fuck?" Jungkook exclaimed, making Jimin jump a little at his side.
The professor looked at Jungkook like he just won the lottery. His eyes were twinkling, he could barely hold himself together from how giddy he was. The pairing in itself was logical, Jimin's weak points fit your strong points and vice versa, but it was clear as day from the mere atmosphere in the room that working together wasn't an option. The professor turned to look at Jimin, "Do you have a problem with this?"
"No," Jimin answered simply, making Jungkook's head snap to him.
The professor turned to you, and before he could open his mouth again you shook your head. You knew by instinct that if you'll ask to switch partners he'd probably give you Jungkook, and at least Jimin was able to be civil. It could only be worse for you.
"Great, so it's decided," The professor determined before going forth with his list. Their group started to exchange whispers right under the professor's nose, but he was in too good spirits to call them out for it. Their small, frantic voices seemed to be music to his ears.
"Wow, I jinxed you didn't I," Seokjin gasped but didn't sound sorry in the least. "Jungkook looks like he's about to have a stroke."
You signed, "I bet he's trying to find a way to make me disappear before I get to exchange one word with Jimin."
Your phone vibrated on your thigh, making you slide your headphones off. "Did you text me?"
"No," Seokjin replied with a bored voice. You hit pause on the video you were watching, though you really wanted to know if the McDonalds worker noticed the twins switching on him as he turned away for a second. Another vibration came though before you pressed the unknown number.
hey its jimin 03:23
You turned to Seokjin with wide eyes, which he didn't notice for a few moments. Words failed you so you made a small sound that turned his attention away from his phone. "Ah, did he text you already?" You nodded. "That was fast, I literally just gave him the number. I thought it'd take him longer to fend Jungkook off before texting you."
"Couldn't you warn me?"
"And miss that?" He pointed at your face with a pleased devil-smile. "Never."
You turned back to your phone, wondering why the hell your best friend is so annoying. You could choose better, and somehow this hate-love relationship is what kept you going. At rare times he was actually a good friend, so maybe you saw through the douche to the darling within. Like, deep within.
Hey 03:26
Smooth.
im gonna cut to it my rents r prejudice n doesnt wnt me alone w/u
so is it ql if we do da project in my house? 03:27
Sure. When? 03:27
im sorry. 03:28
His apology made you frown. It didn't come as a surprise to you that his parents wouldn't want their silver son meeting a Rat in their natural habitat. It's almost 2020 and there are still a lot of… opinions on what new ways the Rats found to mislead the other animals. You could offer the library as a neutral spot, but you didn't know if Jimin even knew where it is.
saturday? 6 ish? 7 ish? wn ure comfortable ish? 03:29
You couldn't help but chuckle at the swarming messages. You always saw Jimin texted real fast and half-finished sentences, but being on the receiving end of that was a brand new experience.
6-ish sounds good. Send me your address, I'll be there 03:30
He sent it, and you had no idea where it was. A quick look at the map revealed that he, in fact, lives in the middle of a forest and it shouldn't have surprised you this much. Silver Horses were known to crave the wild, not at all city creatures. That would stand against the fact they moved to Seoul from Busan, but you guessed education was stronger than their will to be free.
"We're meeting on Saturday," You informed Seokjin, who hummed as a distracted response. "Save me some food."
"As if Jimin will let you leave his house without feeding you," Seokjin laid his phone in front of him, finally focusing on you. "You clearly don’t know him."
"His loyal watch-dog makes sure of that," You rolled your eyes. "Did you know he lives in the woods?"
"Of course, I've been to his house before."
"Of course you were."
"You'll like it, it's a really big house, whole wall made of glass like the forest is inside. Also, Jimin's bed is really comfortable. Not that you'll get to try it unless you'll be a good girl."
You contemplated throwing your mouse at him. "We're doing a project and then our lives will go back to being absolutely separate. His parents won't even allow him the option of being near me where they can't control, you think his bed would be good?"
"His bed is good."
Seokjin offered to drive you there, claiming that the road is too complicated for you to navigate though. He listened to your whole rant about how you're great with directions as he fiddled with his keys. In the end he didn't leave you much choice and after seeing how complicated it actually was, you were kind of grateful. The forest really wasn't forgiving for first time arrivers. Seokjin informed you that he also had to have help the first time he visited, so you felt better about yourself.
Seokjin stopped in front of the house, giving you a knowing smile, "Now you're glad you agreed, right?"
"Wow yes thank you," you exhaled in one breathe, sliding out of the car with your bag in hand. "You're the best."
"What else is new?" Seokjin obnoxiously winked right before he drove off. He almost drove right on your foot, but you assumed the swag in the action was worth it for him. Fucking Snakes.
The front door seemed to loom over you, warning you of where you're headed. Each Zodiac made their own aura around their homes, and this one was new to you and quite overwhelming. You never got to measure the Horse aura before since all the Horses steered clear of you, getting it so strongly at once wasn't exactly welcoming. It's a good thing Horses were prideful people, so logically you knew there is no risk in stepping inside.
Keeping that idea in your head, you rang the doorbell, almost cringing at the choir of bird sounds that announced your presence. Of course Horses would have chippering birds as their doorbell. You barely managed not to roll your eyes as the door opened.
"It's you."
Jungkook gave you a bored look, leaning against the door he opened. He looked you up and down, maybe to be intimidating. You found it strangely amusing.
"Jimin is at dance practice."
"Did I get the time wrong?" You quickly pulled out your phone with the intention of checking Jimin's message. "I thought – "
"You didn't," Jungkook cut you off. "He was supposed to be here."
You stared, not sure how to progress from here. Jungkook seemed to be perfectly fine with letting you wait outside until Jimin came back and he was forced to treat you well. You weren't sure what he was going to do, but waiting awkwardly felt terrible.
Jungkook seemed to sense the struggle as he moved aside with a sigh, "Come in, I guess."
"Thank you," You side-stepped him, bending down to take your shoes off before entering farther. Jungkook gave you a quick look, walking to the end of the corridor, where he stopped to wait for you.
You tried to be subtle as you watched his actions, wondering if he really did hate you. With Jimin not being the room he seemed more calm around you, acting more like he just wasn't sure how to act rather than despising you. You knew the rumors about Rats didn't form a good image, and the fact that you're pretty rare is not helping. When people met you for the first time they were sure they already know everything you're about and had no intention to really get to know you as a person, not a zodiac reference.
"You can wait in the living room," Jungkook said the moment you started walking his way. The light coming from the end of hallway already hinted where the glass wall that Seokjin was talking about was, but you didn't quite expect the spectacle that was revealed to you. The last rays of sun filtered through many leaves, throwing calm shadows over the cream color-themed living room. Everything looked so polished and expensive, you could easily see Jimin in this space. You've never seen his parents so they were face-less figures in the image in your head, but they were loving and kind, like their son.
Well, to non-Rats, anyways.
Jungkook watched you, averting his gaze only when you turned to look back. He looked almost bashful as he took a sit on one of the couches, slipping out of his slippers and placing his feet on the edge of the coffee table. He looked less elegant than Jimin, but somehow Jungkook's Dog aura was also present in this space, as if he's a part of it. Thinking back, you've never heard Seokjin going to Jungkook's place or meeting Jungkook's parents. It made you wonder.
You took your seat on the same sofa, but in a safe distance from him. You awkwardly moved your attention to your socks, wondering if you should have chosen more presentable socks than the Line Friends ones you were currently wearing. You glanced at Jungkook to find him checking his phone, a small smile adorning his features. This could be the first time you saw him actually smiling, as you were usually watching their group from behind. It didn't look bad on him, this look. It was no secret that he was handsome, making a perfect visual trio with Jimin and Taehyung. You just never got to see it like other people did.
He glanced your way, finding your attention is on him made both of you embarrassed. You were used to watching people, your status as a Rat made you learn that observing people from a far would keep you safe from getting hurt. You got good at reading people, and Jungkook didn't seem like much of a challenge. He was sitting so comfortably, he must have been a household member, if not living here. Which would probably be a safe bet.
"Are you waiting for Jimin too?"
Jungkook's eyes darted to you and back to his screen. "Sort of."
"Um," You started, not knowing if you should actually ask this. He was obviously listening to you, though he wasn't looking your way. "I was wondering, do you live here?"
That caught him off guard. You could clearly see the Dog in his reaction, his eyes now trained at you with a soft wonder in them. Dogs were people of instincts, not calculating situations like you. You could tell that you were right, but something about his reaction made you feel like you spoke too soon, trying to be friendly with someone who is not really willing. You were somehow intrigued by him, a fact that wasn't surprising as all the Rats you knew were attracted to Dogs.
Jungkook was still looking at you though a few moments passed. Your anxiety wasn't liking that, making you defuse the situation. "None of my business, never mind. Sorry for asking."
Jungkook frowned. You chose to look at your socks again, so you couldn't judge the wheels moving in his head. Before he could settle on a choice of what to do with your question, his phone buzzed. Quick tapping sounds filled the silence before he announced, "He's on his way now."
"Great. You know, you don't have to wait with me if you have other things to do," You offered, wiggling your toes in the fluffy carpet. "I won't move from here."
"Nah, it's fine," he answered in a casual voice, which you've never heard from him before. You chanced looking at him and his eyes were already trained on you, but they weren't hostile. He looked like he was contemplating, and quickly a decision was made, "You're more polite than I thought you'd be."
You blinked in surprise. "What do you mean?"
"I don't know," Jungkook responded truthfully, ignoring another buzzing of his phone in favor of holding your gaze.
You were having trouble processing where this conversation is going, his easy look showing that he didn't quite have a clue either. It just wasn't anxious for him to be in this position. "Well, I'm glad to prove you wrong, I guess."
Even looking at him, you weren't quite certain what was going through his head. A part of you wondered if the attraction between Rats and Dogs was mutual, and having no other presences around made it easier to sense each other's auras. Maybe he was experiencing something new with you as well.
Maybe he reached out to you with that, and you should try as well. "I know the Rat's image is strong, but I'm honestly not a bad person. I have no intention of harming or tricking anyone."
"I figured, otherwise Seokjin wouldn't be so fond of you," Jungkook lifted his legs, folding them beneath him on the couch. "Actually, he asked me to be nice to you."
"Is that why you're trying to have a conversation?" You chuckled, but it stopped soon when you saw the strange look he gave you. Your mind provided a question that you knew you had no time to linger on, but you had to speak to Seokjin about what he told Jungkook.
"Sort of. He said that if I'll actually try not to push you away I'll see you're actually really good, better than him. Just more guarded."
"Seokjin said something nice about me? How uncharacteristic for him."
Jungkook made an amused sound, and you're ashamed to say it felt like a small victory. "He insisted enough for me to pay attention."
You nodded, not sure what else to say. You did make a mental note to thank Seokjin later. He jokes around a lot and it's usually in your expense, but he really does care about you. He must have known how nervous this made you and tried to make it easier. Being the middleman, he knows you and them well enough to be able to bridge temporarily until you could be civil with Jungkook, and maybe even complete this assignment without too much of a fight.
Jungkook looked like he had something else to say, but the soft sound of the opening front door, followed by Jimin announcing that he's home, stopped him. Instead he chose to push to his feet and walk to the hallway.
"You've been nice?" Jimin tapped on Jungkook's chest, a wide smile on his face. His smile never wavered when he looked at you, confidently walking towards you. "Sorry for being late, dance kinda makes me forget about time."
You didn't miss the slight tension that resided in Jungkook's shoulders as Jimin neared you, but he said nothing even when Jimin sat right next to you, dropping his bag at his feet. You've never been this close to him, but just looking at him you knew Jimin would smell amazing – you just didn't know how good it'll be. The scent that came off of him reminded you of the freshness of nature, like he just galloped through the woods like the Horse he is.
It was quite a nice image.
"It's okay," you reassured him, snapping out of your thoughts. "I didn't have to wait long."
Jimin leaned closer, his voice dropping to a whisper, "Was he really nice to you, though?"
You nodded, eyes widening at how close he was. His skin was amazing, his eyes shining at you with pure happiness and amusement. He turned to Jungkook and they looked at each other for a few moments. You didn't know what it meant, but Jungkook seemed to catch on, walking back to the couch just to get his phone back. "I'll be upstairs."
You felt like maybe this decision answered your earlier question, but there is no way to know for sure as Jungkook disappeared up the wide staircase at the far end of the space. His departure left you alone with Jimin, whose attention came back to you.
"Is it okay if we stay here? My room is a mess," Jimin watched your face as you nodded. He seemed content with your answer, pulling the one notebook he used for every subject you shared together. Not that you've been keeping tabs, but yeah, you knew that.
You pulled out your supplies as well, feeling very conscious of the amount of attention you're getting. Maybe that's why people who spoke to Jimin alone were a blushing mess, being around him was like being under a spotlight, with absolutely no judgement attached. It's like he just genuinely enjoyed focusing on you.
"The prof was smart putting us together, I'm pretty bad at poetry," Jimin announced as he flicked through his notebook to find an empty page. "I just don't get hidden meanings and feet and stuff. But you've always been good, I still remember that poem you wrote about the sky."
You blinked at him, taken aback. You wrote remembered the poem was well, it was due in your first class. First year, first semester, before you thought Jimin ever noticed your existence. He seemed amused at the surprise in your face, finally settling on a page and leaning back on the couch. You followed, though a lot less comfortable than him. You decided there's no possible answer to what he told you and instead began pitching ideas for your analysis. You were given a poem that you read five times before meeting up with Seokjin, so you had a pretty good idea what you wanted to focus on. Jimin looked at you with an ever-present smile, drinking in all you had to tell him. He wasn't embarrassed to ask you questions, even if he was asking about the most basic things. You worked hard to not make him feel like it's too basic to be confused about at this point, just to keep him cheerful and excited to learn.
Somehow you felt like he really was learning from you, as minutes ticked by and he used the new information you've given him. It was obviously his weak subject, but he seemed to find your knowledge and merge it with his joy to find a good middle that allowed you to work him like dough. The idea you came up with seemed solid, Jimin adding his own, smaller ideas to give it a better structure. Working with him was easy, you bounced ideas off of each other, Jimin allowed himself to joke around with you, and the atmosphere stayed light. Before you noticed, hours went by and you were sitting more comfortably, Jimin's calm acceptance made you feel almost welcome in his home.
Jimin giggled at one of your ideas as he allowed his notebook to fall into his lap, giving up on doing more work in favor of conversation. "Honestly when you told that prof he was wrong I almost laughed right in his face. I'm closer, so I would've probably gotten kicked out of the class too."
"He said frogs are the symbol of freedom!" You defended yourself, bringing your own notebook to lie against your chest. "I couldn't just let this nonsense go."
"I know you couldn't," Jimin leaned his head against the sofa, eyeing you with a smile. "I noticed you're not shy to say what you wanna."
"You noticed?" You shifted, bringing your legs up between your body and Jimin's, leaning your head the way he did.
Jimin hummed, looking at your legs before returning to you. "Maybe I don't look like it, but I'm pretty observant. And being a Rat, you were interesting to me."
You willed your face not to blush, deeming it too embarrassing. "You wanted to watch the enemy?"
"I wanted to watch the possible friend," Jimin corrected with not a bit of shame. "I don't believe in that Zodiac enemy stuff, it's stupid to judge for something that was done millions of years ago. The fact is you've never been not nice to anyone who didn't deserve it. You're frank and your thoughts are heard, but there's nothing wrong about that. I think you're really funny, and nice, and a good person to be around."
You found no words to reply with, so you simply stared at him. Your lack of response didn't matter to Jimin as he leaned closer, the same amused glitter in his eye. "I'm glad I get to see I'm right."
"Ah," Jungkook's voice came from the stairs, making both of you jump a little farther away from each other. You looked at the newcomer in alarm, expecting him to explode at you for even daring to come so close to Jimin. His eyes were trained on you and he seemed conflicted, but when they moved to Jimin they softened immediately. You noticed Jimin had this kind of effect on him, like he was easily softening Jungkook's rough edges.
"I'm kind of hungry, what are we ordering?" Was his chosen response. Jimin didn't miss a beat in naming a restaurant that you weren’t familiar with. Jungkook slurped and rolled his eyes but didn't argue, which lead you to believe this response was quite popular with Jimin.
"Is there anything you can't eat?" You turned to confirm that Jimin was talking to you, shaking your head as a response. You remembered Seokjin being clear on Jimin liking to feed people, so you weren't really surprised when it came true right before you.
When Jungkook was busy ordering the food, Jimin declared that "study time is over". He turned the TV on and flicked through Netflix, asking for your opinion on which movie to watch. "I'd ask Jungkook but he'd probably say a Marvel movie," Jimin giggled, flicking past another rom-com.
"I like Marvel," you commented.
"I know, Spiderman is your phone background," you snapped your head in his direction just to catch his victorious smile. "Observant, I told you."
"Marvel movies are great, you're not wrong," Jungkook affirmed, throwing himself on Jimin's other side.
"But we can watch something else once in a while," Jimin whined, throwing one of his legs across Jungkook's, who naturally moved his hand to rest on Jimin's thigh, close to his knee. You felt Jimin's eyes on you, which told you he noticed you saw but didn't move Jungkook's hand away. You felt like it was a hint, but the situation made you so embarrassed you refused to think about it.
"How about this?" Jimin paused on a movie starring Ryan Reynolds, which you agreed to immediately. Again, your reaction was not missed by the others. Jimin didn't wait for Jungkook's approval to start the movie, settling against the other as the movie started. When the food arrived Jungkook stood up immediately, throwing the whining Jimin's leg off of him in the process.
"Does our skinship bother you?" Jimin asked immediately when Jungkook was out of earshot.
"Nope."
"Good," Jimin's hand came down twice on yours, a contact you weren't expecting. Jimin giggled at the look on your face, but nothing else could be said as Jungkook came back into the room. The rest of your visit held the same kind of calmness, until Seokjin called you to tell you he's waiting outside, liberating you to think without anyone watching you.
Jimin texted you when you were on the way back, asking you if you're free to meet again soon. Seokjin was telling you a very long story through the entire time you were texting, and you were only half listening. He noticed, but didn't mind much.
"Hey Jin," you lowered your phone, intentionally interrupting him in the middle of a sentence. He stopped with a huff, but didn't complain farther, which gave you the okay to continue. "What did you say to Jungkook? He said you asked him to be nice to me."
"Just that."
"Shut up, I know you," You watched him, examining his face. You knew this boy too well, he knew exactly what you were referring to and he wasn't going to let it go easily. "What did you say?" You insisted.
"Honestly? Not much," He shrugged his shoulders, fingers lightly tapping on the wheel. "I called to ask him to be civil because you didn't choose this either. The important part of the conversation," Seokjin paused just to be dramatic, his finger pointing at your face for emphasis. "is what he said. And before you start pushing, I promised him whatever he says is safe with me."
You whined but knew your best friend too well to assume anything you can do will get him to change his mind. He was sassy but trustworthy, and if he promised Jungkook he won't say anything, he won't even break down for you.
The second time you came to Jimin's house, you drove your own car. You were a lot less nervous than the first time since you kind of knew what you were walking into. The birds at the doorway seemed welcoming now, and Jungkook even gave a small smile as he opened the door.
"He was too lazy to get up," he said as a way of explaining, leaving you to get out of your shoes since you already knew where to go. You followed shortly after him, just a little surprised to see Jungkook's stuff were spread next to Jimin's.
"Y/N!" Jimin threw his arms up from the spot where he was laying on the sofa. He just barely pushed himself into a sitting position to give you space to sit besides him. "Are you okay with Jungkook staying with us?"
"Of course," You responded, pulling your notebook out.
"Good," Jimin's hand came down on yours again, with Jungkook watching but not saying a word. "He could use some help as well, he got partnered with that Kris guy that is too cool for school."
"Jimin," Jungkook's voice held a warning that Jimin simply swatted away.
"It's just Y/N, it's fine. She'll help you not to fail," Jimin grinned at Jungkook before turning the same grin to you. "Spending half the time on our assignment and half on his is okay?"
"Sure," You smiled back, daring to smile at Jungkook as well. He stared back, and only managed to chuckle when he turned away from you.
"Great!" Jimin clapped, opening his notebook to show you he already progressed with your ideas. You pulled it from his hands, examining what he wrote down to find he did a pretty good job. You were kind of surprised to see the improvement. Jimin was smarter than you considered him to be.
Jimin's lead allowed you to slip back into the comfortable conversation you had last time, making wonderful progress with your ideas. Jimin started building an outline as you spoke, structuring your ideas in a coherent manner that will make writing the assignment easier for the both of you, no matter who took which part. Jungkook was watching you occasionally, and you couldn't miss the affection he held for Jimin. It just blossomed out of him with no effort. There was no hostility left in him for you, and even laughed at your jokes.
When Jimin said he's stepping out to go to the bathroom, you simply leaned back against the sofa to continue working on your formation. You felt Jungkook had something to say again, and you peaked over the notebook to see him already looking at you.
"I," he began, and you lowered the notebook to give him your full attention. "I do live here. I didn't answer you last time and it was rude, sorry."
"It's okay," You smiled.
"My parents died when I was young and Jimin's parents took me in," he continued, the rubbing of his hands together showing his awkwardness. You wondered why he was telling you this very shortly, since you wanted to actually listen to him. "I owe a debt to them. Jimin told them we have a Rat in class after the first day of Uni, and they asked me to make sure you don't come near him. So… I went a little overboard. I'm sorry."
You nodded slowly. You didn't know why he was being this open with you, but you appreciated the honestly. You figured no one expected having a Rat in their class since your kind usually sticks together and avoids big cities from the fear of being excluded within them. "It's okay," you reassured again, and Jungkook seemed to breathe out in relief. He smiled, flashing his bunny-like teeth in sincerity.
"Thank you," He glanced down at his hands, still rubbing them against each other. "I'm glad I listened to Seokjin, and I'm glad Jimin was right about you. I was acting so stupid."
"It's – "
"Jungkook project time!" Jimin shouted as he walked back to you, interrupting whatever moment you were sharing with Jungkook. He chuckled and handed you his notebook, which you accepted. Jungkook's poem was a little harder than yours, you could see the complications in it. Jimin helped you speak to Jungkook easier, to find ideas. As you were talking he was writing down important things to form into a proper paper later. The new information you accumulated was still residing in your head, to be thought of more deeply later.
For now, you just enjoyed their presence.
You noticed you're slipping slowly. The first thing that caught your attention is how easy the road to Jimin's home became with each time you visited. Honestly there wasn't much left to the assignment you were doing and Jungkook's part in his was complete two visits ago, but here you were, dropping by again in the clear pretense of having to work on it.
Another thing that alarmed you is how easy it was to be in their presence. You stopped hanging out in the living room a long time ago, preferring Jimin or Jungkook's bedroom instead. They didn't even bother opening the door for you – since they always invited you when Jimin's parents were out there was no risk. You could just walk into one of their rooms, hang out with them, talk about everything and nothing. Jimin always made sure you're comfortable, keeping his "is this okay" questions as his tool to do it. Jungkook connected to you more naturally, he tried things like lying on your thigh with careful eyes judging your reaction but with no words.
In opposition to everything you thought you'll go through in preparing this assignment, this was easy. It was nice, warm, and it kinda felt like you found your own little room in their lives. Going to classes also became easier, since you didn't need to be careful. Taehyung was taken aback when Jungkook called you to land a perfectly good joke and earn your laughter, and Hoseok accepted it without question. Seokjin proposed moving closer to them in the class-space, but Jimin waved him off, carrying his stuff to where you were usually sitting in the back of the class. His reasoning was that moving away from the professors is more rational than moving closer.
Somehow even the non-Zodiac people in your class seemed to notice the shift. Of course they had no idea what caused the animosity between you and Jungkook to begin with, but the friendship that rapidly grew between you was a dirty contrast to what you were to each other before. You noticed people glancing your way, eyebrows raising as Jungkook allowed himself to be a fool while sitting right on your left. Jimin tried to settle on your right, but one look from Seokjin told him he didn't earn the ability to come between you yet. Instead he used to stand in front of you and Jungkook during the break, leaning against the row in front of you with each of his legs touching one of Jungkook and yours.
You were continuedly surprised at how easy it was. You kind of hated yourself for complicating this easy routine you had. The most blurring alarm in your head wasn't oriented there at all, but in the depth of your stomach. See, whenever Jimin laid besides you in his bed, his legs touching yours and pure sunlight pouring from his eyes as he giggled at you, you felt butterflies. Every time Jungkook laid his head on your thigh or cracked jokes at you just to see you smile, you felt butterflies. Every time you crammed together on Jimin's bed to watch another non-Marvel movie, you usually in the middle because Jimin kept insisting that if one of you falls it's not gonna be you, you had butterflies. It's like you couldn't keep this simple, couldn't enjoy what you got without secretly craving more.
Because you liked both of them at the same time, you felt biased when you noticed the little sparks going off between them. You noticed Jungkook's affection for Jimin a long time ago, but only when you started getting to know them better did you notice Jimin's affection for Jungkook. It wasn't in the look he gave but in the actions he took. It's like he knew what was going through Jungkook's head, knew that his friend wasn't good with words, and he became his mouth or acted automatically to solve whatever problem Jungkook never uttered. You could see their friends were aware of it too, always teasing Jimin that him and Jungkook are such soulmates that they had no use for words.
They never refuted that, and you believed no lie could cover that obvious truth.
And it made you jealous.
Not mad jealous, not something that came between the three of you. It was just this secret passion to get in on their secret, to tap that frequency that they communicate through and help Jimin please Jungkook, get that same look that Jimin gets, to be in the middle not because you could be physically harmed, but because that's your natural place.
This kind of horrible wishes made you consider skipping town and never seeing anyone again. You were accepted by them completely, but you were still a Rat. You needed to remember that, needed to remember that you're actively avoiding Jimin's parents because they hate you, not being friends with them from the beginning because Jungkook protected Jimin from you. This place that you accumulated in their lives – it's not permanent. It's not actually yours.
With this heavy feeling in your chest you tapped in the code to the apartment, leaving your shoes at the door in the empty spot they kept for you. The sun was pretty nice today, so they'll probably be in Jimin's room. As you climbed the stairs, you could hear faint music coming from the almost closed door – they usually leave it wide open when you're over. You stared at it for a second, wondering if you should knock. You lifted your hand to do so when a soft moan came out of the room, making your heart skip a beat. You looked above your shoulder to find Jungkook's room was empty. The fisted hand you lifted to knock made soft contact with the door, mindlessly choosing to simply push the door open and come face to face with whatever you're going to find.
You really shouldn't have been so surprised when the scene revealed itself to you. Jimin was lying on his back, legs wrapped around Jungkook's waist, who was lying on top on him. They were almost fully dressed – almost because Jungkook wasn't a fan of wearing shirts inside the house. You swallowed thickly as you watched Jungkook's tongue slipping for a second from the seam of Jimin's lips, just to return inside as Jimin's fingers pressed into his skin, bringing him impossibly closer. You couldn't move, couldn't think when you watched Jungkook's fingers weave in Jimin's hair, pulling his head to a better position to kiss him deeper. After moving his head, Jimin's now open eyes could easily find you standing in the doorway, mouth slightly open and your hand still on the door.
You felt adrenaline shoot right through you as he pushed slightly at Jungkook's chest. Jungkook's head turned your way, but before you could see his expression you already removed yourself from the door. Your hand barely met the railing as you hurried downstairs, trying your hardest to ignore your name being called behind you. Just as you reached the last step, almost out of this situation completely, you felt determined arms wrapping around you to pull you against a stable chest. You knew it was Jimin from the smell of his hair as his head rested on your shoulder, adding pressure to stopping you from leaving.
"Please wait," He said softly into your clothed shoulder, his palms rubbing your sides. You obeyed, but only because you had to catch your breath after what felt like running a marathon. You heard Jungkook's familiar, heavier steps coming down the stairs, though he was a lot slower than Jimin. He stopped close by, but not close enough for you to see him.
"Y/N," Jimin pleaded with the sound of your name, making your heart ache. You could make out tinkers of regret in the syllables, the pained feeling washing over you and forcing you to place your own hands on top of his, calming him down. It worked immediately, as he lifted his head from your shoulder to peer at your face. "Is this weird?"
You had no idea what to say, your mouth opening slightly just to close again.
"Is it making you uncomfortable?"
You tried to calm your mind, just as desperate as Jimin to know the answer to that. A dull throb in your stomach told you that no, it didn't make you uncomfortable. It made you excited, and not in the innocent way. Seeing them like this, together, kissing, it felt right. It felt like something you wanted to see again, something you wanted to experience for yourself. Just another thing you wanted to be a part of.
"No."
Jimin breathed out against your throat, making you shiver. His hands felt more confident, moving along with yours to rest on your stomach. You could see a movement from the corner of your eye, but Jungkook stopped before he'll be too close. "We want you to stay. Is that okay?"
You relaxed your back to Jimin's chest, nodding your head. Jimin turned you around and you saw Jungkook's face for the first time – his eyes were wide and fearful as he stood there, not knowing what to do. You couldn't help but smile at him just to calm him down, your hand reaching out to him as well. He held it softly, taking one more step down to be closer. "It's okay," you reassured him, finally earning a smile from him in return. He led you back upstairs, with Jimin still attached to your back. It was awkward, but you felt like Jimin needed that so you powered through.
You only blushed a little when they led you back to Jimin's bedroom, noting how messy the sheets were from their movements on them just seconds ago. Jungkook walked around the bed to climb on the other side, but he didn't lie down until you settled in the middle. Instead, he waited until he could lie on your thigh again, fingertips tentatively brushing over your jeans. This was the most Dog you've ever seen him, almost pawing at you to make sure you're not mad. You fought the urge to play with his hair, feeling like it's too intimate after what you just witnessed. Your decision to place your hand on his shoulder instead did not go unnoticed by Jimin's careful eyes.
"How about Spiderman Homecoming?" Jimin's soft voice made you chuckle.
"I'd love to."
Jimin settled on your left, taking your hand in his the moment he turned on the movie and tossed the remote away. He leaned his head against your shoulder, playing with your fingers with both his hands. You stayed in silence as the movie started but you weren't really watching. You were too focused on everywhere your body made contact with them, the memories floating in your head, the meaning behind it.
Their friends must have known about this… thing. You didn't actually know what you walked into and they didn't seem to care about it. It also seemed rational for Jungkook to be so protective of his… boyfriend? Friend with benefits? You really had no idea what to call it. It felt like a lightbulb just turned on in your head, shedding light on things you didn't know were hidden in the unknown. You felt stupid for not putting the clues together, but they did seem to be pretty skinship-y with you as well, so how were you supposed to know?
Jimin's fingers slipped between the gaps of yours, securely holding your palm against his. You looked down at your hands – this is the first time he didn't simply play with your fingers. You never actually held hands before. Jimin noticed your shift, lifting his head to meet your eyes. You felt like he was trying to communicate something to you, and it frustrated you that you weren't on the frequency yet to know the words he didn't say. Jungkook tensed against your leg, obviously feeling the new, confused energy. He moved to push his nose against your thigh, asking for something. Again, you didn't know what.
Jimin lifted your joined hands to place the back of your hands against his lips. He didn't kiss it, just held it there as if he's hiding a part of his expression. You could see regret attaching itself to his expression, and you really didn't like it. As an instinct, feeling like there's nothing you could say to make this better, you pulled at his hand until you could press a kiss against his skin. It was small, but you felt like it was so meaningful. The relief replacing the guilt in Jimin's expression informed you he got it as well.
"Thank you for staying."
You felt like Jungkook's palm, spreading over your thigh, was attempting to say the same thing.
"Yeah, they've been dating for a while now," Seokjin shrugged your terror off.
"And you never thought to tell me," you deadpanned, throwing the closest thing you could grab at his face.
your pencil bounced off of his chest, completely not harmful but still earned a frown. "I thought they'd tell you when they're ready. It seems like they were."
"You think they decided to tell me like that?" You heaved a sigh, nothing allowing the tightness in your chest to be released. Your mind conjured the image of Jimin's sad face as he waved you goodbye that day, like he thought this was the last time you'll be seeing each other.
You really hoped it wasn't.
"I mean, they knew you were coming," Seokjin began, fingers tapping on your knee. You wondered if your sigh made him worry, since he looked not annoyed but a little concerned now. "Jungkook is a moment kind of guy, but Jimin is more calculated than that. He would have stopped whatever it is before you came, if he didn't want you to see."
"But why?"
You could tell there was something Seokjin wasn't telling you. He just tapped on your knee, saying nothing that could help.
my partner asked me to change something you have time tomorrow at 5? 14:10
You saved Jungkook's number a while ago, but this was the first text messages between you. Jimin was the one usually texting you for the both of them, or you talked over in the group Jimin opened for the three of you. Nonetheless, you couldn't jump fast enough on an opportunity to feel like everything is okay between you.
Sure, see you then. 14:10
You were surprised to find Jungkook in Jimin's room, but with no Jimin to be found. Another missing ingredient was his work stuff, since he just sat around on Jimin's bed on his phone. The moment you made your presence known he threw him phone on the bed, watching with as you crawled next to him.
"I didn't really need help, it was an excuse," Jungkook confessed.
You puffed the pillows behind you, settling beside him. "Why do you need an excuse to hang out?"
"Didn't know what else to say," he shrugged, shimmying closer until your shoulder touched his arm.
You chuckled, touching his leg with yours. "Just say you want to hang out, it's enough."
"I want to hang out."
You laughed, looking at Jimin's glowing stars stuck to the ceiling. The silence wasn't uncomfortable like you feared but pleasant. Jungkook's leg touched yours a few times, but the touch didn't remain as he pulled away. You said nothing to that either, just letting him find his comfortable place since you knew it was harder for him to shake it off than it was for you.
"I didn't get to spend a lot of time near Dogs," Jungkook mused in a light tone, turning his body more towards you to get your attention. You simply looked at him, waiting for him to continue. "But I heard there's this thing, with Rats."
You blinked, knowing that the look on Jungkook's face meant he was testing the waters with something that he's not sure how you will react to. "What thing?"
"An attraction," he paused, evaluating each altered muscle in your face. "Like, a physical one."
You hummed, needing to look away from his intense studying. You didn't know where he's going with this, but your heart started high-key hammering in your chest. "Yeah, that's a thing. I heard about it, but you're kind of the first Dog I've been close to, so I'm not sure."
Jungkook made a small sound, almost like he was frustrated that you're not saying what he wanted you to say. He tried again, sitting up a little to get a better look at you. Your heartbeats became louder to your own ears, making you feel like you're trapped under his attention though you could very easily get away. "Do you," he began, eyes drilling into yours. "Do you feel it?"
You held your breath, not sure what to say. Just the last time you were here you saw how much him and Jimin are feeling for each other, why would he ask you this now? Do they know you have feelings for them and that's what he's trying to get at?
Jungkook licked his lips in a flash. "Jimin," Your heart dropped at the mention of his name as guilt creeped in. "He told me to ask." You frowned, taking in how much closer Jungkook is leaning now, never relenting. "Is it okay if I kissed you?"
You felt like every muscle in your body just hit pause. You looked at him, at the anticipation he now showed after asking the question. It was so not him, he would just do things when his calculated consequence was worth the risk – they must have talked about it, as you know them Jimin must have insisted this is not worth the risk no matter how many calculations he made, he had to ask instead of do. And he did, and you could see how uncharacteristic of him it was as he anxiously waited for your response.
You felt your body move, your instincts taking the wheel to getting what you desired for a long time now. You felt yourself nod, and Jungkook needed no more. He kissed you immediately, hands sailing from your shoulders to your neck, until they could spread across your jaw and cheeks. You felt him tilting your head – like he's done with Jimin – as he moved his body closer to encase you in. He pressed you against the pillows behind you, the body weight on top of yours feeling right enough for your hands to find his waist, asking for more. He complied, tongue moving past your lips to stroke at yours. He made an approving sound from the back of his throat, and you responded immediately with a breathless sound of your own.
You were so focused on the sensations you almost missed the dip of the bed from your left, where Jimin usually is.
Jimin.
You broke apart from Jungkook, not missing his displeased sigh right before he pressed his nose to your shoulder. Right above his you found Jimin's face, with a wild twinkle in his eye and a wide smile pressed painfully tight to his cheeks. "Why did you stop?" he asked cheerfully, crawling closer.
"Because it's weird when your boyfriend is watching," Jungkook answered instead of you, his face still hidden.
"It's not weird, it's nice." It only took one tap of Jimin's hand on Jungkook's head for him to lift his head, pecking his boyfriend centimeters from your face like this is absolutely normal. Jimin's hand came down next to your head as he made sure his amused face is the only thing you could see. "Is it okay?"
You knew what he was asking and knew that Jungkook was watching. Looking at him you found he wore the same expression he had before, like he was waiting for what's to come on the edge of his seat. He nodded at you, rapid motions that were meant to lead you just agree.
So you did.
Jimin's kiss was much less passionate than Jungkook, he just enjoyed the touch, the permission he was granted to have another piece of you. It didn't last long either, but the look he gave you – Jungkook's look – set your mind at ease.
He and Jungkook shared a moment, both still holding you, and you got it now. This time their plan worked. "We want you," Jungkook blurred out, eyes shifting to you as Jimin giggled against his shoulder. "I know you probably understood on your own, but it's important for me to say."
You smiled at Jimin's fit of happy little giggles and at the blush spreading across Jungkook's cheeks. "I want you too."

BTS Fanfic Recommendations
Ok, so I don’t know if it’s considered weird to hype up other people when you write fan fiction and basically turn the attention away from yourself but IDK because I’ve been dying to share all my favorite fanfics with you guys! I hope you enjoy this, most (if not all) of these will be on AO3! A few will be from here, here being Tumblr. I’m such a dork, omg don’t look at me! But read! Read these beauties and leave me be!!!!! 😂Also, I’ll be putting warnings beside the ones that have smut/BDSM/or anything else that’s weird. A lot of these will have smut because for a long time I was really insecure about writing smut so I tended to read books that advertised it in order to know what the hell I was actually writing.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The Songbird and the Sea
Author — MissterMaia (follow her on Twitter she’s actually hilarious and I love her)
Pairing — Yoonmin, with side Namjin and Taekook.
Rating— Mature (there’s smut in this so tread carefully)
Description — In a world where dominance of the sea is an endless battle between pirates and mariners, Park Jimin is content living in his little village on a small, uninteresting island by the eastern mainland. He wants nothing to do with the bloodshed of good and evil, the heartless killing of both innocents and condemned, the constant establishment and disruption of order. What he wants is peace, to live his life in the same town he was born in, to spend his days in the beautiful forest, and to use the powers of his Blessed Rune to nurture the home he loves so dearly. But when his island is attacked by pirates, Jimin will have no other choice than to do as they command and leave all thoughts of peace behind in favor of boarding the Agust, a pirate ship captained by the infamous Min Yoongi, Black Fox of the East.
My thoughts — omg, where do I begin? God this book was so beautiful. The character development! The plot! The ROMANCE! AH! It was such a perfect work of art! I never felt bored like at all and normally I get bored pretty easy on long chaptered books like this! She’s also getting the book published! (With different character names obviously and it’s like super edited.) I don’t know what else to say other than GO READ THIS!!! SHE IS THE QUEEN OF YOONMIN!! YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
Hidden Omega
Author — LadyPrussia
Pairing — Namjoon Centric
Rating — Explicit (there’s smut in this so tread carefully)
Description — At 21 Namjoon still hasn't presented leaving him as a dud, with the BTS pack having their own issues and not treating him like a real member a tragic event forces Namjoon's body to present as an omega. Is it really too late for BTS to win Namjoon's heart? Or will one of the 4 other packs steal it instead? Or maybe a darkhorse will appear.
My Thoughts — this book is great! Not only is it super long (over eighty chapters) and still being updated, but the character development is super refreshing. Forewarning though, the author has said that there is a good chance Namjoon won’t end up in the Bangtan Pack but a different one, and originally that made me upset, but with the way she painted the story I actually don’t care what Pack he ends up with; their all beautiful and it’s an amazing book! Lots of drama and angst for you angst lovers out there!
No Spell can Cure Shyness
Author — MissterMaia (seriously — I love her)
Pairing — Yoonmin, mentioned Namjin, Side Taekook
Rating — teens and up
Description — Yoongi really doesn’t expect the witchboy who sent him an accidental text to be the prettiest boy he's ever seen in all his life. Or the nicest. Or the kindest. Or just the best in every possible way. Painfully shy and (un)smooth as he is, Yoongi decides the best way to approach this Jimin person is in the form of a cat. A cat who can't talk. Great plan, Yoongi.
My Thoughts — The FLUFF!!! I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this book! All of this woman’s works are masterpieces that need to be appreciated! Yoongi is so shy it’s hilarious and he has the most extra reactions to like everything — and and I LOVE!!! YOU need to read it! Stop whatever your doing and go read it!
Saltation
Author — momora
Pairing — Yoonmin, side Taekook, and Namjin
Rating — explicit (there’s smut in this so tread carefully)
Description — Jimin had grown up watching his mother sort the point-oh-one percent beta defaults into the alpha-omega communities, but that doesn't make being a part of the statistic much easier. He'd be doing okay at this new omega thing if that watchful alpha Min Yoongi could stay out of the situation. He just wants to settle into his new life and finish his useless degree already. Instead, all hell breaks loose.
My Thoughts — This book is the one of the best a/b/o fics I have ever read in my entire life! Alpha’s and Omega’s live separate from Beta’s due to different instincts and Jimin was born in the beta community but presented as an omega. And it’s really funny because He keeps slipping up and doing/saying things that leave everyone else kind of like (0.0) The writing is fantastic! The characters are absolutely riveting as is the plot and the AUTHOR KEEPS TEADING ME ON TWITTER ABOUT HER NEXT UPDATE AND HOLY HELL IM BREAKING DOWN OVER HERE!!!
Jammed
Author — minverse
Pairing — Vmin, side Yoonseok, maybe Namjin?
Rating — explicit (there’s smut in this so tread carefully)
Description —The rational part of Jimin's brain screams at him to remember what his mother said about strangers and vans. But the rational part of his brain is no match for really bad whiskey and Kim Taehyung. ((au where Jimin gets stuck on the interstate in the middle of a blizzard and Taehyung lives in a van))
My Thoughts — this book! *wheezes from laughter* is so funny! Jimin is trying to make it to Yoongi and Hoseok’s wedding (which he is kind of dreading because Hoseok is trying to set him up with his own best man) and he gets stuck in a blizzard and boom there’s Taehyung! A renowned author that decided to live in his van and travel the world while writing his new book. This book was so funny you guys! I was dying, there was a smut scene and it was pretty great. The whole book was phenomenal and I loved it so much. Because I have literally no self control I’m gonna add a sneak peak.
Tumblr media
NU ABO: A Memoir by Park Jimin
Author — decompositionbooks
Pairing — Jikook
Rating — explicit (there’s smut in this so tread carefully.)
Description — The world didn't think it was necessary to give him a guide when it shoved all of these omega hormones at him, so here it is, Park Jimin's handbook on dealing with heats, unrequited love, and Jeon Jungkook.
My Thoughts — this book was so good! Omega’s are really rare and Jimin is so against the stereotypes put on omega’s and he is CONVINCED that Jungkook thinks of him as a tiny child that needs protection and he’s such a little ball of rage and god it’s so funny and he’s so sarcastic and furious that he’s being forced into this cutesy image (that he refuses to admit he likes) and it’s so cute and hilarious.
In Your Eyes
Author — TrappingLighteningBugs
Pairing — Jikook
Rating — Explicit (there’s smut and light dim/sub in this so tread carefully)
Description — On nights where everything seems against him, Jimin wishes he could take Jungkook down a few pegs.
My Thoughts — I originally read this because I was trying to expand my view on what a dom!Jimin would look like for my Bunny Breath book but I actually really liked this a lot. The characterization was good, it wasn’t like most smut oneshots where the characters go at with like literally no push and seems to be mildly dubious consent. This was well thought out and I enjoyed reading it.
A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing
Author — blimpish
Pairing — Junghope
Rating — Explicit (there’s smut so tread carefully)
Description — When Jeongguk decides it's time to live out his fantasy of being knotted, he determines that Hoseok is the best (read: least awful) candidate for the job.
My Thoughts — I read this book because I’m a hoe for Junghope. But it’s really good! I remember feeling mildly dubious about it until I got to this really funny scene when Jungkook (a beta) asks Jimin (an omega)if he knows any alpha’s that wouldn’t be weirded out bu having sex with a beta and Jimin’s just like “I know three but your not gonna like it.” And after that it’s a hilarious conversation of them deciding which of their friends would be the least cringe worthy for Jungkook to sleep with. Jimin admits that Hoseok is great and it goes from there. BUT THERE IS A PLOT LINE!!! ITS NOT JUST SMUT!!
Unfamiliars
Author— themarmalade
Pairing — Yoonseok (my library is mostly Yoonseok.)
Rating — Mature (I can’t remember if there’s smut and it’s a long book so I don’t want to go read through all of it. Fuck I totally will but that’s beside the point. Read the tags when you click on the link.)
Description — Hoseok rescues a kitty in a summer storm. Thanks to some weird magic, Yoongi is that kitty. In a tiny apartment full of plants and moonlight, a simple, aching happiness blooms. But with what Jungkook knows, how long can the happiness last?
My Thoughts — this is so cute! Yoongi is just minding his own business when he accidentally steps into a warlocks spell pentagram and gets turned into a cat by Jin, he positively freaks the fuck out runs away, gets picked up by Hobi and things go from there. It’s so cute and soft and ima go read it BYE!!!!
Bad at Love
Author — shooky__bear
Pairing — Yoonseok with side Namjin.
Rating — Explicit (there is smut and definite don/sub so tread carefully.)
Description —Yoongi was pretty sure he was straight. Pretty sure (And not remotely interested in love or Jung Hoseok.) Alternatively ; that fic where yoon thinks he's straight and he's a bit of a slut and keeps fucking girls tho he likes hoseok and seoks a Patient Loving Gay who waits and Supports yoon through his Gay Crisis.
My Thoughts — this book is full of so much emotion and general truth. I love it so much, I cried several times when reading and admittedly geared up at the end. Hoseok was so sweet and patient and he had to literally teach Yoongi that it was ok to trust him and crap now I’m crying.
Take Me to the Edge
Author — Nasobem
Pairing — Yoonseok
Rating — Explicit (there is smut and Don/sub undertones so tread carefully)
Description —Yoongi takes a pointed step backwards and glares at "Hobi". "What the fuck kind of name is that," he says, "and don't touch me." Namjoon makes a funny noise. Yoongi ignores it for the sake of eviscerating "Hobi" with his stare. It seems to be weirdly ineffective. Or Yoongi is hired to work Tech Support and Security for Jung Corp and it'd honestly be pretty chill if it wasn't for this one obnoxiously handsome dude whose life mission it seems to be to bother Yoongi until he breaks.
My Thoughts— I love this book. Yoongi is such an angry little bean and Hoseok literally just wants to make him happy — the Maknae Line are little shits but what’s new there? This whole book is amazing. I wish I could find a good Vmin/Vhope/Minjoon/Sugakookie book like this. *cries*
Our Burned Bridges
Author — tendershipping (nothing about her ships are tender! *sobs*)
Pairing — Vminkook (she’s the Vmin queen)
Rating — Mature (no smut but brutal themes so tread carefully)
Description —Agent Jeon Jeongguk is given a cover story and assigned to guard amnesiac Kim Taehyung. (Taehyung has nightmares most nights after he wakes, at first. He screams and cries names Jeongguk doesn’t recognize, always one in particular—Jimin.)
My Thoughts— I’m, I’m so EMOTIONAL!!! I read it and was a literal mess halfway through and IT JUST GOT MORE DARK and *chokes* Vmin we’re MARRIED and enter Jimin who seems so bitter and mean and sarcastic but he’s really just broken and angry about things and — go read this. It has a happy ending to so win win.

change my mind | 2
pairing: jeon jungkook and park jimin; jikook/kookmin
genre: fluff (a lot), college au, friends to lovers
length: 9k words| crossposted on ao3
summary:
“i don’t do relationships,” jimin spills in the fresh air of the fast food – a mixed smell of hamburgers, ketchup and french fries surrounding them. “i enjoy the conquest and the flirting part better. relationships are always so boring and predictable. not to mention most of the times fake.”
jungkook rolls his eyes and laughs, pretending he doesn’t feel his heart clench and slightly sink inside his chest.
“you’re helpless.”
jimin smiles at him, and it’s almost unfair. “call me realistic.” he corrects, taking a greasy thumb till his lips to clean it out of the oil of the food. he repeats the same action with the rest of his fingers. jungkook has to divert his gaze, scared he might end up staring too hard.
he snorts with a made up irritation.
“i call you a pain in the ass.“
chapter 1
“So, what do you say?” Jungkook asks again, after throwing at Jimin one of the hardest ‘would you rather’s question he has ever heard. He narrows his eyes in deep thought.
They’re walking side by side, probably just five or six minutes away from the mall now. The sun is mercilessly burning in the cloudless sky, but Jimin is relieved the high buildings alongside the sidewalk are providing shadows long enough to shelter them from the scorching heat. Yet, even so, Jimin can still feel a ghostly sensation of a droplet of sweat running down the back of his neck. He wipes it with his palm, taking the chance to look up at Jungkook.
“This is seriously so hard, how did you come up with that?”
The younger shrugs. “It was one of the questions on Pottermore.”
Jimin frowns. “Pottermore?”
Jungkook looks at him as if he just asked “Ocean? What is that?”
“Yes, Pottermore. The official website every kid went to, to find out which Hogwarts’ house they belong to?”
Jimin chuckles, shaking his head in amusement. “Oh my god, you’re such a nerd.”
“Hey! I call that being highly open minded to every movie genre. In fact!” he raises a finger, taking two steps larger than Jimin to get in front of him and fully face the older boy “I say we should do a Harry Potter’s marathon to educate you.”
Jimin licks his lips in order to moist them from the dryness the hot weather is providing. “I say no, thanks. And stop walking backwards, you’re gonna get hurt!”
Jungkook rolls his eyes, but listens to the other’s words anyway, getting back on his place by Jimin’s side. “We’re so doing this marathon, you don’t get a word on this.”
Jimin scoffs. “Excuse me? I don’t?”
“No, you don’t. And stop dodging the question! You’re standing in the middle of a room on fire. You can either save the baby who is in there or the last magic potion able to cure one thousand people with a deadly disease. What do you do?”
Jimin snorts. He refuses to answer a simple “I don’t know”, because somehow he feels like that would mean disappointing Jungkook and he doesn’t really want that to happen? He doesn’t know what to do with that information, though.
“The baby, I guess? I mean, if I choose the potion, then I leave that baby to die, isn’t that almost… murder?”
Jungkook smiles. “Well, yes, but you can use that same logic with the potion and the sick people. You’re also letting them to die.”
Jimin bites his lip, analyzing the new point of view. “Okay, yes, but it’s a baby. I mean, I could be saving a bunch of criminals, for what I know.”
“Are you saying criminals don’t deserve to live?” Jungkook pushes, clearly amused, poking Jimin on the ribs with his elbow.
“No, but I mean– I’d rather save a baby than them.”
“Well, I see, but from what you know you could also be saving one thousand babies.”
At that, Jimin scratches his nape frustrated. “God, why is this so hard?! I mean– Okay, no, I’m not changing my mind, I’m saving the baby.” Jimin says with confidence, stopping beneath the semaphore when they reach the street they need to cross. The mall is right on the other side, standing tall and big with all its glass windows reflecting the sunlight almost blindly.
“Good.” Jungkook nods. “But, you know, as far as you know, you could be saving Lord Voldemort.”
Jimin genuinely frowns, shooting puzzled eyes at Jungkook . “Who?”
“Oh god. Like– You could be saving Hitler.”
“Oh.” he exclaims, the younger’s new perspective sinking in him; then, he releases a deep breath. “This is, like, pointless. Whatever my answer is you’re going to find a way to make it seem wrong!” he accuses, right at the same time the red light brightens in the semaphore. “Come.” he starts walking, aware of the cars coming to a stop by their right side and keeping an eye on them with his peripheral, just in case. Jungkook follows close behind him.
“I’m not making it seem wrong!” he goes defensive, “I’m just telling you all the possibilities.” and then, reasons, as if he really wasn’t arguing with every single response Jimin gave, just to tease.
“Right.” Jimin smiles, climbing the steps that leads to the courtyard of the mall. It’s large, and mainly paved, but in the corners some trees make their existence known by portraying a vivid green that catches the peripheral vision’s attention. “What did you choose anyway?”
“Me? The potion.”
Jimin looks back at him. “Seriously? Why?”
“It’s math.” he puts his hand with the palms up in front of him, representing a metaphorical balance. “One thousand people, only one person…” he takes his left hand down to express the bigger weight a thousand means. Jimin shrugs.
“I bet in the real situation you’d save the baby.” he confidently lets slip from his mouth, and he doesn’t understand exactly why. He doesn’t even know Jungkook that much to be making this kind of assumption. “You’re too soft.” He mentally reprimands himself for not using “you seem too soft”, hoping Jungkook didn’t take it as an offense.
They finally reach the entrance’s door, the motion sensor attached to it making it automatically slide open for them. The inner air conditioner blows cold breaths to the back of Jimin’s warm neck as soon as he steps inside the mall, providing a soft chill to run down his arms due to the slight termic change.
“I like to think I’m the type of logical and reasonable person.” Comes Jungkook’s reply, responsible for Jimin’s little chuckles.
“Sure you are.” He teases, looking around the place only to come to the sense he has no idea what they’re up to. “Um, Jungkook?” the younger raises his eyebrows at him, “What are we doing now?”
“Oh.” He looks around as if he had just realized they walked 15 minutes to end up in the middle of the mall, clueless where to go from there. “Right. Guess we… walk around to find your perfect match for a first date?”
“Oh.” Jimin almost forgot the whole purpose of they going out together. “Right.”
“Okay, let’s go grab some ice cream and then we can eat it at the food court while we analyze the guys around us.”
Jimin has to force himself not to cringe much apparently. “This sounds so awkward.” He states, following Jungkook till the escalator on the other side of the place. “It’s like a real life tinder. A terrible idea, if you want my opinion.”
He hears Jungkook laughing and the sound stirs something inside him.
It’s a… a nice sound.
“Come on, let’s give it a shot.” Jungkook steps aside to allow Jimin to go up the stair first. He hides the blush the action causes on him by scratching his cheek and diverting his gaze.
“Ah!” Jimin exclaims and points to the bowling place he spots while trying not to get all red. “Look, look! Oh, wehave to go!” he hears Jungkook’s giggle and turns around to face the boy, but if regret killed he’d sure have a heart attack and pass out right away, cause Jungkook’s face is so close to his that he can feel all his effort to not blush seconds ago jumping right off the window. He has to hold all the air into his lungs in order to not let a pathetic squeak escape his mouth.
Jungkook is standing on the lower step, so that creates a height difference in which Jimin is taller and, somehow, this stirs inside him the desire to wrap his hands around Jungkook’s neck and pull him closer for a kiss. He wants to feel Jungkook’s hands squeezing his waist, and then his strong arms encircling his body so there’s not an inch of space between them.
I’m losing it, I’m definitely losing it. What the hell is happening?!
“Jimin?”
Taehyung told me about this once. He said when the attraction is too strong we call it infatuation. This is what this is. Infatuation.
“Um, Jimin?”
I fucking hate infatuation.
He’s so pretty.
“Jimin, oh my god!”
Jimin belatedly realizes with a pinch of panic that they reached the top of the stair while he was in the middle of his existential crisis, and, as he is facing Jungkook – consequently with his back to the front of the stair –, his feet collides with the edge of the last step, getting him to lose balance. His ass is most definitely meant to find the ground with all its gravity’s force, but Jungkook is the one by his side – the one trying to defy everything Jimin ever believed in his entire life –, so of course Jungkook is going to catch him right before he falls, with his arms completely wrapped around Jimin’s waist, their chests gluing for a second way too long, because he has to get in the way of normalcy, he has to make Jimin feel like he’s into the most cliché drama, he has to make Jimin want to punch him all over just so he can kiss it better later.
“Ah, sorry.” He pulls away embarrassed the instant he regains his balance – stepping firmly on the ground –, and starts to walk so they don’t block the way.
The younger smiles and follows beside him. “It’s nothing, don’t worry.” Jimin scrunches his nose in pre-discomfort for the question he knows it is to come. “But what were you thinking about? I mean, I called you twice, you were totally not hearing me.”
“Bowling.” Jimin straightforward lies. “I was thinking how cool would be to beat you up.”
Jungkook scoffs in fake offense and thankfully doesn’t realize Jimin’s nervousness. “As if. And for your information, I was just telling you on that stairs when you were not listening to me,” he pinpoints, getting Jimin to roll his eyes, “that you’re lucky I have no money right now, because I’d definitely take you and kick your ass in that bowling alley if I did.”
“Well, I’d love to see you try to do that.”
Jungkook stops on his track, forcing Jimin to do the same, so he can look back at the older with a pair of false shocked eyes. “Are you challenging me?”
Jimin smiles mischievously. “I don’t know. Am I?”
“Okay, you’re asking for it. We’ll come back here next week, and then, I’m going to show you I don’t joke around in service.”
“Good.” Jimin shrugs and smirks. “Neither do I, beautiful.”
He smiles when he sees pink dust reddening Jungkook’s cheeks at the pet name. As if he’s going to let this nerd turn him into a bubbling, gushy mess and detach himself from his flirting manners. He has a reputation to keep up with and he is so very much pleased to go and do just that.
“Good. It’s a deal, then.” Jungkook playfully extends a hand for Jimin to shake. And that’s how they end up holding hands in the most natural way. “Now let’s find you a date. But first, where do you wanna have ice cream?”
Jimin looks around, pursing his lips while he analyzes each shop. “Oh!” he spots a particular one that catches his attention and points “There! It’s a ice cream shop, isn’t it?” The name looks German, Jimin has never seen it before.
Jungkook looks back at him shocked, “What, there?! Are you rich or you truly don’t feel sorry for your poor limited money as an university student?”
“What, why?!” Jimin pouts. “The logo looks cute…”
“Yeah, I bet they’ll charge you at least 22000 won just for walking around with their cute logo.” Jimin sticks his tongue out at the mockery. “Okay, here are your options. Burger King or McDonald’s?”
“Ew.” He scowls and restarts to walk. “McDonald’s, obviously.”
Jungkook laughs.
“What’s the problem with Burger King’s ice cream?”
Jimin stares at him as if he just asked why chocolate tastes so good.
“Because it sucks.” He says plainly, with a straight face.
“Jimin.” Jungkook pauses. “It tastes exactly the same.”
The older fleers sarcastically. “It so does not.” They stop in front of the counter of the fast food, and as it is a week day, they don’t have to wait in line. “I’m going to show you. I’m buying mine here and you’re buying yours there.” Jungkook shrugs with indifference. “You’re so going to want to have half of mine after I prove I’m right.” Jimin insists stubbornly and turns to face the cashier, putting a sympathetic smile on his face right away. “Hello, good afternoon.” He bows slightly. Jungkook doesn’t miss how the man behind the counter blushes faintly.
“Good afternoon. May I take your order?”
“Ah, yes. I’ll want a McFlurry. The one with oreo.”
“Sure. Money or card?”
Jimin is about to answer he is paying with money when he feels one of Jungkook’s hand curl around the curve on the left side of his waist, his chin coming to softly rest on his shoulder.
“Ah… Sorry, money.” He finally answers after snapping out of his mild state of sudden awareness. What is he doing?
He handles the cashier the notes while Jungkook snuggles closer to him, which gets him wondering if the boy is trying to bring his heart to a stop or something. “You’re warm.” Jimin hears his murmur. “’m tired.” Oh. Right. Of course. Why else he’d half backhug him in public? Still, his back kind of tingles from where it touches Jungkook’s chest. He’s caught between hating it and loving it. “Hope you don’t mind.”
“It’s okay.” Jimin reassures him. After all, he is feeling the butterflies on his stomach and that’s what he is always looking for, right?
So why the fuck it feels so uncomfortable?
The cashier hands Jimin his change after typing his order on the computer screen, together with his invoice. He thanks the man and walks to the counter part where he is supposed to wait for his ice cream. Jungkook doesn’t let go of him. Instead, he places the hand he had hanging in the air on the other side of Jimin’s waist, sliding them to the front of his belly, so he’s wrapping him in a full backhug now. He doesn’t resist the urge to take his hand to Jungkook’s forearm and caress it with his thumb – it’s almost like an instinctive response, and it scares him how familiar, yet new, it feels. They stay like that for some more time, until a girl approaches them from behind the counter with Jimin’s order in hands. He thanks her with a bow and takes it.
“Um, Jungkook?” he calls when the boy doesn’t mention to move from his spot behind him.
“Mhm?”
“You kinda need to let me go if we want to go order yours.”
Jimin hears the boy murmur something on his shoulder that sounds a lot like “don’t wanna”.
“What?” he asks in order to know if he heard right.
“Don’t wanna move, let’s just order mine here too.”
Jimin smirks in victory. “So you admit I won and that the ice cream here tastes best?”
But the way Jungkook nuzzles against his neck and whispers a soft ‘sure’ against his skin actually has his heart skipping a beat instead of warming up in pleasure at the self gain for his competitive ass. He allows a waverly “okay” to slip from his throat and calls the attendant again.
It’s so fucking hard to deal with Jungkook. If he was blatantly flirting with Jimin, having a smirk adorning his lips and an ambiguous tone in his voice, it’d make everything a million times easier. Jimin would respond with the same intentions, they would hook up and that was that. But no. Fucking no. Jeon Jungkook has to be the softest boy Jimin has ever known, he has to be so genuine to the point Jimin doesn’t know if he’s hitting on him or just being himself. How can he be sure Jungkook doesn’t backhug and nuzzle against the neck of all of his friends this casually? It probably means nothing to him, yet here it is Jimin doing an analysis out of such a stupid and simple thing. How pathetic, really.
“It’s going to melt all over the cup if you don’t eat it.” Jungkook says when he realizes Jimin hasn’t even touched his ice cream yet.
“Oh. Right.” He ignores the spoon placed on the side and licks the top, having the sweet taste of vanilla overwhelming his senses for a second. God, he really likes sweet things. “Ah, it’s so good.” he comments, “I haven’t eaten ice cream in a while.”
Jungkook doesn’t say anything, just hums to express he heard and moves closer to Jimin to find a better position for his face on his shoulder. Jimin is scared the boy might drift off to sleep, so he turns his head to see if his eyes are closed and is surprised to find the younger’s gaze laying over him. He is quick to look away.
“Ah, sorry, I… I wasn’t staring, I just… Your cheek looks soft.”
Jimin fights a smile when he spots Jungkook’s skin reddening. He detaches from the boy just enough to fully face him. “What?” he asks, and hears a stupid smile on his voice. He sounds more amused than he should be. And he actually is.
Jungkook doesn’t meet his eyes, instead he keeps wandering with them everywhere but Jimin’s face. “You… you had a thing on your cheek, but then I thought it looked soft, that’s all.” He tries to explain, but Jimin’s enjoying it all too much already.
He nods cynically, and diverts his eyes from the boy’s face, just at the time the attendant comes again with Jungkook’s order. Jungkook takes it and lets go of Jimin, so they can walk to a table.
“Yeah, right, you can just say you were mesmerized by my pretty face, there’s no problem in it.” He jokes and takes a mouthful of ice cream till his lips with the plastic spoon.
Jimin can’t help but feel rather empty and cold where Jungkook’s body was glued to his – yet, he shoves down the feeling somewhere deep into his gut. Maybe that’ll stop his stomach from unreasonably acting like a starving jellyfish, all bubbly and soft.
Jungkook scoffs besides him. “Gahah!” he mocks childishly and Jimin fails to keep the endearing glow away from his eyes, so he just focuses on watching the people around him instead, “You wish…” The younger mutters while stuffing a spoon of ice cream on his mouth. Jimin wants to ask how old is he and pinch his cheeks just for the pleasure to rile him up more, but he also doesn’t want to stretch the subject too much, so he lets it die with a low hum.
They find a place to sit soon after, and it’s actually one of the furthest tables from where people is hanging out. Jimin thinks the choice is weird if they’re going to try and find him a date, but he doesn’t comment on it.
“So? How is it?” he asks when they settle on a pair of chairs next to each other.
“Good.” Jungkook leans towards him. “Let me taste yours.” He opens his mouth, waiting for Jimin to feed him like a child.
“How old are you?” Jimin chuckles, taking a spoon to the younger’s mouth nonetheless.
Sulky, Jungkook frowns. “Have you never heard the saying that says someone else’s food always tastes better? Huh, huh?” he questions, mouth full. “And I’m twenty, for your information.”
Jimin is unable to contain the smile on his lips. He is sure twenty years’ olders shouldn’t sulk in the middle of the day with vanilla’s broth of the ice cream they’re messily eating sliding down their lips, but, perhaps, in Jungkook’s conception they do.
“Sure you are.” He says, bringing his thumb to wipe the mess Jungkook made over his lips, unconsciously taking the finger to his own mouth afterwards. He belatedly realizes how intimate the act is, but pretends it’s not a big deal by pointing at a random guy in front of them with his chin, so he can try and not die of embarrassment.
Jungkook is confused at first, still startled by the sudden display of intimacy. “What?”
“Him. For my date.” Jimin babbles the first thing on his mind. “What do you think?”
“Oh…” Jungkook exclaims, his eyes drifting to the guy again. He’s tall – taller than Jimin, at least, but it’s not like this is immensely hard –, has a shiny black hair that has Jungkook uncomfortably ruffling his own opaque one, is handsome and he is definitely gay. Well, if he is not, he would definitely be for Jimin.
“Not that one, he’s not gay.” Jungkook refuses right away.
“Really?” Jimin looks back at Jungkook surprised.
“Really.”
“But I was so sure… I’ve always thought I was very good at this.”
Jungkook shakes his head without a tip of blame on his blatant lie.
“No, I’m the best on this, trust me, he’s not.”
Jimin narrows his eyes, suspicious. “Why are you the best? You don’t seem the type to approach the guys you’re interested in to be the best at knowing this.”
Jungkook laughs, pulling a facade of confidence he has never used before. “Please. I’m definitely this type.”
He’s such a bad liar.
Jimin places the cup of ice cream on the table and crosses his arms to completely face Jungkook, not seeming the least convinced. “Liar.”
“It’s true! I hit on guys all the time! And always on the right ones.” Jungkook nods with a cocked eyebrow and a smug demeanour that he prays is enough to convince Jimin. But apparently it is not.
“I don’t believe you.” He, then, uncrosses his arms and pulls one leg up the chair to turn his body fully to Jungkook. “Hit on me.”
Jungkook almost chokes halfway his spoon of ice cream. He looks at Jimin with wide eyes. “What?!”
“Come on, flirt with me. I’m the type who always waits for guys to approach me in the club, so I’m a pretty good judge whether the flirting is good or not. I’ve got a lot of experience.” He reasons, for validation.
Jungkook swallows, completely taken off guard. “Ah… Ah, um, okay.” He nervously looks at Jimin’s face clueless of what to do next. Jimin quirks an eyebrow at him in response and Jungkook rolls his eyes.
“Come on, you flirty monster. Show me what you got.” He teases him, clearly amused by the situation.
But Jeon Jungkook never loses. Or so he tells himself. Either way, that’s what impells him to take a deep breath, calming his nerves, so he can cup Jimin’s jawline with one hand and slide it to the back of his neck  to bring the boy closer and not allow him to focus on anything else.
Jimin’s heart stops on his track. His breath catches on his throat and he’s scared his expression is giving away how fucking nervous he suddenly is. Jungkook is so close, and his cold hand slightly caressing his nape is doing nothing to ease the urge on his gut to grab the younger by the shoulders and kiss him breathless right there. Jimin can’t help but allow his eyes to drop and stare at Jungkook’s lips for an instant. They shine so red and seem so soft it’s physically painful for him to stay in that position. He bites the inner part of his bottom lip to remain with the plain expression.
“Hey there beautiful.” Jungkook murmurs, but if Jimin is being completely honest, he seems just as stunned as he himself is.
“Hey.” He responds, a lot more weakly than he intended.
Then, Jungkook goes silent. He goes silent and stares at Jimin as if he’s seeing his favorite flower for the first time – Jimin could risk to say the boy is in awe, but he thinks that would be pushing too hard; and a little bit of an overstatement too. So he settles for the most reasonable option that is Jungkook realizing he has no flirting skills or whatsoever and finding himself in the middle of a mental breakdown with no pick up line to use on Jimin. That could only be it. Jimin is halfway the process of convincing himself when Jungkook’s grip on his nape tighten just the slightest and his lips part, but no sound falls out of it. He watches intently as the younger’s mouth open and close in the most delicate of ways, trying to find the sentences he’s probably mustering in his mind. Jimin is almost entranced, so that’s why when Jungkook speaks it takes so long for the words to sink in him.
“You… you have the most beautiful eyes.”
Jimin blinks once. He blinks twice. And then all the nervousness bubbling inside his stomach exposes its ugly face by urging him to laugh out loud and he completely hates it, but he can’t stop himself. He’s so nervous his fingertips are tingling and he doesn’t know exactly how to act from there. No one has ever complimented his eyes, much less told him they were the most beautiful.
“What’s funny?” Jungkook asks. Jimin spares him a glance and is thankful to find out the boy doesn’t seem hurt or annoyed, just genuinely confused.
He tries to find his better way out of the situation. “Nothing, just… Are you trying to get laid or find a boyfriend?”
At that, Jungkook flushes. He mutters under his breath, “Who knows…”
Jimin looks at him startled. “What?!”
“What?!” Jungkook repeats on the same tone getting Jimin to lightly punch him on the shoulder.
“Brat.”
The boy scratches the back of his neck and looks away. Jimin doesn’t put much analysis into it. He follows the younger’s gaze until it stops at one boy a few tables across from them.
“There. Your guy.” Jungkook says all of a sudden.
Jimin acknowledges they’re not going to comment on Jungkook’s failed attempt to hit on him by an unspoken and mutual agreement. The moment was weird enough, despite Jimin’s laugher having eased the mood naturally. They didn’t need to stretch the matter for more awkward topics to surge from it. Maybe it also got Jungkook nervous – but for all the different reasons, Jimin supposes.
“What? Him?” he questions, in disbelief. “Jungkook, that guy is not gay.“
“He is.”
“He is not!”
“Don’t you trust me?”
“To be honest?”
“Okay, don’t answer that.”
Jimin shakes his head as laugher spills past his lips. He eyes the stranger Jungkook wants him to approach one more time. He’s relatively shorter than the first guy Jimin picked – totally not his type, but he has an open mind towards that –, has a dark blond hair that looks pretty good on him and an expression that definitely says “don’t come near me unless you want to be kicked”.
“Yeah, I’m not going there.”
Jungkook snorts beside him, but he doesn’t look exactly frustrated.
“Why not? He’s cute.”
“Yeah…” That wasn’t the word Jimin would use to describe the guy. “He’s not my type.”
“What?” Jungkook turns his body to completely face him. “You’re too picky!”
Jimin absorbs the sight in front of him for an instant – Jungkook has an arm resting on the backrest of the chair and the other placed on the table’s surface in a way it has all his muscles flexing. He bites his lips and diverts his gaze. Fuck, it all would be so much easier if Jungkook just wanted to fuck him. He was so hot.
“I’m not picky… I just have a type I prefer. I bet you do too.”
Jungkook doesn’t answer, just smirks as if he knows something Jimin doesn’t. “Okay, so apparently we won’t get anything here, let’s walk around.”
Jimin already feels all his force leaving him, because has he really just heard the word walk?
“Why do you hate me…” he whines and pouts. “We just walked a thousand miles to get here and you already want to walk again!”
Jungkook fucking laughs and pinches his cheeks. “Ah, cute.”
Jimin slaps his hand away, flushing. “Yah!”
“Ah, come on, hyung…” the younger pleas, and Jimin pulls out his best puppy eyes in order to convince him to remain where they are, comfortably sitting on those cozy chairs – they’re not cozy really, but after walking that long distance for twenty minutes under the scorching sun any object with a slightly fluffy surface is synonymous to coziest place to sit. “Please?”
Jimin snorts. Unbelievable. “Fine.” He says in between his teeth. Blame his weakness on Jungkook’s sparkling eyes. What the hell? By any chance, has he the universe hidden in them or something? “But I'mma finish my ice cream first.”
Jungkook smiles the brightest smile of the day.
“Okay!”
The mall was oddly empty for a friday afternoon, but thanks to that it was possible for the boys to absorb every detail of the deserted corridors. They found out some shops they didn’t even know it existed until today. Jungkook was watching everything with no particular interest – for God’s sake Jimin was right there by his side –, but Jimin was watching everything as if he had never been to a mall before.
“What is that?” Jimin points to a particular facade that catches the attention for the dark colors and creepy decoration.
Jungkook frows before it comes to him.
“Oh. It’s a haunted house.”
Jimin mouth drops. “No way.”
“What?”
“I’ve always wanted to go to a haunted house!” he slightly jumps in excitement by Jungkook’s side.
“Have you never been to a mall before?” Jungkook voices his genuine curiosity.
Jimin blushes and his eyes fall to the ground as if he was cut off in the middle of a speech about a thing he loves too dearly. Jungkook instantly regrets the question, his chest constricting at the sight of the embarrassed boy.
“I have, but… This feels different… somehow.”
Jungkook’s heart loses no time at responding to Jimin’s phrase, racing as if the older had just kissed him on the forehead. He wants to ask why it feels different, but he thinks he has intruded too much already.
“I’m sorry, that was rude to ask.”
“No, it wasn’t, it’s okay.” Jimin smiles his characteristic smile.
They fall silent for a moment and Jungkook hates himself even before the words get out of his mouth.
“Why does it feels different?”
Jimin is visibly flustered; caught off guard by a question he apparently doesn’t have the answer. He doesn’t look Jungkook in the eyes, blushing so hard the pink spreads to his ears.
“Well… Um, I don’t know? Like… just… different.” He bites his bottom lip, aware he didn’t answer Jungkook’s question: why? “Um… I… I… I don’t know, maybe because, like, I have never walked around like this, or… talked so much even while eating or… I don’t know, it just feels different, and I really really want to go to that haunted house, let’s go.” he grabs Jungkook’s hands in hurry, walking fast and pulling the younger with him.
Jungkook has to contain his smile, so he doesn’t get too obvious – or delusional. He doesn’t want to presume things just to find himself wrong in the end, but it’s kinda hard when Jimin gets so flustered at a simple question and so desperate to change subjects. Jungkook watches the tensioned boy’s back in front of him, covered by a loose white t-shirt, giving the illusion his shoulders are even smaller. Jungkook loves it. He watches his nape, almost entirely covered by long strands of black hair and feels nothing but the urge to run with his lips over its soft skin, observe as Jimin’s arm hairs bristle at the touch, how his breath will probably catch in his throat and how he’ll melt when Jungkook encircles his waist with his arms, bringing him closer. He know he will. He is sure Jimin’s attracted to him too. The problem is, that’s not the only thing Jungkook wants. He wants to kiss Jimin breathless, take off his clothes and fuck the breath out of him, of course he wants, but he also wants to kiss him dearly, spend an entire night talking over the phone, nevermind the morning classes. He wants to feel what all the cliché stories tell, wants to cuddle under a warm blanket because they turned the ac to its maximum, watching some poor show Netflix decided to produce. He wants it all and not just because he is desperate for a love story. He wants it all because he is desperate for Jimin. He doesn’t know if that should scare him, but it doesn’t. Maybe he is insane, completely infatuated for a boy that is not really a boy, but an angel; or Jimin is the Romilda Vane of this story and made him drink a love potion – in any of the ways, he can’t fight the truth. He is head over heels for a sweet smile, loving eyes and a melodic laugh that keeps ringing on his ears even in the quiet. He is head over heels for the plump lips, the tiny nose and the chubby fingers.
He is completely fucked up. He knows. Falling for a boy who doesn’t do relationships. Who has only done one night stands all his life; attached to the feelings, but not to the people.
What the hell is he supposed to do?
“Two tickets, please.” Jimin’s voice draws him out of his reveries.
“Are we really going?” he asks surprised. For what he knows about Jimin, the boy can’t even watch some horror movie without shrinking every ten seconds.
Jimin stares back at him as if the question was a challenge.
“Duh? Of course.”
The man inside the decorated cabin smiles creepily at them accordingly to his character – as he is supposed to do working on a haunted house. Talking about character, Jungkook is not entirely sure about what the man is disguised as. His face is painted completely white with a mix of black and red paint around his eyes. For a child, it’d look very terrifying, like someone had tried to rip his eyes off and failed, so just the dry blood and black bruises remained – for Jungkook (and he considers himself an adult) it just looks like a very very very bad makeup. He doesn’t flinch when the man murmurs “Are you sure?” for Jimin’s request of tickets, but the older takes a step back, hitting Jungkook’s chest behind him. Enjoying the situation, he laughs.
“You okay there, hyung?”
Jimin gulps. “Shut up.” he redirects himself to the man in front of him, “And yes, I’m sure. Two tickets, please.” he repeats more confidently.
Jungkook smiles softly and places his hand over Jimin’s lower back, absently drawing patterns on it with his thumb. The air that enters his lungs is filled with the scent of Jimin’s shampoo and he feels completely intoxicated by it. It gets his heart fluttering, squeezing in a manner that’s way too familiar inside his chest. He breathes in one more time. And another. Suddenly, an addict. He wants to feel it glued to his pillows, to his clothes. Maybe he’s overreacting. He feels like he is, but he also doesn’t give a single shit, because right now Jimin is staring with loving eyes straight to his face and Jungkook swears he could kiss him right there with no hesitation or whatsoever.
“Jungkook!” Jimin stomps his feet and calls him in a tone that’s supposed to sound annoyed – but he’s giggling, so it sounds just as adorable. Jungkook feels like it’s the third time his name is being called. He smiles.
“Yes?”
“What’s gotten you so into yourself?! Let’s go!”
Jimin grabs his forearm and starts walking towards the entrance. Jungkook is glad he didn’t wait for an answer, because he had any other apart from the truth. He allows himself to be guided, whilst his palm itches to be pulled up so it can hold Jimin’s hand, but he stops midway the action – he wants to see if Jimin is going to do it by himself.
It’s not an attitude out of pride or pettiness. Jungkook is just genuinely curious about how mutual his feelings are – if it’s any.
However, he finds himself licking his lips in anticipation, heart squeezing inside his chest when time enough passes and Jimin’s hand remains firm and still on his forearm. He has to disguise the disappointment on his face, so it doesn’t become perceptible and ruin the mood.
As they walk further into the house, the lights start to vanish more and more, until Jungkook can only make out the outline of Jimin’s profile in the dark. It’s unsettling – he has to admit –, someone could easily slip behind his back and stab him in this darkness, so his sensors get him on alert mode.
Eventually, Jimin lets go of his arm, but his body continues glued by his side. He gulps down the bad taste on his tongue – it wasn’t mutual after all. Jungkook was sure their tones had always been provocative enough to be considered casual, but he should have known Jimin was a natural – flirting was just like an involuntary action for him, it didn’t mean anything further from that. He should have known he was the only one affecting. God. How stupid.
“Jungkookie?” comes Jimin’s whisper. Jungkook only then realizes the quietness of the place – Jimin’s voice sounded so loud it seemed like he had just screamed.
“Yes?”
“I think I’m regretting this, I wanna go back.” he keeps whispering, sounding frightened to the bones. Jungkook feels Jimin’s hand searching for his in the dark, so he pulls back in a quick motion and scratches his nape.
Jimin turns around to look at him and he can’t actually make out the other’s expression in the shadows, but something inside him tells Jimin looks caught between being surprised and hurt. Jungkook averts his gaze, even though there’s nowhere else to look.
“Okay. Let’s go back.”
Jimin is about to say something, when they hear nails scratching a near wall and Jungkook actually cringes. What a motherfucking sound, it hurts his ears.
He starts to walk back to the entrance, Jimin’s steps following suit behind him. It’s not long after that he hits a wall he’s sure it’s not supposed to be there since they only walked forward, not having taken any curve or whatsoever.
“Uh, hyung?”
“What is it, what’s this?” Jimin asks with a trembling voice and Jungkook’s hearts aches with need to hold him into his arms. He sighs.
“I think they locked the entrance. We can’t go back unless we reach the end.”
“ What?! They fucking did what?!”
“Well, guess you shouldn’t have chosen the ‘most scary, don’t pee in your pants’ option.”
“I… I…” Jimin ducks his head and he seems so small. “I’m sorry.”
Jungkook sighs once again, looking away. “It’s okay. We just gotta get to the end. Let’s go.”
Jimin fiddles with his shirt before he decides to move, letting out a weak “okay” from his lips.
A tiny bit of what it seems like a guilty feeling sets inside Jungkook’s stomach, but he ignores it and keeps walking. He has nothing to be guilty for, if Jimin doesn’t feel the same he does, then he has no business in comforting him, right?
But he regrets the thoughts the moment they are born in his mind, and asks himself when he became so selfish and self-centered he can’t even take an unrequited crush without turning into a bitter 14 year old.
“Are the boys scared?” comes a weird voice out of nowhere and it resonates through the whole place. “Come, walk to me.”
Jimin jumps on his place. “Shit.” he has a hand over his chest.
Jungkook looks around to search the source of the voice, but finds no one. Of course he doesn’t, he can’t see shit.
“Here, hyung.” he swallows his pride. “Hold my hand.”
However Jimin walks straight up his extended fingers. “No, thanks.”
His words are harsh, but he sounds more pouty than anything else.
“Why not?” Jungkook follows him and tries not to sound offended.
“If you didn’t want to hold it before, I don’t want you to hold it out of pity now.”
Jungkook closes his eyes and allows himself to feel bad. He is seriously so stupid. What is he supposed to say? “I didn’t want to hold it, because you didn’t hold before and I assumed that because of that you didn’t like me the way I do”?
God, it sounds even more stupid when he puts it into actual words.
“What you talking about…” he says instead, but he sounds way too guilty to not know what he’s talking about, so he adds. “I just went to scratch my neck, it was itching.”
“Yeah, whatever.” Jimin mumbles while still walking ahead of him.
Jungkook grabs his arm so he can stop and look at him. “Are you seriously going to be mad at me because of this?” Closer like this, and after being on the darkness for a while, Jungkook can see Jimin’s face better. He senses a faint smile coming to claim his lips when he sees the older’s cute frown, so he fights it. “Don’t give me that face…” he can’t resist the urge to caress the boy’s cheeks with a thumb.
“m’ not mad.”
Jungkook straightforward smiles this time.
“Then why you pouting?”
“m’ not pouting either.”
“Sure, you’re not.” he chuckles, all of his worries suddenly erased by round pink cheeks.
“Why you laughing? I’m really not mad so let’s go.” Jimin grabs Jungkook’s hand on his face and pulls him forward with him.
“Thought you didn’t want to hold my hand…” Jungkook mutters teasingly, just to be slapped on the arm afterwards.
“Shut up.” he returns his focus to the front, body still stiff. “Bet the ghosts took advantage of we arguing to hide better.” he whispers. “Yah!” he suddenly yells at the nothing. “Where you assholes at?! Show up already, we paid you!”
“Hyung, you know they’re not real ghosts, right?”
“Of fucking course. This tension is killing me. Where’s the end of this shit.”
Jungkook laughs. “You swear a lot more when you’re scared.”
Jimin looks back at him with an insulted air. “Who’s scared here– AH!” he jolts and goes to hind behind the younger while frantically trying to wipe something off his nape, startling Jungkook. “Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck–”
“What, what?” he asks, trying to help him with the thing on his neck, but when he passes with his palm over it, it’s clean and dry. “What is it?”
“Just felt a cold breath on it, what the fuck.” he stops rubbing at the skin to look back. “Who’s there, you fuckin’ dipshit, what the fuck! Touch me and you’re dead, I'mma deck you right in the fucking face!”
Jungkook throws his head back and doesn’t hold his laugh. “Hyung, oh my god, calm down. You’re actually paying them to scare you.” Jimin doesn’t seem to care, still trying to find out who supposedly blown a breath on his neck. “And with whom you’re talking to, oh god.”
“These fuckers… They playin’ me.”
Jungkook doubles over, still laughing in the dead silent place. “Oh my god… I so wasn’t expecting this kind of reaction.”
Jimin blatantly ignores him, too focused on his pissed state of mind to hear, “Come.” he says and takes Jungkook’s hands, stomping down towards the end of the place.
But nearly a second after, someone hidden in the shadows grabs Jimin’s shin and climbs his leg by gripping his thigh with long and disgusting nails. Jungkook only has the time to look down and see a fake ass zombie makeup before Jimin as much as sinkshis knee on the guy’s face. A whimper of pain is heard throughout the entire place followed by the man falling down on the ground covering his nose.
“Oh my god?!” Jungkook gasps, utterly shocked. “Jimin!”
“Oh my god!” Jimin echoes him when reality crashes upon him and he realizes he had just kicked an employee on the face. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry–” he kneels before the guy, trying to take his hands away from his face so they can know the damage done. “Please, I’m so sorry, let me see how bad it is.” his voice is full of concern, and no matter how serious the situation is, Jungkook can’t help but be filled with an absurd want to laugh. Seriously, what the fuck. Who in the world pays to go into a haunted house and straightforward kicks someone in the face when getting scared?! Jungkook shakes his head watching the scene. He sure as hell got himself into a lot of trouble, so he doesn’t know how to explain why he is smiling.
•••
“I’d call that iconic. What about you?” Jungkook has been teasing Jimin for the past 20 minutes about his sudden outburst of violence in the haunted house.
“Shut up.”
“I’m pretty sure they’re changing the ‘most scary, don’t pee in your pants’ to ‘most scary, don’t kick us in the face’.”
Jimin huffs with something that Jungkook doesn’t distinguishes as a cry or a chuckle. Maybe both. When he looks back, the older has his face covered by tiny hands. “I’m so awful. Someone should prohibit me from walking out of home. I’m a threat.”
Jungkook giggles, taking the boy’s wrists on his hands and delicately pulling them down. “Believe me, you’re anything but a threat.”
Jimin scoffs, offended. “I just kicked a innocent on the face! I almost broke his nose. God, I’m lucky they didn’t call the cops or something.” he cries.
“Jimin.” Jungkook laughs in endearment. “It’s not that serious. He’s okay. You’re okay. Everyone’s okay. No need to suffer.”
“But–” the guy sulks, and for some reason Jungkook can’t explain he presses his thumb over his mouth. The sensation of Jimin’s lips against his skin tickles and burns, but he does his best not to show. Jimin looks up at him with big eyes that seem to reflect all the lights around them. He’s in a loss for words, suddenly aware of how close they are. He tries to inhale as much air as he can without being noticed and slides his thumb over Jimin’s entire lips’ length, back and forth.
“No pouting.” he whispers, letting his hand fall to Jimin’s shoulder.
“No pouting.” the older repeats. “Why not?”
Too cute for me to resist.
“You’re prettier smiling.” he lies. Jimin’s beautiful in every single way.
“You calling me ugly when pouting?!”
“No, just– Prettier. I said prettier!”
“So, you calling me beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, absolutely mesmerizing, that takes your breath away?” he dramatizes with a giggle, but Jungkook is unable to deny.
“Yes.”
At that, Jimin falls silent – his smile disappearing in tune with his cheeks reddening.
Jungkook bites his lower lip, hearing his heart beat on his throat, and takes the hand on Jimin’s shoulder to the back of his neck. He curls his fingers on the boy’s hair resting there and feels slightly overwhelmed by the softness of it. Jimin is watching him with parted red lips and a pair of rosy cheeks that gets Jungkook closing the distance between them in a second. But before their lips can touch, he hears Taehyung’s deep voice screaming his name resound through the entire place. Jungkook all but jumps on his spot, jolting Jimin too, who instantly detaches himself from his arms. Jungkook pretend the action doesn’t hurt him like a punch in the gut. When he looks back, Taehyung is bouncing his way till them while waving like an excited child – big smile glued to his lips. Jungkook feels his cheeks heating and scratches his nape, not throwing a single glance towards Jimin.
“Jungkookie! Oh. And Jiminie too, what a meeting!” he reaches them and it’s only then Jungkook realizes he’s got company.
“Hey!” he forces a smile into him he sure as hell doesn’t want to give. Actually, he could pretty much just happily pretend Taehyung’s face is a  ball and offer it to the World Cup to play its matches with it. For free. But he’s a polite man – as polite as burping in public is considered –, so he just tilts his head to the other man by Taehyung’s side and doesn’t let his smile falter before his beauty. It never faltered beside Jimin, so it shouldn’t now. “Hello you.”
The blonde guy ducks his head in greeting. “Hello, I’m Taemin, a friend of Taehyung’s friend.” he chuckles, “I just moved into the town, nice to meet you!” his smile is so sweet Jungkook’s bitterness for the interruption almost melts.
“Ah! Nice to meet you, I’m Jungkook!”
“I know, Taehyung has only been talking ‘bout you all day.”
“He can’t help it, he’s head over heels for me.”
Taehyung scoffs. They both laugh and Taemin redirects his gaze to Jimin. “And you must be Jimin… Taehyung should have told me he had a friend this gorgeous.”
Jungkook frowns, offended, but looks away so no one notices.
“Ah, thank you.” Jimin says in that flushed tone he uses when Jungkook makes him embarrassed. It’s awkward to see it directed to someone else. “It’s nice to meet you, Taemin-ssi.”
They exchange smiles for way too long to be casual in Jungkook’s opinion, until Taehyung interrupts:
“So? Are you two on a date?”
Taemin seems suddenly taken aback by this question, and, somehow, this just makes Jungkook more pissed – the clear interest of Taemin in Jimin, for some reason, making him feel extremely uncomfortable on his own skin. Maybe is because Taemin is too pretty.
He doesn’t know what gets into him. He wants more than ever to confirm, to say that yes, they are on a date. But, perhaps he’s too scared to hear Jimin’s voice denying it. It may hurt more than he expects. So instead he just shifts his gaze to the ground and mutters:
“As if.”
By the way Jimin’s posture changes beside him, it seems like he’s offended – maybe even hurt –, but Jungkook doesn’t have the heart to look him in the face, so he remains on his position and waits for the older to say something.
“Ah…” his voice seems small, “Yes,” but it quickly lights up again as its usual, “Jungkook was just trying to be my cupid, but I think we got too lost in the wonders of the mall.” he giggles cutely and Jungkook all but instantly feels guilty about his previous answer. A simple ‘no, we’re not’ would have done it. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
“Cupid?” Taehyung’s voice peaks with interest. “What do you mean?”
Jungkook tries to make it up for his harsh tone before and answers softly:
“Jimin has never gone to a date before. So I was trying to set him up with someone to prove a point.”
“Which is?” Taemin takes part in the conversation, and it doesn’t matter how much he wants to, Jungkook can’t bring himself to talk dryly at him. His features are too nice. And even though he knows he shouldn’t let himself be swept away for a cute face so easily, he was never able to help it.
“That dates are cool.”
Taemin nods in agreement. “Oh, yeah, dates are cool.”
“See?!” Jungkook takes the chance to reafirm his point, to which Jimin just roll his eyes.
“But are you sure you two weren’t on a date? Looking by far, I’d say you two were pretty close to not be on a date.” Taehyung insists.
Jimin ducks his head, cheeks pink, and it falls on Jungkook to come up with a lie. He doesn’t even know why he’s lying to begin with. But still.
“Told you we’re not.” Jungkook stutters, when he remembers in which position Taehyung found them, but then he reassures himself it’s all good by also remembering that 1: he and Taemin were distant from them and 2: they could only see his back by that angle. So okay, they were good. “I was just taking a thing out of his eyes.”
“Yeah, sure.” Taehyung mocks. “I’ll ask you to take a thing out of my eye later night.” That meant when they got home he’d pester Jungkook until he told him everything.
Jungkook notices Jimin’s eyes widening a bit, but the boy soon finds his composure, fixing his hair and focusing his attention on something else.
“Didn’t know you guys had this close of a friendship.” Taemin joins Taehyung’s play and looks all but too pleased, if the glow in his eyes is to say anything.
Jungkook watches Jimin’s reaction closely, but the boy is still avoiding eye contact, expression unreadable.
“He’s my best company on lonely nights.” Taehyung adds in a dreamy tone, so Jungkook kicks him.
“Aish, enough already.”
Ever so maturely, Taehyung sticks out his tongue, a smirk hidden in the corner of his lips he makes sure his best friend sees. Jungkook rolls his eyes at that.
“Okay, enough, but, if you two aren’t on a date…” he regains Jimin’s attention with these words, “and apparently haven’t found a date for Jiminie yet…” Oh no – Jungkook knows what’s to come. He shoots bullets with his eyes at the stupid dumbass, but it’s useless. “Why don’t he go out with Taemin-hyung? It’s a double-kill – hyung gets to meet the city and go out with Jiminie and Jimin gets to go on a date! Perfect!”
Yeah, except that no.
Taehyung gets so much on Jungkook’s nerves sometimes, because he’s got this silly personality, so it makes everyone think he’s as thick as walls, but he’s actually so observant it’d shock them all to the core. It is why Jungkook is getting so pissed. Taehyung knows pretty damn well his intentions and yet, he’s still in front of him trying to set a date between Taemin and Jimin as if it’s fucking nothing. Jungkook decides to not talk with him for the rest of the day. And he means it.
He remains quiet overall. He doesn’t want to seem like he’s in too deep just to scare Jimin away. So against all the cells in his body in alert mode, begging for him to step in – even if it’s just to crack a joke and make it all seem funny –, he doesn’t. Perhaps he’s also curious about Jimin’s reaction, so there’s that. He searches for the older’s eyes and is caught by surprise at the realization that the boy is watching him.
Jungkook wonders if he’s also waiting for a reaction. He wants to express one. He wants so bad. He’s about to, when Taemin smiles the brightest smile and lights up the entire place.
“Oh! That sounds like a plan. I like it! What about you, Jimin? Would you like to go on a date with me?” from the moment the first word slips out of Taemin’s mouth Jungkook already knows it’s a lost case. It just needs a quick glance to his sparkly expression to understand a “no” isn’t in the list of options for Jimin’s answers. Jungkook lowers his gaze and tries to block the sound of Jimin’s voice when he accepts it. It kinda hurts his chest. He ignores the entire conversation from that point forward. He doesn’t want to listen any of it.
The four of them walk home together – Jungkook drowning in silence while he texts Namjoon all the way back and pretends it’s the most interesting thing he’s done all day. He doesn’t look up to see Jimin’s face when they say goodbye.
