Cortinarius violaceus?

FOTD #044 : violet cort! (cortinarius violaceus)

the violet cort / violet webcap is an agaric fungus in the family cortinariaceae. this fungus forms symbiotic relationships with the roots of various plant species, & is most commonly found in north america, asia & europe !!

the big question : can i bite it?? this fungus is labelled 'inedible', but can also be considered 'edible but not choice'.

c. violaceus description :

"the fruit bodies are dark purple mushrooms with caps up to 15 cm (6 in) across, sporting gills underneath. the stalk measures 6 to 12 centimetres (2+1⁄3 to 4+2⁄3 in) by 1 to 2 cm (3⁄8 to 3⁄4 in), sometimes with a thicker base. the dark flesh has a smell reminiscent of cedar wood."

Cortinarius violaceus, common name; Violet Webcap. A lovely purple mushroom. Typically with a tall stipe and textured cap. Some say they are edible but just not worth it as they do not taste as distinct as they look. However consuming them may cause extreme stomach pain and other adverse health affects. It is recommended not to consume any type of cortinarius mushrooms due to this common trait.

I was looking up references for a future drawing, and I think I might've found Cordelius' name origin!

Meet the Cortinarius Violaceus, the violet webcap. Definitely gonna be using these are reference when working on my Cordy designs + dragon version.

Additionally, a mutual told me about a mushroom called cordyceps (PLEASE be wary of googling, I got spooked because they're a bit funky. They're also called caterpillar fungus for a reason!)

I think this name fits him more, but I found it cool that the purple mushroom in particular had a name like that! Brawl Stars is really neat with their naming heh.

Sooooo this may seem nerdy but I couldn't do a redesign of poison mushroom cookie without searching about POISONOUS MUSHROOMS OK-

So if poison mushroom hasn't been confirmed an actual type of mushroom I suspect they are one of these (a amanita muscaria) but purple- since amanita muscaria is a poisonius mushrooms and it has those little spots-

OR!

They are a "cortinarius violaceus" which ARE edible mushrooms (though they aren't recommended) yet it doesn't contain any poison which makes it a bit improbable of poison mushroom cookie being one… BUT ITS OURPLE TOO-

SO!

OR THIS DANM CHILD IS ONE OF THOSE MUSHROOMS (or like literally any other mushroom my research sadly didn't reach because I'm too dumb-)

OR they are a fictional mushroom and I DUCKING wasted my time searching-
