coral Bleaching
Tumblr media
Coral has been reacting negatively in its environment recently, you may know this as coral bleaching. Water temperatures have been increasing at a rapid rate and it is affecting the coral. When the water becomes to warm the algae inside the corals tissues start to expel, this causes the coral to lose all of its colour and will turn completely white which is also the start of the bleaching. This does not mean the coral is dead just yet, but if not helped soon, it will die. The coral goes through four stages. First it is healthy with its normal colours but as the bleaching starts to hit, you will notice it to become more of a florescent colour instead, that is the first stage of the bleaching. When the bleaching becomes more severe, it becomes completely white. If not stopped soon then it will die, at this stage the coral becomes a brown and it will start to develop algae around it.
You can find Coral in many places, but it is mostly found in more tropical areas. Coral bleaching can leave a big impact on its environment because so much of the life that lives there depends on the coral to survive, it is used as food and shelter and if taken away it can also lead to losing other sea life. The bleaching can also harm the environment in other ways, it can cause sedimentation, which is related to a decrease in light levels, as well as suffocation of sessile marine life. Not only is the coral important to its environment, it is also important to us. Coral can be used in the process of treating some diseases such as heart disease and cancer. Without the coral, there is a lower chance of getting these people the right medical care that can help them.
The major cause of Coral bleaching is Global warming. This has made the bleaching out of our control and the Coral is dying faster than ever before, if we don’t find a way to stop this, we might never have the chance to see the coral reefs again.

【Yahoo
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
