We know about the girls, now tells us about the boys (aka the OTP).
For a moment I misunderstood and thought you were requesting profiles of the male protagonists.
I have so many pairings, though! I couldn't possibly share my thoughts on all of them in a single post, so I'll limit myself to three here.
🤎Conflictingshipping🤎
When they were children, Green told anyone who would listen he was going to marry Leaf when they were grown up.
But now that they are grown up, or throughout the events of FireRed and LeafGreen and a little beyond that, he vehemently denies ever uttering such a thing.
Leaf doesn't demand he stay true to his childhood promise, but it does deeply sadden her how different his treatment of her is now compared to when they were smaller.
🤎SoulSilvershipping🤎
Silver never calls anyone by their actual name. Instead, he gives everybody he comes across some derogatory moniker. Kotone is referred to exclusively as 'pigtails' (and Hikari is 'sockhead' to him after he encounters her much later at the Battle Zone).
So when Silver finally calls Kotone by her name, it's an important step in their relationship! I can't envision him ever using terms of affection, so the simple act of saying her name and the tone it's said in holds a significant weight between the two.
🤎Kalosshipping🤎
I've pondered about a scenario that takes place shortly after X and Y's postgame where Serena invites Calem to a formal event, a Lapras Conservation Charity Gala, as her plus one.
Her father isn't exactly pleased to receive the news his precious daughter has selected a boy to accompany her.
And Calem knows nothing about ballroom dancing! Thankfully, his friend Tierno does, and is more than willing to teach him. Yes, he could certainly ask Serena to instruct him instead, but he wants to impress her with his smooth moves at the gala~.

special and oldrival ship~~
"There's only two rooms left?"
"Yes," the receptionist, Joy, nodded, "unfortunately, part of our little inn also doubles as a home for the elderly, since it is a small village. We don't have any more than two rooms left, at the time being..."
"Two should be enough," Green answered, looking at the younger, "what do you need more for?"
Yellow hesitated, "I mean, just in case Inspector Red comes... to check out the crime sight."
"He's not coming." Green deduced, coldly.
Yellow smiled nervously, "By the way, Detective, isn't it about time you give me back my i2 program by now?"
"Not like you know how to use it," Green took out his phone and pressed something, "but here you go."
"Registration complete. Detective Yellow."
"Yellow!"
The yell from down the corridor made everyone in the receptionist's area look ahead, at the guy who had come running in, hair and clothes disheveled.
"You're okay, Detective?" Red spoke, worriedly as he scanned the younger's face, "I came back as fast as I could."
"I can vouch for that," Blue answered their questioning expressions with a smile, "it was so cute to see him running back to his friends."
Yellow smiled, trying her best to swallow down the heart ache that was going on inside her at the sight of Red holding another's hand-
"They're not just my friends, they're my colleagues," Red answered taking his hand away from Blue's, "don't tease them now."
"I'm glad you both could come, Inspector," Yellow interrupted, sounding as cheery as possible, "this is Detective Green. I think you've met him once before, Miss Blue!"
"What a hottie!" Blue answered immediately, extending a hand, "Hi, nice to meet you!"
Yellow frowned, immediately looking at Red, wondering at his expression. Was he really okay with his woman flirting with others?
Green stared at the other girl's hand for a while, before speaking. "Am I really supposed to associate with people like this?"
You shouldn't be saying such things out loud if you do think them, Detective Green, Yellow thought to herself, getting nervous, that's not a good way of treating people!
"Oh! I love hot guys who play hard to get! Those are the best kind..." Blue's voice lowered to a seductive whisper, "in bed!"
Yellow could've almost fainted at that if she wanted. She was feeling lightheaded. What was going on?
"I'm not the kind of man whose standards go out the window just for getting a woman in bed," Green answered coolly, "especially not the desperate and annoying kind."
"That's well and all, because I'm such a high standard lady! And really what good would it be if you were easy?" Blue laughed a bit, hand close to her mouth, "So brawny!"
Green sighed, almost with loaded frustration, before looking at Yellow, "I'm not sure I can stay here much longer. You lot can play amongst yourselves."
No, no, she couldn't let Green leave like that! He had such important details about the case!
"How about you stop your hard to get act and tell me what you really think?" Blue answered, laughing prettily.
"Even if I played hard to get, I'd be more willing to do it to win over a dead body than you." Was Green's snobby reply.
Yellow's gaze flitted over to her senior, who looked deeply in thought. Was Red that worried about Blue flirting with someone else? She needed to distract them, quick- "Aren't you guys curious why Detective Green is here?" She spoke up, changing the topic, as Green gave her a confused look. "He's here to investigate the same case as us!"
More than likely judging by the look on his face, he was extremely displeased that Yellow had told them that about him. But what could Yellow have done? Her mind was somewhere else anyway.
"I had a feeling that was the case," Red answered, looking at the younger, "but I was meaning to ask you, Yellow, what's that on your cheek? You look a bit worse for the wear."
She touched her cheek, a little surprised to see there was a little blood on it. Was it from the body? She hadn't noticed. "Don't worry about it, Inspector," she answered bravely, "I'll tell you later about it. I mean, a lot happened! And we found something- But seriously, we have to decide our rooms first. You guys are staying the night just like us, right?"
"Of course, cute one," Blue answered immediately with a flirtatious wink, "I'd love to stay over, but for some reason, I don't see that hot guy anymore!"
Amidst her laugh, Yellow released that Detective Green was in fact, gone! How had he managed to do that?
"That guy already booked a room while you were talking amongst yourselves," receptionist Joy reported nervously, "I'm afraid, now, that there's only one room left. And a bed that only fits two."
Only one room left?
And one bed?
Obviously Red was going to want to share it...
With Blue.
Yellow retreated, a little bit, "It's okay- I'll find some place else-"
"What are you talking about?" Was Red's immediate reply, "It's more dangerous for you guys, I'll sleep outside. And keep watch."
"But- I came here to help," Yellow answered, "not hinder-"
"You know I'm tired of listening to you two cuties blabber on and on," Blue spoke out of nowhere, shoving Red out of the way from her sight with her deceivingly strong arms, "how about I'm the one who doesn't sleep here? I have to get going anyway. And my car's quite fast, you see, it's a Mercedes!" Her quirky laughter followed suit, "I should be back home in no time at this rate."
"You came all the way here," Red answered, frowning, "you can't just leave."
"Admittedly I just came here to see the hot Detective you guys talk about sometimes," Blue replied merrily, "I think I've seen what I've needed to see-"
"But that's-"
"I'll seduce him later when I have more energy, but unfortunately for now I have to get going," Blue answered with a delightful smile, already on the way back before Red could even say anything, but not before stopping- "By the way, Red, take care of your girl here, okay?"
What did she mean? How would he take care of her girl when she was leaving? Yellow was so confused...

Flirt (Young Love To Be)

Prompt 69: Flirt
Title: Flirt (Young Love To Be)
Ship: Conflictingshipping | Blue/Leaf
Fandom: Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green
Word Count: 4,706
Rating: T
Premise: Boys are only mean to you because they like you.
Tags: Mid-Canon, Awkward Flirting, Gift Giving, Rivalry, Crushes, Idiots in Love, Mutual Pining, Period Typical Sexism
Boys are the most irritating thing in the whole wide world and beyond, or says Leaf in all her infinite wisdom of being a little bit more than fourteen years old.
Sure Leaf has only seen a little bit of the world but she still knows this for a fact. In all her travels around her hometown and beyond, she has seriously never met a boy more irritating than her childhood friend and rival, Blue.
Leaf has grown up with one particular and irritating boy all her life, he seriously takes the cake when it comes to annoying her. No other boy she has met has even come close to being even a fraction as annoying as him and she has met some annoying boys in her time. That weirdo kid who is always saying how comfy and easy shorts are? Not even he, as wrong as he is, as skirts are far superior, is as annoying as Blue is to Leaf.
Blue is the son of her next-door neighbours, the grandson of an esteemed Pokemon professor, and is only slightly older than her. By literally all of two months. He is also taller than her with an extra height on her of two inches. Literally just two months and two inches! And yet, for some unknown reason, he thinks that being older, taller, and more boyish than her makes him better than her.
   Honestly, Blue, grow up.
Girls can do anything that boys do and you know what? Leaf would like to bet up that girls - and her in particular - can do anything that boys do. Maybe even better. Leaf would seriously contend that she can do anything that Blue does and better. She even had the badges to prove it. They glistened on the inside of her pretty and precious case.
They are about even in score, Blue and Leaf and yet Blue still parades around like he is better than everyone.  And nothing pisses Leaf off more than this absolutely stinky, self-important attitude. He always has his nose in the air, his head in the clouds, and his arms folded in front of his chest as he beats on and on about how good he is.
   “Smell you later, Leaf.”
That taunt is Leaf's least favourite of all the rote and trite insults in Blue's vocabulary and arsenal. Yet it’s probably because she hates so much that Blue loves to use it the most on her. Opening bonjour and always ending on “Smell you later” because it gets on her nerves.
And right now, Blue was super smarmy that he made it to Celadon City first. Though, he wasn't expecting her so soon.
They had even met in the most random of places in Celadon City. Not the gym, in or around outside, but in the Celadon Department Store of all places. Blue put on airs as he lectured her on responsible shopping and not spending all her pocket money that her mum gave her on frivolous things. A warning that Leaf did not need. She already had some common sense about spending money wisely and budgeting. Seriously, she can look after herself. She's not a little kid and has been on the road as long as he has.
Sure enough, that put Blue in his place. Making Leaf smile as she had won that little war of the words. His sheepishness when he saw her grinded Leaf's gears. She wasn't looking to pick a fight here any time soon with Blue but just once, it would be nice if he didn't underestimate her.
Though, it did strike Leaf as strange that he was in the ladies’ goods aisle of the department store where they had found themselves in. All bright lights and white, vinyl flooring as far as the eye can see, shelves upon shelves stocked with fancy goods like makeup, chocolates, and perfumes.
Well, actually, now that Leaf thought about it, Blue did have an older sister named Daisy so maybe he was here for her? But that would mean that he was doing something considerate for her. There was no way he was anything but a bratty younger brother to her.
“So what brings you here anyway?” Leaf asked as she suspiciously crossed her arms.
“Oh, um, you know. The usual.” Blue replied.
“The usual?” Leaf jutted out her chin as she echoed the very non-specific reply that Blue had given her.
“Well yeah.” Blue defended himself but not very well.
“You can just say you’re doing something nice for your sister, you know.” Leaf pointed out.
Blue’s eyes lit up. Oh thank goodness they practically said in the shine of the hazel of his eyes. His body language became uncharacteristically unguarded as he put his hands on his hips and totally jumped about Leaf’s assumption.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m just doing something for my big sis. What kind of perfume do you think she'd like?” Blue asked.
Leaf shrugged, “What does she normally get?” Though as soon as those words left her mouth, she realised the folly of them. If he had to ask, he probably didn’t know. Classic little brother behaviour - or so says the only child.
Sure enough, Blue shrugged and replied, “Dunno.”
An awkward silence ensued for a second or two longer than Leaf would have liked. It was weird having nothing to talk about between them.
“So, um, what do you like? Maybe I can get her something based on that? I mean, you're a girl, aren't you?” Blue asked.
“What's that supposed to mean?” Leaf snarled. “You don't think I’m girly or something?”
“Yes.” Blue flatly replied. “You’re a girl but you're not a girly-girl like my older sister is.”
Leaf didn't want to admit it but Blue was right. Daisy was notoriously girly. She was all high teas and fashion magazines and hot gossip. Her hobby was giving massages! That was such a feminine and elegant hobby to have. Daisy wasn’t anything like Leaf who was small, frumpy, and loved to play in the mud when she was younger. Again, totally unlike Daisy who hated to even risk breaking a nail.
“Um, well, I like, uh…” Leaf faltered with her words. She didn’t really know what she liked. She just liked what she liked. It was really that simple, honest.
“Too hard a question for ya, eh?” Blue taunted her.
“Oh shut up, it’s just a weird question. I like flowers. And I like chocolate and honey and stuff.” Leaf rambled but in the least helpful way possible. Her voice trailed off as she chewed her bottom lip and furrowed her (unplucked) brows.
It’s not like she never thought about these days. Leaf would predict that most girls thought about what they would like to wear as perfume and who would give it to them. That perfect boy...
And just what was the perfect boy like, she wondered?
One who wasn't annoying and felt the need to be as competitive as possible all the time and wouldn't bug her for being shorter or younger than him. Maybe he would have big brown eyes and a kind smile, a good sense of humour. And the ability to pick out good gifts when she didn't know what she wanted. Because flowers, chocolate, honey, and stuff were pretty vague, Leaf had to admit.
Even so, Blue nodded. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully as though Leaf was speaking gospel. She felt flattered, that maybe she was on the right track with giving Blue gift ideas for his older sister.
“That’s a good start, plenty helpful,” Blue said, “and it would be even more helpful if you helped me pick out some samples. You know. Make sure the old toilet eau parfum doesn't smell like toilet.”
Leaf wasn't proud of it but that did get a giggle out of her.
Fancy-schmancy perfume did have a habit of sounding only like it would smell beautiful but only on paper. Take bergamot for example. Beautiful sounding word with an excellent mouth feel but the first time that Leaf had actually smelt in real life? She could have gagged.
“Yeah, I can help with that.” Leaf replied, not thinking much of it.
That must have given Blue the inspiration that he was in dire need of. At least temporarily.
He took her by her hand suddenly and dragged her closer to the locked perfume cabinet where they kept the good stuff. Everybody knows that the pretty boxed perfumes on the shelves were the cheap kiddy-grade stuff. If Blue was serious about getting his mature, older sister a gift, then he needed the premium brands if he wanted to impress.
Still, Leaf hadn’t been expecting for him to take her hand like that. His hand was bigger than hers. Maybe being two inches taller and two months older really did matter. Maybe it really did symbolise some kind of gulf between them despite her efforts to trample all over it…
Leaf stumbled slightly as she struggled to keep up with him on such short notice as he parked them like a car in front of the locked cabinet - and put his other hand out so he could get some staff assistance.
His waving and indoor voice shouting got someone's attention. The floor assistant was an older woman with kind eyes and short, curly hair. She wore a pristine, red blouse to signify her employment. She walked over curtly to help Blue and by extension, Leaf. So they better be on their best behaviour with a stranger, especially one who looks as respectable as she does in her department store flair.
“How can I help?” she asked, bright and cheerful.
“I'm picking out a present for someone special to me.” Blue began. He sounded a touch more rambly than he usually did. He even fidgeted with his fingers as a scant blush took colour in his cheeks.
Very strange, Leaf observed, as the shop lady laughed, “Oh I see,” she said, sounding all-knowing and nodding her head, “you are buying your girlfriend here a present. How sweet of you, sonny-boy.”
“What? No!” both Leaf and Blue exclaimed in nigh perfect synchronicity.
Now it was Leaf blushing, too. “He is not my boyfriend.” Leaf quickly disavowed Blue.
“Yeah, who would want a brutish girl like Leaf.” Blue stammered. “No one, that's who. We're just friends.”
“And rivals.” Leaf added. She tried very hard to stomp of Blue's foot but he moved his foot out of the way so the best she could do was menace him with her exemplified brutishness.
The shop lady laughed apologetically, “My mistake.”
“Yeah, I'm just trying to pick out a gift for my sister. Not her.” Blue said.
“And I'm just trying to help.” Leaf added.
“I see, I see,” the woman said, “well, how can I help you? Do you have something in mind or can I make a recommendation?”
Leaf and Blue exchanged an awkward look.
“Well?” Leaf prompted Blue. “Does your sister have any particular likes? You know, like chocolate or flowers or I don’t know, honey?”
“How the heck should I know?” Blue grumbled.
“You're her brother, that's why.” Leaf folded her arms in front of her and frowned. Geez, what a brat.
Blue made a strangled noise and huffed, “Okay, I don't know. Pretty smells. You tell us, lady.”
The shopwoman paused. She was more amused than she should have been by the back and forth between Leaf and Blue. It was apparent they had a good rapport going, even if they were just friends and more importantly, just rivals.
“Well, these are good selections when you don’t know someone’s likes and dislikes. Not too overpowering, just sweet enough to be noticed. Not to mention, affordable on a child’s allowance and trainer’s earnings.”
That didn't sound too bad. Leaf and Blue both looked at the lady pointing. She was highlighting a particular brand of perfume which was pretty but not gaudy. It came in a pale yellow box with goldenrod writing across it, the font of which was sweeping yet classically serifed without being illegible or too over the top. The brand was called Flirt and it had a tagline which promised young love to be.
“Yeah, sure,” Blue said with a shrug, he shoved his hands in his pockets, he was being a dweeb, “let's try it.”
“Good idea.” the shop assistant agreed. “So who shall be the lucky Psyduck?”
“Leaf will be.” Blue piped up.
   “What? Why?” Leaf replied.
“Because you offered to help.” Blue said.
Leaf turned sheepish but she did open up. She supposed it made sense. She just thought she was being moral support, truth be told. This was a present for Daisy, after all! She looked up to her but wasn't as close to her as her brother should be.
“Just hold out your wrist and I will dab a sample there. you two decide if you like it or not. If not, I have plenty more recommendations that I can make.” the shop assistant.
“Okay then.” Leaf said, slightly nervous, but she did as she was told.
Leaf held out her wrist for the shop assistant who took out the sample bottle belonging to the type of perfume they were considering. The bottle was beautiful, shaped like a genie’s glass, pure crystal with shiny vertices. At the top of which was its pointy, golden crown, when removed the perfume's retainer was exposed and with a spritz, Leaf was squirted with a light shimmer of the perfume.
It tickled Leaf’s skin and she felt her nose crinkle. The airy-watery combination caught her unaware but once it settled, it smelt beautiful. It reminded her of sunlight in a distant meadow full of flowers. She sighed contentedly. The perfume was simply heavenly, she smiled.
Personally, with this level of sample satisfaction, Leaf thought she may have found the signature scent not just for herself but for Blue’s sister, too. Obviously. Daisy was the intended recipient, after all.
Blue, meanwhile, hovered close to her. A bit too close, in Leaf’s opinion. But then again, maybe he couldn't smell from standing where he had been before. So, to be a helpful friend, she all but shoved her hand in Blue’s face.
   “Watch out.” he grouched.
The shop assistant giggled, “I think you two can take it over from here but if you need anything, just sing out.”
“Thanks, ma’am,” Leaf said, “we appreciate it.”
The woman nodded and she closed the cabinet again. She locked it up with a cinch and a click then moseyed off.
“Hold still.” Blue said. “I can't smell it when you wave around too much.”
   “Sorry.” Leaf said.
She hadn’t meant to but she had instinctively tried to wave the shop assistant goodbye. Even if it was only temporary as the woman appeared to be the cashier over in the makeup section. So, Leaf stilled herself but to make absolutely sure that Blue could smell the perfume on her, he took matters into his own hands.
He took his hands out of his pockets and he held Leaf’s wrist. Gently, of course. But even so, the gesture took Leaf by surprise. She didn't know but her heart skipped as once more she became all too aware of how Blue’s hands cupped her own. Again, so noticeably large and, well, teenage boy-ish. They weren't going to be kids forever.
Blue leaned in and he put his nose to Leaf's wrist. She all but felt the tip of his nose graze her skin, she could feel his warm exhale on her wrist. It prickled on her skin, like goosebumps. Her heart began to pound. His lips. They were so close, also, puckered just slightly to give the impression of-
   No way.
Blue wouldn't do that. He didn’t have a romantic bone in his body. Nor did she, Leaf would readily admit but even so. She was the one to have thought it. That his lips were in such close proximity to the inner of her wrist, that he could very well kiss her there. Right atop her pulse which throbbed. She felt her cheeks go warm with a red blush.
“D-Does it smell good?” Leaf asked and she cursed herself for it.
There had to have been a better way to have phrased that, surely. But Leaf didn’t know what it was. All she knew was that embarrassment felt clunky on her tongue as she over-complicated and thought way too much about what was just an innocent gesture. If a little mistaken on her own end because Blue didn’t seem perturbed at all.
“Yeah, it does…” Blue said and he let go of her hand.
Leaf swallowed. She could still feel the presence of Blue’s hand on her wrist. It was weighty but merely an afterimage of being held for what had been... not at all that long at all and yet, for Leaf, it felt like an eternity in of itself. A moment suspended in time.
“I - I guess I'll buy it. Seems bang for my buck, I guess.” Blue said and it was strange but, it was as though his teeth were chattering. There went his hands into his pockets again.
“Y-Yeah.” Leaf agreed and she felt a lump in her throat. “I bet Daisy will love it.”
“Sounds good.” G said. As if he wasn’t the one who was buying the perfume in the first place.
They stood awkwardly. Staring at each other’s shoes. Leaf didn't really know why but it was difficult to just simply move away from beside the perfume cabinet. It just was really to do so. It was almost as if she didn't want to say goodbye to Blue.
Which was really strange. Whenever he got her on her nerves too much, the only thing she wanted to do was be in a completely different region, no continent, to be honest. Now, they were all but glued together and also to the tiles in the department store.
Luckily, Blue was a big boy and he knew how to use his wallet and pay for the perfume using cash. He didn’t need Leaf to supervise him doing that so eventually, they went their separate ways not only in the department store but for a while in general. They were both on their own big, epic journey, after all. Clashing only occasionally to see who was doing better in their quest to catch them all and defeat all the Gym Leaders of the Kanto Region.
It would have been several weeks since they last saw each other at Celadon City’s department store. Leaf would love to say that she hadn't thought about Blue or the debacle surrounding him buying perfume since but. She really did want to know if Daisy liked it. It was a very considerate thing for him to do.
But it wasn’t just that. Neighbourly goodwill and being childhood friends and all that. There was something more to it which was why it kept replaying on Leaf’s mind.
Every so often in these past weeks, about a month really, Leaf just thought about it. Maybe she needed more friends. More people to laugh and hang out with but there weren't very many kids in her hometown, it really was just her and Blue. Maybe that's why she kept replaying those moments in her head, did she say the right thing? What if Daisy ended up hating the perfume because Blue was influenced by what she liked? surely not. A good deed was worth its own reward but that didn't explain the... Leaf didn't really know how to put it because it was the stuff of stupid schoolgirl fantasies.
But, it was just, she kept thinking about Blue and how close he had come to kissing her wrist. That was more the stuff of M-rated movies. It seemed like the kind of thing that would be in this film Leaf half-watched with her mother one time, where the two leads met at a party through the aquarium and they ended up slow dancing together while they wore the costumes of an angel and a knight. It was that sort of ethereal, gauzy, romantic thing that Blue would never be able to conceive in a million years.
Leaf just hoped that she said the right things but the way her heart pounded made her worry that she may have messed things up for Blue. That had to be the only explanation for why her heart kept racing whenever she thought about G in the department store again. That had to be it. She was just being concerned and anxious over some dumb, random thing.
That had to be it. Leaf was merely concerned that she hadn’t been the most helpful friend when Blue had asked her to be. She could have said this or done that a bit better. Seriously?! She could have voiced with more conviction that she liked chocolate, honey, and flowers. All really beautiful scents that would make for a wonderful perfume to give as a gift. Maybe that would have cut down on the waffle and making an embarrassment of themselves in front of the shop assistant. Seriously, them?! Boyfriend and girlfriend. That was… That was super-duper, out of this world preposterous.
   But what’s done is done.
And besides, why should she worry about things as superficial as perfume when she was roughing it on the side of the road camping. It didn't make much sense to worry about things as silly as fancy perfume when Leaf was lucky to have a shower when they were available at the inner-city hostels provided by Pokemon Centres - of which she hadn't been to one in a couple of days. She was relying on her good old wits and some basic scented lye soap to get her through without smelling rank.
However, clearly letting these things play on her mind too much only showed how sharp she was because sure enough... Leaf and Blue's paths crossed once more. And it didn’t even lead to a Pokemon battle despite the rules of what happened when two trainers’ eyes met on a Route.
It was a clear, sunny day with calm, azure skies and not a cloud to be seen. A balmy wind whistled through verdant foliage in the trees that lined the roads that caravaners enjoyed. The paths were well trodden with earthy brown centres lined with spare gravel and smooth pebbles that weeds still managed to grow in even though they were frequently trampled over.
Leaf was about to pack up for the day. She wanted to move on, get to the next city so she could have a shower and a warm, soft bed. That sounded nice but just as she finished hauling her camping gear, swag included, over her shoulder with her other bags, there she spied him from across the way, going in the direction that she wasn't - thankfully.
“Hey.” Leaf said, greeting Blue first.
She felt sheepish since she was essentially half-awake and she didn’t even want to know what smelt like. Even though she had been doing her best to keep on top of her hygiene as she trained her partner Pokemon in preparation of the next Gym she had her eye on.
“Hey.” G replied. "Good to see you again.”
And there they were again. Stuck in this stiff, awkward loop where they couldn’t muster much but there was plenty to talk about. The weather. What have you been up to? And of course...
“So did Daisy like the present you got her?” Leaf asked with a cheerful smile. “Or have you not been home since yet?”
Blue sputtered, “I haven't been home yet.”
“Oh that's a shame.” Leaf said but before she could get another word in, about how many he should try and visit soon then, Blue surprised her.
He shoved something in front of her. It was small and hard, light-weight though. Blue had done it in the blink of an eye, he had pulled something out of his backpack and sure enough, he wanted Leaf to have it.
Leaf was flustered to say the least as she was unexpectedly thrust this little item barely bigger than her hands. It was covered in crinkly tissue paper, coloured a pale red.
“What's this?” Leaf asked as she grappled with it.
“Jus' somethin’.” G mumbled. He shrugged.
“I can't hear you. Speak up. Did your mother not teach you how to enunciate?” Leaf taunted him.
“I SAID it’s just something.” Blue told her over again but this time with his annoying, over-correction at play. He basically shouted at Least to make his point in response. He all but mauled every vowel in that sentence but hey. At least Leaf understood him.
Too bad it didn’t do either of them much good as Leaf stared at him, confused.
“Open it already.” Blue huffed, impatient.
“Fine, fine, just, don’t rush me.” Leaf pouted.
She began to pull back and unravel the tissue paper. It had been professionally wrapped, she noticed. There was no way Blue could have wrapped it so beautifully and with such minimal sticky-tape, surely. She almost felt bad to tear through it but that was the problem with tissue paper, how fragile it was. The slightest tear brought it all undone to reveal the delicately yellow box it covered with half a tagline revealed and part of the brand name, Leaf still knew what it was and what it said.
   Flirt. Young love to be.
This was the exact same perfume as the one that they had picked out for Daisy. Actually, there was the small possibility that this was the exact same bottle and box that she and Blue had picked out for Daisy. So why was she holding it and why was she unwrapping it?
The confusion in Leaf’s stare thickened, “I can't accept this. Isn’t it for your sister?”
Blue sputtered. She wasn’t going to get a word out from him. He floundered in front of her. His face was bright red under the spiky gingery-brown fringe of his hair. He couldn't even meet Leaf at her own gaze because he was so distracted, fidgeting.
“Yes you can.” he managed to spit out. “It’s a gift. From me to you. Geek.”
“Dweeb.” Leaf retorted back, firing on impulse just as quickly as he had insulted her. Though, that was just a staple of their rapport at this point.
“Anyways, smell you later.” Blue said. “You might even smell good next time.”
“Hey!” Leaf whined, embarrassed. Her hackles rose as her fingers clenched onto the edge of the perfume bottle’s box as she held it fiercely.
Except… Blue wasn’t wrong though. But she had put deodorant on this morning, she was a good, self-respecting girl. Then again, that was his favourite way to get under her skin so maybe she shouldn’t take it too seriously. Ugh! The mixed messages, though.
But with that, Blue skedaddled. He wanted out of here now that he had finished up his business with her.
Moreover, he had annoyed her enough for one day, apparently. Except, Leaf hadn't annoyed him enough for one day. He had taken maybe two, possibly as many as three steps, away from her before she shouted at him:
   “Thank you!”
   Blue stopped and turned around.
Leaf's heart raced in her chest. Her hands sweated as she held more tightly onto the box of perfume. Again, she could feel her face go bright red in turn, almost as bright as Blue’s.
“For the gift, I mean. You know. Thanks.” Leaf said. “Thank you, by the way.”
“You're welcome.” Blue smiled and Leaf smiled back.
With that, Leaf let go of Blue. She let him turn tail again but he was a sorry smiler for it, bittersweet, somehow and mostly nervous, too. Leaf knew she wasn't going to get much more out of him but she could put two and two together. She realised that from before, in the department store, she was being lied to but she didn't get why. Though the outcome was the same. He really was buying this perfume for someone special.
It just so happened that someone special was her.

concept: blue tries to propose to his girlfriend and be romantic for once but she asks a hundred relevant questions while they're dress shopping so he pretends his sister is getting married
the dress? well you need something to wear. this is my sister's wedding we're talking about
the ring? he doesn't need to make an excuse for that. she just goes in because shiny things and he tries his best to pretend this isn't going to be an engagement ring
she also calls up his sister to "congratulate" her but he's already told her about it so that's cool
they go to their two-story house that leaf's parents left for her when they decided to move to alola and he convinces her to go upstairs and try the outfit on.
except he left the flowers upstairs
"hey, babe? did you by any chance misplace some flowers?"
when she comes downstairs, he kind of gives up because those flowers actually had a note that said "please marry me" and he just starts leading her to the backyard but she's like wait, no, let's do this again properly
so she goes upstairs, then comes back down and acts all surprised when he stands there half-bemused, half-annoyed with a bouquet
(he is this close to just shoving it in her hands, but he can tell that's what she's hoping for so he plays it cool)
it's based off of what she said she wanted when she was a kid plus off-handed comments she's made to him over the years
so fairy lights, all their pokemon are there, the flowers are red roses, he calls her a princess but in that teasing way where it just makes her want to smack him and kiss him at the same time (she sticks to the first one)
she's very embarrassed to learn that daisy was not actually getting married. daisy, for her part, thinks it's hilarious that blue went to all these lengths to propose and she brings it up at family reunions
(once, blue says to his kid that lead was dying to marry him so he took pity on her, and then never again, because someone told his kid about the time she beat his strongest team and he became really quiet, not because he was mad but because he was thinking the entire time "oh my god, you're so pretty"
and the kid is like, "i don't know, dad. you seem like the desperate one to me. i mean, what kind of loser thinks the person that beat them is pretty? you even decorated the backyard."
the kid does eat their words. it's the oak family curse)

listen. these two wear each others favourite clothing piece. leaf gingerly twirls the pendant in her fingers as she lets her mind wander and green traces his fingers across the soft wristband on his left wrist when he cups his mouth lost in thought.

Welcome to the world of Sisterhood! You may call me Vivienne, or Vivi if you prefer.
If you have any questions about the details of my alternate universe, please feel free to ask them.
Here are a few of my favorite pairings:
Conflictingshipping (Green x Leaf) SoulSilvershipping (Silver x Kotone) FerrisWheelshipping (N x Touko) Wieldershipping (Volo x Akari) HerbaMysticashipping (Arven x Juliana)
I have several more, but these are the ones I feel particularly passionate about at the moment.

I would love to read their stories! Not just what goes on after, during as well! There’s just something about a journey that makes a pokefan nostalgic…
I could try to be profound and say that once a trainer has began their journey it never truly ends.
But I understand what you mean! Several of my stories do take place during the 'blank spaces' of the games, such as 'What Once We Were' occurring post postgame of LA, and the Conflictingshipping story I planned afterwards details what happens between FRLG and HGSS, as well as the post postgame of the latter.
However, I do have another LA story in the works that will explore Volo and Akari's relationship before postgame. I would like to write other stories that take place during the events of the games too at some point or another.
