These Fat Heads I made @township10 feel unknown to me. What I mean is that they came from a place I don’t have access to most of the time. I don’t know exactly what these fat heads mean, but at the time of making they meant everything. Maybe that is the beauty of working in art, of letting go and giving up trying to understand. Intuition expresses the invisible world to us.

My statement: I have wanted to make pots that feel closer to the place where I live and work in Northern California. Before the revolution in technology, people moved to the west coast to pursue their dreams “to find themselves” or to build the type of world they wanted to see. “Back to the Land” wasn’t just a slogan but an actual choice. I feel a great debt to the many artists, designers, architects, composers, farmers, utopians, iconoclasts and spiritual seekers who settled out here in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, to manifest their own ideals of living peacefully and equitably either alone or in communities.
