Stone Fruits is a new webcomic by Coleman Engle that launched at the beginning of 2024. It’s about a group of queer men “as they rediscover their passion for earnestly creating art,” and it’s got some cool things going on in it. The main character is Gil, whose nationally syndicated comic strip was just cancelled, and he returns to his old neighborhood to regroup and focus on an art book.
Every few days, you get a look at The Grouchy Gargoyle, his cancelled strip, in between strips about Gil and his friends. The other thing I like about it is that Engle does some really cool things with the layouts and colors, especially for the Sunday strips. A comic book shop had one! I just ordered it!
I am now down to 11 still to find if all the comics I found/ordered/am receiving end up coming through.
I actually saw the Fellipe Martins version of the Greg Universe special for sale on eBay, but I shied away from buying it because it was $100. Now it looks like someone else got it. :(
I saw the Rebecca Sugar version of issue 1 for sale on a UK-based comic shop site, and I went through everything to buy it (despite it being super expensive), only to get a message from the representative saying actually they sold the item a couple months ago and forgot to update their inventory. BOO!
The two I have listed for ongoing comics 6 and 16 may not even exist?? I've seen them a couple places listed as existing variant covers, but have never found a place selling them and never seen a real copy, and one of the comic artists said they didn't get these in the packet creators usually get so like . . . ??? It's possible they were created to be covers and didn't get used, but if someone knows different let me know!

Can’t believe I finally have a complete set of Original Comic #1 from 2014. The Rebecca Sugar variant was the hardest to find but I finally got one!
