Well I was gonna add accessories but I lost steam on these piece so I'll just post as is. After Asphodel had his litter, Calendula (p. Goldenflower (yes it changed it, still not sold on the name yet)) stepped up to help him out because he was pretty overwhelmed. She all but adopted Iris (p. Sand) and Lavatera (p. Amber) 🧡

name: Cypress
pride: Goldspring
role: Speaker
age: Senior
sex: Molly
traits: Cold, stubborn, protective, unyielding, ambitious
parent(s): Morning Glory, Yarrow
sibling(s): Aster, Hibiscus
1stlitter: Basil (heir)
grandkits: Delphinium (1st), Cinquefoil (2nd), Fennel (2nd)
------
Relationships
Perch (coldbank)(ex)(romantic)
Arbutus (platonic)(begrudging confidants)
Honeysuckle (close friend)
------
Firstborn of Yarrow and Morning Glory's second litter, with her littermate Aster. She never met her older brother, Hibiscus.
Has always been pretty serious and bossy, an opposite to her sister's sunny disposition.
Lost her mother at a young age, throwing her inheritance into question. The pride ultimately decided to let Cypress mature into the role of matron.
Her father, Yarrow, joined the pride after his mate's death, proclaiming he would raise their daughters in her stead. He ended up ignoring them, and his relationship would Cypress and Aster degraded until his relationship with Myrtle comes to light.
Aster and Cypress grow close after Glory's death, and she becomes Cypress's biggest weakness, getting away with what others could not.
Cypress pushed away members of her own pride, not wanting to be hurt again, and started forming friendships outside the pride. She eventually invites Honeysuckle to join.
As an adult, Cypress focused on proving her responsibility, quietly ignoring the looming deadline of a litter on the horizon--the last thing she would need to be accepted as matron.
When the time comes, Cypress chooses Perch of Coldbank as the sire, having built a rapport with him over the course of the season. They grow close, and Perch decides to ask his pride to remain behind for the Sleeping Year, where he begins seeing Cypress in secret.
The rains are late that season, and after Cypress's litter of three are born, she realizes she won't be able to feed all of them. In secret, she sends two kittens away to Coldbank, keeping her final daughter, Basil, as heir.
That same season, Aster dies, leaving behind her two daughters and an angry, vengeful mate. As Basil is weaned, Cypress puts her energy into caring and mentoring her two nieces, and much of Basil's care falls to Honeysuckle and Ursinia.
The previous pride Speaker retires, and after Amaranth spends a couple seasons as temporary Speaker, Cypress is chosen for the role.
As a matron, Cypress prefers to stay away from other prides and stick to Goldspring's own business. She pushes new ways to hunt in the trees instead of conflict with Windswept, and prefers to save the pride's resources for themselves. She's progressive in her approach to old problems, but stubborn even when her way isn't the most right.
Fully endorses Hollyhock's family taking over Locust's matron spot, but sympathizes with Locust, especially as a friend of Honeysuckle.

name: Jasmine
roles/skills: Hunter (canopy), Sewing, Warrior
age: Adult
sex: Molly
traits: Quiet, Curt, Serious
---
parent(s): Pigeon, Arbutus, Aster (adopt)
sibling(s): Meadowsweet
---
- Practically from the moment she could speak, Jasmine knew she'd been unwanted. She grew up on the story of a tragic night, when the Waking Storms finally crashed like a wave into the Valley, and her mother, Aster, was caught in the woods giving birth. Though her two kittens didn't make it, the ancestors had sent her two more on that terrible night: Jasmine and Meadowsweet.
- The pair are presumably abandoned by some Windveldt molly. At the time, relations with the newcomers had been touchy, and the founding of abandoned kittens fueled the distaste even more. All that mattered to Jasmine was that she'd been the one left to die.
- Aster had never let her feel that way, though, and her mate, Dogsbane, had been nearly as much a mother as Aster herself. Not long after becoming a paw, though, Aster was killed and Dogsbane took up an obsession of revenge, leaving Jasmine and her sister more alone than ever.
- Cypress became the only family they had left, and though she threw herself into training Jasmine in lieu of raising her own litter, she'd never been emotionally available. She taught Jasmine how to be strong, clever, and efficient, but none of that made her feel needed.
- As adults, Cypress and Arbutus met with Jasmine and Meadowsweet to confess their true heritage. The meeting went poorly, as Jasmine was outraged that the secret hadn't come out sooner, and they'd been left intentionally without a parent.
- It did open up something special, though: Amaranth, her grandmother, had also learned of their secret, and the two struck up a relationship.
- Eventually, the wound scabbed over again, and Jasmine grew close to Amaryllis. The pair are talking about kittens.
- Jasmine doesn't know about Amaranth's desire to make her heir--had always thought it was off the table, given the nature of the affair that conceived her.
- Keeps her pelt trimmed and well-groomed. It grows thick and woolly like a Wind's and retains heat. She keeps a mane, though, to look as much like Goldspring as possible

name: Locust
pride: Goldspring
role: Matron
age: Adult
sex: Molly
traits: Quiet, People Pleasing, Misled, Loving, Naive
------
dam: Chrysanthemum (Mum)
sibling(s): Tamarack (older), Pine (littermate)
1stLitter: Sakenti
2ndLitter: Flax, Willow
------
Relationships
Teasel (ex)(platonic)(attempted romance)
Honeysuckle (friend)
------
• Locust is the second born of her mother's second litter, an unintended litter at that. Her older sister, Tamarack, had long been intended as Mum's heir.
• While Mum continued to pour her energy into Tamarack, Locust and her brother, Pine, were left forgotten. Their mother often shushed them when became loud, and so both have become softspoken.
• Tamarack paid more attention to them, and Locust soaked it up, desperate to please her sister since she couldn't please her mother.
• Locust becomes an adult, and watches as her mother retires as Speaker, then tries to force the pride to accept Tamarack as her heir, despite no kittens. Tamarack only confided in Locust once, wishing that she could just have one kitten, one heir and it would change everything.
• Mum passes some seasons later, and Tamarack approaches Locust, telling her that she simply couldn't have kittens, then begging Locust to have a litter, if only so the family line would continue and Mum's efforts wouldn't be for naught. Well and easily manipulated, Locust agreed.
• Two of three of Locust's kittens survive the birth, but both are unwell.  Despite her best efforts, she is unable to rope Tamarack into helping her raise them together like she'd thought would happen. The day they're old enough to be named, Tamarack announces that she's leaving the pride.
• Locust's daughter would pass away not long after, leaving her single son: Sakenti, named after the god Saja in desperate hope that he would live where his littermates did not.
• Raising Sakenti and watching him learn and grow are some of the best years of Locust's life, despite the abandonment, guilt, and trauma hanging over her head. She grows closer to Honeysuckle, who raises her litter alongside Sakenti.
• After Sakenti grows up and leaves with the coalitions, Locust is reassured by those around that she didn't need to risk another litter, that Hollyhock and her family could take the matron spot. Though relieved on a superficial level, Locust never shakes the feeling that she failed not only her mother and sister, but her entire bloodline. She's guilty that it will all end with her.
• That's what make it so easy for Sakenti, while home from the coalitions, to prompt Locust to try for another litter, to fulfill her family's wish. Teasel, born a tom and identifying as a molly, presents an ideal option, and the two strike up a bond as they begin discussing a litter in secret.
• The moment Locust tells the rest of the pride that she's pregnant, though, she can't help but feel like she failed THEM. Hollyhock would make a strong matron, and her children good successors. Locust and her history of illness and poor kittens made her feel like she shackled the pride to a tainted bloodline, that Goldspring may never have the strength it needs.
• When the kittens are born, and one of them is a molly, she feels sick with guilt all over again. She avoids them, and avoids Teasel--Teasel who gladly takes up the burden of raising them, making every effort to pass them off as her own litter, which the pride are reluctant to accept when Locust won't say anything on the matter.
• There's a certain magic that was lost for Locust with the second litter too--siblings that bicker are much different than an only child to bond deeply with.
• She feels guilty especially for Willow, who now has all this responsibility on her shoulders as the heir. It feels to her like all she's done is complicate what had once been a simple matter.  As for Flax, he reminds her of the daughter she lost, a whole new reason to grieve. The pair drift further and further away as they get older, falling under Teasel's influence.

name: Myrtle
pride: Goldspring
age: Senior
sex: Molly
traits: Quiet, creative, worrisome
------
mate: Yarrow (ex)
siblings: Hollyhock
1stlitter: Sycamore, Barberry
------
Myrtle didn't need the best, but she did at least want something. Hollyhock got all of their mother's doting praise, and her other peers, like Aster and Cypress, were considered much more impressive.
After Yarrow lost his mate, he and Myrtle began to bond. He was the first cat who showed interest in her, and she badly wanted something for herself, that she didn't have to share with anyone else.
Perhaps part of the appeal was that Yarrow didn't seem to care about any other cat in the pride, not even his own daughters. It felt good to be his one and only.
Her brief affair with Yarrow comes crashing down in flames when she becomes pregnant, and the nature of their relationship is exposed. Hollyhock turns on her, and neither Cypress nor Aster are happy about having half-siblings.
Yarrow was loud about how he needed to remain in Goldspring instead of returning to the coalitions, insisting he needed to stay "for the sake of his mate and kittens." At the same time, he began to see Myrtle less and less. His act began to slip, and he steadily became as curt and cold as he was with everyone else.
Without family, friends, or a mate, Myrtle sunk her entire being into raising her two sons, Barberry and Sycamore. Two toms didn't faze her--she knew what it was like to not be loved, and she wouldn't curse her litter to the same fate.
One could say she smothered her boys. As they grew up, she begged them to find some excuse to remain with the pride. She didn't want to be alone again, but most of all she didn't want to see them hurt.
Her pleas had the opposite effect. Sycamore and Barberry wanted to prove their tomhood.
Barberry didn't return from his first year, dying before he could reach the honour of adulthood that he always wanted. The experience sobered Sycamore. He and Myrtle mourned Barberry together, and Sycamore became cautious and level-headed, determined to return home to his mother year after year.
These days, Myrtle isn't without friends. She's helped many mollies in the nursery through motherhood, and spends much of her time on repairing and upkeep of tools and supplies.

name: Meadowsweet
roles/skills: Kitsitter, Leatherwork, Dyes/Pigments, Cooking
age: Adult
sex: Molly
traits: Quiet, Shy, Self-defeating, Creative
---
parent(s): Arbutus, Pigeon, Aster (adopt)
sibling(s): Jasmine
---
-Unlike Jasmine, Meadowsweet had very much felt wanted. What was more wanted, she thought, than an abandoned kitten taken up by cats with no blood ties?
- But it all came crashing down anyways, when Aster was killed and Dogsbane turned away from her and her sister. And when Meadowsweet approached Dogsbane, practically begging her to come back, she learned that she hadn't been as wanted as she'd thought.
- Afterwards, Meadowsweet put her head down and focused on being unnoticed, fearing anything that drew too much attention, especially negative attention.
- Still, she befriended her cousin Basil, excitedly sharing their exploits with toms and thoughts of kittens between sewing and cooking. When Basil had her litters, Meadowsweet was over the moon for her friend.
- When she discovered her true parentage, she was devastated. If Arbutus had stepped up, it could have changed everything. As angry and confused as she is, she's conflicted about what to do with this new information, and whether she wants to make something of her newly discovered blood ties.
- Her fur is often stained with the pigments and dyes she creates.
- She might have been a Teller, if she'd ever worked up the nerve to ask.

name: Hemlock
age: Adult
sex: Molly
traits: Laidback, Kind, Self-centered
-----
parent(s): Rhubarb
sibling(s): Mallow
1stlitter: Fuchsia, Barley, Camelia
2ndlitter: Aspen, Foxglove
------
Amaryllis & Basil (friends)
Hollyhock (dislike)
------
- Hemlock is from a splinter family.  Her mother, Rhubarb, had left the pride, feeling the call of isolation. As expected of her, Rhubarb had a litter, Hemlock and Mallow. Once they were of age, she asked them to leave.
- Holding no hard feelings towards their loner mother, Mallow left following the call as well, departing from the Valley entirely. Hemlock, however, decided to explore pride life with Goldspring.
- Difficult to faze, Hemlock melded with pride life with the same ease as she had a splinter's. Fun and safety were with the pride, though, easily making up her mind.
- She figures maybe she'll feel the call someday, but for now she enjoys the company of her children and of friends she's made in the pride, such as Amaryllis and Basil.
- Rhubarb wasn't a bad mother, but it was always made clear to Hemlock that their time with her was temporary, and she always felt like an obligation. She didn't care that her mother wanted a splinter's life--but she did care that Rhubarb hadn't wanted them to begin with.
- To that end, Hemlock is a mother because she wants to be. She has two litters.
- First are Barley, Camellia, and Fuchsia. Her son, Barley, is a splinter, still visiting occasionally. Her daughter Camellia was born disabled, and consumed a lot of Hemlock's attention. She and her second daughter, Fuchsia, are close, though with some onesided resentment.
- Though all three of her children see adulthood, Camellia dies from an illness she couldn't fight off and Hemlock is shattered. She doesn't talk about Camellia, wanting to hoard all memories of her daughter.
- She has her second litter despite Fuchsia's protests, two sons named Foxglove and Aspen. Her relationship with both boys takes a dive as they grow older, and they push her away despite her best efforts.
- Her second litter is Foxglove and Aspen. She struggles to relate to either of them. Foxglove grew bitter and pushed her away from a young age, while Aspen withdrew from everyone, not speaking at all.
- Hemlock and Hollyhock have bickered before, when Hemlock despairs over her sons pulling and Hollyhock has no sympathy to offer.

name: Amaranth
pride: Goldspring
role: Matron
age: Geriatric
sex: Molly
traits: Sharp, observant, hardworking
------
siblings: Ixia, Ash
1stlitter: Arbutus
grandkittens: Jasmine, Meadowsweet
------
• Currently the oldest living cat in the Valley. Most cats can't even remember a time when Amaranth wasn't senior.
• She's the eldest of her mother's first litter. Sickness infested the nursery, and Amaranth's littermate died, while Ama herself lost vision in her left eye.
• Her mother had a second litter with a daughter and son: Ixia and Ash.
• The year Amaranth had her first litter, the Ninth Blink ran long and the rains were late, the first instance to occur in her lifetime. From a burgeoning litter of four, she lost all but one: Arbutus.
• She wasn't very involved in his care, and quickly returned to her duties, distancing herself from him.
• A few years after Arbutus was born, Amaranth's mother retired and Ama became matron. Despite the looming future of her family losing the spot if she didn't have a daughter, she decided not to have a second litter.
• Her sister, Ixia, tried twice to have a litter, hoping that she would have a daughter and save Ama from the burden. Unfortunately, her first litter died during and after a difficult birth, one that Ixia took many blinks to recover from.
• Both Amaranth and Ash, who had become a healer, asked Ixia to save her health and not true try again, but Ixia insisted her first was a fluke. Despite her optimism, she later died alongisde her second litter.
• Amaranth was Speaker for a time, but she didn't want to be forever. The previous Speaker, Chrysanthemum, retired before her daughter, Tamarack, had children, and though she convinced the pride, and Ama, to let Tam be a matron, they refused to have her as Speaker. They would only compromise with Amaranth being temporary, and then later choosing between Cypress and Tam.
• Save for Arbutus, Amaranth outlived her entire family. She retired in her later years, well after most do, but decided to maintain her status as Matron "until she breathes her last breath."
• When Arbutus retired, they finally struck up a bond, not as mother and son but as peers who'd seen it all. Amaranth learned from him that two kittens adopted by Arbutus's friend, Aster, were actually his illicit children had with a Windswept molly.
• This prompted her to choose Jasmine as her heir, especially as Jas becomes pregnant with her own first litter.
• Numerous injuries, including falls, broken bones, and the scarring and clouding of her remainder eye have taken their toll on Amaranth. She doesn't wander far these days, and struggled the past year to keep up during the move to the Waking Holt. In hushed whispers, many speculate that this may be her final year.

name: Calchas, Teasel
age: Middle-aged
sex: Tom; Trans Molly
traits: Cold, Bitter, Hardworking, Committed
---
mate: Locust (ex)
1stlitter: Willow, Flax
---
- Born as Calchas, she was driven away from her birth pride in the desert by her father and king at the time, Mordax.
- Sons of the current King are driven off, but she'd begged to remain as a molly with her sisters. Mordax mocked her, and sent the Princes to harry her out of the desert lands.
- Managing to survive her injuries, she travelled towards the prides, following rumours that only they only allowed mollies among them. She projected her mother and sisters, who had accepted her wholeheartedly, onto the prides, and sought them out looking for acceptance.
- She didn't get what she thought she would. Cypress met her on the border, where she wasn't immediately welcome, having arrived in the Waking Year. It was Honeysuckle who took an interest in her, though, curious about the prides from the desert.
- Teasel was eventually brought into the pride, and though at first she was treated with polite curiosity and fascination ("a tom who wants to be a molly from a far away land, and a pride where toms are in charge?"), the pride grew weary of Teasel's rough foreign manners. They appreciated her for the hard work she did, though, and it was the reason she remained.
- She bears no small amounts of abuse and interrogation. Many cats like to remind her of the one thing she could never have of mollies: the ability to bear kittens.
- When she and Locust have a litter, Teasel quickly takes over as much of the parenting as she can, striving to mimic what Asphodel and Calendula had done prior, treating Flax and Willow like a litter she'd had all her own.
