despite his infamy as a heartless murderer, chrollo is a gentle, kind, benevolent lover to kurapika. the man has a soft way of speaking that kurapika finds comforting; his quiet voice and his dying heartbeat, though eerily slow, often soothes the young boy to sleep. similarly, chrollo finds that his own blood, constantly seeking destruction and violence, calms only when kurapika is in his arms. through hate and resentment they find solace in each other.
commissioned artwork by kradebii for kuroxkura. do not use; rights belong only to the artist and client.

pairing: chrollo/kurapika theme: of monsters & massacre
the backseat is a lost religion. kurapika sits knee-to-knee with a leviathan: a monster, in the biblical sense. a criminal, in the traditional sense. chrollo’s voice is crowded in his throat, pushed back by claustrophobic chains and a lacking will. he refuses to speak and it boils kurapika’s blood—clots it.
he wants chrollo to beg, to bargain. wants him to feel the rope of reality fraying against his teeth, like the only out is a careful monologue of why kurapika should let him live. chrollo says nothing, and they park in the open air of an empty airport.
melody vacates the car, and leorio follows with a shared, meaningful glance in the rear-view. kurapika meets him straight and doesn’t move. there’s no reason to, not when isolation is all he’s ever sought with the spider.
the spider, a massacre of a man, who’d sculpted kurapika’s being—premature and predestined—with little more than a chalice of eyes and a knife welded with bloody intention.
“why did you do it?” kurapika waits until the car is empty, empty enough: they’re both still inside, and the chain jailing chrollo’s thoughts falls, clinks to circle his throat. “why did you ruin lives like you were paid by the hour?”
“because i was,” chrollo hums, smiles, and it’s mournful and insincere. “not by the hour, but by the piece. isn’t that far more beautiful?”
“it’s sinister,” kurapika counters. “it’s vile.”
“it is what it is,” chrollo drones. “would a lie to soothe your insecurities? i’m the wrong man to supply.”
kurapika’s forearm slams horizontal into his throat, pushes chrollo back into the leather. “we wouldn’t be here if you could lie your way to a long life. you’ll die, i’ll make sure of it.”
“we all die, chain-user,” chrollo’s eyes are a flat black, a faded sanity. “you would make a poor fortune-teller.”
“i’m not out to be one,” kurapika hisses, gets on his knees and gets in chrollo’s face. it’s a dangerous moment, where proximity is both threat and promise. chrollo smiles, and those eyes are so focused on kurapika’s mouth, it’s a new fear. kurapika shoves his elbow with more aggression. “who do you think i am?”
“your heels will pierce the leather seat,” chrollo’s laugh is perfectly breathless, and his nose inches its way to touch kurapika’s. he lines them, pushes, until their mouths warm with shared breath. “you're a monster, chain-user. in the biblical sense.”

People need to understand the obvious difference between Leopika and Chrollopika shippers because this little "war" the shippers have is getting out of hand.
Leopika:
Leopika is a ship that involves a "Friends to Lovers" trope. Kurapika is a mentally unstable person and he has Leorio (a mentally stable person) to help him and guide him through true love (friends with benefits). Most of the fanfics for this ship are #Fluff or a different au (probably modern setting). People like it because it's something that is easy to ship. Unfortunately I don't have any fanfictions to recommend because I've never read one. When they first meet Kurapika is 17-18 and Leorio 19, meaning that the age difference is not a problem because Kurapika is 19-20 in Yorknew and Leorio around 21.
Chrollopika:
Chrollopika is the complete opposite. The target audience for this ship is people who enjoy "Enemies to Lovers" more than "Friends to Lovers". Chrollo and Kurapika are two sides of the same coin and no-one can argue about that. It is heavily implied in the manga that Kurapika and Chrollo are going to die together (Kurapika will kill Chrollo but he'll also die at the progress). This is NOT a ship that involves an ACTUAL RELATIONSHIP between the two characters but it's more of an #Angst/No comfort #One sided love. The fact that Chrollo killed Kurapika's clan is contributing to the "Enemies to Lovers" trope that the ship has so IT'S NOT an excuse of why people shouldn't ship it. Some people argue because of the age difference but Kurapika is 19-20 is Yorknew and Chrollo is 26 NOT 28 like some people think, so in the Black whale they're close in age. Some very good fanfic recommendations are "Chlorine" by Lances in ao3. It's a HANAHAKI DISEASE au that portrays the two of them perfectly.
So for GOD'S SAKE PLEASE stop with this completely meaningless war. And remember that you can obviously ship Kurapika with anyone else or headcanon him as an Asexual/Aromantic but those are the two most popular Kurapika ships.
