For anyone who either didn't watch or hasn't heard of the anime Cherry Magic: 30 Years of Virginity Made Me A Wizard.......please watch it. Yes the title is fucking ridiculous. No it's not a masterpiece. Sure the animation is passable, standard for a BL romance at the very least. What makes it worth watching are the expectation subversions it delivers around every episode.
The main character can read minds because he's a 30 year old virgin, so you'd think he'd use this to his advantage to sleep with people? Wrong. He's awkward as hell and feels insanely guilty about this power that he can do nothing about.
Since Love Interest-kun is in love with Protagonist-kun, he must take advantage of him like nearly all BL stories, right? Wrong. Love Interest-kun is a dork with the most vanilla fantasies you can imagine who still manages to be a gentleman even when he's consumed by lust.
But surely Protagonist-kun keeps his power a secret from his love interest, right? Wrong. When he and Love Interest-kun start getting serious, he tells him, because again, he's insanely guilty about it.
But surely Love Interest-kun takes the news that his boyfriend can read his mind and has been invading his privacy poorly, right? Wrong. He's totally cool with it.
But there's a woman at the office they work at who takes an interest in them. Surely she must be romantically interested in one of them and screws up their dynamic, right? Wrong. She's just a fujoshi who wants her ship to be happy.
So it ends with the couple finally going on a date or kissing right? Wrong. They got that stuff out of the way early. They end up getting married and living happily ever after.
I'm not going to pretend this show was outrageously amazing, but I feel like it deserves more love because every time I thought it was going to play into the typical BL tropes, it proved me wrong.

Okay but the way Jinta & Min love and support each other in their successes is actually art.

You know it's true love when Min says Jinta smells like his grandparents and Jinta's just fixated on how Min called him charming
