Reading about the odd lifestyles of ancient wealthy elites is always fun. You'll find some odd shit.

The Martinez de Hoz family for example, an old Argentinian landowner family with more money than god. At their height, they had 2.5 million hectares (~6.17 million acres~) of prime land. Out of all those hectares, Chapadmalal was considered their sparkling diamond. A 25.500 hectare ranch on the coast of Buenos Aires (province), they decided to build a small castle there.

In 1888 Miguel Martinez de Hoz, descendant of the first dude to acquire the 2.5 million Hectares, inherited the castle and 13.000 hectares of Chapadmalal. What did he decide to do with all this extravagant wealth? LARP as an English nobleman.

Seriously. I'm not kidding, dude spent much of his time in England, and also made the castle emulate that lifestyle ideal. A guidebook described how "from master to men, nothing but English is spoken; the hours of labour, the cooking, even the making of bread, are all on the English style".

So for some years in the late 19th century in Argentina you had a little piece of England inhabited by no Englishmen. Bizarre. Dude wasn't even descended from the English, the first Martinez de Hoz to come to Argentina was Spanish.
