I lie in a pool of my own sweat. the temperature rises when you step past the door into my room like a portal to hell itself. the fan, while on, blows only warmth, a taunt of what it could be. and still, it blows, for a shifting warmth is better than the latent humidity

asked my mom how to cook a turkey the other day and she sent me this recipe i wrote in kindergarten

Sometimes I see people in other countries complaining like "it's 30 degrees outside it's so hot" & so I look up how hot 30 degrees celsius is and I'm like bitch that's not even hot that's literally a cool day here in Hellfire Fuckoff, Arizona.

2023 on track to be world's hottest year on record, temperatures exceed 1.5C above pre-industrial levels for first time

Welp, this is the start of mass extinction in the eyes of the environmental experts.

We will either let the fossil fuel industry and all it's bootlickers kill us or we'll have to get to them soon.

This year is now almost certain to become Earth's warmest on record after a hot July and August saw global temperatures reach the Paris Agreement target of 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. This is the first time the 1.5C threshold has been passed for more than one month, and only the second time it has ever been exceeded, behind February 2016. Data released last week from Copernicus, a branch of the European Union Space Programme, shows August was 1.59C warmer than 1850-1900 levels, following a 1.6C increase in July. The recent records have now lifted the year-to-date global temperature to the end of August to 1.35C above pre-industrial levels, just 0.01C behind 2016 — the current record holder, according to Copernicus data.

The graph below, created by Hausfather, a researcher at the climate group Berkeley Earth, shows temperature anomalies, meaning how high each month was above a historical average baseline temperature. Each multicolored line represents a previous year, color coded by decade. (The 1990s, for example, are the lines in yellow.) The solid black line is 2023, and it has been soaring above the others since May. It stops in the month of September, which beat the prior monthly record by more than 0.5° Celsius.
