Fort Briggs was one of the most illustrious restaurants in Amestris. People said that it was so hard to get a reservation in this restaurant that people would go out of their way to make this their dying wish – because being on death's door increased chances of getting a seat by a whole 5%.

Blast from the past because I can (and because I have an inkling of what you'd say about a lot of these for Royai already :P): Oliveer - 3, 16, 27, 33
Oh my gosh I HAVEN'T THOUGHT ABOUT THESE TWO IN SO LONG. Okay, I have to try to think about them in anything more than omake mode. I'll answer at least one question seriously XD
3. What was their first impression of each other?
Buccaneer is a northern guy through and through. He was already at Briggs when Olivier got transferred up as the new commander, and his first impression of her was relief that the person taking charge wasn't as wussy as the last southerner who got sent their way.
Olivier knew about the last commander and was surprised to find the troops acting as a well-maintained machine together. On first sight of Buccaneer, Olivier's first thought was, "He'd better not be as useless as my brother," and she basically put him through the wringer that first meeting. (Buccaneer: heh, excellent >:D)
16. Would they ever get matching tattoos? If yes, what would these look like?
YES. It'd be something like ... everyone in Briggs has this particular insignia on their uniform, and these two idiots got that insignia tattooed on their biceps.
27. How do they say “I love you” non-verbally?
Non verbally ... well by setting an order that would see the other one dead by a certain time and then giving a broken watch to check the time, for one canon example <3
33. How do they flirt? Who’s the worse flirt?
Olivier is 100% the worse flirt. She can pretend to flirt, with Raven for example, but she despises it. Why hide feelings under layers of words that don't actually mean exactly what you say when you can get actual results from just saying it right out? You want a man to date you? You order him to meet you at a location and you do the date.
Buccaneer would flirt with her if he could get away with it - and in some trifling little ways he does (making fun of her for her forthright actions, the occasional saucy look) - but if he tries to get too suave or too sophisticated with his flirting it starts reminding Olivier of Mustang and she hates it. Buccaneer has gladly given up flirting in order to actually get somewhere with Olivier.

Some Briggs rambling
I love thinking about the structure of Briggs bc we basically get no info on it. What do we know?
The lower levels are where the life structure goes (water pipes, heating structures) then the research levels come where they create new weapons (tanks etc.). Then there are the communications center, some offices and ofc the medical room.
But what of the other things? Sleeping bunks? Are there a few big rooms where multiple people sleep or do they have smaller ones they share with around 5 people?
Where do they eat? I bet they have a big mess hall with a big kitchen attached to it. With hundreds of hungry soldier eating there everyday, I bet things get quite chaotic from time to time.
What about paperwork? There has to be a massive administration that coordinates all the different people and needed supplies. And the horses!! Where are they, how many do they have and who tf takes care of them?? If someone (Casther) makes a bit too much tomfoolery does Miles put them on horse duty??
Srsly I'd k1ll for more official lore of Briggs!!!
What do they do when they're off duty? Do they have common areas where they're able to meet and relax? What about group activities? Do they have charade nights? Movie nights? Karaoke nights??? I want them to sing silly songs and have the whole room hyped up when someone makes a full on performance.
I want silly shenanigans of little pranks they do. Someone making an Olivier bingo, making Miles impressions or giving Buccaneer silly hairstyles when he's taking a nap. I want friendly competitions between patrols about who spots the most Drachman soldiers.
Briggs is the most badass group of fma and I know they're just the silliest ppl as well, a big family that loves having a great time together. And we were robbed of those interactions!!

Final part of my Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood hyper fixation, binge watch!!
Episode 57: almost feel sorry for this dude… almost
Fu-jii!!!!! Captain Buccaneer!! The tears!!!!!
Very dramatic summoning! 10/10 on the drama
Episode 58: Ling’s breakdown was painful. That whole scene was! But Greeling is so badass!!!
RIZA!!!!!! Stupid cross eyed (no offense to anyone else really) unethical quack of a scientist/doctor thing!!!
Scar is so relatable these last few episodes. He’s just so chill and stoic when everything is going down. The weird doctor thing seemingly disappears and Scar just looks only a little off and says so calmly “he disappeared” lol
For being a human homunculus, Bradley sure doesn’t die
Episode 60: Scar’s character development is amazing really. To go from calling alchemy an affront to God to willingly use alchemy, and not just the deconstruction, is growth
How did I forget about this whole scene?!? I do somewhat recall the gateway of earth opening and a random ass thing popping out and yelling at God to listen. I remember the hands coming out and everybody going down, but I feel like it should have been more prominent in my memories
Episode 61: Kimblee was not having it. He sounded so disappointed and now Selim is so tiny
Episode 62:
How is Ed’s arm fine? Al’s body is completely starved and has no muscle so why is Ed’s arm muscled?
Episode 63: Greed’s death was absolutely painful!!
God/Truth is… understandable in a harsh way.
You know if Hohenheim had just done the exchange for his life for Al’s without asking Ed to do it… Ed wouldn’t have had to offer his alchemy. Still he does show how Truth seems to… I wouldn’t say favor, but Ed does seem like Truth’s favorite
Episode 64:
Knox’s face when he sees Roy still working when he thought he’d be depressed…
Speaking of! How dare they never show a scene of a sleeveless Roy Mustang before this!!!! He’s so fit!!
The fist bump that I love!!
Nina had such a large impact on the brothers. Not only did Ed mention her when he was at a low, but now Al shows that they both took it hard and are determined to never let something like that happen again.
Ed is so awkward 🥰 and his laugh is so cute!

9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
Envy. In Fullmetal Alchemist, they're the character I will never manage to like, and I don't want to anyway. Envy is selfish, remorseless, disdainful, and the cause of so much grief amongst both the characters and the fans, so that makes many reasons for me not to like them. I think Arakawa has done a great job for that!
23. Unpopular character you love?
If unpopular here means "who doesn't get much attention and appreciation", I'll say Buccaneer! He's a great man, strong with a big heart, and I wish we had more information about his past!

got a new book today captain blood by rafael sabatini
the weird horizontal format is because the armed services editions were printed for cheap on magazine presses two at a time then cut across the middle to separate the books. tons of them were given free to usa service men in the second world war as a moral boosting kind of thing.
im going to have to be a little bit careful reading it not to tear the pages near the staple but its in pretty good condition all things considered.
seems a pretty cool book i haven't looked too much into the story but looks like a classic tale of adventure. ill probably read it as soon as I'm done with my current one.
