funny as shit to me that in FE6 Hugh's dad is a generic "died heroically and is someone his kid looks up to" nameless guy and then in FE7 we learn that actually Canas got the fuck outta there as soon as he found out he'd have to be a stay at home dad. "parenting my son? nah man I'll just let my mom abuse him, it's fine" <- literally his train of thought. it does work (mainly by tying into his main flaw of seeking knowledge at all costs) which is very impressive, but still. amazing retcon. 10/10

replaying blazing blade and I forgot how much of a recruitment canas has. man invites himself along because he heard you're going to the dread isle. specifically mentions that he's been trying to get there for a while. says that you're "playing tag with these pirates". admits he sounds selfish for asking to come along. goes off on a tangent about how dark magic is a biased term.
