It took me a while to get to it because first I was sleeping and then I was distracted but at some point i DID watch the murder mystery arc deep dive and you did extremely well once again <3
I am always excited abt your deep dives but the excitement for the next one is especially justified! It's the Campania arc!!! One of my fave arcs (was THE favorite arc back when I first read BB as a kid. I was so fucking hyped when they said it was going to be animated) and arguably one of the best for the fandom. It gives a lot of insight into Lizzy and her friendship with our silly little guy who did nothing wrong ever!
Speaking of him, you saying "What are you doing child?? Go to bed!!" at the end of your "wtf is up with Ciel in this scene with Arthur" vent was extremely entertaining. 1000/10. Would end any discussion about Ciel's behavior in the manga like that.
Also going back to the topic...you usually discuss the in-between chapters as well, so next deep dive you'll also talk about (my beloved) the Easter Eggs Hunt chapter??? Exciting.
Anyway back to MDZS i go. Please stay safe and don't overwork yourself, ily!!
Ps: pretend we're on twitch and I just redeemed the hydrate button. Drink some water, it's good for you <3
Yes!! The Easter chapter will go at the end of the Campania arc video! I prefer to do those little "side" chapters at the end of the arc they follow. Thank you so much for your kind words!!! I'm very excited to cover the Campania arc!! Have fun reading MDZS!!!!

I finally watched the Noah’s Ark Circus musical with subtitles (over the course of four days - it was my downtime activity while my sister’s wedding was happening) and I have some Thoughts
It’s not a very good play lol. I could tell that was true even without the subtitles .
The song where Sebastian and Will don’t want to hold hands while they do acrobatics is the only song that I remember thinking was catchy. The rest of them were shockingly weak. No earworms to speak of .
Most of the actors do the best they can within the parameters they’re set but it’s just not well-adapted for the stage. And it’s way too dark! What an unhappy note to end a story on. It’s more or less faithful to the arc but I really wish it hadn’t been. It’s just not a pleasant tale .
Lycoris is rather dark too, but because it’s also very dramatic and romanticized and pretty (and Grell is there), I think it still lends itself to a better stage adaptation. Noah’s Ark is mostly just about people having really shitty lives and it ends on Sebastian concluding that humans are desperate creatures. Also a lot of children die. Gee, what a fun way to spend a night out....... 😐 .
I think it was frankly irresponsible to cast a young child as Ciel, if not any child. It’s not a fun role for a kid, and it’s also just inappropriate considering they really played up Kelvin’s thirst and creepiness. I think it’s far too frightening for someone who is only twelve. Reo did really well despite it all - but of course he was exhausted by the end and I think it was just way too overwhelming for him .
I care less about the circus crew than ever. The cast really tried to put themselves out there, but there’s too much overacting in an attempt to get you to fall in love with everyone/pity them before they’re killed. It’s really corny .
That said, it was cool how many of the circus people could actually do tricks! I loved how Dagger knew how to ride a unicycle, and Peter and Wendy’s back-flips were fun to watch .
I wanted to love Agni and Soma, but whenever they were on-stage, they just seemed like caricatures. I skipped their song/dance in the second act because I remembered it feeling out of place and tonally bizarre .
The servants aren’t too bad. Their actors almost always get really hammy in any play, but they’re meant to be clowns, so you expect it. However, having Bard and Ciel say “Those are the Phantomhive servants” simultaneously right before Bard blew up the manor really hit the powerful note it was meant to .
Abberline and Hanks my beloved. All their comedy skits were brilliant. The way their jokes made Furukawa and Reo break character and laugh during the Undertaker scene was so cute. I smiled any time they were on stage .
Speaking of Furukawa, of course he did great. His performance here made me realize why I love Campania so much more: it’s great to see Sebastian being smarmy and show-offy, but even better to see it juxtaposed with a desperate Sebastian who’s afraid for the first time in his life. It gives you that full scope of his character. Throughout Noah’s Ark, Sebastian is not struggling at all, so even though Furukawa is killing it with the facial expressions and poses, I felt a little bored by the script .
Most of all, I got the overall sense that everyone was doing the best with what they had, which was uncomfortable. I ended up feeling sorry for everyone who had to adapt such a difficult story.........
If I was in charge of the stage play (and I shouldn’t be), I think I would have toned things down and been less faithful to the source material. There’s no need to make it a comedy, but even tragedies need to possess lots of humanity in order to make them an enjoyable experience. I don’t think the circus antics and AbberHanks was enough to encourage a good atmosphere. I would have walked out of the theater feeling rather hopeless and uninspired if I had watched Noah’s Ark in-person.
In act two, the tragedies are just one after the other. The children dying in Kelvin’s performances, then the basement, then Kelvin getting shot and Joker slowly wilting in misery, the other Circus members getting killed, the doctor revealing the prosthetics are made of children’s bones, Ciel’s panic attack, “killing” Doll, the orphanage being abandoned - and then Sebastian sings a song about desperation and that’s the end, time to go home, bye!
I’ll honestly think more about how I’d change this, just as a fun exercise in storytelling. But if you liked Noah’s Ark, I’m happy for you! As for me, I’ll stick with rewatching Campania for the millionth time.

Black Butler where o!ciel is the only one getting kidnapped because Rachel, Vincent, and r!ciel was out
My idea is that r!ciel wants to suprised o!ciel with toys so he beg his dad to take him to the toy store, Rachel follow along to pick up Angelina since she just got out of the hospital after her accident/miscarriage but then they come home to a blazing fire and all of them are devastated.
A month later o!ciel come back with Sebastian despite being happy the family mourns over o!ciel who now just emotionless.
I wanna write a scene where the whole month the family stays with o!ciel even Vincent ignore all his guard dog duty for him playing and taking him on a trip to London, buy alot more toys and new clothes, but sadly none of them even gain a twitch of smile from o!ciel except a "thank you, father" and it hurts Vincent so much. Rachel can't help to cry every night and r!ciel feels like a failure (I have alot of ideas and alot of them is just overprotective family)
Heres some of my ideas for this au:
On the twins 13th birthday they ride horses with Elizabeth and aunt Francis but because o!ciel never ride a horse before (even after he came home) r!ciel make this their bonding moment and teaches o!ciel to ride it only for o!ciel almost falling (and got caught by Sebastian) that he stopped and let o!ciel ride with him, when the bear attacks it appears behind o!ciel rather than Elizabeth and r!ciel tackled him down.
(Campania arc) o!ciel knows what undertaker is doing and decided to snoop around but got caught by Elizabeth and r!ciel (and he's mad) but before they could go up the boat the zombies (?) Woke up and attack them, when they reach the lifeboat o!ciel sneak away with Sebastian to stop undertaker and the two of them got found floating on a raft (he got an earful by his family even Edward, lizzy, and aunt Francis for a very long time)
(Book of murder arc) Vincent hold a party to captured Woodley but he didn't expect his youngest son Butler to get murdered (for the first time in three years his youngest son finally shows emotions and he hate how this is his first emotions)
Finny, meyrin, and bard is still here but I decided to put doll and joker as their servants too because rather than in the original where ciel kills everyone in that arc except snake Vincent is more level headed and take them in (including snake too I guess) (the other circus members still got killed but doll and joker mourns and accept it because they were the one planning to kill)
Drabble time (circus arc when the mansion got attacked but the target is Vincent family and Elizabeth who was staying over) (also a bit of character study? Vincent is a family guy at day and the queen watchdog/the underworld leader some kind?)
"Baron Kelvin.. You disgusts me enough as it is, first for kidnapping and basically enslaving kids and you just confessed your perverted obsession with MY kids" Tanaka besides him have a calmer expression than his master but his eyes says otherwise
"After everything the young master went through...sir Baron Kelvin you deserve to die" he hiss, he will never forgive himself for the failure he did three years ago. Not only did he failed to keep the manor save he failed protecting his master beloved son he could never redeem himself no matter what his master said
"Yes! Oh please earl phantomhive! Kill me! Kill me the way your son kill all those people in the cult! Kill me--"
"PLEASE!! HES OUR FATHER HE'S MY FATHER PLEASE DONT KILL HIM!!" Vincent almost forget about the ever loyal joker who is crawling pathetically on the ground "i-if you kill him we just gonna take something precious from you too!"his face twist to a smirk a painful smirk at that
"Are you..talking about my family?" Vincent glare cut through joker cooky smirk and Vincent sharp eyes can see him shrunk back a bit he let out a bit of satisfying chuckle in his head
"Well that would be impossible then" Vincent without hesitation took out his gun and shot Kelvin through his head instantly shutting him up "he was being so annoying" he sight
"F-FATHER" joker crawl more "THE CIRCUS IS ON THEIR WAY RIGHT NOW!! THEYRE GOING TO KILL YOUR FAMILY AND EVERYTHING YOU EVER DEAR!! EVEN YOUR SERVANTS" Between each breath joker scream
"Are you hearing yourself boy?" Tanaka chuckle and Vincent let out an amused smirk
He'll never let his family got under attack not anymore
"This is the servants of phantomhive, after what happened three years ago" Vincent kneel to joker heigh, joker feel like a bug that's about to get squish
"I would never let anything happened to my family again"
That painful month of self regret and self loathing, Vincent should be thankful to god astre is still alive (despite being broken) and he would never let anything happened to astre or anyone of his family ever again

Hello! I just wanted to say thank you for posting Kuroshitsuji & Kuromyu content for us! I have always wanted to know more detail about the performances and about Yunbastian and you give us SO MUCH detailed information, which I appreciate a lot. One thing I want to ask is do you think Kuromyu will come out with another musical anytime soon and what arc do you think it will be from?
【Related post: Masterpost Furukawa Era Kuromyu】
Dear Anon,
Thank you very much for your kind words! I am happy to hear such enthusiasm from a Yunbastian fan ^^
About any future Kuromyu... the Japanese fandom too is getting increasingly anxious about Kuromyu’s future. Ever since 2013 Kuromyu news has always been updated within a year, but since the Grand Final Performance of ‘Tango on the Campania’ in mid February 2018 there’s been nada.
There are two major concerns that really do explain this lack of update however.
Concern 1 - Ciel
Reo is the most popular Kuromyu Ciel in 10 years history, but he is clearly too old to reprise this role now. His chemistry with Furukawa is also renowned, so it is conceivable that the MKP (Musical Kuroshitsuji Project) is waiting for people’s sentiments for him to cool down before considering a new Ciel lest this child will be met with unfair criticism like Tanaka Taketo did.
The first popular Kuromyu Ciel was Nishii Yukito, but he really got way too big too to reprise his role. When he was replaced by Tanaka Taketo, Tanaka didn’t even get a single chance to prove himself before he was already met with a tsunami of “eewl, give us Nishii back”.
Tumblr media
Not only is Reo the most beloved 3D Ciel, he is also the only Ciel who reprised his role with the same Sebastian. It is very likely that the MKP is trying to save any potential future Ciel from the same fate as Tanaka or Fukuzaki initially, because the Kuro fandom can be darn awful.
Until MKP is certain that they can find a child who can fill the enormous shoes left behind by Reo, I doubt they’ll announce any new Kuromyu, be it a rerun or a new production.
Concern 2 - Sebastian
Sebastian is also a major concern. After Yana had declared Furukawa above canon, it is basically inconceivable MKP would attempt any staging without being sure they can get Furukawa to reprise as Sebastian.
Though there is no doubt that Furukawa himself would be eager to reprise the role (as long as it’s canon), we can’t be sure TOHO will let him, or if he has any time at all. In 2018 Furukawa was nominated the Imperial Theatre’s prince/Ogosho on top of earning prize after prize. In 2019 he left a historical impact as Der Tod in ‘Elisabeth’, in 2020 he’s taken part in mainstream NHK drama (’Yell’) and the popular franchise ‘Confidenceman JP’... if this man wasn’t too big already last year, he certainly is too big now.
Tumblr media
After the Lycoris 2015, TOHO (the company Furukawa belongs too) has been sponsoring MKP which dramatically raised the bar for Kuromyu. Without Furukawa however, I doubt TOHO would continue their sponsorship... and I also doubt MKP can afford to produce the same quality without TOHO.
As I also wrote in this post, “I don’t think anyone can fill the shoes [Furukawa]’s going to leave behind. I honestly think that the moment Furukawa stops playing Sebastian, MKP would be put in a coma, if not just die.”
Conclusion
So do I think we’ll get any Kuromyu announcement any time soon? Personally I THINK whether there will be one really depends on:
when they judge the sentiments for Reo has cooled down sufficiently as not to condemn a child to being Not!Reo,
whether they can sell enough souls to TOHO to allow Furukawa to reprise as Sebastian (Furukawa has almost no career-autonomy left outside TOHO),
whether they can also get TOHO to sponsor their production.
In short, I THINK the answer is: probably not anytime soon... though I hope I am wrong, because my heart is itching for more Sebastyun!
What Arc for a hypothetical new Kuromyu?
I have touched upon this question before on my blog, but to sum it up.
I THINK it is unlikely they’ll attempt a Boarding School Arc because it is the least beloved arc among the Japanese fandom (the opinions of any other fandom don’t matter to MKP). The details of why I think so can be found in the post: do you think they’re going to do a musical on Weston college?”
As for which Arc I think has the highest hope of getting a musical adaptation, I think it is the Emerald Witch Arc. The details can be found in the post: "what are your thoughts on an Emerald Witch musical?”
For more about Furukawa, new Kuromyu, TOHO and MKP, please refer to this post.

Hey hey, I'm curious, what did you think of the murder mystery arc of kuro? It doesn't come up much, and I think mainly cause t had a small cast, a small arc, it was like a mini arc compared to the others, or felt like it. Not to mention, no reapers! So no surprise it happened, it was ok, and people move on.. But seriously, I'm curious about your thoughts on what happened during that time, what Ciel and Sebs did, how the servants acted, ect!
Hi, anon! I do have a few thoughts; I hope they’ll be of interest to you!
Although I enjoyed the murder arc (I love a good detective story), I think it’s one of the weaker Kuro arcs for a couple of reasons. First, there is a certain element of predictability. Especially if, like me, you read this arc many years after it was published, you know full well that Sebastian’s death has to be a sham (If he died for real, the manga probably wouldn’t have gone on for as long as it has), which takes a lot of the emotional clout out of his apparent demise and undercuts the suspense Yana was trying to create. Also, this arc happens to be juxtaposed against the circus arc, which to this day is one of Kuro’s most pathos-laden, impactful arcs, hence a very tough act to follow. In a way, though, the lighter tone of the murder arc did give us a bit of a breather!
I feel O!Ciel’s interactions with Arthur are noteworthy because they give us a glimpse into the childlike aspects of his character, such as his genuine enthusiasm for Arthur’s stories and the almost avuncular way Arthur treats him at times. It was also sweet and rather poignant to see the flashback of O!Ciel sharing the bed with his parents.
As far as Sebastian’s and our Earl’s interactions go, one key aspect of this arc is that they are fully in control of the game they are playing with one another and with the Queen. Sebastian immediately recovers from Charles Grey’s attack, since his would-be killer is but a mere mortal. O!Ciel’s grief and desperation after Bassy’s “murder” are entirely feigned, and butler and master easily manipulate the other individuals in the manor to achieve their desired outcome. When you think about it, the stakes aren’t really that high. For Sebastian, the incident is merely another instance of playing with his food. Now contrast this state of affairs with the Campania arc, where Sebastian is once again violently stabbed--but by a death scythe that nearly kills him. He and O!Ciel aren’t calling the shots on the Campania but quite literally fighting for their lives against a wily, formidable antagonist who’s caught them by surprise. For the first time, Sebastian’s objective (consuming the Earl’s soul) is in serious jeopardy. O!Ciel realizes that his “sword and shield” is not invincible. Suddenly, their game isn’t as fun anymore, the tension ratchets ever-higher, and, from here on out, the mood will become progressively grimmer.
Getting back to the actual arc in question (sorry for rambling!), this section of the manga also illustrates the close bonds among the Phantomhive servants. They are truly heartbroken when Sebastian’s “corspe” is discovered and do their best to comfort and support their beloved young master and each other. It becomes quite apparent how much they value “Mister Sebastian”-- along with the Earl, he’s one of the first people to give them a family and sense of belonging. For me, this makes the fact that Sebastian doesn’t care about them (trash demon) all the more gut-wrenching.
This arc is also notable for reintroducing Snake (precious boi). Although O!Ciel has managed to placate him for now, the audience is left to wonder when the truth of the circus members’ fates will be revealed, and what his reaction will be when it does...
One final observation before I shut up: I think this arc really hammers home the fact that something isn’t quite right about Queen Victoria. Of course, it’s always been odd that she would allow a young child to shoulder the heavy burden of being her Watchdog, but, when you think about it, her role in the Phantomhive manor murders is rather sinister. The whole affair is orchestrated as a test/punishment for the fiery ending of the circus arc...pretty sketchy behavior, if you ask me. Had Sebastian been human, he wouldn’t have survived this “test,” which would have resulted in O!Ciel losing his most trusted protector. This was when I really started having misgivings about the queen, though it’ll probably be a while before my suspicions are justified.
Thanks so much for your interest, and I hope there’s something worthwhile amidst all my drivel!

@my-lady-no-further said: The meme escalates to just random pics of her behind the scenes in his costumes (mostly campania arc bc that's when most of his big stunts were) and he just has #conspiracy👀 as the caption. I know you said in yours that he started on Disney Channel, but I had imagined his first tv role actually being on American Horror Story 😅. He was a beloved character on there twice so he was an obvious choice for Ciel. (He was actually picked for Broadway play he did, but that's also me being a theatre ho)
Edward was also in a band before this, before having to go to rehab and going through some stuff, and his "F5 persona" was an inside jab at his previous lifestyle. (He had a good spirit about it bc he's actually p easy going now)
OMG yes XD Actor!Ciel would definitely caption those random pics with the #conspiracy eyes LOL. Then he’d @ the whole cast, and they’d all play along. No reason why he can’t do both ;) He had a role on AHS before the Disney sitcom (I just think the idea of Ciel being on the Disney blacklist is too rich to pass up haha), and he was picked for the Disney sitcom not because of his role in AHS but because of his appearance in the Broadway play. Grell’s the one who looked through Ciel’s CV and went “this boy is hired!”
I love the Edward hc XD irl Edward used to act exactly like his F5 persona and still does to an extent, so when they asked him if he was OK with the jab, he was like “hell yeah.”

Rant: Respect Elizabeth Midford @i-like-phanime
I should write a fanfic about her thoughts (we rarely see her at all during the Lizzy Kidnapped arc). And when Lizzy does show up, she only gives us more questions. I hope Yana-Sensei does her justice. My girl deserves it.
I mean, it’s hard and easy at the same time to see WHY she’s agreeing to go with Mr. Strange ( I keep forgetting his name honestly.)
Yeah, it’s going to be a LONG ASS POST. Sit tight and grab a drink and some food. I’m heading deep into Elizabeth Midford’s character in Kuroshitsuji. She’s so underappreciated in this fandom, I swear.
Superficial and bubbly on the outside, deep as fuck with huge angst hidden behind a mask on the inside.
It hit me that EVEN HARDER (in this mangacap in Chapter 133) she does care about Ciel deeply and even very misguided in her attempts to make him feel open to his feelings/trauma about his past when he was kidnapped as a child.
Tumblr media
People tend to forget that Elizabeth is a teenager with TONS of baggage on her hands as well. The way many fans in the Kuroshitsuji fandom treat her as an annoyance and bother really gets under my skin.
If you had to go through society’s expectations of being a proper woman and at the same time feeling pressured to protect your future husband later down the line, you would feel very conflicted and confused at best.
EVERYONE needs to know that she is a teenager who lives in a society where if you are a noble girl from a very prestigious family, you are going to have to get married at one point or another (spinsterhood was look at with horror and revulsion). At a very young age, Lizzy path was already set for her: See chapter 58 for more information.
Tumblr media
Hell, Frances sympathizes with her daughter, even if she disagreed with not continuing her training. Her mother slaps her for speaking out.
Tumblr media
And yet, Frances knows what path she’s forcing her daughter to walk since she was born in the Watchdog family. This rare, and touching moment between mother & daughter is so significant. Frances knows how important this sort of training is to Lizzy as a mother and aunt. It’s unconventional training, but if Lizzy can survive being the Wife of the Watchdog, then she’s going to train Elizabeth the hard way.
Tumblr media
Frances only wants to protect her kids and Lizzy accepts her fate with tears in her eyes. At that moment she knows that Lizzy can’t run away. She has to continue her training no matter what. This was the pivotal moment she choose to make that vow to protect her beloved cousin.
At the very least, she grew to love Ciel as a person and feared that if she showed that she was more powerful/masculine (gender dynamics were pretty strict back in the day too.) he wouldn’t love her. It goes to show how much of an impact Ciel made on her as a child.
Tumblr media
She cared for what he thought of her so deeply, that she took those words to heart later on in the years.
Tumblr media
She wanted to help Ciel and protect him to the best of her ability. She knows what she’s doing is wrong (in her own eyes and her family’s eyes) but she feels very strongly that this is the only way to save him.
See Chapter 117 for more information.
Her has two personalities at this point: cheerful, immature, bright, VERY socially aware of her surroundings, and slightly overbearing, but chapter 117 shows us that she has another side to her she hides extremely well.
See Chapter 51 as reference.
Tumblr media
With her fight with Sebastian, she uses EVERY OUNCE OF HER TRAINING TO NOT GO BACK. She has to stay no matter what. It shows that she’s not as air headed as she portrayed herself. She can be stubborn, selfish, headstrong, and conflicted.
Tumblr media
Like, A FUCKING 14 YEAR OLD WENT UP AGAINST A DEMON. A DEMON. YA’LL DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH I FEEL WHEN SHE FOUGHT AGAINST SEBASTIAN. HOLY SHIT. Why is the fandom not crying out with joy about this? I know Lizzy fans were freaking the fuck out when ch. 117 came out.
Tumblr media
It shows so much of her character in that chapter, I wanted to hug my girl and never let go.
Tumblr media
I was inspired by this AMAZING POST. Check it out! I mean from Ch. 58 to Ch. 117 compare the two please:
Before
Tumblr media
After
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Midford has changed so much throughout Kuroshitsuji. It’s funny really how Yana-sensei slowly shows who Lizzy is subtly until it hits everyone in the face in Chapter 57.
At first, we thought the same thing as Ciel: She was kind, overbearing, and very forceful in getting what she wants. That was how Lizzy wanted to be seen as.
She’s in-tune to how Ciel feels as early as chapter 37 when she visits.
Tumblr media
When she figured out that Ciel was bedridden from Soma, she was worried about Ciel not opening up to her.
Tumblr media
Sebastian reassured her that Ciel was all right and Lizzy was relieved and slightly skeptical.
Tumblr media
Even if the fans didn’t see it initially, when she slowly integrated herself within Ciel’s inner circle, she’s very much emotionally intelligent from the get go. Even if her ways of cheering up Ciel was a bit much, she admitted it to Sebastian privately.
It’s funny how Ciel shortly AFTER the Campania Arc, in chapter 66 he was also tricked by Lizzy despite “knowing”  and accepting Elizabeth for who she was strength an all.
Tumblr media
It’s ironic, seeing that Ciel felt successful in tricking her in order to make her happy, Lizzy knew something was wrong the moment he “remembered” their Easter tradition.
Tumblr media
She then wonders what happened to him during that month he was kidnapped.
Tumblr media
It’s obvious that he’s changed into a completely different person because of the trauma he went through.
She knows that he’s changed and she’s trying her best to see him smile again despite the fact that forcing him to be happy/cheerful isn’t very good for his mental, emotional, and physical health over all.
But when you’re also broken, conflicted in where you stand in life, especially at such a young and impressionable age and a girl at that, it’s “hard to pick up the pieces” after someone who’s also suffered trauma in an untold amount.
What I personally want is an heart-to-heart conversation between the two of them. They’re both trying to push the other person away while at the same time, they’re both conflicted at how emotionally, mentally, and physically different they are from each other.  They’re both flawed characters who misunderstand what the other wants.
They really don’t know how to open up to each other and are hiding things that can be detrimental to their relationship.
Ciel is hiding and closing Lizzy away from his lifestyle in order to protect her from the dangers of being in the Watchdog’s family; a life she’s, ironically enough has been training all of her life for.
While Lizzy is trying and failing at making Ciel happy while at the same time trying to figure out where she stands with him as a person. She has a HUGE complex within herself in how to become a perfect Victorian Lady and how to be a woman who can protect the person she loves the most.
They’re both complex, broken, and fragile. At the peak of this arc, I hope that Lizzy finds herself as a person, not as Ciel’s fiancee she’s been told all throughout her life. I hope that Ciel is at least honest with her on how he feels about her and to reassure her that she’s fine the way she is.
I want them to talk without Sebastian or anyone on the outside to interfere with their relationship and I know that’s almost never going to happen.
And what do you guys think about Lizzy and the pressures she has to go through to conforming while simultaneously trying to hide who she is underneath?
I’m gonna quote George R.R. Martin since it matches Elizabeth so well:
My skin has turned to porcelain, to ivory, to steel.—  George R.R. Martin, A Storm of Swords
