Crawford had broken away from the bar for a reprieve of cold air and cigarette smoke. As he leaned against his bike, he drew a cigarette between his lips, adding smoke to the visual cloud of his breath that came with the chill in the air, the effects of that winter snow still lingering. His eyes flicked to the motorcycle beside his, the owner, with his dark hair and dark soul still slow to move on. “So you going to tell me where you been?” Crawford asked, box of smokes half-extended in offering.

“Woah!” Theo was lucky he had Quidditch training on his side. It might have been a few years but he still had the reflexes of a keeper as he managed to catch the toffee apple that came flying in his direction rather than taking it to the face. “You know, I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure these things are supposed to stay on their stick.” He snorted in amusement at the accidental fling, holding the sticky treat between his fingers.

Little to Enzo’s knowledge this entire thing was premeditated but as deceitful as it could be, Mateo had good intentions. Mateo never fully agreed with the methods of Augustine or even those beyond that but that’s what made this more believable. Doing this was the only way to make Enzo believe that he had someone fully on his side. Someone on the inside. Mateo had been speaking to the vampire for some time now, overtime attempting to gain his trust but now was the time to put it to use. There had been a distraction caused already, alarms going off which gave Mateo enough time to be able to get Enzo out. ‘’We don’t have much time.’’ He got the keys, unlocking the crll to which Enzo was locked behind. ‘’You have to come with me. Now.’’

The Sleepless Reapers had just pulled up to the parking lot, an orchestra of engines, gruff voices, and boots shuffling in through the door. As the crowd filtered out, Crawford hung back, leaning against the outside wall and drawing a Lucky Strike from the box kept inside his jacket. “Need one?” He asked, words a mumble as he balanced the cigarette between his lips, his light lifted halfway, eyes flicked towards Enzo, the sole member remaining to enter past the doors.
