amycus had been working hard on his business that he had not had chance to spend much time with his sister, or his friends of late. tonight was the perfect opportunity to make sure that he saw them again. truth be told he had been waiting to see alecto to see what had been going on, as well as telling her his own news. standing on the edge of the celebrations, half hidden by the shadows, he couldn’t help but roll his eyes at some of the nonsense going on in front of him. as he waited for his sister, he continued to take constant gulps of the firewhiskey he’d taken from a drunken guest.

It didn’t take long for Mercy to find Alecto on the Platform, people were already beginning to filter back into Muggle London and Pureblood families had a way of bonding together during times like these. In large crowds, it was almost a networking opportunity. She felt sure that was exactly how her daddy was spending the time. Glancing back to the barriers she had left her parents standing beside, she could see them deep in conversation with a Pureblood couple she recognised and laughed quietly to herself. No doubt a sale was being pitched and no doubt she would be receiving something beautiful, shiny, and expensive in the post as a result. Waving briefly at her mother, she turned back to Aly, a smile already lighting up her face. As far as she was concerned, there was nobody like Alecto Carrow. She was cool and calculating, so incredibly smart. When it came to getting what she wanted from her parents and brother, Alecto had taught her exactly when to bat her eyelashes, exactly how to word her sentences for maximum impact. The moment she was near the girl she pulled her into a hug, only stepping back when she felt the curls in her hair become crushed against her friend’s shoulder. She ruffled them gently, ensuring they were still perfectly in place. “I’m so happy you’re here! I found a new dress last night and I can’t wait for you to see it! You’re going to love it, Aly! It’s beautiful!” @implacablecarrow

WHO: Amycus Carrow and Alecto Carrow WHEN: Near the end of the ball, Christmas Day WHERE: Great Hall, on the floor
Amycus was done for the night. He could hardly stand. It was getting late, and he was seeing double. He smashed into a running House Elf, completely knocking their tray of champagne from it’s hands. (Ah, well, it can charm them back together.) Without looking back, Amycus continued to stumble his way towards the doors that would lead him back into the Entrance Hall. The more he walked, however, the more clear it became that he wasn’t going to make it. He was about halfway there when his reflexes failed him and he crashed hard into another person. They both fell to the ground, Amycus landing hard on his shoulder. Disoriented, he looked around. To his surprise, his eyes fell on his sister. “A-Alecto!” He slurred, struggling to lift his head, “I knocked you down. M’sorry.”

Brother Knows Best... For Once - Alecto & Amycus
"Oh you’re never gonna get it!  Never ever!  You’re not quick enough!  No you’re not!  Nope!  It’s mine!  Mine all mine mine mi-”
Amycus let out a sudden yelp, his arm pinwheeling around behind him as he stumbled backwards onto his ass, the sparkling string he’d been dangling from the end of his wand disappearing in a puff of smoke.
Gritzle’s long-fingered hands went to her face as she gasped out, “Master Amycus!!!”  She gripped her long ears in both hands and squeezed them as she shook her head, “Gritzle is so sorry Master Amycus!  She is so sorry, she should not have gotten in Master’s way!  Gritzle will punish herself with the drinking the boiling tar Master she will-”
The little elf paused in her self-castigation when she realized that her master was laughing uproariously.  The tiny little kitten he’d been playing with had pounced onto his stomach the second that he’d landed and was currently racing around him from chest to stomach back and forth searching for the string he’d been following and was tickling the handsome blonde wizard.  Her Master began to shriek for help even as he giggled and shifted beneath the tiny paws.
Gritzle shifted, licking her lips several times before she finally sighed let go of her ears, leaning forward to pluck the kitten off Master’s chest (trying hard not to laugh).  Holding onto the kitten, she shifted and said, “Gritzle is so very sorry Master, she wus so focused on the pie she wus making for Mistress Alecto in hopes it would get her to eat that she wus not watching where she wus going and she got in Master’s way and so she knows she must-”
Amycus was still chuckling as he picked himself up, absently straightening his clothes.  He shook his head and said, “First, if Gritzle punishes herself in ana way whutsoever then Master Amycus will do his own laundry for a week.”  He caught Acheron before the kitten fell out of his shocked house elf’s limp fingers, then went on, “second, it wus my own fault Gritzy.  I wus playing with Acheron and I got lost in where I wus going.”  He smiled and cuddled the kitten against his cheek, delighting in it’s purrs as he said, “We were coming down to get some milk and-”
He paused in his commentary when he re-ran what Gritzle had said and focused in on the comment about ‘getting her to eat’.
Meaning she wasn’t doing so now...
He cursed low in his throat and said, “How long has it been since she’s eaten?”
Gritzle sighed and said, “Kibky wus not certain Master, but... awhile now...”
Amycus nuzzled the kitten once more before handing him to Gritzle and striding away, saying, “We’ll be back for lunch love,” and disapparating to the one place he typically avoided like the plague... unless his Lecty was involved.
Once he was there, he went straight to his sister’s room and knocked, saying, “Lecty, come on, let’s go.”

“You’re staring,” Dorcas said bluntly to a woman who sat nearby at a cafe in Diagon Alley. She’d gotten used to double glances and looks of pity after her rescue, her face having been spread all across the papers, but she was growing tired of it. “Do you need something?”

over the edge // mary & alecto
The bright light of the full moon streaming through the windows lining the corridors almost made it not so bad that Mary was walking alone down one at night. Almost. She hadn’t meant to, of course, but she had lost track of time down in the kitchens and had to get back to her dorm somehow. A night of sleeping in a room of house elves just did not seem like a preferable option. But she refused to be caught off guard. Her lessons with Sirius hadn’t been going as well as she had hoped, but at least it gave her enough confidence to walk down the hallway, slowly, alert for any possible sound, wand already in her grip just in case she needed it at a moment’s notice.
There were a few false alarms, a branch hitting a window or a rouge cat out for a walk, in which Mary was glad that no one was around to see her jump into action over nothing. But, once it wasn’t a false alarm, she was glad her wand was at the ready when she turned to see who was approaching her, not giving them any opportunity to sneak up behind her. “Alecto.” She kept her voice quiet but icy, even as her heart jumped a little. She was far from the person Mary wanted to run into in a dark corridor. But, she reminded herself, Alecto never actually made moves to hurt her, as much as she threatened to. Maybe her bark really was worse than her bite. “Creeping around the castle so far from your room? That’s not suspicious.”

oh father where art thou // alecto & dorcas
It was horrible that Emma was gone. It’s all Dorcas could think about -- until her mind shifted toward another person missing from her life.
Dad.
The day the Death Eaters broke into her home and grabbed her father by force, fighting Dorcas away was the worst memory she had. They hadn’t killed him in front of her, but now that she had lost the love of her life, she didn’t have the hope she once did that her father was still alive. Him being alive was something she had always convinced herself of. Dorcas had spent a great deal of time trying to figure out what they could have done with him and why they took him in the first place. It’s what sent Dorcas to the Order with no questions asked.
But now people were dropping like flies and not just because of the dreaded plague but because of the damned war. What were the chances he was still alive and breathing? It had been so long now that the thought of him fighting for his life was becoming lost on her.
She began to wander the streets aimlessly, head lowered, watching the ground as she walked. She bumped into people but said nothing. The Dorcas that once was had disappeared. When she finally lifted her head, she saw an unwelcome face heading toward her. Alecto Carrow.
Normally Dorcas would feel rage but she couldn’t feel anything so when Alecto suspiciously asked the listless woman to a drink, Dorcas simply walked toward the Hog’s Head.
“You coming?”

Challenge - Alecto > Dakho
