The location was the stylist’s front garden in Camden.

Shot on 5x4 @polaroid type 55 / MPP field camera. I went through a phase of using the film and the monorail camera it fits.

I remember driving to London to shoot this from Brighton. There were a team of 8 of us on the day and I wasn’t feeling too well rested. The model was brand new at Models 1 and a very laid back skateboarder, which was a relief, temperament-wise. 

We went for an Alice in Wonderland vibe and shot a maximum of 3 sheets per set-up. No photoshop back then, only Jono’s amazing hand prints.

We all crammed into my tiny car afterwards around 5 and headed toward Victoria to drop everyone off. The tensions of the day, especially the morning, were long gone and we’d all bonded quite well professionally. 

Often it’s easy to forget these short moments in time but the world of professional photography, especially editorial and advertising where you’re travelling all over the world, is made of them. It’s a creative family of shared unique and very special experiences and they should be treasured.
