From one of my absolute FAVORITE places in New Orleans, and maybe even the world, the @auduboninstitute Insectarium, back in February 2020 🦋 It closed in November 2020 and is moving, apparently. So I'm glad I got two separate and glorious visits in beforehand. For this visit, in the butterfly garden, I absolutely cried. Just from an overwhelming sense of a tranquil but intense joy. Butterflies and I get along quite well. They know how much I love them. My first butterfly mount 💝 you learn so much the first time you do something. So many things to remember moving forward, above all, patience and respect. This is one of my ethically sourced specimens that has been in a relaxing chamber for just over 3 days. Overall, it was a great first experience of pinning and mounting a specimen.
