Fandom Gripe #23: I know that fandom is in some deep denial about its treatment of female characters that are canonically involved with fan favorite m/m ships, but do y’all realize that when you disappear female characters from the narrative wholesale to push the idea that your canonically straight fav was “secretly gay all along!” you’re making several bad implications? That 1) bi men don’t exist, 2) bi men do exist, but those who have genuinely loved a woman before cannot genuinely love a man after that (therefore bi men don’t exist in practice), 3) women cannot inspire genuine love and devotion in men, therefore any relationship with a woman is “lesser” than the one they later have a man (see previous parenthesis), or 4) to acknowledge the existence of a lovable woman who isn’t a terrible person, where if a relationship previously existed, it did not end because of “incompatibility,” is enough to destabilize the present relationship between two queer men?
Because why is the tgcf fandom allergic to acknowledging that He Xuan had a whole ass fiancée that he loved? Why does no one ever seem to remember that the kidnappings and murders of He Xuan’s sister and fiancée were the final straws that sent him on his rampage, and he still keeps a shrine to them in the present-day of the story? Why is her entire existence and significance to He Xuan as a man, character, and to his character arc disappeared in favor of pushing Shi Qingxuan—the brother of the man responsible for his fiancée’s death—into that same role, as if to say that her impact on He Xuan is significant... just not when it's from her? Why does He Xuan’s life in fandom essentially begin not just after her death but because of it?
can you believe that 10 years ago today fall out boy did the unbelievable. they did what bands can normally never do, at least not successfully, and absolutely not as successfully as they did. 10 years ago today fall out boy came off of their break, they came off of their hiatus and came back together with an entirely new attitude, new music, a new spring in their step and even more heart and passion and determination for what they were doing- making music that They loved for the people that needed it. they were so unsure, they didn't know if people would show up, if people still cared about fall out boy. they didn't know if this new album, this comeback album, would really be their last one- what if they did this, and no one cared? but 10 years ago today they announced that they were back, and got to see Just how many people cared. So Many people cared So Much that fall out boy was back in an invigorated, modern, Happy form. their shot in the dark comeback album, full of every ounce of passion and care they could possibly infuse into it in it, hit number one. sold thousands in its first week. was certified platinum. in those ten years? they've had two more number one albums, countless successful tours, a grammy nomination. and what about exactly 10 years later? they're selling out stadiums. releasing a highly anticipated eighth studio album. making music still infused with every ounce of passion and care that they could possibly infuse in it. for themselves, for us. because they still care, and we have proved that we do too. like a phoenix they rose from the ashes and are still rising!! we don't know when to quit, and they don't either 🥺
Just curious what the average level of personal investment in these sorts of things is. Like, how much do people usually get into silly stuff like this their friends ask of them? etc. etc. Which I know, only surveying a small sample on a very specific website means I'm not getting an exact average idea lol, but.. curious nonetheless .. Maybe reblog for bigger sample size but also this is not very serious at all/not worth a call to action gbhjbhjb
Thinking about "your weakness is how you always want to be the hero" and how the series returns to this at the end
Li Lianhua hated how he acted as Li Xiangyi and spent years trying to distance himself from it, but ultimately he still fell back into the similar patterns, for all his added experience
His main priority was always to "do the right thing" regardless of how that would impact on those around him. And it *did* impact those around him. From Qiao Wanmian and Shan Gudao as Li Xiangyi to Fang Duobing and Di Feisheng as Li Lianhua
Giving the Styx flower to the emperor so he could use it as leverage to guarantee Fang Duobing and his family's safety. Using the last of his power to save Yun Biqiu. Constantly putting others above himself whilst actively refusing to recognise that his self-sacrificial nature would hurt those he cared about most
And sure, he thinks he's going to die anyway. They're going to be hurt regardless and he can't do anything about that. His odds are low of the Styx flower even working. But ultimately, he refuses to even consider trying. Li Xiangyi has been dead a long time and Li Lianhua is just there to tide things over. What value is the life of a ghost
To the end, he lives and dies a hero. To the end, he refuses to live for himself.
man i’ve had pretty serious art block before in the past but it was always more a lack of inspiration/irl stuff draining all my energy, currently Not having art block but getting hit by my first bout EVER of feeling like i just straight up can’t make anything that’s good enough and oh my god how do people deal with this
the headcanon that regis can hang from the ceiling to sleep or rest like a bat is funny on its own, but when i consider geralt and others in the hanza holding conversations with him like this, it’s made better by my understanding of this as just an advanced “neurodivergent sitting” technique
I've seen a few people talk about how much smoother things would have gone for the cast if they had A Mature Conversation about things, but like. they're teenagers. Not only that, they're all gifted kid teenagers who also have Issues (except Hajime who only has the Issues). How capable do you think they are of going 'alright now boys we need to talk about your misogyny' or somesuch
alex's job description for every intro: look beautifully into the camera, nod at everything aleksa is saying, occasionally exclaim "yeah", "yep" and things of this nature, sometimes even say a sentence or two. nothing else
i feel shy talking here when i dont have anything worth sharing but i cant help feeling like ive said things in the tags that could be brought up in court
Hey if anyone wants to check out Moving Pictures Redrawn [a fan-made remake of the first chapter of BATIM that Mike n Meatly may have ordered to be taken down? It's unsure at the moment] Guess who downloaded a copy before they did that~
you'll never want that again. At least not with you hopelessly frozen in place.
Another funny thing...
........
Pfffft.... Tsukasa turned the table on him. Who would of guessed that?!
............
............
............
There was also that piece of Nene frozen in time, and Hanako really kind of took advantage of that thing...
his thoughts must be going back and forth with what Tsuaksa might do next. Though, I think maybe he feels 'Tsukasa' won't do much more than what he did?
I have to also remember Tsukasa doesn't really care if time is stopped or not to do a thing he wants. This boy... too powerful....
Hanako should be prepared '''if''' anything new would come his way very soon.......
******
Maybe now he even regrets doing this thing... it's cool when you're the one playing the game... but it's not so cool when you're being played with. Akane really... got back at him twice by now...
so it wasn't 'low' when you threaten with it aaah.. I want to see how he would react to what Tsukasa did later on!
...... that's enough pay back for him I think.... on all he said and did.......
