I feel like India's in the early stages of a cross between Putin's Russia and a Hindu version of Pakistan, and there's not a damn thing any of us can do about it
#all we can do is watch helplessly#oh we can vote#and maybe keep them out of our state#but the electoral college is designed so the Hindi belt has the most say over who is actually at the Centre#and i see no signs of diminishing popularity in those states even after everything he's done#this is Trump all over again#except that the US had one Fox News#we have several#and US celebs weren't so scared of speaking up either#probably they knew they wouldn't be raided by the police/be tied up in trumped cases/imprisoned#even srk/virat kohli aren't safe#the BJP has slowly taken over almost every democratic institution we have#including parts of the media/judiciary#via threats/bribery#and the Opposition parties are next to useless#too busy squabbling amongst themselves to present a united front#BJP#Modi#India#this is the one place where I don't have to censor these words#because guess what happens when you openly criticise the ruling party on social media?#particularly fb?#personal
