#but my being trans is the by far the biggest moment of growth in my life by a factor of 1000

Hi! Also a trans indie (wannabe) game dev here! Do you think being trans inherently makes us better game devs or do you think it’s something else?
ok ive actually put a lot of through into this over the years because my artistic skill skyrocketed when i came out and so did a lot of my peers, and i do genuinely think that it is tied to our transness.
long story short (and i can only talk about my own experiences here) i was unable to make authentic art pretransition as i wasn't living as my authentic self. there was a frustrating block that made me feel like i didn't have anything to say with my art, even if i was capable of making art on a technically competent level.
when my egg cracked and my identity was rebuilt i was able to make art that authentically reflects myself, as i am now finally being authentic to myself, and i already had a head start on the technical side of art making so it was like taking off training weights i didnt even know i was wearing for the first time

God people being angry bc the Hera died and the girls survive is one of the things I kinda expect it but surprise me.
And another anon:
people really are being like "actually literally everyone other than the lesbians were the best characters in fear street and it should've focused on them instead, but I'm not homophobic or anything" i don't know why i'm surprised
I dunno that many God people would be angry if Hera died... :P
But yeah, I get it. You know what, I'm gonna address a bunch of the complaints and comments I've seen. First: where is the media literacy?! What do people think they're watching? It's a slasher, most people, including likable, fun best friends, will die.
And despite how often this happens, I am surprised each time. I guess in this case I at least expected that with leads, as rare as that is, THEN they'd get a certain inherent sympathy that leads get. But the issue is, Certain types of characters have to earn it. The viewer actually starts off a little bit against them, waiting for them to justify their selection over someone more default in Western media.
This happens for a variety of people, in all kinds of combinations: men (and even many women) find it difficult to get women's viewpoints, straight people toward LGB people, cis people toward trans, white people toward POC, POC toward other POC, especially Black people. Even within groups, darker skinned people find it harder and it took me a very long time to feel the same empathy for desi characters as for white (in case you don't read my bio, I am desi).
Even people who've had one queer experience may feel judgmental toward other queer people, like recently we've seen a rise in frustration and annoyance with closeted people, right. The biggest victim of Sam's struggle with homophobia is not Deena, or even Peter, it's Sam! So many people act like closeted people are manipulating others for the joy of it, like it's a secret because of selfishness and not a deeply traumatizing fear! They're never granted that empathy, though. I've seen people call Sam boring and undeserving, meanwhile she's the girl who showed huge personal growth, fully came out to her scary mom, has a fun lowkey sense of humor, and made the decision THREE TIMES this night to die!
Now to Deena. Again, the way people view her from the outside instead of thinking, oh no, she has to try to force pills down her gf's throat and then drown her while hearing her best friends be killed, now she has to pick between her brother and gf, hoping that she'll be able to save both but possibly losing them. You know what it is, it's such a lack of good faith toward these characters. I said sympathy and empathy above, but really, it's simply not believing them of being capable of the same emotions and feelings as everyone else. There's this suspicion and bad faith jump to the worst motivations.
Like, other characters do this all the time? Prioritizing saving a loved one? There is almost no concept more generally pushed forward by Western fictional media than "a group that sacrifices the few to save the many means they don't deserve saving the many"?? That love and teamwork will always win out, that you don't give up or give in, that against all odds, every effort should be made to save everyone?
Speaking of which, going back to media literacy, I love Kate and Simon, enough to say that before the official airing, but the moment they were ready to sacrifice Sam? These movies don't forgive that kind of selfishness. Like, okay, usually that comes from very obvious bad guys, the kind of smirking, bullying jock that Peter was, who would normally survive to be able to pull something exactly like this and then be killed right when he thought he'd escaped but the movie playing around with tropes doesn't mean it's completely ignoring them.
It's funny, people talk about how bold media like GOT, The Boys, Succession, etc, are but really, where's the boldness when you know your audience is gonna eat up your straight white people doing shitty things? It's stuff like this, wanting your audience to like characters they normally wouldn't and allowing them to be messy, that is far braver.
HAVING said all that....thanks for letting me vent the thoughts that've been percolating, lol, but I don't think we should dwell on this. As hard as that sounds, because the more mainstream this is, the more ubiquitous the discourse and it's obviously more than just fiction, it's about the real life ways real life people relate to us, and clearly I have had a lot of thoughts about itttt, but let's not let them ruin it, eh? Get your frustrations out and then just have fun.
It's not our responsibility to try to defend or promote the movie or even, really, try to get its ratings up. It's incredibly unfair that we have to do that and surely media producers and neutral consumers expect things like review bombing and lack of audience sympathy and factor it in. We get two more movies, it's their loss if they can't enjoy them.

BNHA asks: 2, 12, 26, 30
Thank you!
2. Least favourite character
I had to think really hard about this one, but mostly just because I didn't want to give the obvious answer.
To name a few other characters I'm a bit eh on in some way or another (most of whom have the capacity to fix this)... The Meta Liberation Army are all pretty thin at the moment and haven't had a lot of time to carve identities for themselves (I like Skeptic a lot though), especially Trumpet who has very little to distinguish himself thus far. I'm also not a huge fan of how much they're playing Redestro for comedy now that he's not a primary antagonist.
Also as much as I like how other characters treat Magne in-universe and appreciate that there's some good trans representation here, Magne herself kinda sucked. She did almost nothing, was a cartoonishly masculine caricature, and died a very foolish death. Also killing off the trans rep is uhhhh not good trans rep.
All that being said... Yeah it's Mineta. I wouldn't mind him so much if he didn't have one joke that gets used way too frequently. Or if, like, that character growth he showed in the exam against Midnight actually stuck and he showed any sign of self-improvement. But nope, if anything he's gotten worse.
12. Any character you disliked at first that grew on you?
A few! Most of them are pretty obvious though, characters we weren't meant to like at first who got fleshed out later... Bakugo, Endeavour, Aoyama, etc.
For characters who weren't like that though I've gotta say it's Toga Himiko. At first she just felt like a pure cut and paste yandere archetype with no added substance. The Meta Liberation Army arc really did a great job of fleshing out why she acts the way she does though, and manages it without resorting to the Traumatic Event Backstory you'd expect. It also retroactively adds depth to her friendship with/defensiveness of Twice and Magne who had similar motivations for joining the league.
26. What moment was the saddest, or hit you the hardest?
Chapter 266. I don't really think I need to elaborate on that.
30. What is, if any, the biggest flaw you see in the series? Or something you would have done differently?
This is a tough one. I think MHA has a fair few broad flaws to pick on but no individual one is significant enough to really effect my enjoyment of it.
If I had to pick one that's kinda bothering me lately though, it's that I don't think Horikoshi really knows what to do with Deku at the moment. Like the early arcs managed to tie all the main story beats into Deku's character arc, but everything he's been setting up in the last couple years has so little do with Deku on a personal level that sometimes it feels like Hori is struggling to think of a reason for Deku to even be present for events (hell, we've had two arcs for which he simply was not present).
Also we need the female characters to have like, arcs and agency in the plot again. Give the Ryukyu agency some screen time, damn it!

Pre-senting, here upon this very first night of November, elsewise known as National Novel-Writing Month, the sequel to Cypora’s Guide to Becoming an Evil Queen! A tall tale centered upon the not-so sinister destiny of an autistic trans girl in a world of high fantasy based upon both Jewish and North American folklore and legends.
Here we are! The first 1817 or so words, a bit earlier than planned, because I reached a stopping point and need to rest after a nervous day at work. The text is below the Read More, but first, a reminder: NaNoWriMo is a big undertaking, and it will mean a lot to have some support and encouragement. How can you do that?
Keep your eye on the Cypora’s Guide to Cementing Your Rule as an Evil Queen tag on my blog. Story updates and thoughts will be posted there.
Look back at the tag for the original story, here; the posts from last year of the original, un-edited draft of the story can be found about halfway down this page.
Tell me about your favorite characters from the story—or draw them, if you like! You can find visual references in the art tag, or look at the stuff that inspires me, visually, in the inspiration tag.

And now;
30th day of the month of Vernary, the year 5647 CC
Alícha de Matos sat in a corner, staring into a cup of coffee that was long past even being counted as lukewarm, much less hot. She’d arrived in the small café in the “city” of Berry Hill when it opened in the morning, as she had done every morning since the end of the sabbath. Three days of making the gesture of ordering an overpriced mug, three days of waiting and watching.
By now, she had memorized every small detail of the café, from the mismatched chairs and tables, to the aging broadsheets and posters nailed to the walls from the days of the revolution, before she was born. Caricatures of the Icarian Empire and its leadership as monsters more grotesque than any she’d faced in the depths of a dungeon, and bold illustrations of revolutionary leaders in now faded colors. On the wall beside her, the red mane of Velvela had turned a sort of orangey-pink, like lox left out a little too long.
She was starting to think that the word she’d put out had been a waste of time, and the advertisements a waste of money. In a larger community, she’d have just hit up the local adventuring guilds, but Berry Hill was too small, too rural to even have a guild office run out of someone’s house or in the back of a shop.
Someone less familiar with adventurers—say, a wealthy citizen seeking to hire a swordswoman, spellcaster, or shootist to slay some monsters—might have assumed that a tavern, saloon, or bar would be the place to go to find them. And sure, that would be the case if you wanted to hire someone who had already won treasure and was happy to spend it on overpriced brandy.
But an actual adventurer looking for others like herself? Well, Alícha knew that the place to start was anywhere that served coffee or tea. She looked out at the crowd over a mug that she had only bothered to sip from when the café owner started to look sour at her, and tried to judge the current small crowd.
The first type coffeehouses attracted were ordinary people of the land looking for a kosher indulgence. Second were foreigners, visitors from outside the former Icarian Empire who were curious about what life was like now that the Icosans were either dead or gone. These showed up because of the third type: former revolutionaries, and those of like mind. The common sentiment was that the revolution started over a hot cup of dark roast, though Alícha was sure that café owners were the ones who popularized the idea. Whatever the truth of it, late nights of planning and strategic meetings over brown-stained maps had created a lifelong coffee habit, and the revolutionary generation and their children had proven the best thing for the business.
That generation was key. When the revolution—really, a great many small revolutions, rebellions, and insurgencies that happened to roughly coincide—achieved lasting victory, many of those at the forefront turned to seeking out treasures hidden away in the labyrinths and fortresses created by the Dungeon System. The most noble* claimed they were trying to liberate centuries of stolen wealth and property.
This café did not attract the most noble adventurers, but she hoped it would at least attract a few. Alícha looked out over those seated, standing at the counter, or loitering near the entrance, where a golem in a sandwich-board sign hawked extra-cheap cups of the weakest brew the café offered, a mix of leftovers and chicory root.
A western-looking woman in a lilac headscarf near the counter, haggling over exchange rates; most likely a foreigner passing through. Berry Hill might be a speck of dirt on the map, but it was a speck on the side of a major road, and travelers from afar often passed through. Other probable foreigners included the trio in fine black garb heavily decorated with colorful beadwork and copper, probably far-easterners† of the type who had brought coffee to the people of the land in the first place.
Seated further back was a woman who had been just as much a regular at the café as Alícha herself; all delicate features and the softness of a pampered lifestyle, with long blonde hair that curled beneath a red scarf in the way that suggested deliberate alteration rather than natural growth. Her green eyes met Alícha’s, and her expression hardened. A snob who thought herself trendy and important.
Among the lingerers out front, there was a more promising figure, who had something of the look of a lumberjack of the northwoods. Well, a lumberjack if clothed by someone who had forgotten when to stop knitting or weaving. Red plaid not as a shirt, but a robe that reached near enough to the ground that its ends were frayed and mud-stained, paired with a tuque that extended so far that Alícha thought it might have been originally intended as a thigh-length stocking for a giantess, rather than a hat.
The promising part was none of this, but the too-long sword strapped to the figure’s back by way of a bandolier that also lashed a very large bag to their hip. When they moved, Alícha saw what looked at that distance like an unusually large assortment of membership badges from adventuring unions and guilds. As the person turned to enter the café proper and come into better view, this was confirmed. The flannel of their shirt-robe parted to reveal faded blue trousers reinforced with old-fashioned plates of armor, and boots that were either gray-brown or else far too encrusted with mud to make their real color visible.
They made their way through the cafe, casting wide smiles that showed too few teeth, with several of those that remained well-chipped. Alícha could not guess at their gender from their appearance, though she supposed that it wasn’t proper to make that kind of assumption in the first place. She’d dealt with that enough in her childhood.
The likely adventurer reached into a pocket, and pulled out a crumpled sheet of paper, and shook it out, then looked around the café.
“Hey, uh,” they said in far louder a voice than was needed for the small coffeehouse interior or the volume of conversation therein, taking a sip of coffee from a cup at an abandoned table before continuing, “anyone know anything about this here ad looking for adventurers and such as?”
They were met with brief glances and a few expressions of contempt, but Alícha raised a hand and waved to herself.
The cracked grin returned, and the newcomer sat down heavily on the chair opposite Alícha without turning it around the proper way. A good thing, too, with the size of the sword on their back, which Alícha hoped they could actually use. This close, they did look to have the muscles for it, but many a new adventurer grabbed the biggest and scariest weapon they could without consideration for how to actually fight with it.
“Oh hey, you’re scrappy looking and suchlike,” they said as they scooted the chair closer. “Name’s Broke, on account of my pop had a bad sense of taste for a feller named Moneymaker. I’m here about the advertisement, likewise I said.”
Alícha boggled for a moment. “Your name,” she began, and hesitated, “is ‘Broke Moneymaker’?”
“Sure as a skunk is striped,” Broke replied, passing Alícha a card‡. “Excepting those as has spots.”
The card was not a typical business-card; in fact, it was a playing-card with text hand-written over the back in surprisingly precise and bold ink. Broke tapped a deck of other cards back into place in a box, while Alícha took a closer look.
BROKE A. MONEYMAKER
Ze/Zir
PRO-FESSIONAL ADVENTURER, BODYGUARD,
BOOK-KEEPER,
SWORD-SWINGER AND INK-SLINGER
“SUMS AND CRITTERS A SPECIALTY”
“I’m afraid I don’t have a card, myself,” Alícha said, offering a handshake. “My name is Alícha de Matos, of Martıkoy.”
She recalled the format of the card, and added, “she, and her.”
“Proper excellent and good to meet you, Miss de Matos,” Broke replied, returning the offered hand. Ze had some sort of curious tube or hose wrapped around zir wrist, with the rest continuing further up zir sleeve. “Say, wait a minute or less. Ain’t you the Alícha such as some people been calling ‘the Breaker’, on account of what you done to dungeons?”
“Is that what they’ve been calling me?” Alícha sighed, and fussed with her eyepatch. “I suppose I’ve been doing things on my own for too long.”
“That’d be whatfor you made this bill of advertisement?” Broke guessed, waggling the paper. It was not the only one Alícha had paid to have posted, or else she might have been uncomfortable with Broke so casually keeping it to zirself.
“Yes, it is,” Alícha said, patting the paper down flat on the table and stopping the crinkling noise it made. “I’ve realized there are reasons I should involve myself in the adventuring community more, and either join, or if necessary, form a party.”
“Well that sounds reasonable,” Broke replied, the grin returning. Alícha wondered just how much sugar the strange-speaking androgyne ate on a regular basis. “One presumes such terms and conditions for party formation as are de-fault across most unions and guilds?”
She shrugged. “As I said, I’ve not been very involved in the community. We can go over what I had in mind, and I would welcome suggestions.”
Alícha and Broke started to discuss the fine contractual details of forming an adventuring party, including division of resources and starting finances as well as shares of any treasure, even pausing so that Broke could order zirself a proper cup of coffee on Alícha’s coin. In spite of the oddities of zir speech, Alícha quickly realized that ze had a mind for details that gave truth to zir card. Considering that canniness, Alícha made a point to keep quiet on exactly the reasons she wanted to get a closer look at the adventuring community. Her recent defeat seemed spurred by a hatred of adventurers not only by monsters, but humans as well. If there was reason for ordinary people to mistrust adventurers, it might be that there was corruption in the community. Getting more involved might be risky, but she needed to find out for herself.
She was focused enough on this and the discussion, that she didn’t notice the close attention the pampered blonde paid her or Broke.
* Or at least, those who most ardently insisted on their nobility.
† Said “far-easterners” referred to themselves as being from the west, which was generally confusing for everyone involved, requiring the matter to be ignored during discussions. This led to a lot of circuitous avoidance of giving directions, especially difficult in planning trade routes.
‡ The Knave of Swords, in this case.

[TRANS] SNSD ‘Thanks To’ Messages in Holiday Night, credit sonexstella
“HOLIDAY” VERSION ‘THANKS TO’
HYOYEON It has already been 10 years since Soshi and SONE became one, first of all, clap clap clap, many congratulations on 10 years! And! Ta dah~~ 10th anniversary gift!! Our 6th full length album has come out~~^^ Not only the title songs, but we really like all of the songs on this album, so we prepared it excitedly, hehe. There are so many people to whom we want to express our thankful and loving hearts. First of all, manager-nims who spend the most time stuck to Soshi! (Sungwoo oppa, Yongdeok oppa, Minjin unnie, Sungjoon oppa, Seungwoo-sshi, Songsook-sshi, Changju-sshi) You work so hard, hehe. Thank you for being with pretty Soshi for a long time. And everyone who worked on this album with Soshi this time, Heemok oppa, Ara-sshi, and staff, thank you so much to everyone~! I remember each and every one of you. Yes, alright~~ And our SNSD members! It has been over 16 years that we’ve spent together, where we practiced, debuted together, received the title of the best girl group and we are now celebrating our 10thanniversary. Thank you to my very precious members, I love you Our SONE who cheered us on and gave us lots of love so SNSD could always shine bright for a long time!! It’s reassuring to have SONE by my side, thank you and I love you~~ Lastly, thank you to Lee Sooman teacher, President Kim Youngmin, CMO Nam Soyoung, CEO Han Semin and director Tak Youngjoon for their on-going support^^!!
SEOHYUN Hello~ Our SONE, my people who I’m thankful for… I still can’t forget our first meeting~ At SNSD’s first debut stage where fear and nerves co-existed, we were able to have courage because of your warm gaze of support and your loud cheers~!! You were always there behind and beside us, like a shadow, and you became a big shade that protected us, and because you were always with us, you don’t know how reassured we felt… Now SONE are comfortable like friends and have become a precious existence like family!! Each and every one of the countless memories that we created together have become a part of my life and it will remain forever in my mind as the most sparkling memories of my life… We experienced so many moments together… In countless moments that only we can feel, we became each other’s strengths and matured together… Because there was all of you who gave us unchanging love, the person that I am today and the SNSD that we are today could exist… I’m truly, truly lucky to have met all of you in my life. To all of you who are giving us love without change, I will become dependable artist Seohyun who you can be proud of…^^ I’m thankful and I thank you again, to the point where there aren’t enough words to express it… I love all of you, exactly with this feeling… My unnies… Our unnies who I love~~ Now really… You know that we all know what each and every one is thinking just by looking at each other’s gazes and expressions~ Hehe. It has almost been over 10 years since we’ve been together… My unnies who I love who are really beyond family now!! All of the times that we spent together for 10 years are passing by like a kaleidoscope… Times we laughed together, times we hurt each other, times we resented one another, times we were happy together, times that were difficult, times that were fun… Because we were together for all of these times, it was precious, I was happy, and I could withstand it… Our time when we became each others’ strength… For me, all of these times have become the most precious memory that I will remember forever… In every moment, unnies were beside me so I was never alone and I felt reassured… Meeting unnies was truly big luck in my life… I’m very thankful, I’m thankful again, I’m sorry and I love you… You know my heart, right~ Even if 10 years pass, or 100 years pass, I will still be SNSD’s maknae Seohyunnie…
YOONA High school girls who would kick diligently have already spent 10 years of time and are preparing such a cool 10th anniversary album. It still doesn’t feel real but it’s really cool and I’m happy that we were able to reach such a milestone day! It’s very difficult to write about each and every person as there have been so many relationships up to now. First of all, my family who is always beside me to become my strength and our staff, who gave me countless help, cheer me on and work hard so I could become the SNSD that I am today, thank you so much. When I look back, I spent my teens and 20s, an important time for growth, radiantly together with our girls. SNSD is an existence that gave me countless opportunities and a huge sense of self-esteem. I am most thankful to our members who I love, who are my unnies, my dongsaeng and also my friends!! Lastly and most importantly – our SONE. Don’t forget that SNSD is here now and Yoona is here, because our SONE was here! To me, SONE’s love and encouragement is always a restless and biggest source of strength~ SONE and members. As we always have, going forward, whenever we are happy or things are difficult, I want us to comfort each other and tell each other to have strength~ Many, many congratulations on 10 years and going forever, I love you forever for the rest of my life~~~ Thank you all for always standing by my side
SOOYOUNG When no words seem like they will provide comfort, when you feel alone, when you feel like these things are only happening to you… When you feel like the world is unfair, when everything feels cold and heartless to you. If one person received comfort through our smiling faces, our hopeless cuteness or our clear and pure singing, it made me think that the last 10 years of my life were enough with that… That’s the thought that came to my mind. It makes me think SNSD’s identity is ‘warm comfort’. Right now in this moment, if there’s someone somewhere listening to “Into the New World” with renewed dreams, I hope this album is a gift that opens up a new and different world… That is the definition and meaning of our 10th anniversary. I hope countless people overflowing with energy who were comforted by us gather and become an even warmer generation. That generation which is still to come will be even more beautiful than Girls’ Generation. ^^ I want to thank all of these people for existing.
TAEYEON In all of my time as SNSD, I don’t think there was a time when I had as many thoughts as this time. It’s an album that’s that much more meaningful. Thank you so much to staff and all SM employees who worked hard together with us and made our 10th anniversary possible. And more than anything, our members We grew up together since we were young and we’re celebrating our 10thanniversary… Thank you for protecting SNSD and let’s be together for a long time going forward Lastly, the reason that SNSD could exist! Our SONE Thank you so much for always giving us love and being by our side so SNSD could reach our 10th anniversary. Let’s grow old together and meet for a long, long time in health I sincerely love you and thank you. Let’s go for a long time.
YURI The reason why this day didn’t feel that special, like a birthday you have every year, is because I’ve never once thought about this as our end… To us, the tenth year is only 10, merely a passing number^^ 10 years of time have indifferently passed and the fact that we are still together today means that to us, we are already each others’ greatest gifts. I’m still thankful, you’re still precious to me and also, I’m sorry… I love you members, a family who loves even my pains! Mom, dad, oppa, first-born Hani , second-born DooE , our SM family who’s always with us, each and every precious person who helped make a happy day like today… Thank you so much. Be sure to grab the wish (SONE) that has grown with two hands, don’t let go of it. We wanted to say these earnest words, that my life-long wish (SONE) is only you^^ [Referencing lyrics to “오랜 소원 (It’s You)”, a song that she penned for the album.]
SUNNY God, who is my source of strength, I’m always thankful and I praise you. Our family~ I really love you a lot. Thank you for always being my source of comfort. I will be even better going forward. Lee Sooman teacher. Thank you for constantly trusting me for over 10 years. I respect you. President Kim Youngmin. CMO Nam Soyoung. CEO Han Semin. Thank you. I love you! My nest, SM family, who always become my strength. Thank you. I will work hard going forward so I can be an artist you can be proud of. Our managers who I love and hate~ Taksama. Kkong leader. Deok team leader. Minjin unnie. Sungjoon oppa~ And different managers who I need to become closer with going forward! You are the only people who I can open up my heart to and share opinions comfortably. I’m always thankful. Please take good care of us going forward. Our staff who we’ve spent a long time with! God Sookyung. Heewon director. Other experts who we’ll continue relationships with going forward~ You work especially hard with me, who has no interest in her appearance… But thank you for always making me pretty! Let’s be together going forward~ People who I love who I drink or eat with when I’m having a hard time or when I’m happy and comfort me my patting shoulders, or patting my butt… I’m really thankful. Going forward, if I suddenly contact you and say I want to see you and I hope you’ll continue to gather, meet and be with me. I always owe a lot to you. Thank you. Members who I love~ What my heart feels for you cannot be adequately expressed with words. For being together with me for over half of my life so far, for withstanding when things are difficult and for laughing with me when things are happy, thank you so much. Whatever happens to me going forward, I will always be “SNSD” together with you. Let’s not fall down in the face of whatever wind that comes our way. Let’s hold on to each other and not let go. Thank you. My SNSD. And our “SONE” who continuously sent us love so that “SNSD” can exist. I’m sorry that we couldn’t always have happy things happen to you.  And I don’t think I can say that only endlessly happy things will happen going forward. However, what I can promise is that I will always be sincere going forward, like how there has never been a moment up to now where our hearts were not sincere. I was so thankful for your heart that I sometimes felt sorry and I was afraid. But when you think about it, all of those times have collectively created a solid relationship between us. I’m so thankful. I love you. Now, I trust you wholeheartedly. So I hope “SONE” can trust me and we can be more comfortable. I will express more. I hope we can love each other going forward as we have up to now. Thank you for allowing me to give my best efforts. I will work hard to become an even better person going forward. Thank you for being my “SONE”. I love you.
TIFFANY [Omitted for translation as her message is in English. ]
“HOLIDAY” VERSION ‘THANKS TO SNSD’
YOONA I can’t believe we are a group that’s celebrating our 10th anniversary, we are so cool… Our SNSD who radiantly spent our youth together ^^ Going forward, let’s be together for a long, long time like we are now. I love you, members
SEOHYUN Unnies~~ It’s me~ It’s unnies’ maknae maknae makdoongie Seohyun!! Keke. I can’t believe it has already been over 10 years since we’ve been together… Time passes really fastㅠ Right…? Now no one makes fun of us for being young.. but since we were really young, we grew up sharing and feeling everything together and because unnies were there, I could withstand difficult and exhausting moments and I could overcome them.. Of course, there were times we resented one another and hurt one another but through those experiences, we understood one another better and our hearts for one another deepened~ It must have been difficult because of maknae who has a lot of greed, is overflowing with drive, nags a lot and is inflexible but thank you so, so much for loving even that side of me and cherishing me~ There were many times where I couldn’t express my heart toward unnies well because my expressions were clumsy. Unnies who are always beside me sometimes felt natural so there were times when I didn’t realize that gratefulness and preciousness. Because we were together, we were happy and because we are together, I dream of days in the future that will be even happier.. Wherever, whenever we are, even if time passes, the one thing that is definite is that all of the time we created together will be forever and that going forward, SNSD will be forever too… With all of my heart, I sincerely love you… My unnies Unnies’ forever maknae Seohyun
SOOYOUNG Members who were there at the same time, in the same situation, in the same moment, in the same mood as me. There are 7 others of me, and because I wasn’t alone, I was able to come to 10 years. Moods that only we know, memories that only we know, sighs that only we know. I’m happy because I can share this overflowing happiness of the 10th anniversary with you. I love you
SUNNY I love you going forward, and you might laugh saying it’s hasty but… with sincerity, I love you to forever
HYOYEON Times that I will never forget,, Because you girls were there.. For me, it was time that felt too difficult at times but because I was together with you girls, I didn’t know it was difficult, I was able to overcome a lot, and I was happy.. I will always be with you girls and I will triumph over a lot. I love you.
YURI Hyoyeonnie, Sooyoungie, Taeyeonnie, Tiffany, Sunny, Seohyunnie, Yoona who were always with me during the same time, thanks to you girls, I think I laughed a lot and cried a lot at the center of the world^^ Truthfully, I still don’t feel the meaning of the time that is the 10th anniversary.. because I believe that you will forever be my friend and family like how you are by my side right now! Thank you, I’m sorry and I love you.
TIFFANY Happy 10 years and to many more to come! You are my forever & always! I love you, girls*
TAEYEON You girls are truly incredible! You girls are my past, my present and my future. I love you Soshi
“HOLIDAY” VERSION ‘THANKS TO SONE’
YOONA Thank you so, so much for being with us for SNSD’s 10th anniversary~ Because all of you were here, the cool SNSD that we are now could exist! Going forward, be together with SNSD I love you.
SEOHYUN When I would laugh, in front of my eyes, there were innocent child-like SONE who were happy and laughing with me and when I was hurting, there were mom-like SONE who would tear up and be hurting even more than me… When I’ve lost my way, there was always lighthouse-like SONE… If someone insulted me, there was SONE who was dependably on my side who protected me until the end… In every moment and memories of the last 10 years, SONE had a place like this.. Thank you so, so much for holding our hands tightly for a long time…. Our memories will be forever, and my heart that loves SONE will be forever too… I love you And going forward, I will love you a lot too
YURI Even though I can’t always be with you, you’re much more precious than the indifferent things that are always with me… I love our current appearance. And our appearance that will change with time too… Like how I was your dream, now my dream is you too.
SUNNY I reflected back on my life because of you. And I braced my current heart once again. I want a future with you. You are very precious to me. I hope you trust me. And I sincerely love you.
TAEYEON Our fans, whose existence is too hard to express in words You’re so precious and thank you^^ Whatever we do, whenever and wherever, SONE always dependably protect us and give us strength Let’s watch each other for a long time like this
TIFFANY “Even if a long time passes and yours and my appearances change a bit, I want to dream with you forever like this, you’ve become my wish (SONE), you’ve become my trust, even if long eras pass, I want to dream with you forever.” (Lyrics of “I Want To Dream With You Forever”) Many, many sincere congratulations for the 10th anniversary. Thank you & sending all my love.
HYOYEON Because SONE is here, I’ve always been able to start challenges, instead of end. Even if I say thank you so much to SONE, who have been my big support system and strength, until my mouth wears down, it will not be enough. The memories we’ve made together are so precious, the time we’re spending together right now are so happy and the time we’ll spend together going forward makes my heart flutter and I’m anticipating it! I want to dream with you forever, SONE.
SOOYOUNG I’ll be turning thirty soon and I feel like I’ve become a child who is dancing looking only at her parents at a recital. I want confirmation from SONE that we did well coming to this point, and that we’re still doing well and that we’re still pretty  and I wanted to show you first. When I see you being satisfied while looking at us, that makes me the happiest in the world. Because I want to hear “As expected, it’s SNSD”, because so many people are watching us, I thought that we needed to thoroughly prepare because of that burden and responsibility, but the people I want confirmation from and want to hear compliments of “you did well” from is SONE, and I felt that even more so while preparing this album. If you say ‘you did well’ to us, that’s enough. Whatever happens, if you like it, we like it too ^__^ Thank you for allowing me to run on stage, with your sparkling eyes. Without your gazes, we wouldn’t have been able to make these 10 years. I love you

What’s the Most Important Lesson You’ve Learned Along Your Journey?
Every twist in our story, challenge we face, and obstacle we overcome is an important part of our story.  These difficulties make us stronger and wiser and prepare us for what’s ahead.  As we grow and succeed we may imagine that soon the challenges will fade away, but in our conversations with business owners, artists, creatives, academics, and others we have learned that the most common experience is that challenges never go away – instead they get more complex as we grow and succeed.  Our ability to to thrive therefore depends heavily on our ability to learn from our experiences and so we are asking some of the city’s best and brightest: What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Gerardo Davila | Actor
Here’s a brief summary of my acting journey. I started acting as an adult at the age of 29. Before that as a teenager i was in the Garland High School Mighty Owl marching band and part of a rap duo called Latin Royalty. Having experienced this early on in my life was vital for my creativity and a strong work ethic. When i signed with my first agent, he told me to do 3 things to be successful in this business. 1. Always Be Training 2. Always attend every audition possible and 3. Always update your headshots every 2 years. So i immediately joined an acting class where i’ve been training every week for the last 15 years. This year i was accepted to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London where i enrolled and trained in the Fall. I plan to return to London in March and August of 2020. My acting instructor also said if i wanted to be one of the greats it would take 10-15 years of hard work aka paying dues. I believe there is no such thing as an overnight success. There’s a saying that goes “the more you learn the more you earn”. I will say that i have been rewarded for my hard work. I think i became an actor by accident or maybe it was my destiny, but i also believe that if you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life. So the most important lesson I’ve learned in my journey so far is that patience is necessary, persistence is crucial and belief in myself is key in order to survive and achieve success in the entertainment business.

Networking truly makes the difference between you and someone else, but what truly makes you shine is going the extra mile for people. Giving people that WOW factor weather it is getting someone a bottle of champagne when they check into their hotel that you booked or inviting someone to your family thanksgiving because they can’t get home for the holidays. I live by making people feel included and special to the best of my abilities.

The most important lesson I’ve learned so far on my journey is to be yourself. Follow your heart and work hard for your respect and perfecting your craft. A good thing comes to those who wait, but a greater thing comes to those who go after it.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned so far in all of my years is that if you want to succeed you need to really put your time in something and have patience with it. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a relationship, a job, or building a house!! Do something right the first time and then you don’t have to do it again!

Victoria Tran | Videographer | Photographer
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that it doesn’t hurt to ask, whether it be for opportunities or advice. The worst that can happen is someone saying no. Interested in shooting a concert in the area? Just ask. I actually got my first concert gig by just asking the artist on Snapchat lol!

As much as I love my iPhone, I also resent it. It has created a world in which everyone demands an immediate response to emails, text messages and phone calls. I have learned that in many situations it is better to let someone wait for a response versus replying instantly. In a negotiation setting, sometimes silence is the best play for my clients. In times of stress it allows you – and the other parties involved – to breath, assess the entire situation and formulate a plan. When we try and multitask, a quick response can read a completely different way than intended. When I look back on my journey, my career and my life, the times when I have taken a breath versus reacted quickly have lead to much better outcomes for not only myself but my clients and family – like the time when my toddler smashed my iWatch to smithereens, a blessing and a curse!

Throughout my journey in photography the most important lesson I learned is to be inspired because being inspired by other photographers work motivates me to improve my photography skills and to expand my knowledge on photography.

Life is full of valuable lessons, each second of every day; however, one of the most important lessons that I’ve come to learn to be the most important, is to live life. Two words that are easy to comprehend and advise to yourself, but difficult to put into action. In today’s high paced society, we’re constantly thinking of our daily “to-do’s”, once we make a schedule of how to accomplish them, we move forward to the following day, and so on and so forth. From personal experience, trying to juggle work, school, CrossFit training, family, friends, health, and being present in my life, I always feel that I’m constantly on the go, trying to survive each day. This can become overwhelming at times, but when I started to prioritize my daily tasks it became easier to be present in the moment. Slowly, instead of everything being a priority that day, or trying to make everyone around me content, my priorities were better spaced out, giving me more time to live life. Unfortunately, we live in an all-or-nothing society, which can pressure us to want to take care of everything all at once, or throw in the towel. That shouldn’t be the case. We don’t have enough hours in a day that we need for us to accomplish everything in one day, yet alone a week, but that’s also the beauty of life. We get another chance the next day. This gift of life can’t be confused with becoming lazy and pushing everything off until the next day, thinking that we have more time. It also can’t be confused with being selfish and only navigating your own life without thinking of your loved ones or helping others. That is not how it works, and that is not the point of our journey in life. Our goal in this life should be to be able to take charge of our daily “to-do’s”, by prioritizing what’s important, including the time we need to ourselves to enjoy life. Working in oncology, I have seen firsthand how short this life can be and how easily it can be taken away. We do not need to let the storms of life overwhelm us and throw us off. The storms will come and go- that is life. We need to be the captain of our journey and learn to breathe through the storms, knowing that the sun will shine tomorrow, and to just be present in the moment and live life.

Forsythia Hopkins | Modern Plantswoman & Cacti, Succulent and House Plant Curator
The most important lesson I’ve learned in my journey with Cacti.On.White is that just like plants growth is organic. If you have a passion for something let that be your driving force on the road to success…. allow it to happen organically and you will never get tired of the ride.

Kevin Giles| Student & Military
@the_nikon_icon
The most important lesson I’ve learn is that life does not always go as planned. However, it’s more than one route to get to your destination. Also, consult God in everything you do and do not go against his will. The more you go for what you instead of what his plan and will for you the struggle will get harder and harder. So be obedient!

Working through my own issues with chronic pain, weight gain, unknown causes for autoimmune disorders. I felt 80 years old. Having to figure out the puzzle pieces on my own after the medical community failed me for many years took a toll. A chinese medicine doctor helped me on my journey, I had Breast Implant Illness. I have since explanted with Dr Paul Pin in Dallas, Texas. It seriously made me become a better instructor. It pains me to admit, I use to be “that instructor” that would secretly judged someone if they were overweight. It never occured to me that other issues could be a factor. Getting BII was such a humbling blessing. I now will champion for my clients and will be your biggest supporter. Funny how life works out like that. I am qualified to get you out of pain because I lived with pain for years. I qualified to help you in a body you feel trapped in, I was a prisoner in mine for years. I’m qualified to help you with body issues, I’ve overcome mine and I know your pain. I see you and I don’t judge you.

Kevitta “”KJ”” Jackson | Serial Entrepreneur| Professional Makeup Artist & Real Estate Investor
Growing up I was influenced by my father(a truck driver), who was a man of great discipline, structure and strong organizational skills. My beautiful mother also influenced me as an entrepreneur. She owned a salon in Mississippi called “”Bold and Beautiful Hair Salon””, where I would often watch her meticulously craft the perfect look, all while igniting my passion for the beauty industry. This is where the journey began for me and I would use my little sister (and those around me)as my muse for years to come.
In 2007, my mother passed due to Multiple Sclerosis, my father soon would follow in 2009 in a fatal motorcycle accident. Although I felt stricken, these events would serve as the nucleus of my total growth and transformation. Fueled by the burning desire to continue to bring honor to my parents, (by faith) in 2015 I started my first company in Dallas, Little Dot Solutions. The focus of this company is to offer simple logistics and creative real estate investment solutions to clients in the DFW area. As a serial entrepreneur, you never settle for just one idea, so I was compelled to fulfill my desire. This evolution has led me back to my passion for the beauty industry. There is no greater feeling for me, I love making people beautiful. So, after becoming a certified artist in Dallas, I launched FaceCrown Beauty in 2019 offering professional makeup services and classes throughout DFW.
The most important lesson I’ve learned in my journey so far is that we all have the power to re-invent ourselves. Peace is the new wealth!

@rinowenmedia
If I were to say that I’ve learned 1 lesson throughout my journey as a Makeup Artist and Business Woman, I would be making that up! Lol I’ve learned so many lessons.. Some from others and some, just from life experiences. The biggest lesson that I’ve learned is to not be a slave to fear and to see myself through my eyes and not others! I can not tell you how many times I’ve let opportunities, ideas and dreams pass by because of fearing that I was not good enough or I wouldn’t perform to a certain degree or just being rejected. I’ve had to speak things over myself that others didn’t. I’ve had to learn and understand what it truly means to have faith over fear and stop regretting missed opportunities. Keeping God first in everything has played a very vital role to my growth. What he has uniquely gifted me with, no one else can do and no one can take that. I can’t let fear or the validation of people hold me back from being the person God has purposed me to be. To be great! To be extraordinary! To be consistent! So, I trust him and I just do it!

That I am where I am supposed to be. At times I’ve worked towards a goal(s) and things aren’t moving as fast as I’d like, or maybe a didn’t get an opportunity or recognition that I wanted in a certain area.
I have learned (sometimes still learning) that God’s timing is perfect. I look back sometimes at things that I rushed and got frustrated about. I understand now that things needed to happen the way they did so that I could learn and grow. I’m trying not to rush the process. I’m enjoying where I am personally and professionally right now. Also— I’ve stopped comparing myself to others. Comparison is the thief of Joy.

Anthony Gomez | Photographer
The most important lesson I’ve come to familiarize myself within my journey into photography begins with my persistence. Starting from absolutely no prior knowledge on how cameras function I challenged myself to build experience. During my journey into photography, I discovered that thanks to persistence I allowed myself to become determined and overall improve my photography experience. Most importantly, I’ve come to understand that within the vast variety of photography techniques I learn to discover myself only through pure experience. Therefore, Discovering where I pertain became far more rewarding than letting others label me within the community of talented photographers in Dallas. As a result, I’ve learned that an optimistic mindset better prepares me for the inevitable challenges when working in the field of photography.

Jeffrey Tambor's Transparent Announcement and More Shocking TV Exits
New Post has been published on http://gossip.network/jeffrey-tambors-transparent-announcement-and-more-shocking-tv-exits/
Jeffrey Tambor's Transparent Announcement and More Shocking TV Exits
Transparent without the trans parent? Looks like it might happen. Jeffrey Tambor, who has come under fire with allegations of sexual harassment on set of the Amazon series, announced he does not see a way he can remain on the series.
“Playing Maura Pfefferman on Transparent has been one of the greatest privileges and creative experiences of my life. What has become clear over the past weeks, however, is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago,” Tambor said in a statement on Sunday, Nov. 19. “I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue. Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don’t see how I can return to Transparent.”
Amazon had no comment, and no announcement about whether or not season five will go on as planned as been made. Trace Lysette accused Tambor of acting inappropriate on set.
“Jeffrey has made many sexual advances and comments at me, but one time it got physical,” Lysette alleged in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “My back was against the wall in a corner as Jeffrey approached me. He came in close, put his bare feet on top of mine so I could not move, leaned his body against me, and began quick, discreet thrusts back and forth against my body. I felt his penis on my hip through his thin pajamas and I pushed him off of me. Again, I laughed it off and rolled my eyes. I had a job to do and I had to do it with Jeffrey, the lead of our show.”
A former assistant also leveled claims against the actor, which he denied.
If this is indeed the end of Tambor on Transparent, it’s just the latest shocking exit in TV history. Take a look back at some other surprising exits from hit shows now.
CBS
Grace Park, Hawaii Five-0
Grace Park, who shot to fame on Battlestar Galactica, left Hawaii Five-0 ahead of its eighth season. Reports indicate she and costar Daniel Dae Kim were trying to renegotiate a higher salary to match their costars.
CBS
Daniel Dae Kim, Hawaii Five-0
Daniel Dae Kim and his costar Grace Park left the CBS drama in between seasons seven and eight. In a Facebook post, Kim said the choice to leave was difficult, and that he made himself available to come back, “CBS and I weren’t able to agree to terms on a new contract.”
NBC
Sophia Bush, Chicago PD
Season four of the NBC drama ended with Sophia Bush’s character entertaining a job offer in New York with the FBI and it sounds like she’s taking it and leaving the show. The show is called Chicago PD after all…
HBO
T.J. Miller, Silicon Valley
After four seasons on the HBO comedy, T.J. Miller is departing, calling it an “organic ending.” “Also, in a weird way, it’s interesting to me to leave a show at its height. It’s interesting to me to see how the show will grow and change with the exit of this character,” he told EW.
CBS
Erinn Hayes, Kevin Can Wait
After just one season on the CBS comedy, there’s a shakeup afoot. Erinn Hayes, who played wife to Kevin James, will leave as part of a creative shakeup. However, from the sounds of her tweet, it wasn’t a mutual decision. “True, I’ve been let go from the show. Very sad, I had a great experience season 1,” Hayes said on Twitter. “Thank you for all the support from our wonderful fans.”
ABC
Jennifer Morrison, Once Upon a Time
Emma Swan is leaving Storybrooke. Jennifer Morrison announced she will leave the Once Upon a Time should it return for a seventh season. She will appear in one episode of season seven should ABC renew it.
ABC
Connie Britton, Nashville
Y’all heard the rumors about a Connie Britton‘s potential exit from the series once it was revived by CMT, but Britton herself downplayed them…for a time. Britton’s character Rayna died from injuries sustained in a car accident. She took to Instagram to pay tribute to the character and the show after the episode aired. “It has been an honor to be a part of that creation. And as I know she would want it, the show must, and will go on. Long live Rayna Jaymes,” she wrote.
ABC
Stana Katic, Castle
Castle without Beckett? You better believe it. After eight seasons of solving crimes and falling in love, Stana Katic was let go from the long-running series by ABC (along with her co-star Tamala Jones) prior to a potential season nine renewal, leaving Nathan Fillion‘s Castle to handle things on his own, should the series return. Following the surprising announcement, Katic released a statement to E! News, saying, “Rather than distract from what was an amazing experience I would just like to say that I’m very grateful to ABC for giving me the opportunity to be a part of a much beloved show. Thank you to the fans.”
Tina Rowden/FOX
Nicole Beharie, Sleepy Hollow
Yes, it’s for real: Sleepy Hollow star Nicole Beharie confirmed following the show’s season three finale that her character, Abbie Mills, was really dead. As in not supernaturally coming back somehow should the show be renewed for a fourth season.
CBS
Michael Weatherly, NCIS
After 13 years with the show, Michael Weatherly, who was with the series from the start, announced he would be leaving NCIS. “He is a valued part of the CBS family, and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as ‘Very’ Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today—the No. 1 drama in the world,” CBS said in a statement. “We thank Michael for all of his contributions to this successful franchise and look forward to continuing to develop projects with him as part of our ongoing development deal.”
The CW
Nina Dobrev, The Vampire Diaries
TVD‘s fandom was left speechless when its leading lady revealed she would be exiting the show after six seasons…and  that the show was still going on without her. Delena and Stelena fans alike were devastated. “I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime,” Nina Dobrev wrote in an open letter. “I myself made some of the best friends I’ll ever know and built an extended family I will love forever.” BRB, sobbing!
Greg Gayne/NBC/NBCU Photo Bank via Getty Images
Kal Penn, House
What to do when you’re on one of TV’s hottest shows, but get a job at the White House? If you’re Kal Penn on House, your character commits suicide and you go work for President Obama!
NBC
Christopher Meloni, Law & Order: SVU
Law & Order: SVU was about Benson and Stabler for 12 years…until Meloni left the series after tense contract negotiations. Everyone assumed things would work out and the two would continue to bust perps, but life doesn’t always work out and Benson was left Stabler-less. However, the show was reinvigorated and is now in season 17.
CBS
Cote de Pablo, NCIS
Ziva left the building on her own accord. Cote de Pablo has spoken out about leaving the hit CBS series after close to 200 episodes, saying it was a personal decision. “As far as my decision to leave, that’s a personal thing, and I’d rather leave it at that,” she said. “The idea of leaving was not something I toyed around with for a long time. It was an overwhelmingly hard thing—at times terrifying.” Her exit shocked fans, especially those who shipped her character’s relationship with Michael Weatherly‘s character.
HBO
Christopher Abbott, Girls
Marnie (Allison Williams) and Charlie (Christopher Abbott) were finally happy together…but then Abbott left the show between seasons, citing he was unable to relate to the world Lena Dunham crafted.
Paul Drinkwater/NBCU Photo Bank
Kellie Martin, ER
Whenever anybody left ER, the question came up: Why would you leave TV’s hottest show? Well, Kellie Martin, whose character Lucy Knight was a bright up and coming med student, gave several reasons for her exit, including having a personal tragedy mar her time on the series. Lucy was brutally stabbed by a patient, her death forever haunting viewers.

David Caruso, NYPD Blue
Another “Did he really just leave one of TV’s biggest shows?” moments—David Caruso left NYPD Blue after one season due to contract issues. He wanted more money. He didn’t get more money.
ABC
Michael Vartan, Alias
The official reason behind Michael Vartan‘s late exit from the spy drama remains a mystery, but rumors have swirled it was due to his break-up with co-star Jennifer Garner. (He did return for the ultimate series ending, after it was revealed his character faked his own death.) Fans were NOT happy.
Macall B. Polay / HBO
Michael Pitt, Boardwalk Empire
The HBO hit series shocked fans when Jimmy Darmody was offed in the season two finale. While there were rumors about Michael Pitt‘s on-set behavior causing issues, producers maintained that the death was a creative decision.
WB
Shannen Doherty, Charmed and Beverly Hills, 90210
TV’s quintessential bad girl, Shannen Doherty left 90210 after four seasons amidst rumors of bad behavior. She reprised the character of Brenda Walsh for the first time in 2008 on The CW’s 90210. Doherty exited her next big show, Charmed, after three seasons with—surprise—even more rumors of behind-the-scenes drama and feuds. 90210‘s Brenda went to acting school and Charmed‘s Prue was killed off.
Vivian Zink/ABC
Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight, Grey’s Anatomy
Katherine Heigl‘s exit was less than shocking, due to her headline-making comments over not getting enough material to warrant nominations and complaints over lying in a hospital bed for long hours due to her film schedule. T.R. Knight‘s exit was a bit more shocking, highlighting his lack of storyline and character growth in an interview with EW. Shonda Rhimes, of course, has no time for actors not wanting to be an attraction at Shondaland, so Izzy and George both scrubbed out of the ABC hit drama.
PBS
Dan Stevens, Downton Abbey
After so many ups and downs, Dan Stevens‘ Matthew Crawley finally landed the girl and had the baby…and then died. Stevens’ Downton exit riled viewers—where was the happy ending?!—and even pissed off his costar Michelle Dockery, but ultimately it did wonders for the show and Dockery’s Lady Mary.
CBS
Josh Charles, The Good Wife
Josh Charles‘ exit from The Good Wife is hands down one of TV’s best kept secrets. Yes, his death was shocking, but the fact that producers were able to keep it a secret is what really stands out. Star Julianna Margulies convinced Charles to stay with the show for 15 episodes of season five to craft a fitting exit. The powers that be explained they needed to kill him so his character wasn’t out there, always a possibility for Alicia.
MTV
Crystal Reed, Teen Wolf
After three seasons, Crystal Reed went to producers and asked to be written off the show in order to pursue other opportunities. Choosing not to give fans a heads up, the viewers were stunned when Allison died in her first love Scott’s arms in the penultimate episode of season three. “It’s an interesting thing when the actor says, ‘Hey, I want to try something new,'” boss Jeff Davis told us of actors leaving the show (Colton Haynes, Daniel Sharman and Tyler Hoechlin have all exited). “You to have to decide whether you’re going to say, ‘Can we convince you to stay?’ And as a producer, I don’t want anyone to work on the show who feels like they want to move on.”
The CW
Colton Haynes, Arrow
Unbeknownst to fans, Colton Haynes, fresh off his exit from Teen Wolf, only signed a two-year deal to play Roy, an unusual move for the studio. Arrow then shocked fans by faking his character’s death at first, only to reveal it was a cruel joke. Still, it left the door open for him to return (which he has, and will again).
ABC/Kelsey McNeal
Patrick Dempsey, Grey’s Anatomy
Mer lost her Der in an unthinkable twist. Patrick Dempsey was killed off, leaving Ellen Pompeo‘s character to move on without McDreamy. Series creator Shonda Rhimes cited a similar reason to The Good Wife for killing off the character. “The decision to have the character die the way that he did was not a difficult one in the sense of what were the options?” Rhimes said at the 2015 Summer TCA press tour. “Either Derek was going to walk out on Meredith, and leave her high and dry, and what was that going to mean? That was going to suggest that the love was not true, the thing we had said for 11 years was a lie and McDreamy wasn’t McDreamy. For me, that was untenable.”
FOX
Mischa Barton, The OC
The OC without Marissa Cooper?! The thought alone was blasphemous at the time of the Fox show’s heyday…but then it happened. Rumors about whether or not it was MischaBarton‘s decision to leave swirled for years, but Josh Schwartz has come out and said it was a mutual decision made to shake up the series.

New Post has been published on https://bloggingkits.org/is-china-the-sectors-new-colonial-energy/
Is China the sector’s New Colonial Energy?
Each weekday earlier than dawn, a morning migration takes place near the barren region on Africa’s southwestern coast. At five:30 within the Namibian enclave Swakopmund, whose century-old homes nonetheless endure the imprint of German colonization, solitary guys in khaki uniforms emerge from houses and condominium complexes, the white reflective strips on their pants flashing as they stroll quickly through the darkness. They’re no longer African however Chinese. Nobody else is stirring in the Atlantic Coast town as the men converge on a tidy house on Libertina Amathila Road, the most effective one in the community with its lighting ablaze.
Dylan Teng, a boyish 29-year-old engineer with a brush cut and wire-rimmed glasses, is a few of the closing to reaching. Just as he has finished nearly each day due to the fact landing in Namibia three and a half years ago, Teng joins the others in wolfing down a breakfast of steamed buns and rice porridge. He picks up a packed lunch organized by way of an employer chef and at precisely 6 o’clock, with stars nevertheless glimmering overhead, he forums a bus emblazoned with the letters C.G.N. — China Popular Nuclear, a country-owned behemoth that owns the biggest Chinese-language project in all of Africa.
An hour later, as the solar clears the horizon, the bus winds thru a craggy moonscape and descends to the Husab Uranium Mine, a $four.6 billion funding this is the second-biggest uranium mine inside the world. Teng has made this journey almost 1000 instances, however Husab continually looks like a mirage: a virtual town stretching seven miles across the wasteland ground, from two giant open pits being gouged out of the rocky substratum to a processing plant that, on the remaining operating day of 2016, produced its first drums of U₃O₈, the yellowcake that can be used to generate nuclear Power (and also to make guns). “We had a big ceremony that day,” Teng says.
One of the few college graduates from his village in China’s southwestern Sichuan Province, Teng is keenly privy to Husab’s significance. It is not truly a lifeline for Namibia’s suffering financial system, one which the united states of America estimates will growth its gross home product through 5 percentage while the mine reaches complete production next yr. The uranium itself, almost all of with a view to going to China, can even help flip Teng’s native land right into a world leader in nuclear strength and decrease its dependence on coal. In Beijing, wherein he worked before coming here, Teng lived under the gray blanket of coal-generated pollution that hangs over an awful lot of eastern China. Now he’s working for the destiny — his personal and his country’s — below an infinite African sky of cobalt blue. “I in no way imagined,” he says, “I’d grow to be halfway round the sector.”
Preserve analyzing the principle story Advertisement
Continue studying the primary tale China’s gravitational pull can be felt nowadays in Each corner of the globe. Few countries experience the tug extra strongly than Namibia, a wind-swept state with a populace of 2.4 million — slightly a 10th the scale of Beijing’s — some 8,000 miles far from the Chinese language capital. The barren region in which the Husab mine has materialized in recent years was once known best for the presence of Welwitschia mirabilis, the quick, droopy country wide plant that grows Simply two leaves — and can live for extra than 1,000 years. Now, in little more than 1,000 days, China’s reach has unfolded some distance beyond the uranium mine.
Just north of Swakopmund, a Chinese telemetry station sprouts from the wasteland ground, its radar dishes pointing skyward to tune satellites and area missions. Twenty-5 miles south, in Walvis Bay, a state-owned Chinese company is constructing an artificial peninsula the dimensions of forty baseball fields as a part of a sizable port enlargement. Different Chinese initiatives close by encompassing new highways, a shopping mall, a granite manufacturing facility and a $400 million fuel depot. Chinese language exchange flows via the port: delivery containers packed with cement, apparel and equipment coming in; tiles, minerals and — in some cases — illegal timber and endangered wildlife heading out to China. The activity is so frenzied that rumors of a proposed naval base in Walvis Bay, even though vehemently denied by using Chinese language officials, do not strike locals as incredible.
This small outpost offers a glimpse of what can be the most important global change-and-funding spree in records. Pushed through economics (a starvation for resources and new markets) and politics (a craving for strategic allies), Chinese agencies and people have rushed into all components of the world. In 2000, handiest five international locations counted China as their biggest trading companion; nowadays, extra than a hundred nations do, from Australia to America. The drumbeat of proposed initiatives never stops: a army working base, China’s first distant places, in Djibouti; an $8 billion high-speed railway via Nigeria; an almost-fantastical canal across Nicaragua anticipated to cost $50 billion. Whilst China’s growth slows down, its maximum formidable scheme remains ramping up: With the “One Belt, One Avenue” initiative — its name a connection with trade routes — President Xi Jinping has spoken of setting $1.6 trillion over the subsequent decade into infrastructure and improvement at some stage in Asia, Africa and the Center East. The scheme might dwarf America’ put up-world Conflict II Marshall Plan for Europe.
China’s relationship with Africa goes lower back to the Nineteen Sixties, while Chairman Mao Zedong promoted unity with the growing world — “Ya Fei L. A.,” as he known as it, the use of the first syllables for Asia, Africa and Latin America. even though it was negative and mired in the chaos of the Cultural Revolution, China received new allies in Africa through finishing, in 1976, a 1,156-mile railroad through the bush from Tanzania to Zambia. Aid persevered to trickle in, but there were no Different large projects for almost 30 years, as China focused on building up its home economic system, following its chief Deng Xiaoping’s prescription to “hide your energy and bide your time.” That ended within the 2000s, while Beijing, recognizing the need for overseas sources and allies to fuel its economic growth, exhorted the kingdom’s agencies to “go out” into the sector.
nowadays, in case you take the crimson-eye flight from Shanghai to Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, chances are you’ll be seated among Chinese workers heading to a production web page in oil-wealthy Equatorial Guinea, a cotton-processing plant in Mozambique, a telecom assignment in Nigeria. China’s exchange with African international locations has accelerated fortyfold in the past 20 years. The employees and migrants sporting out China’s worldwide imaginative and prescient at the moment are so ubiquitous in Africa — as many as one million of them, according to one estimate — that when my spouse and i wandered right into a Hunanese eating place in Addis, the pink-faced people devouring twice-cooked red meat blurted out: “Ah, laowai like!” “Foreigners have come!” It seemed rude to factor out that they had been foreigners, too.
China’s advances have come because the West appears to be chickening out. U.S. engagement in Asia, Africa and Latin The us declined after the Bloodless War, while the regions served as proxies for superpower rivalries. China’s upward push and the wars within the Center East also pulled away resources and attention. And now, with Washington raising doubts approximately worldwide agreements on problems like unfastened alternate and climate alternate, Beijing has greater leverage to push its personal projects and show its ability for international leadership. President Trump’s disdain for the Trans-Pacific Partnership has already made Beijing’s exchange proposals, which exclude the use, extra attractive. “In sure parts of the world, the relative inattention of the Trump management is without a doubt creating a gap for China to fill,” says David Shambaugh, director of the China Policy Application at George Washington university and author of the 2013 e-book “China is going global.” but “China remains very tons a partial Energy — and simplest gives Other international locations an monetary relationship.”
nonetheless, for a country like Namibia, China’s pitches can be irresistible partially due to the fact they’re rooted in historical solidarity. Beijing subsidized the black nationalist motion’s liberation battle in opposition to apartheid and its white South African overlords. Sam Nujoma, the chief of the South West Africa Humans’s Corporation (Swapo), visited Beijing looking for weapons and funds within the early Nineteen Sixties. while Namibia, in the end, claimed independence in early 1990, with Nujoma as president, China became one among its first diplomatic allies, saying the 2 countries “all-weather buddies.” (Beijing becomes also determined for allies to break its diplomatic isolation after its violent crackdown on the 1989 democracy movement.)

The terrible trifecta: What the Trump administration means for tech, and how to stop it
President Trump. (Flickr / Gage Skidmore)
An economic crisis looms in Washington State as a result of three actions by the new President and his team.
First, they have unilaterally withdrawn the U.S. from the Trans-Pacific Partnership without replacing it with a better deal. Next, the Administration has issued an executive order temporarily banning every person from seven countries — cutting off legal immigrant engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs who are already well integrated here. And most recently, the President’s legal team has floated a draft executive order curtailing an entire set of work visas — cutting off the talented and industrious workforce we need in our State’s economy.
We are hopeful that the White House is still collecting input on this last draft to ensure a precise articulation and an effective implementation.
There are legitimate concerns buried in the emotionally charged arguments for each of the three actions, but these policies are like hurling a chainsaw in a place where a deftly applied scalpel is needed. This particular combination is dangerous for our State.
Although most days I speak for the tech industry, the Terrible Trifecta is not a tech issue. It is not a Republican or Democratic Party issue. This watershed moment affects every citizen of our State.
Today, I’d like to address three myths related to these Executive Branch actions and then I am going to recommend how you can help.
Myth 1: The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) would have eliminated US jobs and allowed other countries with lower labor standards to compete unfairly against us. Michael Schutzler
In fact, the TPP would have saved and created jobs for Washington. It is true that multi-lateral trade agreements have caused job contraction. This is a fair criticism. The federal Department of Labor and the Washington Department of Labor & Industries must be adequately funded to provide the training and education for anyone whose loses a job as a result of a trade driven economic transition.
That said, Washington state annually ships more than $20 billion of food including beef, apples, and potatoes; $100 billion of airplanes; and $16 billion of high tech products and services mostly to Asian markets. The TPP was designed to reduce China’s influence in the region and level the playing field for American companies so that we could compete effectively. TPP required participating countries to move toward the higher levels of American labor standards and eliminated existing tariffs.
By unilaterally withdrawing from TPP, we alienated the 11 other countries that invested years negotiating and compromising to meet our demands. We also, at least for now, concede the field of negotiation to China – by far our biggest competitor in the region. Was TPP perfect?
Of course not, but it was vast improvement over the status quo. Killing TPP means reneging on agreements that have serious consequences for Washington’s export dependent economy. This action puts tens of thousands of jobs at risk and threatens a tax base essential for our state education and infrastructure investments.
Myth 2: The executive order temporarily banning legal immigrants and refugees from Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Iran, Somalia, Libya, and Yemen will keep terrorists out.
In fact, this list doesn’t include a single nation that has caused a terrorist fatality in the U.S., which means the vetting process in place was already working. Most people would agree that refining and improving the efficacy of our refugee and immigration vetting process is a good idea. However, we can’t afford a one-size-fits-all immigration policy.
We need careful review of individual cases.
Washington state is served daily by thousands of talented scientists, inventors, engineers, and entrepreneurs from these seven nations. Whether by design or not, choosing these seven Muslim-majority countries serves as a signal to the world that America is closed for business and chooses its partners based on a religious litmus test. It also creates a grave concern among other nations that perhaps this is just the first in a series of travel bans. I’ve heard from international media outlets and local immigrants from other countries not on this list – the fear is palpable.
This is bad for America. And it’s especially bad for Washington.
Fear breeds economic constraint. The Life Sciences and Tech Industry drive our State’s economic growth and both require hope and optimism to succeed. Cutting off these seven nations is bad enough given the large number of people working here. Creating uncertainty and fear among other immigrants drives down investment, cuts productivity, and urges perfectly wonderful, talented people to seek refuge in Canada.
We already face tough competition for human and financial capital with Vancouver B.C. — this action makes it that much harder for us to compete. We must allow our legal residents to come and go so they can continue to work, build economic value, cure diseases, and create more jobs for Washingtonians.
Myth 3: Restricting visas including L-1, H-1B, and H-2A visas will force American employers to hire local talent.
First and foremost, these visas are not designed to displace American workers. The H-1B visa, for example, represents less than four percent of our tech workforce in Washington. They are among the best and brightest in the world and each of them help to create another seven jobs in the state economy.
The draft executive order restricting these three work visas, combined with another Presidential directive shutting off the entrepreneur visa work-around, (aka Entrepreneur Parole) limits our ability to develop new technologies, restricts our ability to train our future entrepreneurs and wreaks havoc on our ability to export apples, potatoes and beef to feed the world. Having said that, it’s a smart move to adjust the H-1B visa to focus on highly skilled tech workers and eliminate misuse by some outsourcing firms. The tech industry supports that change.
However, closing our borders to entrepreneurs who create jobs for Americans is a self-inflicted mortal wound. Nearly 75 percent of VC backed tech startups have been launched by immigrants. Almost every major technological advancement has been achieved thanks to immigrant experts on the team. The vast majority of our agricultural production and export business is built with the help of the H-2A. If we send our immigrant workforce away, then new jobs and inventions will not be created in Washington – they will be created by competing countries.
These matters are personal for me.
My dad was a refugee twice over. He was born in Lithuania and escaped with his mom, sister and brother from the advancing Russian front in 1944 as an eight-year-old boy. They dodged the war hiking at night for 1000 miles until they reached a reasonably safe place in eastern Germany. Then as a young man, he smuggled Russian military secrets from East to West Berlin to use as a bargaining chip to secure his asylum. But West Germans feared and despised their cousins from the east, so he located a U.S. company that sponsored him on a work permit and he immigrated with my mom to Chicago to start over once more. He worked three jobs, eventually became an American citizen, and then went on to co-found MapQuest.
Immigrants, like my dad, helped build this country. For those willing to work hard and take risks, America is the land of opportunity as much now as it has ever been. Those of us with the privilege of being born here owe it to our families and neighbors to embrace anyone who would help us build a better future.
What can you do? Write your Congressional Representatives and Senators.
The President likes Twitter — so join us in tweeting questions and challenges. If you support the bold legal moves by Governor Inslee and Attorney General Ferguson, then email, call or tweet your support. In any case, regardless of your political point of view, please help make the argument for Washington jobs, our economy and our future.
Please do not remain silent. This Terrible Trifecta challenges our resolve, but the mission to build a better future is worth the effort today.
