I read so many great ideas and new stories for existing media and franchises on here and sometimes I am sure that some executive in some major studio will read it and steal it. I already believe it has started to some extent because now almost every director and actor knows of fanfiction to some extent and actually refers to it for inspiration and it pisses me off so fucking much because how hard would it be for them to just let that blogger know that they've inspired them to do something in the show just the way they imagined it in their fanfic or au or art? And before some of you begin to explain how it would probably turn into something impossible to work out financially and may even cause legal problems of some kind that would make such an arrangement impossible, you may be right. But that still wouldn't make it okay for these "creatives" to simply browse the internet and steal ideas. If they want to use some existing art, the majority of the people on here would simply be glad to be given that kind of recognition that could dramatically change their lives.
