8. How slow is a slow burn?
To me, anything longer than like 25k is a slow burn. But at the same time, I think pretty much anything could be, if written that way..

22. What is it about watching the same two idiots falling in love over and over again?
So for me, it's a lot of things. One very minor bonus is that each fic I read and write feels like a little rebellion against JKR. I read it knowing 1. it's better written than anything she did and 2. She would HATE it.
But more than that, really, is that it gives me comfort that love can be found, be made, and be created in a million different scenarios and universes. Harry and Draco can find each other and fall in love, no matter how much the fic diverges from canon. They can get together post-Epilogue, 8th year, Hogwarts years, or in a completely alternate universe. They can be mermaids or Veelas or werewolves or pirates or royalty or literally anything we want them to be.
The common thread through it all is that it's them. It's Harry and Draco, falling in love every time. Their connection, their tension, and their chemistry are literally transcendent. It's green and gray eyes,
neat white-blond and messy black hair. It's "Scared Potter?" "You wish." It's "I can't be sure" and "rapidly becoming obsessed with Draco Malfoy." And shaking hands and apologies and comparing scars and shared trauma. It's forgiveness, of each other and themselves. It will never, ever get old.
It's both romantic and hopeful. And there's something about enemies to lovers that's always compelling because it's when people see and are the victims of each other at their WORST, and yet love one another.
29. What’s the hardest thing about writing?
So, ironically, we're literally having this conversation in the microfic server rn, but the hardest part for me is that my ideas are too big for my motivation/energy. My creativity is writing checks that my writing stamina can't cash 😂. It's funny—I can, and have, written like 2 or 3 microfics in a day. But it would be pulling teeth to get me to write the same word count for a single story.
Like right now, I'm working on a fic for an anon fest (well, I'm actually also working on fics for more than one anon fest but I'm talking about one in particular). And 1. I'm daunted because it's a trope I've never really done before and 2. I'm putting WAY too much pressure on myself for it to be my magnum fucking opus. I want it to be perfect. I don't want to have regrets like I do for a handful of my other fics; I don't want to look back at this one and cringe. Of everything I've written, I want to get this one right, because the prompt is really important to me.
In another answer for this game yesterday, I gave the writing advice yesterday to "write what you know." Well, I feel like I put everything I know into this is me trying. I know that's not true, and I'm trying to take my own advice and just write other things I know. I have the overall timeline worked out, and a couple little plot things, but filling the rest in is a challenge.
I'm going to pace myself. I'm going to get it done. But I want to do this one right, and not rush it at the end. I want to tell the story that Drarry deserves, that the prompt deserves, that I'm proud of and that people enjoy.
