AU where A-Qing is in the GusuLan Sect

In which she was adopted into it by some senior disciples, perhaps.

Putting it under a read more since it’s pretty long!

Everyone thinks she's an upstanding member of the sect

No one expects her to break the rules ever

But she is just an expert at not getting caught

Everyone outside the sect thinks she is so polite and elegant

But the people who know her well also know how to tell when she is in a foul mood

She doesn't SAY anything out of place, but she has ways of making sure you KNOW she is pissed at you

She'll address you politely, but the way she smiles somehow radiates absolute malice

Piss her off and she'll see that you get in trouble somehow

She knows all the rules by memory, and you're gravely mistaken if you think she wouldn't call you out for a seemingly minor error

You WILL be punished if you get on her bad side, and it's always due to you breaking one of the 4000 rules you didn't even know about

She especially tends to do this to ignorant juniors from other sects who make the mistake of making a bad first impression on her

Co-ed activities are strictly banned, but even the young men of the sect are aware of her reputation

A-Qing is competitive and most definitely not a good loser

She refuses to let another junior outdo her

Sometimes during night hunts, she'll go off on her own to take down more advanced targets

She isn't supposed to do that, so she makes like it's a coincidence that she always runs into said targets

The senior disciples try to scold her, but it's difficult to do so when she is always successful

She doesn't really care for the bland food the sect is known for, and once in a while, she'll sneak out for sweets

She memorized the patrol patterns and moves around them

Other juniors never catch her doing this, but get suspicious because sometimes they can smell the sugar on her breath

They don't know HOW she never gets caught, and they're not sure whether they find that frustrating or admirable

She likes the rigid sleeping schedule as it always guarantees that she'll wake up well-rested

She will get very irritated if someone makes noise and wakes her up early or keeps her awake, as she is a light sleeper

Once she becomes known as a respected senior disciple, no one can stop her from going out on her own

She'll bump into Hanguang-jun when they both investigate the same suspicious activities

She meets the male junior disciples since they sometimes accompany Hanguang-jun

Like Hanguang-jun, she sometimes has junior disciples following her around

This leads to accidental co-ed expeditions

The juniors can't believe Hanguang-jun is allowing them to socialize with opposite-gender cultivators of the sect, considering how strict GusuLan Sect is about keeping men and women separate

But then they remember that he is married to Wei Wuxian, rules be damned

At first, they feel a little weird about the co-ed expeditions

But when they see Hanguang-jun and A-Qing casually conversating, they lose those feelings of apprehension

She catches the junior disciples drinking together one day, and they all freeze in terror when she stares at them

She simply swipes a jar off the table for herself and walks away

Once she's out of sight, she keels over in a fit of laughter because the looks on their faces were PRICELESS

Since he is always with Hanguang-jun, A-Qing also meets Wei Wuxian

He is absolutely delighted to discover someone from the GusuLan Sect who can hold her liquor as well as he can

When both Lan Zhan and the juniors are busy, he'll seek her out and invite her to drink

They swap stories about their hilarious junior disciples and complain about how STUFFY the Lan Sect can be

They bond over their experiences of living on the streets before they were adopted into prominent sects

She tells him she survived on the streets by pretending to be blind, and he just loses it

"You picked pockets like that."

"Yep."

"You didn't get caught."

"Only by the senior Lan disciples."

"And you were 10."

"About."

"AMAZING."

Then he learns that she plays the dízi like him

They swap scores and duet with each other sometimes

He offers to teach her to manipulate corpses, and she hesitates ever-so-slightly before politely declining

She doesn't want to give her senior disciples aneurysms, and she's afraid Lan Qiren might actually snap if she accepted

Not to mention, Wei Wuxian already took the fall for those co-ed expeditions (not that he even minds)

Senior disciples think that he is a bad influence on her, but really? She just likes to do what she wants

As expected of a GusuLan Sect disciple, she has above-average arm strength

Wei Wuxian enjoys watching her obliterate other unsuspecting cultivators in arm wrestling

One day she suplexes some guy who thought he could get away with robbing a bar

And Wei Wuxian concludes that he would KILL for her

He really would.
