I am not going to defend myself, Your Majesty. Whatever I say, your decision will not change anyway. I could calm you by denying it, but I don't intend to do it. Throw me into the fire like you did with your family and other people you loved. [...] So this is [absolute loyalty] why you killed them all? Hatice, Ibrahim, Mustafa, Çihangir...I remember how our father Selim Han died. He didn't die easily. God did not let him leave this world without suffering first. The same fate awaits you!
Fatma + roasting Suleiman to his face (and to others)
Happy (belated) Birthday Plami! @mc-critical

Yesterday I went on An Adventure to that there London to go to the RevPro High Stakes show. Part of my new year plans was to get out and see more live wrestling, and this was part of that.
Despite the best efforts of the travel gods, I did make it to the venue before things started. Could have done without all the stress tho. I had an incredible seat, right by the entrance, and was so pleased I took my Loops with me.
Slight amusement when I realised that wearing my hat with my leather coat makes me look like I'm cosplaying the Undertaker. Something to be mindful of in wrestling crowds.
Best bits - having a surprise Orange Cassidy was incredible! 2000 people lost their shit when Jane started. The chant of "Fuck the Tories" when the ZSJ match started. Mustafa Ali v Robbie X was incredible. Ali's hair is fabulous *swoons*. JJ Gale was a lovely new to me discovery. ZSJ getting carried out bridal style. Seeing a family of foxes playing in the park on the way back to the station.
Downsides were having to leave early to get back to Euston so I missed the main event, the diabolical seats which are instruments of torture (it's a leg room thing), being hot all day, and the *very* enthusiastic dude sat next to me.
Would I do it again? Yes, I think I would.

Oo what's the drama with Colin Falconer
I only ever read one book of his, but God was that more than enough. It was about Hürrem sultan... Well, mostly, there's this subplot about this chick named Giulia and guy named Abbas, anyway hon if you ever had trouble with low blood pressure, 10/10 would recommend, otherwise it's not a book for you, in fact I cannot imagine a book less for you if I made it up Goncharov-style. It's basically like Magnificent Century, if it was very much written by a western author and A BILLION TIMES WORSE
Have you ever thought Magnificent Century was a little unfair to Hürrem? In Harem, she's the most evil harlot to have ever been spat onto the face of the Earth by the hell itself. Seriously. Think of any redeeming quality she could have, quick. This Hürrem very pointedly and explicitly does not have it. Her love for Süleyman? Hah! She's been pretending this whole time to make Süleyman her slave! Love for her children? Nope nopity nope! This Hürrem actually lies to Süleyman at her deathbed that Bayezit may not be his son, just so he would kill him, because she wants Selim to take over. Not because she prefers Selim, but because she knows he would be a terrible sultan and destroy the empire she hates so much. Oh, so she's a broken, traumatized kidnapping victim lashing out against her oppressors? Well, I guess, but Falconer downplays this aspect of her character as much as possible, basically only mentioning her feeling "trapped" at the start of the book, just making her seem angry and not at all like she's, you know. Traumatized. So she at least has some empathy towards her fellow slaves? Or anyone else in the entire world??? No! This Hürrem is an absolute evil incarnate, like she does not do a single good thing for anyone else ever, even by accident.
Have you ever thought Magnificent Century didn't quite do the justice to Süleyman the Magnificent? In Harem, he's but a pawn in the hands of eeevil Hürrem, who catches every bait, is fooled by every trick and unwittingly helps her fulfill every evil plan of hers. To Falconer's miniscule credit, he does make an effort to kinda, sorta make reader see what Süleyman sees in Hürrem, and at times he's almost an interesting character, but one of the greatest statesmen of the Ottoman history he is not.
Have you ever thought Magnificent Century can be a little bleak? Well, In Harem, Colin Falconer has made it his life's mission to prove that he's the edgiest little edgelord, to only be beaten by Tara Gillespie. This book is an excellent example of wannabe gritty realism that ends up saying nothing about real world and not feeling real for a fucking second. Like, just focusing on the harem itself, the life there is presented as miserable, which, fine, we are trying to sympathize with these women... I would say if I didn't have a sneaking suspicion that Falconer lowkey hates, or at least does not particullarly care for the other gender. So what you end up with is an endless parade of suffering women that the narrative doesn't give any dignity, agency or empathy. The only exception is Giulia, whose life of repression and meagre attempts at reclaiming agency would be kinda interesting, if they went literally anywhere, but they don't, because Falconer kinda hates women, but readers even moreso. And don't get me started on the sexualization, because if Minette says you enjoy describing the titties too much you, you definitely enjoy describing the titties too much. Which together with the endless abuse of women just makes this book feel all the more gross.
Have you ever thought Magnificent Century has a problem with not being critical enough of the empire? Well, Harem tries that, but then Hürrem is presented as irredeemably evil for trying to ruin the empire and tricking Süleyman into fighting less, which she does not do out of political consideration, even though her arguments make sense and it's probably what IRL Süleyman realized on his own, also saint Mustafa is still there and still as much of a brave soldier destroyed by the evil Hürrem as ever... Basically any effort at critique is demolished as thoroughly as possible by the sheer force of author's hatred for Hürrem.
Have you ever thought Magnificent Century has unfortunately left out or underserved some interesting female personalities of the era, like Süleyman's granddaughters or the female buddies of Selim II.? In Harem, Ayşe Hafsa is... Well, there for a portion of the book, basically twiddling her thumbs, which is nice, because at least they can't ruin her. Mahidevran is yet another female victim without agency, just a bit more prominent than the others. Mihrimah is there for one scene, just to establish she hates her husband, have her exposited on by Rüstem and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE. Yeah. Like, fuck, this book almost makes me want to appologize to the Magnificent Century Mihrimah, she's a pretty unlikeable character, but at least she is a character. And Nurbanu? Nurbanu who? We don't know 'dem, and we certainly don't have 'dem over here!
Have you ever thought Magnificent Century was unfair to Selim II.? In Harem, he's a monstrous child rapist in addition to a drunken glutton. Also, no Nurbanu, because fuck you, reader, at this point of the book you really shouldn't have expected anything.
Have you ever thought Magnificent Century plays fast and loose with history? Harem can't even get the order of Hürrem's children right. Seriously. For example, Selim is the firstborn in this. Because why pass an opportunity to be pointlessly stupid?
Have you ever thought Magnificent Century is a bit lacking when it comes to medical knowledge? In Harem, an important plot point, by which I mean Selim's conception, hinges on a castrated man conceiving two children with two different women. Like a character in the book explicitly notes that unlike harem eunuchs, guards don't have the entire package chopped off, only balls WELL WHERE DO YOU THINK GAMETES COME FROM, AND YES THEY CAN SOMETIMES STILL HAVE SEX, EVER HEARD OF SHOOTING BLANKS YOU FUCKING GENIUS???
And just in case the things weren't bad enough, there's one final fuck you on the road with the epilogue, which mightily strives to be the stupidest fucking thing I've ever read - for me, a veteran of braindead straight women-oriented porn. Because no BDSM loving billionaire with a sixpack and big schlong can ever top this.
Basically, Falconer is trying to make his wildly historically inaccurate book seem like it's remotely plausible, which, cute, not the first time I've seen a historical novel do that. But at least they weren't trying to justify a man without testicles siring a child... And they didn't do it by claiming that every sultan before Süleyman was this mighty steppe warrior and statesman (after he portrayed Süleyman himself as a dupe completely ensnared by one woman's wicked wiles, again, adorable) and every sultan after him was this lazy, decadent tyrant, often also crazy (because sure, Mahmut II. isn't even in this book, but why the fuck not insult also him for good measure?!), so his argument is that "the line must've been broken". Because the great Süleyman the Magnificent (who again I cannot stress enough how not Magnificent he is in this book) couldn't have possibly sired a failson, his mighty sperm isn't capable of such a feat, it must've been someone else, like A FUCKING EUNUCH.
Now if you excuse me, I've gotten the long-requested review of this heinous book out of my system, please let me either drink myself to death, or detox by watching Good Omens, whichever comes more easily. Thank you and good night.

funny how i managed to get your opinion on of the endings of media you're not familiar with by just being vague and just making the topic about shenanigans of time-travel
but that's not why we're here for so...
Future Nagant x Future Inko x Future Star x Inko/Cathleen/Kaina: with future star existing, it allows me to make a three way spiderman pointing at spiderman meme. lmao
Eri’s Precepts x Equivalent Exchange: it appears that Eri found a replacement for overBITCH (*cough* sorry, i just dislike hate overhaul with a passion *cough*), and he's nicer than the last person with his quirk.
Midoriya Yo x Midoriya Shoto x Midoriya Tenko x Eri Escapes: Izuku now has a larger family, they all agree on one thing, Eri is the cutest little ball of sunshine the had ever seen. one down side would be the costs to maintain, so all of the siblings collectively agree, that to keep Eri's smile, is to do part-time jobs to make sure they float and ease inko's burden on money.
Musketeer x Dragonic Hero: not only that izuku has to deal with having a dragon mutation quirk, but also has to deal with having AfO the quirk, I wonder how is he holding up...
HPSC President: "Look Ma, I managed to clean the HPSC of all of it's corruption, the worst part is that i did it accidently."
Pokemon Legends Mustafa x Time God Uraraka: inb4 she overwrites Dialga's spot and Temporal Tower ends collapsing making her into a primal feral being, a shell of her former self.
UA University: I asked for a rough timeline for after the Student Exhibition Expo, and ended up with nothing as i made the mistake of bringing up the other two movies, so i'll ask again.
wait what, the ask game is coming soon? well shit, imma need to accumulate AU ideas...
Future Nagant x Future Inko x Future Star x Inko/Cathleen/Kaina: The three of them going back in time and falling in love is really cute, also imagine how Star and Nagant would react to now being Izuku's moms in the new timeline
Eri’s Precepts x Equivalent Exchange: She does still have the original Chisaki, he's just a bit young now and way less cruel.
Midoriya Yo x Midoriya Shoto x Midoriya Tenko x Eri Escapes: It's unclear what the Midoriya financial situation is but the kids doing their best to earn money for Eri is very cute
Musketeer x Dragonic Hero: I'm sure his hoarding instincts will be fine...
HPSC President: Wrong he did it very intentionally, it's just not the reason he joined in the first place
Pokemon Legends Mustafa x Time God Uraraka: She has no reason to do that?
UA University: I'm not totally sure. They'd do internships sometime not long after the Expo, their finals would be at the end of each term like normal. Because it's a university, the first years could go for their Provisional Licenses even without an outside situation

same anon as the not exaggerated joke but not joke about robbing plegia. God I love awakening, I really love chrom and robin and all that. But I am also facinated by Gangrel and Validar (and to a lesser extent Henry and Tharja (and also Mustafa and to an even lesser extent the various plegian officers you fight) Like there could have easily been an interesting exploration of any of those characters. Gangrel's a much less subtle example of how an ATTEMPTED GENOCIDE affected him. He went mad and is lashing out at those who both caused and did not take accountability. Like there's a lot there to unpack and look at, especially when you consider his general dismissal of the grimleal cult. Validar is one I really wish we saw more of (Validad wishful thinking in my brain). He was likely a part of the grimleal since before the war, being a failed vessel; how did he view the genocide, was he moved by what happened to other plegians, did that give him conviction, did he care at all? Did he see grima, or his own child as a means of retribution or even as a saviour for his people. There is so much that could have been done there. Also maybe Tharja and Henry should have more to say about their country being brutalised in 3 whole wars. Also also, please just acknowledge Mustafa he was so fucking cool and deserved a larger role in the story, I'd love them as a continuous antagonist/anti-hero who RIGHTLY points out the hypocricy of the ylisseans while still showing himself to be an empathetic and just leader. Fuck it make him in charge, put him on a council with Validar. Can you imagine the political debates between those two?
Anyway I'm gonna start reading Affectionately Yours to stimulate the part of my brain that awakening didn't
Look, I am deeply and utterly fascinated by Plegia. I have been for a long time. Roughly half my Awakening works on AO3 hinge on some extensive Plegian worldbuilding because Awakening really didn't bother with it and I'm too fascinated to leave it alone.
I have a lot of thoughts about Gangrel. I have a lot of thoughts about Validar. I have a lot of thoughts about who they could have been in different situations, and why they turned out the way they did. I honestly think that Gangrel could have been handled better in Awakening canon: I think his mother was killed by bandits when he was young according to canon? But imagine how much more potent his role in the story becomes if he lost his mother in the attempted genocide -- he was a direct victim, and that unaddressed trauma festered and turned him into the Mad King. (I have a whole post of backstory headcanons about that.) And I think that Validar is underexplored as a character, especially considering that he outright admits he's a failed attempt at creating a vessel for Grima, and what something like that would do to a person. (I have yet another post of backstory headcanons for him.)
Henry...Henry not really having something to say doesn't surprise me. Henry was a victim of basically every system he'd ever been part of. He doesn't have a stake in society, but he's culturally Plegian because it's how he was generally brought up. Tharja, though -- she I think should have things to say about the situation, because even if she does adopt a measure of disinterest in the general situation, that's her home. She's lived through these nightmares and been a witness to their aftermath. The fact that her being Plegian and how that's affected her was entirely squandered is an absolute crime.
and don't get me started on Mustafa. I love Mustafa so much. Mustafa gets a role in basically all my fics, I love him so much. He's in Affectionately Yours. He's in Cursed Fate. He's in both Crown of Shadows and Shrouded Throne. He's in my works in progress, he's in my backburner stories, he's everywhere. I absolutely adore General Mustafa and what he says about Plegia as a country, even though the game tries to pretend that people like him don't exist as soon as we finish out Chapter 11.
I have a lot of Plegia thoughts okay. And a lot of Plegia stories.
also please let me know if you have any issues getting into the fics, I locked them as a precaution against AI data scraping but I am 100% willing to unlock them if you want to read but don't have an account

Name meanings tag
@talesofsorrowandofruin and @dotr-rose-love both tagged me to share the meanings of the characters' names from my WIP. I don't name characters based on meaning, so it's always a trip to look these up afterwards and find out what I did by accident.
Right, time to make Google think I've given up the childfree life by searching for name meanings (not guaranteeing the cultural accuracy of any of these btw).
These are from Project Aria...
Tumblr media
ARIA
Lioness, air, noble, honourable, or melody, depending on who you ask and what language you speak. What an absolutely dreadful name for a career criminal. Well done, brain.
VIANDE
Literally just French for meat. It's a chosen name that the character took as an act of empowerment after escaping a situation where she was brutally and repeatedly devalued as a person. I don't know what her given name was. She hasn't told me.
FREYJA
Noble lady, or an expression for lady-in-an-important-way. Did I get this from the Norse goddess who is beautiful but also extremely tough and not to be fucked with? Maybe?
MUSTAFA
Chosen, selected, appointed, preferred. I guess this sort of fits a crime boss who is also very Decent Human Being and does his crime in a fuck the system way.
RAFE
Counsel of the wolf. Ooooh, OK, that's cool. His full name is Rafael, meaning god has healed, which is somewhat less relevant. I don't think god had anything to do with this guy's life.
GILLEN
Anglicized version of Irish name Gillean, meaning servant of Saint John. I'm Irish, so there's that, but I'm not Christian. I am low-key obsessed with Christian mythology though and Saint John is fascinating in the extreme. Nothing to do with this character, but hey.
Tumblr media
Tagging @eurydicefades, @eyes-talks-ocs, @faelanvance and @felixwriting, if you'd like to share the meanings of your characters' names 💜

It’s still so frustrating to me the lack of sympathy that the show has for Hürrem at the end of season 3 and the beginning of season 4.
The Rüstem/Mihrimah marriage is framed in order to make her look almost as bad as possible. Giving her daughter to a creep.
Hatice’s suicide is essentially blamed on her for her role in Ibrahim’s death. Bearing in mind the way in which the show rewrote history about Ibrahim in order to make him look better and her look worse. And her being kidnapped is meant to be justified in these circumstances.
The way Mehmet’s death is treated also fits into this. With the sin mirror and her guilt, it’s Mahidevran’s cross to bear. But the show places the actual blame far more on Hürrem. Mustafa being send to Amasya is treated as a horrific tragedy in a way that frames Mehmet’s death as not only understandable (which to be fair it is) but as a proportionate and completely justified response. We see Mahidevran and Hatice’s horrified and upset reactions to Mustafa being sent to Amasya. And we see how sad Mustafa is when he is there. But we never see Hürrem’s reaction to his death, or her mourning for him. Not to mention Mustafa’s (tellingly out of character for a man who loved his brother) line that God punished Hürrem for sending him to Amasya with Mehmet’s death. Which just goes to show that the writers saw Mehmet as completely disposible in a way in which Mustafa was not. Instead we’re meant to side fully and uncritically with Mustafa and condemn Hürrem as delusional, tyrannical and vindictive. Especially since we mainly see her react with anger, and with her organising the attack that leads to Mustafa’s favourite and unborn child dying. Because Yılmaz Şahin wants the audience’s sympathy to only go one way.
Then there’s the writers’ insistence that everything would have been fine if Mustafa had come to power because he could have just ended the fratricide law...somehow. Just ignoring the fact that politics is far more complicated than that. And that practically speaking it would have been extremely unlikely that he could have succeeded at doing so. It just came off to me that this was the writers’ attempt to justify seeing Hürrem’s children as expendable.
The Nazenin arc felt like it was just there to show how much of a tyrant Hürrem was now and her cruelty and pettiness towards any other competition for Süleyman’s affections. While also making her suffer to ‘take her down a peg’ and ‘put her in her place’.
Her sending Selim to Manisa is supposed to both be sinister and show her as a bad parent. It’s evidence of how much of a victim Mustafa is. While moments like her reminding Süleyman that he has other sons are played as sinister. I mean how dare she advocate for her own children in this life or death struggle, am I right? And it’s also framed as her unintentionally fanning the flames of the Bayezid vs Selim rivalry and being too focused on Mustafa. In spite of the fact that in the wake of Mehmet’s death, her reasoning makes sense.

[Book Review] Hearts That Remember
Score: 4.65/5.00
*** 20:4
تَنزِيلًۭا مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ ٱلْعُلَى ٤
˹It is˺ a revelation from the One Who created the earth and the high heavens—
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran
Tumblr media
The content is well-divided into a few parts: Introduction - The Journey of Our Hearts, Part 1 - The Internal Battles of Our Hearts, Part 2 - Safeguarding Peace During Life’s Battles, and Conclusion, which the author discusses embracing imperfections and compassion to ourselves, and finally, bring attention again to us the important, the sweetness of remembering Allah swt in all our affairs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For quite some time now, I’ve been looking for books on Asmaul Husna that are neither too deep/technically nor too light/brief a.k.a, summary-ish. And, SubhanAllah, indeed if we keep seeking, He will show us the way.
Long story short, in my early 20s, I attended a “majlis tahlil”, and one of the “souvenirs” I received was a small booklet that contained selected asmaul husna, their meanings, their uses, which day and how many times they are recommended for our daily zikr. This most likely was a cultural thing and not entirely sunnah. The content interested me so well, that I started to leisurely read more on the 99 Names of Allah, and fell in love with making it a habit to do supplications by calling Ya Rabb with His specific names.
A few months back I “met” this book, I was mind-blown. Wallahi, I was so touched by this “revelation”. I think the author and her team, did a brilliant job! It’s amazing that she’s incorporating Asmaul Husna in her prose & poetry, Allahumma Bariki!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The author, sister Sa’diyya has her own “difficulties” that she deals with on a daily basis, and her remembrance of Allah SWT, keeps her moving forward. Throughout the book, she shares her life experiences and serves them as examples right before she complements them with beautiful, heartfelt, consoling, encouraging poetries; highlighting the grandeur, and the “functions” of Beautiful Names.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The book taught us to rely only on Allah, yet always appreciate and show gratitude to the good people surrounding us. The book also taught us it is human to feel down and helpless, but embrace yourself, care for yourself better, look for Allah’s signs internally and externally, and try your best to have faith. Find strength in the remembrance of Allah. I pray that this book may heal more troubled souls as much as it inspires deeper enlightenment in our fellow readers.
Tumblr media
To provide some perspective about the poems, they are simple yet heartfelt, just like “Love&Misadventures by Lang Leav. The messages are as impactful as many pieces in “ The Thoughts of Nanushka by Nan Witcomb”.
The only downside of this book is probably just a matter of preference. To me, some parts of the life narrations can be a little bit draggy and not interesting enough. Otherwise, it is an almost perfect book(for an Islamic contemporary book)!
Tumblr media
Highly recommended! <3 <3 <3 20:8
ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ لَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ٨
Allah—there is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. He has the Most Beautiful Names.
— Dr. Mustafa Khattab, The Clear Quran ***

air forces.
when the smoke rises was a piece of work released by mustafa the poet in 2021. it was a collection of poems, love, loss and religion.
i had listened to ‘air forces’ and had searched up the lyrics to it.
And all these intersections
Where we’ve been kept and left in
I wonder why God keeps us alive?
To what are we even destined?
Will we have wives and children
Or is that not written for you and I?
for me this was a beautiful way of describing what most of us feel about this life and the world. we often spend years and years planning how our life will go and what we’ll do. we tend to forget that everything was written thousands and thousands and thousands of years ago, yet we have so many questions. every little detail was written and put in place to change our lives, whether it’s good or bad. we carry so many questions with us constantly.
a common theme in this album was the loss of a friend and grief about the ones he lost and the trajectory of this life, in this song he’s talking about his friends and peers back home leaving and never returning home. experiences that we have all experienced universally in some way shape or form. the questions that he asks if things were different and if they were still here. often when things happen to us we tend to jump to the question ‘why me?’ we think in times of hardship that god is abandoning us asking questions like why would god put me through all this? and why was this a part of my life? it’s almost as if when something good happens to us we give credit and agree that it’s all a part of the plan but when the complete opposite happens and we drive ourselves insane about it. we are human, we were designed to be this way. i was having a conversation about this with a close friend and we both agreed on the fact that life tends to get repetitive and we share the experience of people telling us that we have to do ‘xyz’ in order to get to a certain point in life. It’s almost like we need absolute control in order for us to live the life we live but the truth is that we don’t have control. things happen and we move on. it’s an element of surprise. we always think about what our future holds. questions like “who will we marry” and “are we happy” keeps us excited about the future not because of the fact that we are getting older but with the sole reason being whatever god has planned is in our best interest.
eventually we find peace with the fact that no matter how many ‘intersections’ you cross, it’ll always take you to the right destination for you. we find peace that we actually aren’t in control and we have faith that whatever happens was meant to happen and there is nothing we can do apart from tie up our laces with a smile. knowing that it’s about to get better. we weren’t set to fail, no matter how hard you try to believe it

9 and 18 for 'I Choose Violence'.
9) Oof, that's a hard one. I hate a lot of the things that happen in the show, just like I love a lot of the things that happen in the show, go figure... But I mean Nigar coming back to become insane and die was probably the ultimate "the medallion is stupid so we're not gonna do that" moment. Like I just straight up reject the reality where she died and substitute my own.
There were many useless subplot that I would just straight up cut, like the Ayşe vs Rumeysa drama, and also that thing in season 1 of Kösem with Katerina hatun, everything about the love lives of Osman and his brother Mehmet.
And I know Firuze rehabilitation is trendy right now, but sorry, I am still a hater.
Also, Murat and Farya just straight up, like it's incredible, this show managed to create a prominent canon ship with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Even Hürrem and Süleyman had some cute moments, even if they didn't make up for the rest of their relationship.
18) Again, lots of stuff! Fatma sultan (Süleyman's sister ofc) is generally really underrated, like she's just straight up the best one, I am sorry Şah, but that's the truth.
Also the relationship between the sisters, mostly Şah and Hatice, also also their relationship to Süleyman (which I also didn't analyze much, that I am extremely ashamed of).
And at this point I am basically obligated to say Mustafa x Taşlicali, like I know they will always be the second best to Süleyman x Ibrahim, but they are extremely shippable too!
Rüstem's relationship to Hürrem is an interesting one, I chalk this one up to the general unwillingness of the fandom to really pay any attention to Rüstem's interiority. Which is extremely unfair, because fucking Ibrahim gets analyzed to hell and back, despite being (I'd argue) just as lacking in redeeming qualities.
From Kösem sultan... Well, just the whole season 1, really. Handan and Halime with their glorious feud, the magnificent beauty of Fahriye sultan's story, my best boy Ahmet, oh my God Ahmet... I feel like we mostly ignore everything in that season that isn't Kösem or Safiye, which is immensely disappointing, because I feel like that season was one of the better ones?

LXXXIX And say, “I am the open warner,”
{In the ministry of Al-Mustafa there was no mincing of matters, no compromises with evil. Evil was denounced in unambiguous terms. Mubin implies both openness and clearness, i.e. freedom from ambiguity.}
LXXXVIII Don’t stretch your eyes to what We have bestowed on some classes of them, and do not be sad over them; but be liberal to the believers.
{It may be that other people have worldly goods which worldly men envy. Do they necessarily bring happiness? Even the temporary pleasure that they may give is not unmixed with spiritual poisons, and even so, will not last. The man of God looks with wistful eyes at other things,––the favour and countenance of God (Allah).
The Prophet of God (Allah), in his human love and sympathy, may grieve over certain classes of people who are puffed up with false notions and callous to the Message of God (Allah). But he should not make himself unhappy. There is no flaw in God’s (Allah's) Plan, and it must prevail. This was addressed in the first instance to Al-Mustafa, but in a minor degree, it applies to all righteous men.
The metaphor is from a bird who lowers her wing in tender solicitude for her little ones. Cf. xvii. 24, where it is applied to "lowering the wing" to aged parents.}
LXXXVII And We have given you seven verses for repetition, and the great Recital.
{The Seven Oft-repeated Verses are usually understood to be the Opening Sura, the Fatiha. They sum up the whole teaching of the Qur’an. What can be a more precious gift to a Muslim than the glorious Qur’an or any Sura of it? Worldly wealth, honour, possessions, or anything else, sinks into insignificance in comparison with it.}
LXXXVI It is your Lord who is the absolute creator, the omniscient one.
{Khallaq: the emphatic intensive form, as meaning the Creator, Who is perfect in His skill and knowledge, and Whose creation answers perfectly to His design. Therefore no one should think that anything has gone wrong in God’s (Allah's) creation. What may seem out of joint is merely the result of our short-sighted standards. It often happens that what appears to us to be evil or imperfect or unjust is a reflection of our own imperfect minds. See the next two verses and notes.}
LXXXV And We only created the heavens and the earth and everything in between them for justice; and since the end of time is sure to come, then forgive with gracious forgiveness.
{God’s (Allah's) Creation is all for a true, just, and righteous purpose. Cf. x. 5. It is not for mere whim or sport. xxi. 16.
The Hour will not be long delayed when the true Design and Pattern of Life will be manifest. We must not be impatient, if there appear to be, to our limited vision, apparent injustices. We must bear and forbear, and as far as our own personal feelings are concerned, we must overlook other people's faults with "a gracious forgiveness".}
LXXXIV and all they had acquired was of no avail to them.
LXXXIII but the blast overtook them one morning,
{The mighty rumbling noise and wind accompanying an earthquake. See vii. 78, n. 1047.}
LXXXII They used to carve secure dwellings in the mountains,
{Remains of these rock edifices in the Hijr are still found, and the City of Petra is not more than 380 miles from Jabal Hijr. See n. 1043 to vii. 73. "Petra" in Greek means "Rock". For the Inscriptions found there, and their significance, see Appendix IV to S. xxvi.}
LXXXI We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them.
LXXX The society of the city of stone repudiated the messengers too:
{"The Rocky Tract" is undoubtedly a geographical name. On the maps of Arabia will be found a tract called the Hijr, north of Medinah, Jabal Hijr is about 150 miles north of Madinah. The tract would fall on the highway to Syria. This was the country of the Thamud. For them and the country see vii. 73, n. 1043.}
LXXIX so We took vengeance on them. For both of them were on an obvious course.
{Both: i.e., The Cities of the Plain and the Companions of the Aika.}
LXXVIII And the people who lived in the woods were wrongdoers too,
{"Companions of the Wood": As-hab ul Aikati. Perhaps Aika is after all a proper noun, the name of a town or tract. Who were the Companions of the Aika? They are mentioned four times in the Qur’an, viz., here, and in xxvi. 176-191; xxxviii. 13; and 1. 14. The only passage in which any details are given is xxvi. 176-191. There we are told that their Prophet was Shu'aib , and other details given correspond to those of the Madyan, to whom Shu'aib was sent as Prophet;, see vii. 85-93. In my notes to that passage I have discussed the question of Shu'aib and the Madyan people. It is reasonable to suppose that the Companions of the Wood were either the same as the Madyan, or a Group among them or in their neighbourhood. [peace and blessings be upon him]}
LXXVII surely there is a sign in that for the believers.
{Verse 75 refers to all who have the intelligence to grasp the Signs of God (Allah). Verses 76-77 specially refer to those who use the Arabia-Syria highroad. The desolation is specially brought home to them.}
LXXVI especially since that was by a road still in existence;
{The Cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were utterly destroyed, and even their precise position cannot be identified. But the brimstone plain of the tract still exists, right on the highway between Arabia and Syria. To the traveller in the neighbourhood of the Dead Sea the whole locality presents a scene of dismal desolation which truly suggests the awful punishment for unspeakable crimes.}
LXXV Surely there are signs in that for those who pay attention,
LXXIV and We turned it upside down and showered them with stones of hardened clay.
{Cf. xi. 82 and notes, in which the word Sijjil and its origin are explained.}
LXXIII Then the blast took them by morning,
{As-Saihat, the mighty Blast, is mentioned as accompanying earthquakes: Cf. xi. 67-94. Here it was the violent wind and noise accompanying the shower of brimstones, possibly with some volcanic action.}
LXXII Indeed, by your life, they, in their stupefaction, were wandering distracted, back and forth.
{The wild, mad fury of passion and sin attains its own destruction and cuts off the last hope of repentance or mercy.}
LXXI He said, “Here are my daughters, if you are going to commit the act.”
{Cf. xi. 78, n. 1575. "My daughters" in the mouth of a venerable man may mean young girls of the City, which would be appropriate considering the large number of men who came to besiege Lot's [peace and blessings be upon him] house.}
LXX They said, “Did we not forbid you from associating with people of the world at large?”
{I understand the meaning to be that Lot, the only righteous man in the City, had frequently remonstrated with the inhabitants against their unnatural crimes, and they had forbidden him to speak to them again on behalf of any one, "as if" (they might tauntingly say) "he was the protector of all and sundry." Some Commentators understand the verse to mean: 'Did we not forbid thee to entertain any strangers?'}
LXIX  “And be mindful of God (Allah), and do not dishonor me.”
LXVIII Lot said, “These are my guests; so do not disgrace me.
LXVII Now people of the city came, rejoicing.
{They were addicted to unnatural crime, and the news of the advent of handsome youg men inflamed them. How true it is that at the very verge of destruction, men rush blindly to their fate, and cut off any last hope of repentence and mercy for themselves. Cf. xv. 72.}
LXVI And We revealed to him that decree, that the last of them would be cut off by morning.
{As the last remnants of the wicked were to be cut off, and as the Mercy of God (Allah) wished to save every true soul who might be with Lot, God’s (Allah's) decree was made known to Lot, so that he might save his adherents.}
LXV “Go with your family during the night, following up behind them, and let none of you look back; but proceed on to where you are directed.”
LXIV “We have brought you the truth, and we are being sincere.
{Al-Haqq: the Punishment which is justly and inevitably due, which must certainly come to pass. Cf. xxii. 18.}
LXIII They said, “Yes, but we have brought you what others are in doubt about.
{The unusual appearance of the angels struck Lot as it had struck Abraham [peace and blessings be upon him]. Knowing the abominable vices to which the Cities were addicted, he feared to entertain handsome young men. They at once disclosed their mission to him. In effect they said: "You, Lot, have been preaching in vain to these wicked Cities. When you warn them of their inevitable end: Destruction, they laugh and doubt. Now their doubt will be resolved. Their destruction will be accomplished before the morning."}
LXII he said, “You are outsiders.”
LXI When the messengers came to the clansmen of Lot,
{Al means people who adhere to the ways and teaching of a great Teacher; e.g., Al-u-Muhammad: it does not necessarily mean race or descendants. Ahl (xv. 65 below) usually implies "household" but may be taken in an extended sense to include People generally, see xv. 67. Qaum (xv. 62) may be any collection or aggregate of people. In xi. 70 the hostile inhabitants of the Cities of the Plain are called the qaum-u-Lut (the People of Lut). Ashab (companions) refers to a Group rather than to a People: Cf. xv; 78.}
LX “except his wife, whom we have determined will be one of those who lag behind.”
{See xi. 81, and n. 1577.}
LIX “except the tribe of Lot; we are to rescue them all,
{Here, again, God’s (Allah's) saving Grace is linked with His Wrath, and is mentioned first.}
LVIII They said, “We have been sent to a sinning people,
{The Cities of the Plain round the Dead Sea, which to this day is called the Bahr Lut. They were given to unspeakable abominations. Read in this connection xi. 77- 83 and notes.}
LVII “So what is your business, O messengers?”
{When cordial understanding was established between Abraham and his guests [peace and blessings be upon them] and probably when the guests were about to depart, Abraham put a question to them: "What is the mission on which you are going?" It was further implied: "Is there anything I can do to help?" But no. The mission was one of Punishment for abominable sins. Note that the mention of God’s (Allah's) Wrath is always linked with that of God’s (Allah's) Mercy, and the Mercy comes first. The same angels that came to punish Sodom and Gomorrah were charged first to give the good news of God’s (Allah's) Mercy to Abraham in the shape of a long line of Teachers of Righteousness.}
LVI He said, “Who despairs of the mercy of his Lord but the lost?
{Cf. xi. 69.}
LV They said, “We bring you good news in truth, so do not be in despair.”
LIV He said, “Do you announce good news to me in spite of the fact that old age has overtaken me? So what is your good news?”
LIII They said, “Don’t be afraid; for we bring you good news of an erudite son.”
{The birth of a son in old age, to a sonless father was glad tidings to Abraham [peace and blessings be upon him] personally. The birth of a son endowed with widsom promised something infinitely more. Considering that the angels were divine messengers, the wisdom referred to was divine wisdom, and the event became an event of prime importance in the world's religious history. For Abraham [peace and blessings be upon him] became, through his progeny, the root of the three great universal religions, diffused throughout the world.}

Enter the Rat is also a surprise at two votes, considering that it's a prequel that doesn't contradict canon

You guys really like the one where All Might adopts everyone huh?
Silver Medal Award
The following AUs got 22 votes:
Blue Sky AU
Clone For One AU
I'm very proud of Clone For One for getting up here since it's the only AU that wasn't prompted in an ask game.
Uncontested Queen Award
The following AU got 36 votes:
Future Toga AU
It was never close. Future Toga stayed at the top of the list throughout the entire competition and had a whopping 14 votes over second place.
