These two amigos go together like peas and carrots. When the lockdown of the pandemic closed the world, they didn’t seem to notice. They had each other. Living here in Costa Rica has brought them even closer. They are always together, always! In fact, I can hear their constant jibber jabber and absurd laughs about their next adventure now as I write this. With their trusty dog 🐕 , Oliver, they have explored the thick forested 🐒 hills surrounding our home, run after waves 🌊 on our many beaches here🏝, ride together everyday to school where we practice Spanish, and the three of them generally participate in ridiculous activities non stop. Amazing experience!!! I posted a couple shots this morning but here are some more that give a better idea of what we saw. The fight for survival is real. Only one in 1000 hatched turtles make it to adulthood. These turtles lay 80-120 eggs 4 times in a year starting as young as 10 years old and up to age 50. We saw thousands of turtles swimming to shore to lay their eggs. It was so cool to look out there and see them almost surfing to the shore on these 8 foot waves and then watch the hatchlings avoid predators and waves to reach the water. Buzzards where everywhere waiting for a turtle snack. It was a celebration to watch the mamas reach shore and work so hard to lay their eggs. It was inspiring to watch the little dudes make it to sea and fight impossible odds to stay alive. Just so cool. Such a great experience. If you haven’t seen this before, add it to your list.
