Seraphim are anomalous creatures that inhabit the InBetween.

They exhibit mammalian features such as homeothermy, fur, feathers, and the ability to lactate. However, they follow a life cycle similar to insects.

When seraphim pupate, they form a cocoon around their soft bodies. Over the course of about 20 years, the muscles and soft tissue will break down and reshape. The only part of the body that does not melt are the bones, which remain mostly intact through the entire metamorphosis.

Phantom had a very traumatic summoning.

All of the ghouls witnessed him being summoned, then saw the flames of hell light up around him as the Pit tried to drag him back down.

None of the pack will ever forget the sounds of his screams and the smell of it all.

The sight of raw meat and the smell of it cooking made Cumulus sick for months afterwards.

The left side of his body is completely burned and scarred over where the pit dwellers grabbed at him and pulled at him once he was topside.

The left side of his face took the brunt of his injuries.

It's completely scarred, the skin stretched and almost waxy in texture. He can't feel anything on the left side of his face, the nerves were burnt off.

His right eye is a soft purple. His left eye is milky white and unfocused, and it never looks in the same direction as his right eye.

When he walks around the Ministry, he wears a prequelle mask that's been cut in half so it only covers the burnt portion of his face.

This is how he got the name 'Phantom'.
