In this meadow the Daucus carota (wild carrot, bird's nest, bishop's lace, Queen Anne's lace) is flowering and includes Daucus carota 'Dara'. This cultivar has buds that are white, before opening to pink flowers, gradually fading to burgundy as flower dies. Once the flowers fade, the seedheads close in on themselves to create an attractive concave shape.

This beautiful flower arrangement on the theme of ‘Pollination’ was created by Jane Belcher and incorporates the blue flowers of Nigella damascena (love-in-a-mist, bird's nest, blue spiderflower, kiss-me-twice-before-I-rise, lady in the bower, love-in-a-puzzle, love-in-a-tangle). This upright, annual has feathery foliage with flowers followed by decorative, inflated seed capsules which are also useful for floral displays. The work received a well deserved Gold medal at the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show, London.
