Man, I knew the BB had played with THE MISFITS way back when, but I never guessed that they also played with SAMHAIN this late into 1984. Wow, this is news to me, and I've never seen this flyer before, either! Anyway, I've always known that BB broke up in '84, but I never knew they held out this long into 1984 before deciding to pull the plug on the whole thing. R.I.P. (1977-1983) MISFITS & BIG BOYS (1979-1984).

TV: Big Boys (2022)
Es 2013 y para el adorable de Jack (Dylan Llewellyn) llegó la hora de salir del cascarón. Tras la muerte de su padre y el año sabático que pasó encerrado y deprimido, la universidad lo espera. Al principio, cree que la experiencia será divertida; al fin y al cabo, Danny (John Pointing), su compañero de habitación, resulta ser muy amistoso, comprensivo y siempre dispuesto para la fiesta, aunque su alegría esconde más de un drama. También se encontrará con un par de compañeros que se volverán grandes amigos: la feminista Corinne (Izuka Hoyle) y el orgullosamente gay Yemi (Olisa Odele), quien será, como es esperable, una suerte de guía a la hora de conectarse con los desafíos de su propia homosexualidad.
El Jack ficticio no lo es tanto: su voz, que narra una historia con constantes flashbacks hacia el pasado reciente, es la de Jack Rooke, creador de una serie en la que, con dosis bien equilibradas de humor, algo de picante y mucha ternura, pasa revista a fragmentos de su propia vida. Así, Rooke ofrece una sitcom británica con mucho corazón, basándose en su libro "Cheer The F**k Up" y en sus shows "Good Grief", "Happy Hour" y "Love Letters" para conformar las dos temporadas de seis episodios cada una.

SOME OF MINOR THREAT'S FINAL SHOWS -- AND IN TEXAS, OF ALL PLACES.
PIC INFO: Spotlight on a a show flyer for MINOR THREAT, BIG BOYS, and OFFENDERS on something of a "mini-tour" for MT as they embarked on a journey to three different cities in Texas, to play three different shows on March 25-27, 1983.
"All of this is being remembered through a fog of time and drug-induced brain damage. This is how remember it but I wouldn’t take it as historical fact…
It’s the end of March, 1983 and MINOR THREAT are making their second swing through Texas. We got connected with them through mutual friends, and played with them in Austin the previous summer. This time we helped set up three Texas shows – Houston, Dallas and Austin – and we are playing all of them as well.
The first show was Friday, March 25th in Houston. Minor Threat came to Austin first, landing on Thursday at Tim Kerr’s house to hang out and spend the night. The next morning we all gathered at Tim’s house to head to Houston for the second show. The Offenders were joining us for the Houston and Dallas shows, and since Big Boys didn’t have a van at the time we piled all of our gear into the Offenders short wheelbase Dodge Sportsman van. I think every touring punk band in the early 80’s had an early 70’s Dodge van…I guess they were cheap and reliable."

Cine: Big Boys (2023)
Tal cual estaba previsto, Jamie (Isaac Krasner) y su hermano Will (Taj Cross) irán de campamento junto a su prima Allie (Dora Madison). Sólo que esta vez, la joven traerá consigo a su nuevo novio, Dan (David Johnson III), un hombre que fascina a Jamie ya desde el primer momento en que lo ve. Claro que es algo que se niega a admitir abiertamente, pero el adolescente de catorce años aprovecha cada ocasión que puede para acercarse a Dan e intentar impresionarlo con sus dotes culinarias y con su actitud positiva.
Jamie y Will conocen a un par de chicas con las que tratan de ligar: Erika (Marion Van Cuyck) y Quinn (Emma Broz). Jamie intenta cumplir su parte con Erika, llegando incluso a emborracharse y a darle un tierno beso en la frente, pero sabe hay algo en él que no cuadra, y es que está muy enganchado con el novio de su prima, al punto de imaginarse juntos (en sus fantasías, el muchacho ya es un adulto, versión que interpreta Jack De Sanz).
El drama imperante es más intenso en la vida de Jamie que en la película, que es un registro lleno de ternura de la confusión sexual de un adolescente, mérito del director y guionista Corey Sherman y de los actores involucrados, entre los cuales aparece la reconocible Emily Deschanel, estrella de la serie "Bones". En lo personal, una grata sorpresa.
