Midden in Tilburg is het Spoorpark te vinden. In vroegere tijden was hier een rangeerterrein te vinden, waar treinen werden onderhouden en gerepareerd. Ook had het bekende transportbedrijf van Gend en Loos hier een overslagafdeling. Begin 21e eeuw was van Gend en Loos verdwenen en kwamen er nog maar sporadisch treinen voor onderhoud. Besloten werd om het terrein een andere bestemming te geven. Uiteindelijk bleek woningbouw niet mogelijk en werd gekozen voor recreatie. Inwoners van Tilburg dienden 80 plannen in, waarvan er 9 zijn uitgevoerd. Hoogtepunten voor kinderen zijn de waterspeelplaats De Rits, de prachtige uitkijktoren, het beekje en de skatebaan. Er kan zelfs gekampeerd worden op het terrein. Uiteraard is ook een stukje spoor behouden. ————————- In the middle of the city of Tilburg you can find “Spoorpark Tilburg”. It’s a beautiful park on a site where trains once shunted and were maintained. Also a famous Dutch transportcompany (van Gend en Loos) worked from this site. At the beginning of the 21st century both functions had moved away and a new destination for the site had to be found. Although building houses was the first option, several reasons caused for another plan. It was decided that a recreational area was to be developed. The citizens of Tilburg came up with 80 suggestions of which 9 were realized. For children the watchtower, skatepark, waterplayground and stream are great!
