Welcome, Raphael Fans ;)

My little ramble may have resonated a bit, so I feel like recklessly re-sharing my Fiend-centric Fic Chapters~ I will likely just update and reblog this as needed. This is taking forever to check over to compile... This should be a relatively comprehensive list and is 99% NSFW so 18+ only. Links currently will take you to the chapters on Tumblr, but my newer side blog @atavsguide will be reposting anything from my ongoing fic work as FULL chapters every day for the next couple of weeks~ That side blog is only being used for full chapter reblogs so those without AO3 have somewhere to read them, and I might make a second one for the other one shots etc~

Chapters from A Tav's Guide

ATG is my ongoing fic centred on f!Tav x Astarion until the act 2 conversation, where they agree that love and lust can be entirely separate, allowing Tav to explore other opportunities for sex with the arrangement that she will write about it in her diary to share later. Rough premise, I know, but it works to allow a fun and smutty story~ Raphael and Haarlep feature a fair few times so far, especially when their appearances were far too fun.

ATG 4 - Dream? Nightmare.

Tav is having trouble sleeping, but eventually manages to drift off. Her dreams, however, are far from restful when a certain devil decides to dance through her sleep. CW and Tags - None, aside from mild powerplay dynamics. ---

ATG 7 - Love? Lust.

Raphael needs to let off some steam, and if there's one thing Haarlep knows it is exactly how to do it. There's no room for any emotional connection beyond pure undiluted physical desire, wants tempted and needs met, and it seems a raised temper can indeed spice things up a little. ATG 9 - Mouse? Rat.

Part 2 of 2 Raphael comes home to find the "Archduchess" mocking him as usual, despite not asking Haarlep to take that form. Still, he is easily mislead by clever words and an illusion that none of them will soon forget. Tav plays her part well and is rewarded by an intense night of pleasure, and the sight of Raphael on his knees before her is a more than pleasant bonus. Not placed in the main timeline, this is after a point where Halsin and Astarion are firmly in a poly relationship with Tav and both comfortable in sex. Meant to be a Halloween Special short it ran long. Haarlep holds a costume party, where almost everyone is invited. The guests quickly remember their host is an incubus as the events take a turn for the delicious. Another special so not in the timeline, but after the Halloween special. ATG Side Story - Villain? Saviour.

The last side story so far, Raphael swoops in at the last moment to save Tav from an untimely demise, and finds himself...caring? No, that can't be right...can it? A softer side to Raphael, until he realises the incubus has poisoned the healing potions with their devious plans. CW and Tags - implied aphrodisiac, power play, hurt/comfort, willpower bondage

The Prequel Series - Scent of Cinnamon

With only 2 chapters so far (but more to follow), this is my newest series, a prequel to the games intending to follow from the first meeting of Raphael and Haarlep until the beginning of the game. It may synch to ATG canon, but will otherwise focus far more on the Cambion and the incubus and the relationship they share.

The Cambion, The Gift, and The Contract

The very first meeting, also establishing Haarlep before they became Haarlep and what they looked like. The incubus steps in to the mansion in Avernus to meet their new Master, the one they've been sent to spy on, carrying nothing but the clothes on their back and specific instructions. They don't even have a name any more, trading everything away for the promise of far greater rewards if they succeed. Meanwhile, a young Raphael does not have time or patience to entertain the idea of another attempted distraction, until they both realise there might just be a way that both can get what they want. All it takes is a little contract... CW and Tags - Mostly talking but sets up the premise, slow burn, devilish deals

The Contract, The Kiss, and The Cambion’s Pride

The talking is over, the deal must now be seen through. Raphael gets a taste of what the incubus can do, while the newly named Haarlep claims ownership of their own Master, ensuring he will remember every inch of their body when they give it up to become his double as they both agreed. This includes Haarlep giving Raphael a taste of both forms they can take, to ensure nothing about them can be forgotten. Gala of the Damned

Raphael needs to attend a ball for the powerful and influential fiends of the Nine Hells, but he needs a date. Haarlep reluctantly takes on their Archduchess form, wearing a corset and overall far too many clothes for their liking. Later, Haarlep makes a corset out of Raphael with cruel metal hooks and ribbon, taking what they feel is owed for the night. CW and Tags - BDSM, power play, bondage, hooks, piercings, pain play

The Mouse Trap

They've got their title by being a driving force in many people's lives, a beacon of light, a shoulder to cry on, basically anything you could ever want her to be! She will respect your space, cheer you on, help you, and make you happy however she can! His smile can brighten the day, and the comfort he gives is priceless! Intense, right? It's almost as if she never has time for herself! But they don't mind if it means their friends are happy!

She makes her jewelry herself! He's very crafty and LOVES making gifts for his friends!! She also adores decora fashion!

She wears her heart on her sleeve, is very expressive and emotional, and therefore easy to manipulate. A lot of friendships were broken because she was too trusting. He is very forgiving, but even he has a snapping point.

(Optional Pre-Game Headcanon)Akeni has been a chronically ill person since the day they were born into a poor family that barely made ends meet.(That part is not a headcanon, it's true to her character no matter the AU) They never had a chance to make any friends. They were agonizinly lonely and desperate for closure, for... something. She wanted to get better, she was so desperate for a normal high school life and friends, that she decided to audition for the 53rd Killing Game. They even promised to cure her, they have the means after all! It felt like a right thing to do at the time. Even if it meant...

He instantly liked his new classmates! They were all so unique and interesting! She quickly made friends with the majority of them and has never given up on befriending the more reluctant ones! Even they began warming up to her eventually! She treasures them all more than anything! How sad that their happy time was limited.

Do you ever read your own writing for fun?

YES. Absolutely 100% yes! I write for myself and my own enjoyment first and foremost; I know what I like and how I like it, so it only makes sense that I enjoy reading my works, haha! It's a lot of fun!

If you could erase any three tropes from existence, what would they be?

This is a hard one to answer, because I'm a strong believer in the fact that there's no capital sins in writing -- as long as the writer knows what they're doing, anything and everything can become the foundation for a wonderful, poignant story.

That being said... there are some common tropes (particularly in romances) I'm not too fond of. Love triangles are one of those (they mostly seem childish to me, honestly), and I also don't really enjoy love at first sight (attraction yes, interest yes, but love? at first sight? definitely not my thing!). Contrary to popular taste, I'm not a big fan of enemies-to-lovers, unless there's an extensive 'friends' phase in between. So yeah, if I had to pick: love triangles, love at first sight, enemies-to-lovers. :)

yeah yeah i got recommended that Henry Cooldown analysis video whatever. i am still not over people comparing Henry to a medieval knight, NOT even taking the time to unpack that said mental image of a knight is 'mostly' associated with the British Monarchy*, an extension of its Empire that *checks notes* did a long list of atrocities like imperialism and colonialism, and also (multiple) genocides.

Henry is NOT British, he is Irish. Although considering the history of Ireland and how poorly the British Empire has treated them (amongst SO MANY OTHER COUNTRIES AND DIASPORAS), yeah it's NOT surprising that an Irish man like Henry is essentially forced to adopt quote on quote 'British sensibilities' to 'survive'. <- intentional imagery or not, the implications are not lost on me.

Like okay, calling out the comparison is cool but it sure would be nice if people went further to unpack what that means and implies in the long term. you know, like ACTUAL CRITICAL ANALYSIS?!

#I COULD do a whole essay about this. but i don't have the spoons to do so.#this is were i drop the big ball of information about me because fun fact! I am IRISH AND SCOTTISH. AND GREEK. so like.#so yeah i REALLY don't like the british #i hope in alternate universe i make youtube video essays about no more heroes and successfully argue how its about inter-generational traum #shallow rambles #nomoreposting #technically I was quite surprised by being recommended it. but looking at the comments i realised that their interpretation #is like the buy the books obvious surface level analysis of henry's character. not actually. thinking about the deeper things #behind his character. like. are we really going to ignore how his memories were wiped when he was adopted? okay.#to me henry is an example of someone finally confronting their trauma. how they cope is a whole other thing but henry is second #to jeane (the sister) that actually takes the time to confront the trauma although unfortunately this is mostly implied off-screen #travis BARELY acknowledges how fucked up it was for him and his siblings to be split apart and raised by different families #this got really fucking personal and i don't think anyone has actually cared enough to even consider the historical subtext #of these characters but that's just my take.#also i'm not fucking listening to a man explain to me what henry is. you know in a filmbro way. i have my own brain and interpretation and #that is all that matters to me. if you liked the guys video that's fine but honestly i am just not that interested in the essay.#you like henry for the rivalry trope. Thinking about name changes for my au and like, logically, Jayfeather shouldn't be named that anymore since he's named after Crowfeather. Leafpool no longer pines after him for years and years, that gets swapped to Crowfeather- she's more disillusioned than anything. And I just might make it so that Jayfeather and Hollyleaf swap places and Jay is a warrior (if only because medic Hollyleaf is BRUTAL imo and I love it) so Firestar names him. But like... the triplet's names are honestly some of my favorites in the series. So I don't want to change them LMAO.

#alsooo I want to keep jay being prickly and all bc at the end of the day its a fun character trait to work with #buuuuuuuuuuut i dont want him in a position of power in that case #razorverse #also ig leafpool would name hollyleaf after herself in this case which tbh is out of character for her at that point #but hollyleaf is such a good name and i have no desire to change it #maybe the name was recommended to leaf by squirrel because she was like ''you had to watch me raise these kits as my own with no say-#''-so you should be allowed to name your daughter after yourself. it's a beautiful name and I'm sure she'd love it''#... maybe when hollyleaf goes into the tunnel she drops the ''leaf'' part because she thinks its dishonorable and sickening...#but takes it back when she returns to the clan

Disclaimer: These thoughts are more emotionally than logically expressed, and reflect my own experience and preference.

#I have some beef with Lockwood and I say this as someone who really enjoys both the show and the books.#I've been doing a rewatch to introduce it to my dad (who loves it!) but we just hit Episode 5 and - is it just me but does this episode #plunge rather deeper into the darkness than we see in the previous episodes? It makes sense narratively of course #Complete Fiction has the task of structuring it such that there's a proper midpoint shift in the series and in my own works I increase #the stakes around this point and really let the protagonists struggle. So it's not so much that I have an issue with things getting #more focused dangerous and difficult. I don't know that I have a logical reason for the unease I feel with Episode 5 - there's just somethi #vaguely disturbing to me about it. It may be my own personal sensitivities. The interrogation scene at Winkman's has absolutely nothing #graphic about it and I appreciate the discretion - but it's just so intense - the threats to draw on Lockwood's face with the heated #instrument - the whole electric shocks sequence - I have been told I have a particularly vivid and empathetic imagination so I may just #be filling in too many gaps and feeling the scene more intensely than some would but it genuinely bothered me. More so on rewatch #though I didn't like it the first time either. I wonder too if it's because on rewatch I can compare it to the scene in the book #Gosh - the book scene is *comedic!* 'Let's disguise ourselves as ditzy tourists and while you check the backroom I'll let my coins #fall all over the place and crawl around under the tables loaded with antiques and freak the owners out! And when they get caught #Winkman just lifts them off the ground menacingly and chucks them in the street. The fact that we had to turn this into a midnight #torture scene for TV - I don't know - I don't like it. And just the atmosphere isn't as balanced as in the other episodes. So many flashbac #to grotesque corpse faces which are somehow a lot more disturbing than the CGI ghosts which feel much more Halloweenish #Not much love and light carved out in the darkness. There's some for sure! And even in the torture scene that bugs me I appreciate how it #shows Lockwood's heart and allows us to explore some meaningful territory that the ditzy tourist scene doesn't #I'm just griping and mainly hoping that the rest of the series is more how I remember it from first watch. The warmth of the Portland #Row gang means a lot to me. Stacking this dark feel on top of the discomfort I have with the harsh language rubs me the wrong way #(Thankfully I have online filters so the language isn't an issue for me but it does make me more reluctant to recommend to friends.

#went to the writing thing!!! got a GOOD amount of work done did a Quick Sweep of my second act to edit more in depth later #and talked to some cool people about art and gender and disability and politics and stuff!!!!!!!#it's Nice being around people who aren't My People because i feel like i'm allowed to have opinions #ANYWAYS my bpd has been spiking because of [redacted] doing [redacted] and [redacted] and [redacted]#BUT i have evening plans of watching adventuring party and planning out more Long Term work <3 #ALSO I BOUGHT MYSELF A NON-SAFE DRINK AND I LIKED IT #as in not one of my safe foods #i got a little strawberry yogurty drink thing and it was really nice!!!! AND it was only 90p!!!!!#and i walked home as the sun set and it was really nice even though i got lost because i was in a part of the city i'm not used to #BUT i managed to navigate all by myself (by following bus stops of the bus i got up to the place)#currently feeling very in my bejeweled era. feeling very i miss you but i miss sparkling!!!!!!!#i love discovering myself again after Trauma and Horrors. sadly this will probably all go away on saturday but we stay silly!!!1 #i just feel more like a Person when i'm on my own or with people i'm not close to #ALSO I BOUGHT A BOOK TODAY #it was one of my favourite poets and i got to talk about him with the bookstore owners and it was so nice to have people Understand #AND I TALKED ABOUT WRITING PLAYS WITH A GUY WHO WAS ALSO WORKING ON HIS PLAY #we talked about being actor-writers and Bridging The Gap of the two mediums #he also recommended me some workshops i was going to sign up for anyway but it was nice of him :)#i LOVE being in queer and neurodivergent spaces!!!!!#i was very shy and socially anxious but i was able to approach people and have conversations the whole time!!!!#i did sit on my own to do my work but i preferred it that way :) i also needed so much table space for all my pages #ANYWAYS. rambling over. had a nice evening. this is my little journal entry :)

If anyone is here for the crafty side of my personality, I have a new sweater in the making so..

I'm crocheting again. This time it's a dark grey turtleneck. I'm in the turtleneck/mock neck era because I'm old and frail and I get easily ill now if my neck is uncovered in the cold weather so...

BUT THIS TIME I'M MAKING THE CUFFS AND THE WAISTBAND AS KNIT INSTEAD! AH HA! You aren't catching me making crochet rib again, no sir, I'm knitting it instead. 😤 I'll have to crochet it again for another project I have in mind down the line but.. I just didn't want to deal with it this time. Plus, I miss knitting.. 😩 I'm knitting the cuffs flat and I'll knit the waistband in the round. Why not knit both in the round or knit both flat? Don't ask me, I just do things weirdly.. I felt like knitting the cuffs flats and the waistband in the round, beats me too.

Also if you want a tutorial for how to make this, I used this video I found on youtube as a general guide. She explains it very well, so I think anyone that can do basic crochet should be able to do it too if you'd like! I didn't use the same chain count because I'm using a 3.5mm crochet hook and I'm not doubling my yarn but the concept was the same, I just added more chains and more rounds.

i rly like that i'm at a place with my art where i can literally see the improvement from one piece to the next

#it's not perfectly linear and it depends on how much effort i put into a piece #but like. i'm actually developing an intuitive sense for anatomy #i know that i'm still not very good at it but i don't mind anymore because i know that i AM getting better #and that i can KEEP getting better #i can start a piece with a vision and i can make the vision happen on the paper #not perfect! definitely still clumsy! i have things i know i want to work on!#but instead of being frustrated and unsatisfied with every piece bc i only see the flaws #i like looking at my own art now #and it's only rly been in the past year or so that i've been actively working on getting better #so it's just. nice :)#i'm like a level 15 writer level 6 actor and a level 2 visual artist kfsjhfkjdjd #so when i'm suddenly gaining access to level 3 artist abilities it's like OH WOW #whereas it feels like i haven't leveled up my writing in years #anyway. being able to physically see ur progress in a skill is nice i recommend it

Okay so just because it happened today, a friendly tip/reminder/hint:

If your friend has a horse or multiple horses, please don't ask if you can come over and ride it or get a lesson on it.

For one, your friend probably isn't qualified to give lessons and as someone who's been riding for almost 20 years and has ridden a decent variety of horses, not every horse is qualifed to give lessons. You could get seriously hurt, or hurt the horse.

Secondly, it's kind of rude and assumptive. Are you going to ask your friend "when are you going to invite me to your house to play in your pool?" or "when do I get to come over and pet your dog?" before they invite you? Are you going to ask them when they're going to make you dinner?

Thirdly, you probably don't know the horse. You don't know the training on it. You don't know how old it is. You don't know if it's got traumatic history. Does your friend even ride their horse, or is it a companion animal? Maybe it's had an injury that keeps it from being ridden. Maybe their horse is old. Maybe it's young. Maybe it has training in it's youth but has been sitting for a few years. Maybe it's got quirks, like you need to leave it's mouth alone or if you put your feet in the wrong place it rears. I've known horses who went backwards because someone who didn't know what they were doing got on them.

If you're invited out to ride or pet or interact, that's fine. I've invited a different friend out, purely because she's been around horses before but not taught the proper way to interact and she wants to learn how to handle them on the ground before riding. But don't invite yourself out, or ask when you get to come ride. You don't know the horse, and you don't know the circumstances.

I was at work.)#But also I've seen first hand people who get a horse just because they could afford like 2 or 3k to drop on it #Without knowing anything about horses in the first place #The fact that no one (horses included) died is a miracle #The man had his four year old daughter riding a barely broke 8 year old horse around in a construction helmet #I'm shuddering remembering how they rode #If you want to ride don't ask your friend. Seriously.#If you're that interested in riding a horse find a resort or a lesson school or a trail riding business #I would highly recommend actual lessons bc you'll actually learn something #But like. It's annoying when people assume they get to ride my horses just because I own them.#It is not as simple and easy as movies make it out to be #There is SO MUCH that goes into riding
