Makeup for Magick/Ritual: Imbolc
So, this is a post that got taken own off of reddit because, apparently, a post about makeup as a tool in witchcraft is not... about... witchcraft? Okay? Anyway, this is the copy/paste of the original first post and the rest of this series will be here, so I hope you enjoy. And to anyone coming here from r/witchcraft, welcome to the absolute hot mess that is The Whatever Book!
“Well, here we go! The first post in (hopefully) a series that some of you were surprisingly interested in! Not gonna lie, I thought it would get a bunch of downvotes and that'd be that, but here we are! Before I start, quick disclaimer: My current phone is a 3S, so the pictures aren't the... best quality. But it's what we're working with. Now let's get into it!
So, quick cheeky recap of what I said in my original post: My other passion besides witchcraft is makeup. It's how I express myself artistically and I often use themed makeup looks as a way to celebrate the sabbats, doubling as offerings on Imbolc and Lammas/Lughnasadh. Sometimes, I even incorporate themed looks into spellwork in the same way I would decorate an intention-specific altar. (I fully blame Ms. Frizzle for my love of themed/inspired-by makeup looks, btw.) Now let's get into the post! First sabbat: Imbolc.
Tumblr media
Generally, my rituals focus on the more fiery aspect of Lady Brighid on Imbolc; so reds, oranges and yellows are what I reach for. Depending on what you focus on (cleansing/purification, healing, the returning warmth, prep for Spring, new growth, etc), what you choose may be way different. So lets take a peek at the palettes I have in my collection that I can see fitting this coming up sabbat, starting with Colourpop!
Tumblr media
Here we have the "Uh Huh, Honey" palette, the "Orange You Glad?" palette and the "Main Squeeze" palette. I'd use these three together for my more fiery looks, but "Uh Huh, Honey" could be paired with a more icy look if your focus is on the returning warmth.
Tumblr media
Speaking of! This is the "Going Coconuts" palette, "Blue Moon" palette, "Mint to Be" palette and "Just My Luck" palette.
"Going Coconuts" is definitely a good, affordable neutral palette for Imbolc. It's neutral, but can lean on the icier side thanks to the shade "Palm Reader". Add a pop of yellow from the "Uh Huh, Honey" palette and you're set for a "returning warmth" look.
Then there's the "Blue Moon" and "Mint to Be" palettes, which are both good for the more healing/cleansing aspects of Imbolc. "Blue Moon" can go icy (and be paired with "Uh Huh, Honey" for the returning warmth), or can be used to represent Brighid's healing/cleansing waters. The shades in "Mint to Be" are somewhere between wintery greens and spring greens, so perfect for Imbolc! These mints give me very "fresh and clean" vibes, and also would not be out of place on a set of nurse scrubs. More gentle healing than "Blue Moon".
"Just My Luck" is your girl if you're going for the green of "new growth". Try pairing with "Mint to Be" for a more interesting green look.
Tumblr media
The last CP palette I'd look at is the "Yes, Please" palette. It's a descent dupe for the Give Me Glow "Extra Spicy" palette if it's sold out. This is Colourpop's original eyeshadow palette and has those fiery tones I reach for this time of year.
Then, onto the Give Me Glow palettes, there's the "Extra Spicy" palette. I would reach for this one over the "Yes, Please" palette, because it's a better formula and is multi-functional. "Mild", "Spicy Peach Martini" and "Habanero" make for really great blushes and "Ghost Pepper" is a really cool fiery-yellow highlighter. This is being discontinued, however, so If you want it you need to grab it while you can. 10/10, would absolutely recommend!
Tumblr media
Next is "The Grunge" palette and the "Sweet & Sticky" palette. Both are descent neutral/nude palettes for this time of year (if you aren't like me and are down for to look like a "Happy Clown") "The Grunge" palette has some interesting matte pops and has two metallics that could lean either warm or cool depending on what you pair with it. It's currently out of stock, and I'm not sure if it's coming back? This past Black Friday, they had it labeled as "discontinued" but I'm not 100% sure.
"Sweet & Sticky" is a cinnamon bun themed palette, and the colors are spot on! I absolutely consider cinnamon buns to be an appropriate food for Imbolc, what with the white icing (melting snow) paired with the cinnamon filling (warmth) in the roll (earth). An excellent small palette for neutral lovers, and "Icing Drip" and "Sweet Cinnamon Latte" are good highlighters depending on your skin tone.
Tumblr media
The last Give Me Glow palette is the "Summer Vibes" palette! Specifically for the shades "Orange Soda Pop", "Mango Margarita" and "Sunny". Again, for the fiery aspect of the Sabbat. All the shades in this palette are available in singles, but I'd say just get the palette if you're interested in it. This will definitely come up again in my post for Litha/Summer Solstice, no doubt about it.
Tumblr media
Now onto BH Cosmetics! We'll start with the two bigger palettes I chose this time around: "The Zodiac" palette and the Holiday 2020 "Naughty" palette. "The Zodiac" is a that cool with a pop of warm that fots the Sabbat, and the formula is gorgeous! The middle shade is a baked highlighter as well, and looks great on fair/light skintones (don't ask me about deeper skin tones, since I'm out here looking like Casper the Friendly Ghost and have absolutely no clue).
The "Naughty" palette... I'd say it's the only holiday palette that I've seen in the past few years that a brand actually put any real thought and effort into. And the formula's 10/10, so well done, BH! If you want to do a warm tone or cool toned Imbolc look, it's got you. If you want to do a fiery look, it's got you. If you want to do an icy with a pop of fire look, it's got you. It can be used all year round, too, which is pretty great, and you can use it as a sort of anchor palette for different looks. The day I'm writing this (January 18-19, 2021) it's on sale for 60% off, so only $12, and I honestly think you should snatch it up. Definitely going to be showing up in my Yule/Winter Solstice post.
Tumblr media
On to the smaller BH palettes! First batch are "Love in London", "Smitten in Switzerland" and "Chillin' in Chicago". These are the three more neutral/"wearable" (eff, I hate that word) palettes in the BH Travel Series. There are a couple more like this, but they'll pop up in later posts.
"Love in London" can go either warm or cool depending on the shades you use, but either way, the tones are deep enough to fit the winter season we're still in.
"Smitten in Switzerland" is more cool-toned, muted-colorful palette with a bright pop. My favorite sage green eyeshadow look is from this palette. Outside of any Sabbat uses, I genuinely cooked up an entire scenario based solely on the vibes of the palette. Like, this is the palette you'd wear if the world was no longer on fire, and you and your family decided to go to a ski lodge for a weekend. You're no winter sports kind of Witch, no skiing or snowboarding for you (you're not here to break all the bones in your body so, hard pass). Instead, you sit by the lodge's fireplace/hearth wearing a cute and cozy sweater, perhaps some cute boots. Maybe you're reading a book or on a laptop/phone/whatever with a mug filled with a hot beverage of your choice, possibly spiked. And there you stay, looking like a cute snow bunny while you wait for the rest of your family to be done nearly getting themselves killed on the slopes.
*Cough cough* Now back to the post... Eh-heh...
"Chillin' in Chicago" is the palette to grab for a muted fiery look. Still has some color to it, but nothing as intense as, lets say, the "Extra Spicy" palette. Great alternative.
Tumblr media
Now for the two bright/colorful palettes from BH's Weekend Vibes series. "Avocado Toast" and "Blueberry Muffin". "Avocado Toast" has your greens/warm browns with a pink and yellow pop that'd work great for any "new growth" symbolism. Meanwhile, for my fellow New Englanders, "Blueberry Muffin" gives us those more icy tones for the foot of snow we usually get on, or around, Imbolc. Any other New England Witches just look at that whole "new growth" bit when they first got started and went "B!tch, how?!" ...No? Just me? Side note, "Decadent" is the exact shade of the stain from blueberry juice and that made me idiotically happy. Don't ask, cause I don't know either.
Tumblr media
The Shroud Cosmetics "Creepy Cute" palette! Widely considered one of the best pastel palettes on the market (Use code BEAUTBEAN fo 10% off! Did I just plug one of my favorite beauty YouTubers Why yes, yes I did...), it's insanely pigmented! "Void", "Tombstone", "Creep It Real", and "Cold Shoulder" can help you with colder, more wintery looks. "Cold Shoulder" and "Creep It Real" could be used for healing/purification if that's your ritual focus, and "Third Eye" and "Strawberry Milk" could both be used as crease/blending shades for a more fore-based look.
Tumblr media
These three are my mainstream "if color is not your jam" palettes. The Tarte "Tartelette Toasted" palette, and the Anastasia Beverly Hills "Soft Glam" palette and "Sultry" palette.
The "Tartelette Toasted" palette is your neutral fiery palette. It gives a nice orange-red "toasted" look that fits the Sabbat well. Not my first choice, but if you're looking for a "basic b!tch" warm palette, she's your girl.
"Soft Glam" and "Sultry" are more warm tone vs. cool tone. If you want a more "cold, thawing earth" vibe, "Sultry" is the way to go. If you want to get it, I think it's only available in bundles on Ulta and the ABH website (but it's like.. half off in Ulta sooooo....). And "Soft Glam", obviously, for the warmer aspects of the Sabbat.
Now, on to my single shadows!
Tumblr media
The top five are from Shroud Cosmetics. The first four (left to right) would be good for a fiery look), while the last one would be good to use for a water look/pop.
"World Eater" (Drool-worthy metallic red), "Ignite" (coppery orange metallic), "Vigil" (yellow-gold metallic), "Oracle" (light gold "inner corner highlight" type of metallic), "Sea of Ghosts" (medium blue metallic with a gold shift).
The bottom one is from Colourpop in the shade "Glass Bull", which is the perfect inner corner highlight for icier blue/purple looks.
Last, but certainly not least, my Give Me Glow Singles!
Tumblr media
The amount of times I had to curate these singles so they would fit into one large palette.. I just... That's why this took three years to figure out. Anyways, I have a few different color stories in this palette, so stick with me more a second.
*Row 1 (L-R)*
"Marshmallow" - White matte. Pretty basic.
"Halo" - White metallic with baby blue and gold shifts. Perfect inner corner pop of sun for icy looks.
"Satellite" - Straight up silver metallic. If the Tin Man is your fashion icon, this'll do ya.
"Bubbles" - Icy blue metallic.
"Sky High" - Bright sky blue matte. Not pictured because mine came broken, but it's legit the perfect Imbolc blue.
"Blue Jeans" - Muted grey-blue metallic.
*Row 2 (L-R)*
"Cream Please" - Basic cream shade.
"Spring Break" - Green-blue with gold shift.
"Kiwi" - Kiwi Green. What it says on the tin.
"Joker" - Olive green metallic with lime undertones.
"Patty"- Just a true green matte.
"Space Dust" - Deep Smokey true grey.
*Row 3 (L-R)*
"On Ice" - Pale champagne nude metallic.
"Highlight" - Pale champagne gold metallic.

"Low Battery" - True red orange matte, more on the red side.
*Row 4 (L-R)*
"Selfie" - Burnt golden orange metallic.
"Hashtag" - Grungy medium toned orange matte.
"Chili" - Deep blue based rusty red matte.
"Icy Frap" - Icy warm champagne metallic with taupe undertones.
"Iced Coffee" - Deep bronze gold metallic.
"Dark as My Soul" - Grungy deep warm brown matte.
Now on to the color stories:
*Color Story 1* Icy Blue with a sunny gold pop on the inner corner (returning warmth)
Marshmallow, Halo, Satellite, Bubbles, Sky High, Blue Jeans, Space Dust.
*Color Story 2* Greens (new growth)
Cream Please, Spring Break, Kiwi, Joker, Patty, Space Dust, On Ice.
*Color Story 3* Brighid's Fire
Highlight, Lucky Charm, Fierce, You're Cheesy, Low Battery
*Color Story 4* Warming earth (warm tone browns)
Selfie, Hashtag, Chili, Cream Please, Highlight.
*Color Story 5* Frozen earth (cool tone browns)
Icy Frap, Iced Coffee, Dark as My Soul, Marshmallow, Halo.
And that's that for Imbolc! Holy crap, that took ages! The pictured do not do these shadows justice. One day I'll have a phone with a properly functioning camera...
Well, Glamour Ghouls (you can boo me, it's fine), it's your turn to shop your stash and get those creative juices flowing! Is there anything in your collection that you'd grab for Imbolc? Sound off in the comments and let's inspire each other!”

15 Swiss Foods to try in Switzerland or at Home
For such a small country, Switzerland puts on a show for culinary adventurers. Beyond the soaring Swiss Alps, the stunning Lake Lugano, and picturesque villages, Swiss cuisine is a treat for the tastebuds.
Common Swiss foods we all know and love include Swiss chocolate and cheese. But there is so much more to the country than those two famous delicacies. As you travel between regions from the French-speaking western region to the Italian-speaking south, there is a great variety of delectable dishes to try.
With our help, you’ll be able to explore the many parts of Switzerland sampling the best local eats and foods that have become popular all across the country.
Ready to explore Switzerland? Read our guide to the ultimate Switzerland itinerary.
Swiss Cheese
Wherever it is that you call home, it’s likely you would have stumbled upon a version of Swiss Cheese. The ‘holey’ cheese has grown into a worldwide phenomenon. But what you may know, and love is not actually Swiss Cheese, it’s Emmental.
Switzerland is arguably the home of cheese, just based on the sheer amount of options available to locals. Including anything from your soft and smelly cheeses to the hard and delightful. So as you can see Emmental isn’t the only choice of cheese in Switzerland.
Wherever you are on your travels through Switzerland, you can pick up some certified local gems such as Gruyere (also common around the world) or alpkäse (alpine farmer’s cheese). Here, Swiss Cheese isn’t a singular type of cheese, but a label for all things cheesy.
The best way to maneuver around the scene is to explore one of the major supermarket chains and gather a bundle of all the cheeses that take your interests. Now that you know your favorites, you can make your way through the country like a dairy expert.
Swiss Cheese Fondue
Speaking of traditional Swiss food, when the cold winter months appear in Switzerland, cheese takes on a whole new meaning. Rather than a popular breakfast item, locals take their favorite cheeses to create cheese fondue.
The cheese melts in a big hot fondue pot and is a popular dish for group settings. This delicious treat helps stave off the cold, providing a warm and soothing taste. The melted cheese can be eaten via a small chunk of dipping bread, fruit or even a hard piece of cheese on a fork.
As the cheese bubbles away, the swirling hot flavors are the perfect antidote after a big day on the ski slopes or around the Christmas tree as the snow falls outside. If you are traveling to Switzerland in the summer, however, you won’t have to go without. Swiss Cheese Fondue is still a common menu item, with some restaurants serving this popular Swiss food as a specialty.
Enjoying these foods of Switzerland? Sample some other favourite food from around the world
Tête de Moine
Tête de Moine is a unique Swiss food you must try when visiting Switzerland. This cheese was first made by monks in the Bellelay Monastery. The cheese translates to ‘monk’s head’, with historical texts showing the monks at Bellelay had exceptional cheese-making skills from as far back as the 12th century.
The semi-hard cheese is cylindrical and made from cow’s milk. Before consumption, the cheese is placed on spruce woods for over two and a half months. While Gruyere and Raclette enjoy famous reputations, such is the prominence of Tête de Moine that it has been used as a form of payment throughout local history.
Rather than being cut, they shave the cheese using a girolle. The instrument helps to scrape a thin layer of cheese off the top, which oxygenizes the cheese and releases powerful aromas.
Berner Platte
From Cheese Fondue to a rustic Swiss dish, Berner Platte is a hearty meal that originated from the nation’s capital. Hailing from Bern, Berner Platte is a traditional dish that brings together a variety of meats and vegetables.
When the Swiss defeated the French army in 1798, a victory celebration occurred where members of the community contributed. As it was late winter, preserved foods and staunch vegetables were the ingredients of choice.
The simple nature of the dish means it can easily be replicated back home, with all the key ingredients readily found in your local supermarket. The meal combines potatoes with a variety of meats, from smoked pork to beef.
Sausages mixed in sauerkraut, green beans and pickled turnips, are later added to round out this generous meal. While some prefer to turn Burner Platte into a stew, traditionally each item is cooked separately and placed on a large plate.
Wondering what else to do when in Bern? Why not explore Basel?
Älpermagronen Macaroni Pasta
One of the most loved Swiss foods is their Alplermagronen dish, AKA Alpine Macaroni. Aside from having an epic name, the very thought of Mac and Cheese is likely to make many traveler’s hearts skip a beat. But it wouldn’t be the Swiss way to simply copy another recipe. No, you’ll find some interesting differences in the Alplermagronen.
The basic meal has long been a way to feed the country’s alpine farmers. The traditional Swiss food combines the usual macaroni paste with local cheese (yes please!) and small potatoes cooked with onions. From there, different restaurants and local homes add their own twists, including homegrown herbs and spices or bacon.
To add the cherry on top, warm apple puree is then added to the dish, putting a unique exclamation mark on the Swiss version of a common worldwide meal.
Saffron Risotto
A traditional Swish dish hailing from the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland is Saffron Risotto. First made in the town of Ticino, on the southern edge of the country, the risotto is made with saffron from the local canton (state/province) of Valais.
The saffron is a beautiful dark red color and is known to be some of the best on earth. This may explain why the hand-picked spice is known as ‘red gold’. Aside from the iconic ingredient, the creamy risotto is like what you may have had at home, comprising rice, garlic, onions and butter. Common local additions include bacon and veal.
To top it all off, the risotto is seasoned with pepper, salt and thyme, along with the distinctive smell of the world-famous saffron.
Swiss Chocolate
After all the delicious melted cheese and classic Swiss foods, we have saved the best for last! Swiss chocolate is popular all around the world, with such classics as Lindt and Toblerone hailing from Switzerland. The latter copying the iconic shape of the Matterhorn.
Aside from the famous delicacies that exist wherever you go, no trip to Switzerland will be complete without sampling some local creations. Authentic and utterly amazing, the local chocolate you should get your hands on includes Callier and Frey.
They can be found in supermarkets around the country. But nothing tops wandering city streets where you will find chunks of unforgettable Sprüngli chocolate that you will want to take home with you.
Bündner Nusstorte
From popular dinners to one of the most delectable deserts in Swiss cuisine, Bündner Nusstorte is a tart made from shortbread pastry. Originating in the Swiss German canton of Graubünden, the pastry is filled with caramel and a choice of nuts.
The recipe for the popular Swiss food dates back all the way to the year 1900. However, it’s likely Bündner Nusstorte didn’t rise to national prominence until 1934. At the Swiss Sample Fair, a local baker, Fausto Pult brought along his creation, wowing the crowd.
Walnuts are the most common choice to complement the caramel, although other nuts can be used. When you’re traveling around Switzerland, you can expect to have Bündner Nusstorte by the slice, while enjoying hot tea or coffee on the side.
Rösti
Just like macaroni pasta, another traditional Swiss dish you may have tried already is Rosti. Hash browns are very similar to the Swiss version, which is pronounced locally as ‘Rir-stee’. To create the Swiss classic, you will need a bunch of grated potatoes that have been parboiled. From there, leave the potatoes to sit overnight.
The next day, the real fun begins. Start by heating a deep-sided pan and adding enough of your grated potatoes to create what would be a thick pancake. But remember, patience is key. Fry your Rosti slowly, while adding butter along the way. When one side feels solid, flip your pancake over and begin the process again.
Once the second side is done, your simple yet mouthwatering authentic Swiss dish awaits! But to be even more Swiss, why not add on a fried egg, bacon chunks, or melted Gruyere!
Landjäger
When translated, landjäger means land hunter due to its popularity among traditional hunters and those traveling the Swiss countryside. So why is this Swiss food such a regular choice? Convenience and flavor.
Landjäger is readily found not just in Switzerland, but in France, Austria and Germany as well. The semi-dried sausage is pressed until attaining the standard rectangular shape before being smoked and dried. The most common meats are pork and beef, which are then combined with red wine, spices, sugar, and lard.
Landjäger is easy to carry with no concerns about the food deteriorating. It’s the perfect snack to keep the hunger at bay as you traverse the Swiss Alps or journey from canton to canton.
Zopf Bread
Just like cheese, the Swiss are all about their bread. Wherever you travel around the country, you will find an enormous selection of diverse types, along with specialties that are distinct to each region. Now if you’re impressed by the 475 types of cheese found in Switzerland, prepare to once more pick your jaw from off the ground.
Switzerland has 22 specialities breads hailing from various regions. They help make up over 200 types of breads around the country. You could eat a different type each day and still have a new one to try after six months!
But even if you aren’t a fan of fluffy flour, there’s still one type of bread that everyone should try while in Switzerland. Zopf bread is traditional Swiss food that is found everyday on local breakfast tables. The soft, knotted bread is had alongside jam, nutella or a simple dose of butter. Simple yet incredibly delicious, you’ll want to journey to your local bakery every day. You can also expect Zopf bread to make an appearance on restaurant menus around Switzerland.
Raclette
Now that you’ve tried regular local cheese, it’s time to experience a different type of cheese fondue. Yes, the Swiss never stop dreaming up new ways to enjoy their local delicacies. This time, instead of using a fondue setup, you will need what’s called a Raclette machine. The metal machine is circular, with space to slide in a tray.
But what cheese should you use? Well, to keep things simple and easy to remember, you should use Raclette. It’s a cheese found in the Wallis region of, you guessed it, Raclette. The cheese is easy to find around Switzerland as is commonly sold in pieces for easy melting.
After placing the Raclette in your tray and cooking it until the cheese begins to bubble, pour your melted goodness into a bowl of boiled potatoes. From there, enjoy with friends and family. Just like cheese fondue, Raclette is a popular communal pot used in the winter months.
Zurcher Geschnetzeltes
One of the best traditional Swiss dishes from the stunning city of Zurich is Zürcher Geschnetzeltes, also known as Zurich-style veal. The veal is first cut into thin strips and quickly sauteed among onions and butter.
Once that is complete, they combine the veal with beef stock, creamy white wine sauce and mushrooms. For seasoning at the end, locals with use a dash of lemon juice along with salt and pepper. For an additional kick, contemporary recipes may also feature paprika.
Although hearty on its own, the Zürcher Geschnetzeltes is commonly served with another traditional Swiss food, Rosti. While rice, pasta or mashed potatoes are other popular sides.
See the best of Zurich with our three-day itinerary.
Birchermüesli
Aside from cheese, Swiss food traditionally served at breakfast is the healthy and tasty Birchermuesli. Muesli itself is a big part of Swiss cuisine, with its roots found within the country. Birchermuesli, however, is the most popular version with a long past.
The muesli will change as your venture between regions, but the usual recipe is soaking your oats overnight in yogurt. The next day, you can add in fruit, nuts or anything that piques your interests. There is no hard and fast rule.
Polenta
On the other side of the Swiss Alps is the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino. Arguably the prettiest region in all of Switzerland, the lakes and soaring mountains are home to one of the most diverse Swiss foods, Polenta.
Polenta combines traditional Italian and Swiss cuisine and is ground corn with a similar texture to couscous. Just like Couscous, Polenta has many uses which will vary even within the region of Ticino. Two popular versions of Polenta couldn’t be more different, with one being soft and creamy and the other cubed and fried.
For the soft and creamy version of Polenta, simply mix the ground corn with water and spices over low heat. If you want a more substantial meal, you can add in Gorgonzola cheese, or even local sausages. Top it all off with a generous serving of parmesan.
Another stunning part of Switzerland is Grindelwald First. Read up on the top things to do!
What to Know about Traditional Swiss Food
With connections to Northern Italian cuisine along with traditional cooking in France and Germany, Swiss food varies greatly between regions. Owing also to its agricultural background, traditional Swiss cuisine tends to be made from basic ingredients.
The genuine joy in eating local food or trying along at home is the diversity of ideas and twists on typical recipes. Not to mention that the food is delicious and simple to make. Whether that be a homemade rosti or bringing out your fondue set to melt some tasty Gruyere.
Restaurants
Despite simple recipes, eating out in Switzerland can be expensive. While dining is usually restricted to a lunch (12pm-2pm) and dinner section (6pm-10pm). Between those times, snacks and basic foods make up the bulk of your options.
A great way to experience local food if you are on a budget is to venture into your major local supermarket. Coop or Migros are common examples and offer a great alternative to restaurants.
Vegetarian Swiss Cuisine
Traveling through Switzerland as a vegetarian is easy, despite the prominence of smoked meats and sausages in traditional Swiss cuisine. Vegetarians will find menu alternatives and supermarkets serve a growing local vegetarian and vegan population.
When visiting Zurich, be sure to dine in at Hiltl, the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world having opened in 1898.
Final Thoughts
Cheese in all its forms may play a big role in Swiss cuisine, but there is more than enough to keep you excited throughout your travels. When you fall in love with Ticino’s Polenta, you’ll be able to try the Germanic version as you travel further north. The same goes for Zürcher Geschnetzeltes.
Then there’s the famed Saffron Risotto which is hard to replicate, but nonetheless, a must-try dish. As you dine out in the mesmerizing valleys or on the cobblestone city streets, you may wander which Swiss food you’d love to try at home.
The strength of Swiss cuisine is both in the taste and simplicity, with something as simple as melted cheese bringing together friends and family. This is all to say, that even when your travels to Switzerland end, you’ll have a great time recreating your culinary memories at home.

After suffering through a horrible public breakup, when her husband threw her over for Angie, poor Jennifer suffered even further indignation when she was raked over the coals for not giving Brad a baby, and vicious accusations began that it was her outright refusal to have a family that started their breakup and that made Jen furious, saying a man divorcing would never be accused of choosing career over family and she's never in her life said she didn't want to have children, and she did and she does want children and she will have them and the women who inspire her are the ones who have careers and children and she's always wanted to have children, and she would never give up that experience for a career and she wants to have it all -- in 2004, while Jennifer was finishing up with the ten-year run of her hit TV show Friends and Brad was doing the flick Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Jen was telling pals the time was finally right, and they were in a good place, ready to start a family and they were even preparing their home for a child by adding a playroom and a room for a nanny and they were definitely planning on having a kid but the plans were blown up when Mr. and Mrs. Smith was completed, and Brad left Jennifer for his co-star Angie, who already had a toddler and when she fell wildly in love with Brad, he also fell into the ready-made family and it turned out he liked being a dad so much, the couple have five more, three biological and two more adopted -- by the time Jennifer married Justin Theroux in 2015 and divorced two years later without a baby, she admitted that starting a family was a frightening prospect and that she had no regrets about her two marriages or remaining childless and she doesn't feel a void and her marriages have been very successful in her personal opinion, and she's sick of being beat up about it, saying there is a pressure on women to be mothers, and if they are not, then they're deemed damaged goods and maybe her purpose on this planet isn't to procreate; maybe she has other things she's supposed to do
Page 14: Dear Tony, America's Top Psychic Healer -- lying and dishonesty bring trouble to our world
Page 15: Sharon Stone starred in Basic Instinct and Casino and her life seemed to be glamorous, but behind the scenes it was a different story -- Sharon recently released her new memoir, in which she recalls the sexual abuse she and her sister Karen suffered as children and their mother's failure to protect them
Page 16: The shocking day Barry Manilow first discovered he had the heart condition AFib, he was alone and acted quickly to save his own life -- he was driving home and he felt his heart skip a beat, which doesn't sound like anything serious, so he didn't pay much attention to it and then it went blump-bla-bla-blump and it got crazier and crazier and he felt like there was a fish flopping around in his chest and it calmed down for a while, but later as he was watching TV, it started up again so he dialed his doctor, told him the problem and blurted what is this? He did what he was told and drove himself to the medical center in a panic to find out what was wrong with him and put a stop to it fast -- that first time was 25 years ago, but AFib is a lifetime problem that has to be monitored and battled consistently
Page 18: Here's some good news for fans of Don Johnson -- the actor says he's bringing one of his most beloved characters back to the small screen: Inspector Nash Bridges -- he confirmed during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that's he's currently prepping a revival of the show that ran for six seasons from 1996 to 2000 and he said they're in heavy prep for a reboot of Nash Bridges and it's Nash some years later and Cheech Marin is going to come back, and Jeff Perry, and they've got a pretty exciting show that they're prepping in San Francisco right now
Page 19: Shaquille O'Neal was spreading the love when he overheard a man making a payment on his girlfriend's engagement ring and stepped in to buy it himself -- the generous moment took place in an Atlanta jewelry store, where Shaq says he just happened to be shopping for earrings and overheard the young kid, a hard-working guy asking to make a layaway payment on the ring and that's when Shaq said tell your girlfriend he's got it and promptly handed over his credit card and at first, the shocked guy tried to turn down the offer, but Shaq wouldn't hear of it -- Shaq said he's just trying to make people smile and the random acts of kindness make him happy

Page 26: When Irwin Allen's production of The Towering Inferno was released to stunned audiences in 1974, it represented the pinnacle disaster film and it was far and away the highest-grossing film of the year, with a whopping $203 million worldwide -- The Towering Inferno takes place on the opening night at the world's tallest skyscraper, where faulty wiring short-circuits start a fast-moving, out-of-control blaze that threatens the guests at the opening party on one of the top floors and to the rescue comes superstar Steve McQueen as larger-than-life Fire Chief Mike O'Hallorhan, and none other than the legendary Paul Newman as architect Doug Roberts -- here are some startling secrets from the flick: McQueen, Newman and William Holden all wanted top billing and Holden was turned down as McQueen and Newman had both become bigger stars so to provide dual top billing to both McQueen and Newman the credit were arranged diagonally with McQueen in the lower left and Newman in the upper right; Newman later regretted his decision to co-star with McQueen because of the rivalry between the two, created by Steve and as a result, the fireman role dominates Newman's architect; at McQueen's insistence, both characters have the same number of lines although McQueen's character doesn't appear until 43 minutes into the film and as a result, Newman had used almost half his lines before McQueen even enters; after seeing this film, novelist Roderick Thorp had a dream that same night about a man being chased through a skyscraper by gun-wielding assailants and this was the inspiration for his 1979 book Nothing Lasts Forever which eventually was made into another blockbuster film: Die Hard

8 THINGS I LOVED IN FEBRUARY Ah, the shortest month of the year. February always feels like a trick somehow, as I miss those extra days. Its all in my head probably, but as my schedule for March is looking full up to the last week already, I cant help but think that its thanks to those missing days the month before. Last month, I talked about the time off I had to begin the year, which if you missed it, can be found back here. Of course, taking time off tends to mean that the weeks before and after are pretty full to preempt and play catch up. Such was the case (mostly) for me this month. Without further ado the eight things I loved in February. THE GYM: Okay, so, while this was on my list last month too, during February I have hit more of a stride with my workout routine. Ive been making it to the gym on average four times a week with an extra two days working out at home. The natural progression has meant I am overall feeling stronger again plus more body confident. Rather than just work on HIIT or strength training Ive been making sure to include more cardio focus and doing longer cardio. This is, in turn, helping me to break up my days usually spent at my desk (aka sitting too long). Plus Ive been mostly finding myself more exhausted and better able to sleep. THE BEAUTY CHEF COOKBOOK: Ive used the Beauty Chef Glow Powder for years. While I have just run out of it again, it always helps balance out my gut health. Last year I also had the pleasure of meeting Carla Oates, the beauty chef herself which prompted me to order her cookbook. Fast forward a few months where Id only cooked a couple of the recipes. Classic! This month, both Mario and I sat down to each read the intro and began to cook more from the book. Actually, Mario has made a lot of incredible meals during February and gotten more fermented things going in our kitchen. Its been so good for both of us to be on the same page in relation to the way we want to eat. Not just me trying to force feed him salads every day, or Mario force feed me carb or meat dishes. Coming to a balance and incorporating more biofermented foods is slowly making a big difference.

BEAUTY: I have SOOOO many new beauty products I am excited to share with you. I said last month Id just filmed a lengthy video going through them but I am so annoyed with the sound quality that I am going to have to re-film after I buy a directional mic. Next time I will break it up a bit more- either into skin /hair/makeup or simply Sephora and Mecca buys videos. Shorter is better! Off the top of my head, or in front of me on my desk, I am obsessed with the Jo Malone London Bronze Wood & Leather Cologne and the Gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara from Tarte. Actually, and the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush. So good! READING: Im ultimately covering a bunch of the same topics here in my favourites as I did last month, but to be honest, most of the time I am slowly making my way through variations of key things that work for me. Reading is one of them. This month I read Wundersmith the second novel in the Nevermoor kids fantasy book series by Jessica Townsend. Last year I had my friend Chloe come to stay with us who gifted me a signed copy of the first book. Jessica is one of her oldest friends so I was excited to read it. While the series is too young for me, its been nice to escape into a fantasy book at the end of the night and not think about what I have to do the next day. Ive also been gifting the books to kids we know in the right age group. Now Im onto reading The Princess Bride at last after watching the movie again recently. I love it!

ARM PARTY At least, I think you still call it an arm party! What I am talking about is layering various gold bangles, bracelets, and chains. Ive just been lucky to get in two beautiful new additions (this one and this one) from my favourites at Astley Clarke. These arrived yesterday so I will shoot pics to share later this week. I just love having these layers as a little something extra, given I largely wear a pretty basic tee and jeans or tee and skirt outfits. BEADED BAGS Well, as you might have seen, I dedicated a whole blog post to my love of beaded bags, so check it out here. It had to make my February loves list! CHECK PRINTS I am still loving check prints, so there is really nothing new there. Yesterday I just ordered two new check print pieces from the Shopbop sale (my breakdown of the best of sale is up here now). Naturally, I cannot wait for them to arrive and get shooting some pics! Already I am planning how Ill style them for the upcoming seasons. Stay tuned. BEING ORGANISED Since Ive been home all month, it has felt so good to be back into a daily routine and being organised. It has meant I know what projects I am working on when, the deadlines, publishing dates and have easily scheduled around that. What does this mean overall? The more planned I am, the better I am able to create stories that arent all the same and ultimately can inspire you guys. And thats enough from me this month. I hope you all had a great February. Please leave me a comment with something you loved this month below. Looking forward to reading them! Oh and any requests for March? Beauty looks? Outfits styles? Open to requests!
