this might be problematic, but back when i was a “pretty little lady” (read: closeted trans man) traipsing around the rural south, i would openly fuck with the men who assumed that i must have lipstick for brains. i reserved this tactic for the turbo misogynistic “women should bleed on the birthing bed” types. like. if one of those nasty motherfuckers started to overexplain something ludicrously simple to me, i’d keep saying, “oh really? what does THAT mean?” until they realized i was full of shit. my crowning achievement is that i once conned a baptist into explaining that books have chapters

Sam and Dean sat at a table in the corner of the diner. They’d arrived to town earlier today and interviewed a few people about the weird deaths throughout the town. The two decided to stop for food and Dean knew this diner had the best burger and pie here. Sam sat across from Dean typing away on his laptop, researching the history of the town. Dean sipped on his milkshake, a mouth full of food, “Have you found anything?”
Sam shook his head, looking at his older brother and giving him a look of disgust, “No. Nothing out of the ordinary. It’s weird, really.”
Dean had already zoned out and was wiping his face, his focus on a certain woman walking through the door. It couldn’t be you. What are the chances that he’d see you again? It’d been 2 years since he’d seen you. Since the day he broke your heart.
You and Dean met years ago while you were at college. He and Sam had been on a hunt and stopped in the bar where you worked at the time. You two had hit it off and you quickly fell for the bad boy. You were close to graduating, only a few months away. Dean left his number and told you to call him when you graduated. So, of course you did. He eventually came clean about what him and Sam did for a living. You weren’t at all scared, intrigued really. So, when he asked you to tag along with him and Sam, you didn’t think twice. You tagged along with the brothers on hunts around the country for 2 years.
However, things took a turn for the worst. You were ready to settle down, ready to stop hunting and get married. You wanted a house and kids and this running around city after city living in motels was not the life you wanted anymore. You knew Dean loved you, he told you every day. But he wasn’t ready for that “apple pie life.” It broke your heart but you gathered your things from that motel and hopped on a bus, never to be seen again.
Dean knew he’d screwed up when he lost you. Sam lectured him for months about it. He’d lost the best thing that had ever happened to him. And here two years later in a small diner in the middle of this small town, you walk in. As if the universe is giving him a second chance.
After you two broke up, he tried to contact you, but you’d changed your number and he wasn’t able to find you again. He gave up trying after 6 months of searching where you could have gone.
His face falls when he sees the man trailing behind you, his arm going around your waist to lead you to a table. He knows you’re not his anymore, but seeing another man’s hand on you makes his blood boil. He glares a little when he sits across from you. If he really knew you, he’d know you liked to sit on the same side of the booth. At least that’s the way it was with him.
“Dean? Are you even listening?” Sam asks, snapping his fingers.
Deans eyes are pulled away from you and looks at his little brother, “Yeah, Sammy I’m listening.” He takes a bite of his fry as Sam looks at Dean skeptically.
“Who are you-” Sam turns around to look at the diner, seeing who had his brother’s attention, when he hears a familiar laugh. He narrows his eyes at the woman, seeing if it’s who he thinks it is. “Holy shit.”
“She’s with another guy.” Dean mumbles, sipping his milkshake, jealousy boiling inside him. That should be him sitting with you. He should have never let you go. And now here you are with another man right in front of him.
“Well, Dean, it has been 2 years. You had to know she’d move on by now.” He says, popping a fry into his mouth.
“I’m going to go talk to her.” Dean says, starting to slide out of the booth, Sam quickly stops him.
“Dean, it looks like she’s on a date. Come on dude, don’t bother her.” Dean shakes his brother arm off.
“I’m just going to say hi.” Dean smirks a little before walking your way. Sam groans before getting his things together and dropping cash on the table for the bill.
“Well, I’ll be damned.”
You internally cuss. You’d recognize that raspy voice anywhere. You look up at him, nothing about hims changed. Except that he’s maybe gotten sexier. of course he did. He’s still got the piercing green eyes that you fell in love with. That you’re still in love with. “Dean Winchester.”
He gives you a smirk, “In the flesh.”
You glance at your date, “Gavin, this is Dean... an old friend.”
“Oh baby, i think we were more than friends.” He chuckles, looking at Gavin, “If you know what I mean.” He gives him a wink. You blush at his comment.
Gavin clears his throat and offers his hand to shake, “Gavin. Nice to meet you Dean.”
Dean glances at his hand before taking it, “Yeah you too.”
Sam walks up behind Dean, and you smile, “Sam.” You can’t help but stand and hug him. Even though it ended ugly between you and Dean, you’d kept in touch with Sam.
“Hey, y/n” He gives you a little squeeze. Dean narrows his eyes at Sam and then at you, “I didn’t get a hug.”
You step back from Sam and roll your eyes before giving in and giving Dean a hug. The smell bringing back old feelings and memories you thought you had put away.
“He’s not good enough for you.” He whispers in your hair. You pull away and he gives a small smile and then looks at Gavin, “Sammy and I better get going. You two have a good night.”
Sam gives a small wave goodbye before following his brother out the door to the impala.
“I’ll be right back.” You tell Gavin before following the brothers out the door. You head to the driver’s side of the impala and lean in the window, “I’m working at the bar down the road tonight. Come by for a round of drinks. On me?” You look between the brothers.
“You know I can’t turn down a free drink.” Dean says, starting up the impala.
You nod, “I know. By the way, he’s gay.” You tap your hands on the window, solely looking at Dean, you give him a smirk before pulling away from the window and walking back inside.
Dean watches you sway your hips as you walk back inside, relieved that you weren’t on a date. Maybe he can get a second chance.
