ofc! i've been thinking about it a lot!

i would like to begin by saying that, as with canon, everyone likes Wally. as they should! i think that's an Important tidbit that should always carry across, at least in some way

Wally is... i think it's also important that he's a kind person. he loves deeply, is very forgiving and accepting, and he's just. he's a bizarre little man, and he's wonderful! there is not a malicious bone in his body! he finds delight & beauty in everything he can. he looks at his friends and is filled with deep contentment and joy and love. he's not blind to their flaws (and certainly not his own), but he never minds. those flaws are part of his friends, and he loves every bit of them!

and ok. Wally is not nearly as naive in this au as he is in canon. bc he's had a different life! he's had a rough go of it! unfortunately there's next to no way for normal people to grow up completely innocent & naive & pure, yk? life is harsh. Wally is not spared. he's incredibly kind despite it all. he's still in love with life and humanity. he smiles at strangers in the street & stops to watch bees pollinate flowers & sees parts of his friends in everything. he has many intense feelings even if he doesn't really show it or know how to convey them! he believes in the inherent goodness of people & beauty of being human!

there is a... very wide range of how people (outside of the Neighbors) view Wally. a lot of people find him slightly unsettling and really fucking weird, and well. he is! he's strange, and it's a wonderful part of him! but many don't see it that way. so he was ostracized by his peers in school (all the way through college), his coworkers (the few times he held a job before becoming a full-time artist), and most people in his local community. they just don't get him. they don't See him. Wally doesn't mind all that much! all of the important people in his life accept and love him for who he is, and he wouldn't even think of changing to fit the mold others want to shove him into.

then of course there are the people who treat him like a child, bc ableism is a thing and Wally's very noticeably autistic (even if people only notice subconsciously). this i think would be one of the very few things that outright annoys Wally, even if he doesn't really show it. but then there's the people who, while they might not get him (especially not to the extent his friends do), they accept him. like much of the art community he's involved in - even if a lot of them completely misinterpret his personality / mannerisms. they're all like "ohhhh he's so mysterious and ruminant" that's the 'tism, babes

BUT! YOU ASKED ABOUT SPECIFICALLY HIM AND THE NEIGHBORS! we'll save Barnaby for last since that's. uh. i have a lot to say about it. it's Very Complex in my mind

collectively, all of them love Wally a lot. which i've said! We Know! they also (mostly subconsciously) look for his approval - he's got a certain level of charisma that makes them all want him to like them. which, he does. obviously. unconditionally. and they're all protective of him & very patient with him. i think that's both a result of his natural rizz, how kind & patient he is with them, how well they understand him, and how he's a pacifist. he's their guy and woe befall anyone who dares cross him. (essentially, all of them collectively: the only constant is suffering - omg Wally!!! 💖💖💖)

we'll start with Frank! before he got to know Wally, he thought that Wally was an aloof asshole who thought he was better than everyone. then they started to directly interact and Frank realized "oh you're literally the nicest person i've ever met & also surprisingly relatable. you're just like me fr'. did he have a lil crush on Wally? yes. im saying it now literally everyone in the friend group (except local lesbians poppy & sally) has had at least a teensy crush on Wally at some point. but Frank deeply appreciates Wally's company & his complete lack of judgement. and how he gladly will let Frank talk for hours on end, chiming in with questions to prompt him to talk more! he also appreciates Wally's calm demeanor and vibes. he's one of those people that even when overwhelmed, Frank can handle having Wally around. he's like a human capybara! if Frank needs/wants a buddy with him for Situations, his go-to (after Julie ofc, though depending on the situation he'd pick Wally first) is Wally, since Wally Gets It. also Wally is unafraid to be like "wow, this kinda sucks! we're leaving", thus giving Frank an easy out. they just get along very well! ofc Frank can get frustrated with Wally, but then again he gets frustrated w/ everyone. but since Wally is patient with him, Frank tries to return the favor. also he's gotten into several fistfights over Wally's honor

Julie! she loves Wally so fucking much! he's her lil guy! even if he's kinda boring in a way! he's not very good at games or sports & would rather go on a relaxing walk than play Just Dance, but hey! he always makes Attempts, and she appreciates that! when they were younger and Julie & Sally & Poppy had girls nights (they continue to have girls' nights but everyone is involved. they still call it that tho), they'd often include Wally bc, yk! he's chill like that! Julie also massively respects his ability to say "no thank you" to anything without compromise. if he ever says it to her, she knows that he doesn't mean Any ill will by it! there's a sort of comfort in that! she knows she can be herself around him! also he's just... very good company. he's a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold, a willing victim & confidante for elaborate schemes! he visits her at work Purely because he knows it delights her to see a friendly face in the middle of a grueling shift! he's always been a bit of a lighthouse to her!

and while Sally can be a little exasperated with how literal Wally is, she finds no small amount of solidarity with him As A Fellow Artist. when they first became friends, they caught on like a house on fire! she mentioned the artistic side of theater, and Wally was immediately on board. then and going forward Wally is always willing and more than happy to assist with painting sets, art advertisements for her performances, etc! they have little brainstorming sessions where she rambles about what she wants sets / costumes to look like, and Wally sketches them out! since Sally was a theater kid and goes on to work in that department (locally, usually), Wally often gets first read of her scripts. Sally highly values Wally's opinion and input. if he's free, sometimes he helps teach the actors' the show choreography. Sally runs through it with him, Wally soaks up the moves like a sponge & memorizes them, and hey! he loves to teach! Sally just. she loves him a lot. they're both artists of a sophisticated nature <3

Howdy thinks Wally is real neat! Wally is good company and is (often unintentionally) hilarious! he's also like... the one person Howdy refuses to scam in any way shape or form. tricking grandmas into buying more than they need? no sweat. tricking Wally into spending slightly more money than intended? Howdy feels like a fucking monster. but yeah, Howdy's just always delighted to see Wally! he likes Wally's unique view of the world and often takes it into consideration when making decisions. when he's stuck on something, he thinks WWWD (what would Wally do!). Howdy also is the one who most often accompanies Wally to his art shows & the like, bc he knows that Wally will accept the first price offer he hears - and Howdy is determined that his incredible works of art are paid for their worth! nobody is gotta cheat his pal outta a single cent! he just likes having Wally around, you know?

Wally & Poppy have an interesting relationship, i think! he tells the cashier "she asked for no pickles" for her! she makes sure he always has a soft place to land! he kinda confuses her, but she finds it endearing in a way? he displays a personality/behavioral quirk and she's like "oh. well alright!" and rolls with it very gracefully. they appreciate each other's mellow demeanor and proclivity for peace. Poppy knows she can always have a nice, quiet conversation with him over tea (even if he doesn't drink it!). and he's always willing to help with anything and everything she needs, no question. i think i've made this joke on this blog before but! in way! he's her emotional support animal lmao. a hand to squeeze to death on an airplane! also it's funny for me to picture a 6'8 woman hunched behind this 5'2 shrimp of a man as if he can hide her

it takes a little bit for Eddie to adjust to Wally's bizarre nature! like i've said, Eddie connects with the group when they're all in their late 20s. he hasn't had over a decade of being friends with Wally like the rest of them. he likes Wally plenty! definitely grows to love him! but it's an adjustment. Wally consistently startles him very easily (Wally is naturally quiet and has a habit of appearing out of nowhere), and Eddie has a hard time getting a read on him. most people do! and also Wally is very handsome/pretty, and that throws Eddie off a bit (it's hard to think when someone so attractive is staring directly into your eyes without blinking) but once he gets somewhat used to Wally & understands as much as he can, he very much appreciates Wally's company & friendship! they find (somewhat subconscious) solidarity in being the kindest and most helpful people in the clique! and Wally is a wonderful island of peace in a turbulent world. Eddie never minds sitting with him for a cup of coffee in the early morning during his route, even if it means his workday ends a few minutes later than usual.

other supporting cast like Wally as well. Ms. Beagle kinda views him as a second son! the Joyful siblings will always find him a little weird and unsettling, but they're nice enough to him. Howdy's family thinks he's neat. etc! but lets talk about Barnaby!

Wally is literally everything to Barnaby. that's his person. there is literally no one that comes before Wally in his eyes and heart. their relationship is and always has been very nontraditional To Me (in this au and somewhat how i view them overall! its complicated!). Wally never subscribed to or understood societal norms, and as a result, Barnaby wound up pretty much shunning them as well when it comes to his lil buddy. their relationship isn't romantic - Wally is very aro and Barnaby just does not feel that way about him, not really. but at the same time it's certainly not entirely platonic!

neither of them can imagine being separated. they met in 7th grade and have been glued together ever since. they've been through some tough shit together! they know each other better than anyone! you cannot have one without the other! they're more than a package deal - they're Inseparable! Barnaby has had many a nightmare of Wally leaving in one way or another, and it scares him more than anything. to him, he can weather any storm as long as Wally is by his side. they obviously don't spend every moment together, but at the end of the day they always come home to each other.

Barnaby just... he loves and respects and values Wally so much. he wants his approval, his attention, his company. sometimes he scares himself by considering the lengths he'd go to for Wally. there is no one he's more comfortable with or feels he understands / is understood by. if somebody has a problem with Wally, they have a problem with Barnaby. if Wally jumped off a cliff, Barnaby would not hesitate to leap after him! Wally says jump, Barnaby asks how high! he's not a violent person at all, but teen Barnaby once broke a bully's jaw for goin' a little too far w/ Wally

is their relationship a smidge unhealthy? a lil codependent? yes <3 yes it is <3 but we all know that Wally would never use this against Barnaby. on his side of the coin, Barnaby is his person as well! Wally has never imagined his life without Barnaby because it just does not occur to him that that's a possibility. there are many things that only Barnaby knows about Wally, sides only he's seen. there's complete & unconditional trust/love between them. they hotbox Home together <3

Okay but imagine if the reader got transport in the welcome home universe but they're body remain the same (flesh and blood) and if the cast yandere too? Oh, the chaos!

I like to imagine that it would cause a heavy conflict for all them (the puppets) since the reader aren't not like them and they sure don't know how the human body work ( i mean they literally just stuff of cottons and fabric) . But they'll try.

I also had a feeling that this would be the headstart of they're obsession since 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 was always the first move to disaster.

Take wally here for example! It's canon that he eat with his eyes close, so seeing the reader put the apple into their mouth then 'bite' into it?- ( im assuming they don't know the concept of eating/chewing since they dont have teeth. despite having a edible food in they're world ) wally would 'unententionally' hover around the reader from time to time everytime they try to 'eat' something. he's just curious okay! Can you blame him that your way of food was different/fascinating? W̶h̶i̶c̶h ̶̶i̶̶s ̶a̶ ̶̶ha̶l̶f ̶l̶i̶e ̶i̶f ̶h̶e ̶d̶o̶n̶'̶t ̶u̶s̶e ̶t̶h̶i̶s ̶e̶x̶c̶u̶s̶e ̶j̶u̶s̶t ̶t̶o ̶b̶e a̶̶r̶̶ou̶n̶d ̶t̶h̶e ̶r̶ea̶̶d̶e̶ ̶b̶u̶t ̶s̶h̶u̶s̶h̶.

We also have this scenario with reader having five fingers/nails. I feel like this would fit more for howdy or Barnaby, cause A your just like howdy, but with many fingers! You could definetly make a big help in his shop o̶r ̶s̶o ̶h̶e ̶sa̶̶y̶s̶ and B you could give barnaby one of the best scratches! Which may or may not lead to you getting dump in the floor with a giant dog laying on top of you

But anyway this is just a thought i would like to share after seeing a post in wh x reader in my feed. ˡᵒᵒᵏ ᵃᵗ ᵐʸ ʳᵉᵇˡᵒᵍ The other remain cast can be on your part if you also would like to share your opinion on this dump!

The Reader gets essentially isekaied to the WH world/WH cast gets isekaied to our world are arguably my favorite kind of WH fics (of which is very odd for me cause I usually don't like isekai fics/stories in general)

I definitely agree that none of them have any clue about how our body works, I doubt any of them have a biology book about human anatomy so whenever we mention/talk about bones, muscle tissue or blood vessels they won't understand what on earth we're saying. I can't recall if it's canon that Wally just likes to stare a lot or if it's more of a fanon thing, but if it is true then I can only imagine how y/n feels whenever he's around. Wally is, just like his last name, a darling to be around but those eyes, you'd swear he knows all your regrets & bad life choices & somehow feeling his stare on you but not knowing where exactly he is whether you snack on a jibarito or an apple, you'll just feel this heavy weight on your shoulders & be beyond nervous &/or anxious like-

With the whole we have an extra finger thing, while I can certainly see it fitting Howdy & Barnaby, assisting Howdy with his shop & giving us amazing hugs because of his extra arms & Barnaby receiving undoubtedly the best scratches he's ever had in his life, like what on earth? Where have you been his whole life? Though I can see this also applying to Julie. Oh how she'd love to paint our nails! Though since none of them have fingernails, the closest ya'll can get is using actual paint, but yeah! A fun bonding activity! & not to mention how she'll talk about how soft/rough what we call "skin" is! Also, I bet you Barnaby would do the whole comparing hands thing & tease our small ours are compared to his large paws that seem like they could engulf your hold face.

Ngl, we I started reading this, my mind went immediately to Frank & his fascination & obsession with us, especially the whole us being human & not made of cotton & fabric. Like imagine him (or anyone else) asking us about literally anything about us & you turn to look at Frank & he's just standing/sitting there with a notebook & pen in hand writing frantically what we said & staring at us waiting to answer someone's question.

Sally would almost never leave our side & is practically, alongside Julie & Wally, asking the most questions about us. But can you really blame her? You're practically out of this world! Just like her Though I do warn, she'll practically demand your attention, I mean, she is a star after all! Both literally & figuratively.

Poppy, while remaining as polite as ever, would maybe be a bit shy to properly talk to us while also simultaneously worrying for our wellbeing, but don't worry! She made you her her signature muffins as a gift! How sweet of her! & she'll get less shy the more time we spend with her & if you let her, she'll before than happy to knit you something!

I feel like Eddie would hand you letters written by either him or Wally other neighbors as you'd be, naturally confused if you suddenly appeared here with no memory on how you got here or if there's a way to get out, But why would you wish to go back? This neighborhood is practically perfect!. When he first mentioned having delivered mail in other areas before, it'd bring you much joy & hope, a way back home? Yes please! But would quickly realize he has some issues remembering it correctly, but he tries his best!

You were so fragile! So very shiny! You were quite the adorable looking china doll! How would the puppet neighbors, made of felt and stuffing, treat such a unique neighbor?

Wally Darling

“You’re very shiny…”

Wally would be absolutely enamored! He’d love how shiny your skin is and how it just shines when underneath the bright neighborhood sun.

“Clink, clink..."

He'd love how cool your skin is to the touch, too! He'd be leaning on you during warm days because of how nice and cool your porcelain feels!

Barnaby Beagle

"Careful now, neighbor!"

Oh, the jokes he'd make related to your fragile china! He could come up with all the best dad jokes and he'd absolutely love to see your reactions to them!

"I get a crack outta you, neighbor!"

The moment he makes a joke about any cracks, he'd very quickly take it back out of worry it might have offended you in some way. Especially if you had cracked a part of your porcelain skin! It's all in good fun though, he really doesn't mean to make fun of you!

Eddie Dear

"Whoa there! 'Scuse me!"

A lot of the neighbors would feel quite nervous when you're with Eddie. Seeing as he is the clumsiest fella around! They get worried he might trip and fall on you, causing a crack or even worse! Little do they know, he's actually one of the most gentle puppets when it comes to you!

"Did I hurt ya?? Did anythin' break!?"

He'd get very nervous and worried himself if he accidentally bumps into you. Poor Eddie! He'd always be making sure you're alright, making sure everything is all smooth and nothing's chipped or cracked!

Frank Frankly

"Hmm..."

Frank would be ever so curious! You stand out so much compared to the other more felt-y puppets, especially when your skin would clink every time you clap your hands or accidentally stumble a bit. They'd be so interested and curious about you!

"When your skin cracks or chips... How do you even repair that??"

Only really used to the puppets being sown together, They'd get anxious about you getting any sort of injury, seeing as it seems there is no actual way to get you all better! They're quite fond of you though, they would love to take you out butterfly gazing with them from time to time!

Julie Joyful

"You're sooo pretty looking!"

She absolutely adores your design! And she especially loves the smooth feel of your skin compared to the way her felt kind feels. Julie would not hesitate to dress you up in all kinds of lovely outfits!

"These colors would look so, so good on you!"

Now, of course, Frank has to remind her from time to time to be more careful with you since she does tend to get a little too excited sometimes and her games might be a little too rough for you. She'd be trying her best! She just wants to have fun and play with you!... Safely!

Howdy Pillar

"Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes?"

Howdy, being much much taller than you, would take extra precaution around you! He wouldn't want to accidentally hurt you in any way! He's especially quite curious about what you are exactly... Were you still a puppet? Or just a doll?

"You're real something, aren't you, neighbor?"

He actually likes the little clinks that come from you when you walk around, he thinks of it as your little calling sound! A little announcement that states your presence. It's just a neat little way for everyone to know where you are!

Sally Starlet

"Neighbor! You're so shiny!"

She'd think of you as a star! She loves how shiny you are underneath any kind of light, she'd love shining your glassy skin and admiring the smooth texture.

"Now we're both shining stars!"

Sally would absolutely love to be close to you and she'd feel just so comfortable with you! She's very careful around you though, especially when she'd wrap her arm around yours. She enjoys dancing with you underneath the stars in the evening, even more so when your friends join along!

Poppy Partridge

"Oh, dear! Please be careful!"

The poor Poppy! She'd be ever so worried about you all the time! Poppy would constantly be looking out for you and making sure you're okay. If you live next to her, she'd occasionally come by with some fresh baked cookies and give you a small check up to make sure everything is okay.

"Oh, goodness. Oh, dear! You're elbow has a chip!"

She'd get so panicked and concerned when something gets chipped or cracked, but she'd learned just how to fix you up! Poppy would keep it in her little med-kit and would often purchase the strong glue from Howdy, she'd be so very careful when fixing all the little cracks and chips!

i don't know what order to start Dissecting, so i'll just start with:

it's absolutely fascinating how the dynamic Wally & Barnaby had - to my knowledge - before the update, and a dynamic i'd seen speculated elsewhere and generally accepted, has been completed turned on its head

see, given that Wally is the "main character" and Barnaby is classified as "his best friend", i got the feeling that Barnaby kind of... tags along on Wally's 'shenanigans'. that he's the sidekick, the best friend. especially since their dynamic has been previously & briefly described as "Barnaby is very polite to Wally." he's the Companion.

but the audios sorta paint a reverse picture. in the Interview, when Barnaby enters stage right, he completely bowls over Wally's introduction and dominates the interview. when the interviewer asks how the two of them are handling the fame, even outright asking Wally, Barnaby doesn't hesitate to answer the question himself, and only about himself. Wally doesn't get another word in edge-wise until the interviewer explicitly singles Wally out.

(now, an argument could be made that Barnaby knew that Wally was somewhat overwhelmed with all of the questions, and tried to take the reins to give him a reprieve. but, considering that the interview seems to be very early on the possible timeline - like, very soon after Welcome Home debuted - i don't think this is likely. i doubt Barnaby and Wally would've had the time to solidify their dynamic or really get to know each other that well yet)

and Barnaby continues to take point in pretty much all of their other conversations, too. like in the mystery Howdy/Barnaby/Wally audio, their interaction gives off the vibes that Wally is Barnaby's sidekick, his tag-along.

(on a related tangent, it's fascinating how the website described the episodes as "[beginning] with Wally introducing the focus or theme for the day before coming across other characters who would join him on his escapades until the end of the day." but from pretty much everything we've seen so far, it seems like He's the one who's just along for the ride, bouncing from neighbor shenanigan to neighbor shenanigan instead of having his own adventures.

of course, if the 14 audios are present time, which is honestly somewhat likely, this could be because the show isn't running. they aren't doing episodes - they're just existing, doing their things. no need for Wally to take point in any way shape or form. tangent over)

in the 14 audios with Barnaby, he doesn't even acknowledge Wally until the very end - which, of course, could be because that's how the scenes are set up. except that in some of them, the characters do directly acknowledge Wally's presence outside of the endings. Eddie in 5-14, Howdy and Poppy in 1-14, and Frank in 4-14 (technically, since he was infodumping to Wally at the very start before Barnaby interrupted). you'd think that a guy would try to include his best friend a little more!

maybe i'm reading into it too much. & given what we know about Wally as a character, it would make sense for Barnaby to be the go-getter Main Guy of the two. but it really seems like its Barnaby & Wally instead of Wally & Barnaby. he's just kinda... there. going along with whatever Barnaby is up to.

but also, on the other side of things - & it's occurring to me as i type this, it's interesting how in a lot of audios, Barnaby seems to seek Wally out. in "Just So", he shows up to fetch Wally. in 4-14, Barnaby interrupts Frank and Wally's gardening session, almost as if he's stopping by to check on his little buddy. in 7-14, Barnaby calls Julie's house (presumably) searching for Wally, or at least checking in once again. something to consider in all of this!

#and if the 14 audios are in the same day along a timeline - which they Are. im trying to puzzle it out rn but anyway -#its interesting how barnaby just kept. checkin. in.#they had three audios where they were already hanging out and then got two (technically three) more where barnaby checked in!#it feels like there's something there...#separation anxiety? a compulsion? love for his buddy? a secret fourth thing?#maybe he could tell something was Off with wally that day...#(which is a topic i will ramble about in a different post)#its a push & pull to be certain....#but yeah that plus all the evidence of Barnaby kinda being the Lead and wally being brushed off to the side....#what a complicated fuckin picture it paints!!! dont know what it means yet!#i have another post im working on centering on how the neighbors seem to treat each other - wally & eddie especially #but this post aint about that. itll be related though #homebogging #wh speculation #please let this have made sense!#when i make posts i just kinda throw myself at it bc i have No organizational skills!#my brain is a complete incoherent mess and i am so sorry if this post is messy <3

looking very closely at the website neighborhood and here's some little things i noticed (plus some overthinking & flower symbolism):

~ the only butterflies on the "map" are the ones outside of Frank's house, and the single one outside of Eddie's.

~~ i think the flowers outside of Eddie's are either hyacinths or lavender. given that the flowers are different colors, they're probably hyacinths. which is a Fascinating choice to me, because hyacinths can symbolize regret, devotion (especially beyond death), love, forgiveness, and jealousy - depending on the flower color. Eddie has light blue, dark blue, and purple. The butterfly is landing on the purple one (sorrow, mourning, forgiveness, regret, devoted love).

~~ its also Fascinating because the myth behinds hyacinths is about the greek god Apollo and his (male) human lover, Hyacinthus. they were playing discus (metal frisbee). Apollo threw the discus too hard, and it bounced back and hit Hyacinthus, killing him. devastated, Apollo grew the hyacinth flower from Hyacinthus' spilled blood. SO THE FACT THAT EDDIE, GAY PUPPET EDDIE, HAS HYACINTH FLOWERS OUTSIDE THE POST OFFICE IS UM. INCH RESTING!

~~ (also also in the myth, Apollo wanted to rescind his immortality to join Hyacinthus in his death. and in an alternate version of the myth, Hyacinthus was technically murdered, because Zephyrus was jealous that Apollo preferred a mortal over him & purposefully blew the discus off course to strike Hyacinthus. things to think about. yes, in this whole myth metaphor im viewing Eddie as Hyacinthus and Frank as Apollo. do with this what you will)

~ All of the trees in the neighborhood are in the same general style, except for the tree outside of Sally's home, which is a pine tree. i wonder why!

~ the only buildings with second floors are Barnaby's, Frank's, Sally's, and Poppy's homes. rip the "wally falls down the stairs" memes

~ there's a teeny tiny Home in the post office display window

~ Julie's house has quite a lot of heart symbolism. like, a weird amount. an amount to the point where i now have an entire theory around what her role and arc might be. i Will talk about it with minimal prompting.

~ one of the swingset balloons has a happy face balloon with its eyes closed, which stands out to me (and fuels my julie theory)

~ the only neighbors who don't have flowers outside of their buildings are Sally, Julie (disregarding decoration), and Howdy.

~ Poppy has daffodils, which symbolize rebirth, new beginnings, resilience, and hope. however, they have a negative side of selfishness.

~ Barnaby has red, yellow, and blue tulips. red means undying love, admiration, and truth. yellow means "there's sunshine in your smile", joy, happiness, friendship - But it can also mean unrequited love or jealousy. Blue means individuality, trust, and good luck

~~ note that there's a dead/trampled white tulip. white tulips symbolize sorrow, "my condolences", apology, honor, purity, faith.

~ Frank has sunflowers, daisies, and some others, but those i think are more generic, unspecific flowers for added decoration. i couldn't find a "red flower on vine" that fits the general look of the ones on his house. now, sunflowers symbolize adoration, loyalty, longevity, happiness (also, might i add that these flowers are from another greek myth about apollo, this one where Apollo turns a jealous nymph into a sunflower for snitching on his mortal lover, which got her (the lover) killed. inch resting indeed.)

~~ also blue daisies, which i am assuming are the blue flowers outside his house, symbolize freedom, trust, loyalty, confidence, and honesty. lots of positivity surrounding Frank's house!

~ Wally has daisies. these symbolize innocence, purity, new beginnings, hope, and affection. it can also symbolize the ability to keep a secret. a fun fact i found interesting is the word daisy comes from an old english word meaning "day's eye."

~~ do i believe these flower choices were purposeful? maybe. probably. it does seem strange that there are specific, distinct flowers drawn in equally specific parts of the "map", while a couple of generic "cartoon" style flowers are sprinkled throughout

~ three green apples are growing on the tree next to Howdy's Place

~ it stands out to me that the bodega window above the fruit stands is completely blacked out. no window shine or nothing

~ Sally's "yard" is weirdly barren. everyone else's buildings (excluding Home) has several things decorating the surrounding area. all she has is a spotlight and a tree.

~ Barnaby's house having paint all over it (and a paintbrush & can next to it) is just cute to me. it makes me think that he wanted to paint like his lil' buddy Wally and just went ham with it. or it was a team effort between them<3

~ it took me a while to notice the tiny "Eddie's" painted above Post Office. it gives the vibe (to me) of him tacking on the "Eddie's" to make the office feel more like his. maybe he saw the sign "Howdy's Place" and decided to paint his name on his building to make himself feel more established and at home

~ there's something on / part of Frank's roof. i don't know what it is. if anyone has an idea please tell me its driving me insane. at first i thought it was a chimney but theres two? making an additional symmetrical structure? idk!!

~ there are only three buildings with straight up rainbows. Eddie's post office (hanging from the roof and in the window), Sally's house (the entire front), and Frank's house (butterfly on the door wreath. i almost didn't catch it, it's a sneaky one!)

I like to imagine this reader as taller than Howdy, Barnaby, and Poppy! I'd say they're around 9 to 10 or so feet! That's quite tall!

The reader is not quite like the others! Unbelievably tall, beautiful horns, and even a long tail! What an interesting neighbor to have!

Wally Darling

"Hello there neigh...bor... You're-... wow-..."

Poor little fella! He might as well break his back to look up at you if he had any bones! Your size compared to him was a bit humorous, he could just barely reach your knees! You thought he was quite adorable, especially with how puzzled he was by your form.

"You're very... tall..."

You don't really talk and he assumed that was because you were mute, so he'd do a lot of the talking for you! Between the both of you, Wally would usually be the more chatty one seeing as you were more of the quiet type.

"Come on, neighbor... There's some lovely apples over at Howdy's store... Would you like to join me?"

Barnaby Beagle

"Well- hello... there-!"

Your first appearance was... startling, to say the least. The guy would be in for quite a shock! Seeing as he's used to being one of the more taller puppets around the neighborhood. Admittedly, he'd be a little intimidated at first, especially since you're so quiet! It's a little hard to get you laughing at his jokes but when he does, he just feels so proud of himself!

"What's the matter, neighbor? Cat got your tail?"

He'd definitely be very chatty with you, he'd even practice a few jokes of his in front of you. Barnaby slowly warms up to you with time and even seeks comfort in you! You're quite the listener, after all!

"And you know what I said? "I hardly know her!" Haha!"

Eddie Dear

"Jumpin' Critters!"

It was definitely a shock for him when he first saw you, he hadn't even noticed you until he bumped right into you! Your appearance was definitely unique and he's never seen anything quite like it! Eddie would be very curious about your tail, he'd think it looks quite lovely!

"How's the, uh, weather up there, neighbor?”

He’d definitely struggle to make small talk with you, but Eddie would very quickly get over it when he realizes you’re not the chatty type! He’d ask all kinds of questions, even if you’d only nod or shake your head. Eddie would just love to get to know you more better!

“Wanna come deliver letters with me? It’ll help ya settle in!”

Frank Frankly

“Oh, my… goodness…”

They’d definitely feel intimidated at first, but they’d try their best now to show it. Frank would be most fascinated by your horns, they’d want to hold them and they especially like talking to you! They love how they could ramble and rant on and on and you’d listen to their every word!

“And so Julie runs up to me and dumps all these leaves all over me! It took me ages to get it all off!”

You and Frank would become quite close and they’d often go to you when they want to talk or ramble or even just make simple and even meaningless little conversations. They find comfort in your presence and are see you as a safe space, mostly because you’re quiet and only ever make a noise to alert people of your presence!

“Would you maybe want to learn about… Butterflies? They’re my favorite.”

Julie Joyful

“Oh, neighbor, you’re sooo taaaaall!!”

Julie would be absolutely wonderstruck by you. She’d get a little too excited and try climbing you since you remind her of a tree, but she’ll fail either because you place her back down or she slides her way to the floor. She’d think you’re quite spooky… But in a good way!

“I have these pretty little gold things! They’d look amazing on you!”

She would just love to decorate your horns with all kinds of fancy jewelry, only if you’d let her of course! She’d pair those with some nice earrings too if she can get her hands on some! The two of you would usually bond by playing some of her games (you would always win hide and seek!) or you’d pass the time listening to her go on and on while you play around with her hair!

“Let’s play I spy! Wait- no… I have a better game! It’s Let-Julie-Climb-Neighbor-Again!”

Howdy Pillar

“Welcome! There… Neigh… bor…”

Oh Howdy is in for quite the shock! He’s so used to being one of the most tallest neighbors in the neighborhood that it was a surprise to see someone taller than him! Not to mention, someone with such a unique appearance to them!

“GaH! Neighbor! You gave me a heart attack!”

When you’d whip your tail onto the floor, Howdy would always let out a little scream. He’s one of the neighbors who dislike the tail whipping, he could just never see it coming! He won’t lie though, he’d admit that he would find your horns quite lovely looking… He’d compare them to his antennas!

“Hope nothing’s bugging you today, neighbor!”

Sally Starlet

“Wooow! You look… so… so… amazing!”

Sally would be absolutely captivated by you. She would love nothing more than to get to know her otherworldly neighbor! Every time she hears your tail whipping, she’d get so excited and go over to you right away! Sally is just so curious about you!

“Where did you come from?!”

She wouldn’t hesitate to ask you all kinds of questions! Even if you wouldn’t really respond directly, she doesn’t mind! Sally loves your company and would often invite you to watch her rehearsals, she would even ask you to join her sometimes as a silent actor!

Poppy Partridge

Poppy wouldn’t know what to think! Such a unique individual you are, she’d think. Poppy loves having you around and she really likes baking with you too! This time, you find comfort in her presence. She’s just so motherly and caring! You can’t help but feel so safe around her!

Out of anyone, you would be most comfortable being more chatty around her! She listens to your thoughts and even laughs at your jokes, Poppy absolutely adores your voice and loves listening to you speak! She feels quite honored that you talk more when with her!

Wally Darling

“Welcome to the neighborhood… Me…?”

Oh, he’d be quite confused and especially so curious! You had his yellow tone, his blue swirly hair, and your clothing colors matched his! Just who were you?

“How odd… Do you know me?”

Wally would be so fascinated! He’d think that you must have seen him before somehow, or maybe you were just another Wally!

“You look quite nice, other me….”

He would think you look the absolute most! Wally would absolutely adore you, seeing as you are- well… Him!

Barnaby Beagle

“Well, isn’t this just the most silliest thing I’ve ever seen!”

Barnaby would think it is an absolute riot! Especially if you’re the kind to make all kinds of jokes! He wouldn’t be able to help himself and burst out laughing, he’d find it quite funny!

“This outfit’s missing just one more thing!”

Out of seemingly nowhere, he pulls out a smaller version of his hat. Barnaby would place it very carefully atop your head in juuuust the right way.

Now you really looked like a Barnaby!

“Hilarious! I gotta show this to the entire neighborhood!”

This would be the start of a very lovely friendship! He’d be so happy to introduce you to the rest of the neighborhood, he’ll even joke around about the two of you being long lost siblings!

Eddie would flip his hat off! Staring at you with such curiosity and wonder, he wouldn’t know what to even say!

“Say, uh- you come from the same family?”

With how alike you were, he’d believe you were family, maybe distant cousins? Even if you weren’t a Dear, he’d still find it absolutely fascinating! The new neighbor looking like him?? Now that’s something that’s never happened before!

“Ya gotta meet Frank! He’s in for a ride when he sees you, neighbor!”

Of course, Eddie would want to introduce you to Frank right away after getting the introductions all over with. He’d definitely treat you just like family, he’d see you as his sibling and he is not afraid to show it!

For a moment, they were absolutely dumbfounded. They just didn’t know what to think of it!

You had their gray color, the floppy black hair, and even the same patterns they had on their vest!

They’d feel quite curious, studying you from head to toe. Frank would be startled by your existence, wondering just how this came to be. The similarities were just so on point! You might as well have come from the same family they did… But they’ve never even heard of you!
