So ayun na nga, sobrang busy and pagod ako lately kaya di ko na din nakwento yung takbo ko sa Asics Rock n Roll Running Series Manila last Sunday, pero ang wild ng experience na yun hahaha. I planned and started training more than 2 months before that event but a lot of things happened — I got sidelined for two weeks due to flu, then got busy with job hunting, then later on with taking care of my requirements, and in between all that I was also still managing reservations at our vacation place and helping out with my siblings’ respective businesses.
Anyway, by the time November rolled around I still had very little practice, and the fact that I planned my training around “long, easy runs” didn’t help me develop the strength and speed I needed to smash this run.
The event was scheduled in the wee hours of Sunday— gun start for my distance was at 2:00 AM. The least I could do was adjust my sleeping hours and make sure that I was getting enough sleep, but my sleeping schedule was shit that week. I had to wake up at 2:00 AM on Wednesday to accompany my sister Kat with her deliveries, then ganun ulit nung Sabado.
Alas otso na kami natapos magluto, and by that time pagod na kami pareho.
Sayaaaaang.
By 12:20 AM nawalan na ako ng pag-asa and thought I would miss the event for sure, I was literally wiping away tears of disappointment in the middle of the empty road, patawid na ako para umuwi when I saw a taxi approaching.
Despite my lack of sleep and the stress of almost missing the event, I was still able to manage my run splendidly — I recorded a negative split and finished race in less than 2 and a half hours. I couldn’t help but feel emotional when I reached the finish line.
I lingered in the venue for a bit then got my stuff sa baggage counter at bumyahe na agad pauwi — may order na breakfast yung guests namin so I needed to help in the kitchen, then pagka-check out nila may guests ulit sa gabi bilang long weekend so kailangan ko ulit maglinis hahaha tangina kuracha yan?
At dahil dyan buong week na yata akong nagbabawi ng tulog at pahinga, I’m still doing chores and running errands here and there but during my down time nakahiga lang ako either natutulog or nanonood ng The Big Bang Theory. And to that I say, “dasurv.”

SUMMER ESCAPE
"A good food is equals to a good mood"
Tumblr media
A trip will not end without savoring a food or a delicacy that a specific place serves. Then here comes the rise of food travel, which builds a very exciting and flavorful adventure. During summer time in the Philippines, one of the most popular and always sought-after desserts by Filipinos is the famous "halo-halo," a dessert that consists of different kinds of ingredients, shaved ice and milk, and sometimes comes with ice cream or leche flan on top. A unique Filipino delicacy that could turn your summer into a cool one. As far as I remember, it is called "Halo-Halo" because of the ingredients and the way of eating it. For you to savor it and the true flavor of it, you need to mix all the ingredients in a cup with a spoon and mix them until well combined.
Tumblr media
There are several famous places in the Philippines that serve Halo-Halo; one of these is the famous Digman store that is located in Bacoor, Cavite. They serve a flavorful type of halo-halo that consists of twelve (12) ingredients: sweet corn, sweet beans, gulaman in two (2) varieties, sweetened sliced banana, sweetened coconut meat, kaong, sago, nata de coco, black beans, leche flan, and ube, which are all home-made excluding the milk and the ice. They offer regular halo-halo which cost a hundred pesos and special halo-halo, that comes with an ice cream and leche flan on top for a hundred and ten pesos. Aside from this, one of their specialties is their home-made siopao for only 30 pesos, which comes in only one flavor. My visit to Digman won't be complete if I do not try these specials on their menu, so I purchase each one and have a mouthful of it. I could really say that there's something in their halo-halo that's different from the typical one that you can buy anywhere. It is way creamier and it has just the right amount of sweetness, plus it is really amazing because it consists of twelve home-made ingredients, which have been done for almost how many years since the day the business started way back in the 1930's. That was the recipe of Raymunda Ugalde-Toledo, also known as Aling Raymunda, the mother of the three (3) owners of Digman stores. As for their famous home-made siopao, at first bite, you can already say that it is home-made because of its dough and the meat inside, you can taste the flavor of home made food. It is not bad because there are a lot of fillings, and the sauce is really crazy, which adds flavor to the siopao itself. It has come to my knowledge that both the siopao and its sauce are home-made. There are a lot in their menu aside from these two specialties like Mais con yelo, empanada, pancit, tapsilog, chicken mami, BBQ, and more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Halo-halo is something special to every Filipino; it is our true food to escape the hot weather and cool ourselves. It is way simple, but it holds a lot of stories; it shows different colors and backgrounds; and it feels happiness and contentment. Food that will cool your whole existence and answer your cravings this summer. A cool escape in the summer which can give you a refreshing vibe. "Halo-halo," the summer food escape and the taste of Filipinos.

Weekend Escapes✨
Some people think that being a working student is quite hard, especially in handling our precious time and schedules. I always manage my schedule every day starting with waking up early at 4 am up to lunchtime for my morning work shift then going straight ahead into my classes then getting home by 9 in the evening. This kind of schedule may be tough and tiring but always remember that you still need to rest especially on weekends, I will show you how I spend my rest days after a few days of no classes.
Tumblr media
St. John Bosco Parish Church-Makati City, April 7, 2024
It all started last Sunday wherein I put my rest day into Lord’s Day, a day where I spent my whole day listening to the words of God. I was invited to attend a family recollection by one of my youth mates, it is supposed to be an exclusive event for a family but instead, they also invited their friends in able to celebrate and meditate.
Tumblr media
McDonald’s Bahayang Pag-asa, Molino 3 Bacoor City, April 8, 2024
Another day passed and my rest day ended a few hours ago, I already started my day going to work. It’s still dark outside but I needed to come to work in able to fund my educational expenses. After 8 long hours of my shift, I still needed to come home early as there were some school activities that I needed to finish already.
Tumblr media
Sto. Niño De Molino Parish Church, Molino 3 Bacoor City, April 9, 2024
Since this day is a holiday my schedule from work got a little bit changed making my shift started from lunchtime up to late afternoon. As I was about to go home, I just felt some urge to walk for a while before I got home and my feet brought me into one of my favorite churches nearby. It just happens that there is a mass ongoing.
Tumblr media
McDonald’s Salawag, Salawag Dasmariñas City, April 10, 2024
After a tiring day of work and school activities, I just decided to visit the nearest McDonald’s from my home to order some iced coffee and burgers in able to cheer up myself after a tiring day. The days of having no classes are coming to an end, midterms are coming also and I want to prepare myself again for another battle for the next few days.

From Past to Present: A Journey of Place and Change of barangay Maliksi 3
Photo essay by John Bert Sanchez
Maliksi, Bacoor – the place of my origin, there are so many changes in this place from previous to present time. Before, this place used to be as “ asininan” or the salt farming but as the times goes by it faded out which is why The livelihood of our community are Also change. I remembered when I was in grade school we used to play in grass field when it still clean, we often play here with my friends and always climbing the “kamatsile” or the sweet tamarind tree which is also gone when they cut it off.
Tumblr media
If you can actually witness this place from the previous years, You can really see the huge difference from the previous condition of this place to the present. I took this picture On April 9th 2024, this second picture that was taken is the main passage to go in dagat and ilog, our community used to call them dagat and ilog which is about the small place in barangay maliksi 3 that is near side of the river and Sea. Before, there is also another livelihood that my community also do, since that we are very close to the sea, most of people in my community are also use to do fishing that is until now became the Main source of income of most of the people in my community.
Tumblr media
As the times goes by, most of the place here in Maliksi 3 are totally changing, as we are now in the modern era, the discipline and being responsible is something that has been forgotten by the this generation. Most of the place here, had became very polluted where you will see innumerable trash wherever you will go Most specially in sea side part of Maliksi 3, However, because of newly elected barangay officials they’re started to take an actions and programs that will really help to clean up and at the same time maintain its cleanliness, that is why every night they regularly collecting the trash of all the houses in my community, and I hope that everyone will participate and to be able to learn and to bring back what really the Filipinos are most specially the youth.
