🌿 Roter Mulatschak 2020 🌿 A light and fruity red wine by Meinklang in Burgenland, Austria. It’s an interesting blend of Zweigelt and St Laurent (a variety related to Pinot Noir). The perfect wine to put in the fridge and crack open outdoors, as an aperitif before a meal or on a Sunday afternoon. Lovely, pronounced aromas of ripe blackberries and baked cherry pie/cherry compote, the palate is easy going with a bunch of sour cherries and nice, plentiful acidity that keeps things fresh. You’d be tempted to think this is just another great gluglu bottle, but if you drink the first two glasses slowly and give it about 10-20 minutes, the wine will open up and reveal a deep and rounder flavour profile. Altogether delicious. Superb value!

Migrated to see my friends @highstreetwine for a couple glasses. First was the Cara Ferreirinha Planalto. A killer Douro white blend - 20% Viosinho, 20% Malaysia Fina, 15% Gouveio, 15% Arinto, 15% Códega, 10% Rabigato, 5% Moscatel Next came the @nikolaihofwachau Zwickl Grüner Veltliner. Unfiltered. Another killer wine with a touch of sweetness. Really more of a richness than actual sweetness. Yeah I’m distracted AF right now. When this vintage was released from Muhr van der Nierpoort the winery was a partnership between former husband-wife and wine partners.
