The Gang-Gang Cockatoo! One of the only species I've covered to be known commonly by its actual Aboriginal Name! (either from the Ngunnawal or Wiradjuri people, although it's possible both called them this).

GangGangs are a pretty interesting cockatoo, as you can see their crest is rather wispy and fluffy rather than the straight feathers you find on most Cockies. The ladies of this species are quite similar but are missing the red face and crest of the gentlemen presented here. Instead they have an adorable grey miniature crest

every single time i see a native australian bird that i usually see outside my window in the wild and in the outback doing it's thing and displaying interesting birdie behaviour it makes me smile. and then i see another bird of the same species inside somebody's house as a pet it makes me want to bite and kill and bite and kil and bite kill bite kill bite kill bite ki

The bird in the picture is a crimson rosella native to Australia. Absolutely stunning birds I’m so glad I get to see them everyday.

This is Ricky (named after Ricky Jervais) and he was the first bird to visit our house when we first moved in and he has visited ever since
