Final trip Bird! Jessie the Wedge Tailed Eagle. After the free flight show I zoomed my way to the photograph area and the ladies doing it were extremely nice enough to let me in early to take some photos of Jesse. Jesse was brought into the Korrumbin wildlife hospital at a young age, and was deemed unreleasable due to his inability to fly. He is now an ambassador animal who poses very well! Even if he got a little distracted by a stinkbug on his post.

Bush Stone Curlew! This guy had to be photographed by my much taller brother as he was up on a raised platform I was too short to see onto.

Domestic pigeons! These guys were rather friendly and wandering about the Kangaroo/Emu exhibit. They aren't super common where I am so it is very interesting to me to see such large groups and the random colour mutations within the flock.

Cassowaries, the smaller, deadlier Australian Ratite. While adult cassowaries are a smidgen shorter than their Emu Cousins, they weigh almost double and could break bone with a kick.
In reality Cassowaries are not out there chasing down innocents (Unless you're a dog but that might be due to dingoes/feral dogs rather than viscous intent). Cassowaries are solitary frugivores who only become aggressive while protecting young or if they associate people with food.
Much like emus, the dad does all the parenting! Miss Cassowary will lay her eggs and then move on to the next male. (Also I'm not sure why they always get netted enclosures, if you know, let me know!)

It's our national bird! THE EMU. "Pronounced E-mew not E-moo"
The Emu is quite widespread so among more than 250 indiginous languages, I went with the name used by traditional owners of my area, The Dharug people - The Mariong.
This emu in particular was in the Kangaroo petting area and was quite open to allowing pets while he snacked on Kangaroo pellets. Their feathers are quite odd in texture! I'd describe it as bristles rather than feathers.

One delightful little Moorhen
I love these crazy footed little weirdos! These waterbirds have long toes to help balance on surface plants and are a pretty common sight along the rivers and beaches.
Their babies also look like crazy little muppets.

A Superb parrot who knows he is superb.
A vulnerable parrot species from Southern Australia, much like many Australian native species, they have suffered due to a destruction of their habitat and the introduction of invasive predatory animals.

Double Eyed Fig Parrot!
Despite seemingly being listed as least concern, this is one parrot I had never seen before! They are the smallest parrot found in Australia but are more commonly found in New Guinea. They are crazy cute and I hope they get more recognition.

A great Egret! Very Great!
This guy was a little hard to photograph as he was bouncing up in the trees with the cormorants.

Classic Gorgeous wild type Cockatiel.
Gotta say that one of my favourite things to do in zoos is visit these massive aviaries where typical pet birds can fly around and socialize similarly to how they do in the wild.
