🌷GUMMITULPAN 🌷 So excited about my involvement in this issue of @lystring_forlag ‘s comics anthology! The anthology is produced out of Sweden, so @lystring_forlag helped me translate my work into Swedish! It was really fun working in another language. The title of the series is “Gummitulpan” which means “Rubber Tulip”. So interesting how the Swedish translation is just one word! Anyway, here’s a few glamour shots with my copy, in front of my wall of in-progress @fantagraphics book pages… 🤠 The series of collaged comixxx featured in this anthology is an expansion of a series of mine printed in a recent issue of ATX’s Peach Fuzz Magazine. My residency @flatbedpress is underway! I have some goals of course—mostly to finish the work I started in Italy this past September 😎—but I also want to see where the work in printmaking takes me ✨ I’m a painter forever, but I can’t ignore the call of paper, and how excited I am to be working on a press again (something I did in art school but then took a 20 year break). 2023 is looking like my year of possibilities, which I fully intend to embrace 💝 these slides: 1. Me with my Flatbed apron 🤓 2. The teal #takachpress that is about to become my new best friend 3. My spot in the flat files right next to @samanthamelvinart 💓 4. Edward posing on one of the French presses (I promise it was only for this photo Katharine! 😇) 5. The Flatbed sign over their letterpress setup (if only I had more hours in the day! I want to work with EVERYTHING!!) I’ll be working here in the evenings mostly for the next 5 months, and in my painting studio @springdalegeneral in the daytime.
