Path of Exile – Hideout, Masters and Master-Crafting Guide 2019
The post Path of Exile – Hideout, Masters and Master-Crafting Guide 2019 appeared first on Fextralife.
In this article we will cover everything you need to know about Hideouts in Path of Exile. Hideouts are areas where players can decorate, craft and invite masters. There have been changes with the recent introduction of Betrayal League to Hideouts and many of these changes have been for the better.
Path of Exile Hideout, Masters and Master-Crafting Guide
Hideouts are unlocked after freeing Helena in Act 2. After that you will need to claim it by clearing out the monsters that inhabit it. There are many different hideouts with varying tilesets that are found in campaign and maps. To change a tileset simply talk to Helena and pick ‘Select Hideout’ option.
You can visit other players’ hideouts by right clicking on their name and choosing ‘Visit Hideout’ option. Visitors have limited functions available to them when visiting other players’ hideout. For example they can sell items at Masters but cannot buy or use the crafting bench. Hideouts can be accessed in two ways after unlocking them:
By typing /hideout in chat while in town
When using Waypoints you can access a hideout by clicking the Hideout icon located at the bottom right corner
Recent changes have made hideouts Cross-League, meaning you don’t have to start from scratch anymore when starting a new league. Hideouts, decorations and favour are shared account-wide now. On PC only there is an option to export your hideout to a file and import it later. This option can be used as a way to back up your current hideout before doing something experimental with it, or as a way to simply share a hideout with other community members. You can have a different hideout set up for each tileset, and they can be swapped between them at will.
Decorations
Decorations are cosmetic additions to hideouts that hold no gameplay function besides making hideouts look more aesthetically pleasing. When a hideout has been claimed, it can be edited by clicking on the Hideout button at the bottom right corner. Decorations are bought from Masters by earning Favour which acts an an in-game currency in Path of Exile.
On this screen you can place all the decorations that are unlocked by buying them from Masters or gained by other means
Masters
Masters are special NPCs that randomly spawn in the wild and can be invited to a hideout. After encountering them in the wild they will appear in towns as well.
After being found in the wild, Masters will appear in towns
Each master offers missions, unique crafting recipes and have unique mechanics and rewards. By completing their missions you gain favour which is used to purchase decorations. Masters have Favour Levels which are capped at 7 and every level unlocks new decorations. There are a total of 5 masters:
Einhar, Beastmaster
Found in Act 2.
His missions involve hunting beasts.
Unlocks Menagerie where you can hold beasts collected during hunts and fight beasts for rewards.
Niko, Master of Depths
Found in Act 4.
His missions involve finding caches of Voltaxic Sulphite that are used in the infinite dungeon the Azurite Mines.
Alva, Master Explorer
Found in Act 7.
Her missions are Temporal Incursions that require slaying architects to improve rewards in the large dungeon Temple of Atzoatl.
Zana, Master Cartographer
Found in the Epilogue.
Offers maps with specific missions.
Jun, Veiled Master:
Found in Act 1 in Betrayal League only.
Her missions include hunting down Immortal Syndicate members.
Menagerie is Einhar’s unique mechanic where you can capture and battle beasts for rewards
Hideouts are now automatically upgraded to the maximum size when unlocked and can have all types of masters. There are also non-master NPCs such as Navali that can be invited to a hideout and their functions will become usable as well.
Master-Crafting
By placing a Crafting Bench in the hideout you are ready to start crafting. At the crafting bench you can craft every mod that is unlocked by helping Masters as well as through exploration. Recipes that are unlocked are shared account wide.
Crafting Bench is important part of the end-game
Crafting bench lets you add one modifier to an item. In order to add a  modifier to an item you must follow these two rules:
Item cannot have an affix of that type already
Item must have prefix and suffix open
Crafted mods have distinctive brighter text then non-crafted ones. If at any point you are not happy with the current crafted modifier, it can be removed by using Orb of Scouring. It is also possible to craft more then one mod with Of Crafting Suffix meta-crafting mode.
Prefixes and Suffixes
Prefixes and Suffixes describe which affixes are present on an item. More prefixes and suffixes equals more affixes. To know exactly which is which, there is an option in the UI called Advanced Mod Crafting. After you enable this, hold Alt or press Left Analogue Stick on consoles to see all modifiers.
By enabling Advanced Mod Description you can easily see what is prefix and what suffix
There is a specific amount of Prefixes and Suffixes each item can have depending on the rarity and item type:
Magic (Blue): up 1 of each
Rare (Yellow): up 3 of each
Unique (Orange):  fixed and vary depending on the item
Item Levels
By holding ALT key or pressing Left Analogue Stick on console you view item levels. This is important to know because item levels determine how far numbers on modifiers can go. Item level also determines maximum number of sockets. Level of item drops depends on the zone level but not player level.
The difference between a high level item versus a low level item and the modifiers it can roll are huge. Let’s take ‘Increased Physical Damage‘ prefix as an example, the item level 1 can roll 40-49, while item level 83 can roll 170-179. Here you can check the values of every prefix and suffix.
Meta-Crafting
Meta-Crafting means crafting mods that have unique modifiers that break conventional crafting rules. These mods do not give typical stat increases or bonuses of any kind.
Example of what you can do with meta-crafting mods. Mods in Bright Blue are all crafted ones
There are a total of 5 meta-crafting mods:
Of Crafting
Recipe found in Pale Court.
Removes limit of only 1 Crafted Mod per item.
Suffixed
Recipe found from Unbreathing Queen V prophecy.
How this mod works is that it makes suffixes permanent on an item that uses this mod.
It is used to save suffixes that you like so that when altering the item they are not wiped.
This mod counts as a Prefix which means it is going to be wiped when using Orb of Scouring or altering item in any way.
Of Prefixes
Recipe found from Unbearable Whispers V prophecy.
Works same way as Suffixed but reversed.
Of Spellcraft
Recipe found from The Plaguemaw V prophecy.
It prevents Attack modifiers on an item when crafting.
Attack modifiers are such as IAdded x Damage, Increased Accuracy, Critical Strike Chance, Life gained on Attack etc.
Of Weaponcraft
Recipe found from Feral Lord V.
It prevents Caster modifiers on an item when crafting.
Caster modifiers are such as Increased Elemental or Spell Damage, Adds Elemental Damage to Spells, Increased Casting Speed etc.
Meta-crafting is important for the end-game because it can speed up the process for getting exactly the item you want, or creating a valuable item for trading.
Final Thoughts & Summary
Hideouts are an integral part of Path of Exile because it offers access to Master Crafting and Masters with ease. While Master Crafting and Meta-Crafting are end-game crafting methods, decorating on the other hand is just a cosmetic bonus that has no influence on gameplay, but offers a nice distraction from constant grinding and crafting.
Purchasing Decor with Favour from Masters adds nothing of value but offers a nice distraction and change of usual PoE pace
Masters are the most important NPCs in the game because they offer a wide variety of useful functions. These include crafting recipes, mechanics (such as Menagerie where you can battle and sacrifice beasts for rewards), unlocking access to fossils and resonators, new dungeons and so on. Using what they offer to not only receive, but also craft items you desire while grinding maps is the end-game for Path of Exile. While there is a long road ahead in order to be prepared for the toughest content, hideouts offer what is needed to get you ready for it.

Path of Exile hits nearly 100,000 concurrents after latest expansion
Path of Exile’s latest expansion launched over the weekend, and it’s had quite an impact on player numbers. In fact, Incursion saw the game’s peak concurrent player count spike to twice what it reached in May.
The time-travelling expansion tasks players with altering the future by exploring dungeons in the past, searching for an ancient treasure temple, Atzoatl. To do that, you’ll need to hunt down a specific NPC in the present, who’ll send you back in time to fight waves of monsters. Do that 11 times in different spots, and you’ll find the present-day location of the temple to earn your rewards.
Check out our list of the best MMORPGs.
It’s clearly a popular concept, as, according to SteamCharts, the player count on June 1 rose from around 10,000 players to just shy of 90,000 by midnight. The peak player count has stayed pretty steady since then, peaking at 95,824 last night. That’s just for Steam, of course, meaning Xbox players and those who don’t play on Valve’s platform haven’t been counted - the real peak is probably significantly more than 100,000.
That’s double what Path of Exile managed in May. The peak player count last month was 42,316 on Steam, so the rise to nearly 100,000 is pretty impressive. Path of Exile: Incursion is yet to have as significant an impact on average player count as on its peak count, although that figure has risen from 15,000 to 20,000 in the past few days, a number likely to continue to rise throughout June.

Path of Exile: Incursion Preview: The Temple of Time
The Path of Exile journey has brought players across many exciting landscapes over the path couple of years. It's taken players beyond its island of dangers, treasures, and loot and has taken them across crazy dungeons and even beyond the outer reaches of other dimensions. But for the latest content update, Grinding Gear Games is looking to go across the very reaches of time.
Path of Exile: Incursion is being called a cross between an expansion and a new Challenge League, offering some new challenges, along with some story content that will further flesh out the mysterious island of Wraeclast. The Incursion Challenge League will introduce a relic hunter named Alva Valai, who seeks out the lost temple of Atzoatl. Within the temple walls lie the secrets of the Vaal civilization and also great fortune, but there's a little problem. The temple is hidden from human eyes. But on top of that, it's completely dilapidated, with many of its rooms inaccessible. At least they are in present day.
The idea of Incursion is for Alva to send players back in time via Temporal Incursions. This gives players a chance to walk through the walls of the temple as it's being built. The trouble is that it's full of demons, monsters, and other hard-hitting enemies.
But there's more to the temple than that. Alva's power can only send players to the temple for a mere ten seconds. Players can extend their stay in the past for a few more seconds for each enemy they manage to defeat. This makes the run through the past temple an exciting race against the clock. One thing that should be noted here is that players don't have to waste their time collecting loot, as any drops will appear after the player returns to the present day.
Following roughly 11 Temporal Incursions, Alva will find the present day location of the temple, allowing players to explore its present day layout. But that won't be the last opportunity to visit the temple in the past. After finding the temple in the present day, players can get the opportunity to re-visit the past temple to help shape it in different ways. Upgrading the temple means connecting various rooms and potentially connecting to a boss room, containing a powerful foe, who guards powerful treasures.
Players can also influence the temple in different ways, opting to make it either easier or harder. One example given was a poison garden room, which can be opened up and cultivated. Doing so in the past will cause toxic flowers and other dangers to show up in the present. Avoiding the poison garden will make the temple an easier trek, but enduring the additional hazards will also open up better rewards, like a guaranteed poison-themed unique item. Players' main methods of influencing the present will involve taking out any Vaal Architects in the past that are overseeing the temple's construction.
Beyond the temple run and the encounters with Alva, Grinding Gear wasn't able to resist the temptation to refine other elements of Path of Exile. Remember Vaal skills first introduced way back in Path of Exile: Sacrifice of the Vaal, all the way back in 2014? The developers revealed that the core mechanics for these are being reworked. Beyond adding whole new Vaal skills, the developers have also made it so that players can equip Vaal skills and also get the corresponding regular skill attached for free. On top of that, the soul costs for many of the Vaal skills are being reduced.
Other skills are also being revamped, some getting a visual coat of paint and others getting a few mechanical upgrades. Examples include the Incinerate and the Rain of Arrows skills, which are getting some visual polish. But the biggest change will arguably go to the game's trap skills, giving them an extra degree of aggressiveness. Grinding Gear helpfully sent a list of the upgraded trap skills, which are:
Explosive Trap: Throws a trap that creates a large explosion when triggered, dealing spell damage in an area. A number of smaller explosions occur around this area in quick succession after the first.
Lightning Spire Trap: Throws a trap which, once triggered, will repeatedly strike multiple areas around it for a duration, dealing lightning damage. Modifiers to cast speed will affect how frequently it strikes.
Flamethrower Trap: Throws a trap that will release a number of flames in different directions around it when triggered. The flames will last for a duration, rotating around the trap and repeatedly dealing damage.
Siphoning Trap: Throws a trap that applies debuff beams to a number of nearby enemies for a duration. The beams will chill enemies and deal cold damage over time. A beam is also applied to you, granting life and mana regeneration based on the number of debuff beams affecting enemies.
Seismic Trap: Throws a trap which, once triggered, will repeatedly release a number of waves for a duration. Each wave deals damage in a series of small bursts in a line, ending with a larger burst. Modifiers to cast speed will affect how frequently it releases waves.
Those looking to get into this freshly revamped Path of Exile won't have to wait too long. Incursion is set to hit the PC version of the game on June 1, with the Xbox One version set to jump in less than a week later.

☯: Kiss on the forehead
It's always the same thing, really.
She doesn't know why she engages him, but whenever she finds herself walking along next to him, she can't help herself. He starts it, really. Today, he has gone to wondering why she's so indignant, why she can't simply accept what is right; that is, what it is he has to say, because that is what's right.
She finally raises her voice louder than Kiyotaka thought possible.
"Isn't it better to have someone who will stand strongly by their convictions? Or would you rather someone completely abandon everything they believe in for every man who strolls by with a convincing argument?"
He stops and turns abruptly, cornering Chiaki against a wall, though even with his intimidating stature leaning over her, she doesn't relent and continues glaring at him. She's really anything but threatening. He smirks and leans down to look her in the eye for a moment. She's so ridiculously small. The glare doesn't go away and she even seems to puff her chest out to make herself seem marginally bigger and more threatening.
The only reaction it gets is to cause him to snicker at her. Straightening his back only slightly, he closes his eyes and presses a kiss against her forehead, lingering for what is probably longer than necessary.
The first thing she thinks is that his lips are so horribly chapped, though when the reality of the situation sinks in, she freezes up except for a few incredulous blinks and the bright red pouring into her face that she can't seem to control.
He stands up straight again, gauging her reaction with an entirely blank expression. It's a few seconds before she moves, first fidgeting with the edge of her skirt, and he can see the wheels turning in her head as she tries to process what had happened.
Unable to do so, she asks quietly, not meeting his gaze, "What was that about?"
There's a beat while he stares at her, then sighs and turns to leave.
"I'm done with you for today."

Kiyotaka Ishimaru is a distinguished individual, to put it lightly. While I cannot say that I am particularly familiar with him and his ideologies as of this point in time, from what I have seen, he is a fearsome figure commanding of respect. And while I may not necessarily find myself in agreement with his methods, that is not to say that I do not harbor some form of respect for him. Being a person of status, myself, I understand the struggle and hardships that accompany trying to gain the respect you so rightfully deserve from subordinates. He does not cease to voice his opinion on any particular subject, but he also does not do so without a rigid structure of logic and firm, rational reasoning in doing so. There is not a soul who could argue that he incessantly runs his mouth rather than offer commentary in a manner as dignified as his consistent mannerisms.
While acquaintanceship is a term I would likely use loosely, I prefer to think that there is a mutual respect existing between the two of us. I have no qualms with him, and I can, in fact, go so far as to say that I admire his consistency in upholding and adhering to a strict structure of authority.
Tumblr media
Arjuna is a dense clod!!!No, but really, let me tell you about the sheer amount of respect I have for this guy right here. Because holy shit, I admire him as a roleplayer so much that it’s ridiculous. Every time he so much as comments on an open post of my, his literacy and verbal capabilities leave me awestruck. I literally have to stop and stare for a minute because, wow. He is absolutely flawless and that’s clearly no secret around the community here. But I think my favorite part of Arjuna is that, in spite of his obvious popularity and reputation, he’s actually a really cool, down to earth guy and that’s something you don’t generally find? I just think he’s a really awesome person, even if he does to continue to intimidate the living hell out of me. Words just cannot describe how much I wish I could possess half of the talent that he does when it comes to his writing and like I said—I know basically everyone in this fandom thinks that. But they’re right to think so because it’s phenomenal. Never stop being hella, Arjuna “Banannibal” Lecter.

Path of Exile: Incursion is out now, adding the mysterious Temple of Atzoatl

Here are the basics for Path of Exile: Incursion: Your task is to link up with Alva Valai to find 11 portals into the Temple of Atzoatl, one in each area of Wraeclast. Those will take you into a Temporal Incursion, each one a different room in the large temple far in the past. Inside, you’ll find tons of enemies, including two Vaal Architects. Both Architects have different plans for the room you’re in, and depending on which one you kill, the room’s function in the temple will change.
Path of Exile is on our list of the best free games on PC.
Once you’ve finished all the Temporal Incursions, Alva will be able to pinpoint the location of the Temple, back in the present day. Head there, and you’ll be treated to a dungeon run that’s been set up to reflect your choices in the incursions. Different room configurations will mean different challenges, traps, and monsters to face, and if you play your cards right, unique gear that you can’t find anywhere else in the game.
You can find out more about Path of Exile: Incursion in our explainer, here. It sounds like an interesting new twist on the Breach Challenge League, and this time around you’ll have more than ten seconds to work with when you enter a dungeon, which is helpful.
Here's the trailer for Incursion, along with an introduction from the developers.
