This is probs controversial, I almost wanna bet on it. But I really think that own voice has a diaspora problem. Diaspora books get sold as #ownvoice-authentic, but it don't factor if it's even actually authentic. Diaspora could write the biggest trash fire butchering the culture, and it'd still be #auehtntic ownvoice. You wanna fuck around with the culture sure, but athentic own voice should maybe have sooooooome kinda quality control? Maybe gen-ownvoice shouldn't be spearheaded by diaspora, when we got native writers who's stories are available? Those don't get a "ownvoice-authentic label." You're not arsenic just because you're diaspora, and maybe people should consider the difference between DIASPORA-ownvoice writing as diaspora, and what that means for "owvoice" bc diaspora have really different ownvoice from native people, or just other ppl from that native country. Diaspora shouldn't be the poster child for ownvoice, even if it's a Anglosphere term, bc it completely steamrolls over people who're native to a culture, still living it, and write based on their culture and experiences in different genres. Makes it seem like there's no differnce or that diaspora are more valid as ownvoice source.

Not to sound as any other person who had access to Tumblr in 2013 but I've been called "weird" my whole life because of many many reasons: for my interests, my hobbies, what I read, the way I look, for not fitting into what's femenine or masculine sometimes (this led me to really don't care about pronouns and be confortable with any), for the way I act, my sexuallity or even my ideas... I learned to love it and be comfortable by it, and now I see that as my opportunity to just be ME, and wanting to really really get to know me by expressing my self and creating my own identity.

I was over with these kind of ideas because I see adults as different worlds and experiences, no one is really weird or normal, we are just people and I've learned to appreciate people by who they are, but I guess one can never forget about being called strange since childhood, and at least in design and art being called weird is a compliment and if someone can be different just by the way they look, at least different and confident, it can lead to great opportunities:)

Something that really impacted me was that a friend of mine who I really admire because of his ideas and creations, actually admires me for being my athentic self; he did it by calling me weird and diffrerent, which he said as a compliment, and It meant a lot
