1-day Sunday trek to ASHERIGAD

Our group of 5 friends explored Asherigad at Khodkona near Palghar on 21/08/2022 on TTMM basis.

Ascent: steep uphill climb, full of rocks and through the forest.

Descent: backtrack and some slippery mud path in between.

1 stream has to be crossed while trekking.

The blog post is divided in 4 parts:

Route: Dahanu Local or memu train - Palghar - ST bus depot - Mastan Naka or Manor - shared jeep to Khodkona - walk for 1 km & reach trailhead - trek starts - Asherigad top - backtrack.

Time Line:

60/- return rickshaw between home & railway station.

80/- return train ticket.

40/- bus from Palghar to Mastan Naka.

60/- return shared non-AC jeep fare between Mastan naka and Khodkona.

50/- rickshaw from Mastan Naka to Palghar railway station (shared between 5 passenegers).

120/- snacks (including breakfast & evening tea and refreshments).

Total = ~ 410/- per head.Time line:

06:15 wake up

07:20 train to Palghar.

08:30 reach Palghar.

09:00 to 09:30 breakfast at Mastan Naka.

10:00 reach Khodkona.

10:30 reach trialhead & trek starts.

13:00 reach top of Ahserigad.

14:00 backtracking starts.

16:30 reach Khodkona.

18:15 reach Palghar railway station.

19:30 home sweet home.

Built by Raja Bhoj in 13th century. This fort has changed hands to Bhimdev (also known as Bimba) Located in Palghar region along Mumbai-Ahmedbad highway. This fort stands tall next to Adsul on the other side of highway. Built by Raja Bhoj in 13th century. This fort has changed hands to Bhimdev III (also known as Bimba), and then was under Portuguese occupation when they held Vasai region. Asherigad, Maharashtra | June, 2017 Although the Forest Department has setup make-shift dustbins (like the ones above), they are way too shallow and entirely open. This blows all the trash back onto the hill sides. There is also no system of disposal or collection from the hill. Nearly all the plastic trash is food wrapping and covers. Everything we took up there, ate and coolly littered on these amazing Sahyadri hills.
