tum mere paas raho by nayyara noor plays in the background
like a plea almost,
and i sit here in my fully lit apartment on a friday
to write about so many things,
haven't written in a while.
but out of all things,
to specifically write about the dark van yesterday,
Mahin and Salar sat on the front in seats, sarah and i sat in the back
the van, shaky, and dark
Mahin and Salar talked about a million things
including rent and work and finances and
what not,
sarah and I, sat, and vibed to music together,
we lit a cigarette,
i could not see where it was ashed
the van fully dark,
it took a break and gave me a jerk,
harsh.
jolly and silly, they say,
salar, on the driving seat, laughed and apologized
are you okay he asked
I am, I said.
jolly and silly. goofy.
a pretty fucking dark van.
on the way back, once we had picked up sarah's bed and mattress,
we put the mattress in the back of the van,
and sarah and i sat on that,
i lied down and closed my eyes for a while.
mahin and salar's conversations got louder and louder,
silly and jolly,,
sarah would give me a soft look every now and then,
like a silent check in, holding me close,
i closed my eyes.
"guys mahnoor is sleeping," sarah said trying to get them to speak lower.
"oh sorry" salar said, resuming to be as loud.

This van would remain dark, and all I wanted was
to get out of it
the only comfort being Sarah's silence presence,
sisterhood finding its ways,

sirf khench khench kar

just like the fucking jerks in the dark fucking van. hamaray wujood kee is mein koi jaga nahi.
