A helpful article on Artquest about when to apply for grants. This will be a good reference point when I come to put forward to my ‘Ruins’ exhibition proposal. 

I currently feel that a good starting point for raising funds for the exhibition would be to start a Crowdfunder, particularly as if the exhibition was to actually be held on Drake’s Island it would be of benefit to Plymouth’s entire community as it would allow them to visit the historical site. That said, depending on whether costs turned out to be higher than anticipated, knowing how and when to apply for a grant to support the funding further is a great tool to have.

In a blog post over at Crossdreamers.com I discuss the way our different mental maps and narratives makes it easy for some transgender people to understand each other.

There does not have to be a conflict between a biological approach to sex and gender, and one that focuses on social and cultural factors. 

Nevertheless, prioritizing one over the other may stop you from seeing the interconnection connection between body and mind and the feedback loops between biology, psychology and culture.

For example: It makes sense to distinguish between gender (culture) and biological sex (biology) analytically, but that does not mean that experienced gender has nothing to do with biology.
