"Aredhel the White was younger in the years of the Eldar than her brothers; and when she was grown to full stature and beauty she was tall and strong, and loved to ride and hunt in the forests. There she was often in the company of the sons of Feanor, her kin; but to none was her heart's love given. Ar-Feiniel she was called, the White Lady of the Noldor, for she was pale, though her hair was dark, and she was never arrayed but in silver and white."
—The Silmarillion, Of Eldamar and the Princes of the Eldalie

I actually made two palette versions and can’t decide which I like better: above is “sunset” (more dramatic), and below is “twilight” (softer).

After doing a few quite illustrative, stylised paintings recently I think I may move back towards doing some realism for a bit
I’ve never really enjoyed sticking with one style of painting for too long - it’s more fun to switch around between stylised, realism and painterly imho :)

I don’t particularly care about Aredhel/Celegorm as a romantic relationship but Aredhel looking like a female Finwe and Celegorm looking like a male miriel just has something wonderfully torturous to it. On the other hand, Fingon looking like Finwe and Maedhros looking like a male red haired miriel with an eerily similar personality.
Safe to say Feanor, Finwe, Indis etc are very unnerved in either scenario

"'You shall be my guide, and I will be your guard!'" (Of Maeglin, The Silmarillion)
"[Eol] seized the javelin that he held hid beneath his cloak and cast it at Maeglin...But Aredhel sprang before the dart, and it smote her in the shoulder...and in the night she died; for the point of the javelin was poisoned" (Of Maeglin, The Silmarillion).
Maeglin wants to protect his mother, but in the end, she dies protecting him.

Aredhel Ar-Feiniel, the White Lady of the Noldor! You have to respect a badass good girl! She's the one who rode with Celegorm and Curufin, crossed the Helcaraxe, told Turgon "I'm gonna go where I want and you can't stop me!", ditched 3 of the most skilled lords in a dark forest, managed to cross said dark forest without a scratch and then got hitched. And she took a javelin to the shoulder and would have shrugged it off.

"But Eöl was (…) a tall Elf of a high kin of the Teleri, noble though grim of face; and his eyes could see deep into shadows and dark places. And it came to pass that he saw Aredhel Ar-Feiniel as she strayed among the tall trees near the borders of Nan Elmoth, a gleam of white in the dim land. Very fair she seemed to him, and he desired her."
J. R. R. Tolkien, The Silmarillion

---
Aquilegia: the Aquilegia flower symbolizes aspiration, endurance, ascension, risk-taking, good fortune, faith, and peace and comes from the Latin word Aquila meaning eagle.
Blue: blue is a color of open space and therefore can symbolize freedom, intuition, imagination, inspiration, and understanding.
White: white often symbolizes perfection, the good, honesty, a beginning, the new, neutrality, and exactitude.
Happy Birthday Professor!!

And Aredhel bore to Eöl a son in the shadows of Nan Elmoth, and in her heart she gave him a name in the forbidden tongue of the Noldor, Lómion, that signifies Child of the Twilight.
