En 2022, por fin, terminé de ver “Six Feet Under”, y hay una escena que aún me retumba en la cabeza y que me plantó una idea que de la que no puedo deshacerme cada vez que hay algún momento de luz.
Claire, la joven artista de la familia Fisher, decide irse a New York. Antes de su viaje, toma su cámara para retratar a su familia. Nate, su hermano mayor —ya muerto —, se aparece a su espalda y le dice: “You can’t take a picture of this, it’s already gone”.
Sin duda, he tenido muchos momentos felices en mi vida. Esa tarde de agosto de 2018, lunes festivo, en la que recorrimos la alameda de Cali y escuchamos canciones en un sitio abierto, con una tranquilidad acorde a la brisa que nos alcanzaba a llegar. Cuando mi madre cumplió 60 y nos organizamos para celebrar su merecida fiesta. Los 40 de Yeimy, mi hermana, y su llegada de sorpresa al sitio donde lo celebramos. El día que fui al Verjón y solo podía pensar en mi cuerpo y su esfuerzo por mover la bicicleta. Las tardes de ese noviembre de 2019 en las que recorrí Medellín acompañado por la música de Lolabúm y ese clima templado que tanto bien le hacía a mi cuerpo.
El día que vimos a Caterine Ibagüen ganar el oro en Río 2016. La noche estrellada en el desierto de la Tatacoa.
Pero esos momentos ya no están; desaparecieron tan rápido como los estaba viviendo. Y esa volatilidad del tiempo me agobia ahora (o tal vez me agobiaba siempre). Las tristezas pasan, sí, y el tiempo las cura. Pero también pasan rápido esos momentos de tranquilidad. Poco sentido le veo a vivir una vida que agota sus mejores momentos tan rápido, y siento envidia de todos los que sonríen sin importar que eso que les da alegría se convierte en pasado justo en esos instantes.

This review from Pitchfork brought me to tears, here’s a passage from David Moore’s 2004 review on Funeral- Arcade Fire.
“So long as we're unable or unwilling to fully recognize the healing aspect of embracing honest emotion in popular music, we will always approach the sincerity of an album like Funeral from a clinical distance. Still, that it's so easy to embrace this album's operatic proclamation of love and redemption speaks to the scope of The Arcade Fire's vision. It's taken perhaps too long for us to reach this point where an album is at last capable of completely and successfully restoring the tainted phrase "emotional" to its true origin. Dissecting how we got here now seems unimportant. It's simply comforting to know that we finally have arrived.”
almost 2 decades has passed, the situation is not getting better. Pretending to not feel, or simply not feeling, becomes a phenomenon, and not a new one.
