Teen Mom fans have been left in tears after Catelynn Lowell hints at a broken relationship with her mother in a new emotional post.
The MTV star shared the post, which was simply captioned: "Damn...," to her Instagram account on Saturday.
Catelynn, 31, added the hashtag: "somedaysarehard."
The post read: "My heart goes out to every girl who's [sic] mother isn't their very best friend, as they should be. My heart goes out to every girl who tries to have a healthy relationship with their mother, but can't.
It continued: "My heart aches for any girl who wishes more than anything they could have a loving relationship with their mother, but no matter how much they try it just doesn't work.
The social media post concluded: "It's difficult to understand how traumatic a toxic relationship between mother and daughter truly is.
"My heart aches for anyone who's [sic] been unlucky enough to say they understand."
In the comment section, one person wrote: "This hits home but comforting knowing I am not alone with this."
Another fan commented: "The best gift that I ever gave to myself was going no contact. It sucks but it saved me."
The TV personality has endured a troubled relationship with her mother, April Brockmiller, who has a history of drug abuse.
Their up-and-down relationship was documented on Teen Mom throughout its many seasons.
Viewers watched as the mother-of-four forgave her mother multiple times.
The reality TV star has a different kind of relationship with her father.
In September 2021, Catelynn allowed David to take her daughter Novalee on a fishing trip.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW: CATELYNN BALTIERRA
Cue 2009 and 16 & Pregnant coming to our TV screens featuring a pregnant 16 year old from Michigan: Catelynn Lowell. Cate was dating her middle school sweetheart Tyler Baltierra and when we met them at 16 weeks pregnant they were already discussing adoption. You see, neither Cate or Ty were in the most ideal situations with Tyler’s dad Butch using drugs and constantly in and out of jail and Catelynn’s mother April an unstable alcoholic.
Nowadays, things are a lot different for the couple, and we have seen them go through a lot on Teen Mom and Teen Mom OG. We have seen the couple struggle with the adoption of their first daughter Carolyn (Carly), born in 2009, who they technically have an open arrangement with and are supposed to meet every year (although as we’ve seen that doesn’t always end up being the case). Tyler proposed to Catelynn in 2012 and then again in 2015 just before the couple welcomes their daughter, NovaLee (Nova). Later in 2015, the couple released a book: Conquering Chaos, and went on to get married that August. During this time, the couple was also working on the development and launch of their children’s clothing line: Tierra Reign.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, Catelynn was also struggling with severe postpartum depression, on top of some depression and anxiety she had already been dealing with. In 2016, Catelynn suffered from a miscarriage, and shortly after she entered short-term residential treatment. Shortly after coming home, she went back for a second short stay. At the beginning of this year, Catelynn announced a third stay in treatment, shortly before Tyler’s 26th birthday.
The couple have now been married for a little over three years and are currently expecting a child. As now-26 year old Catelynn says, "It was a huge shock at first. We were not planning it, especially after the miscarriage and how I went downhill with my mental illness...We were going to wait a really long time. We were using protection and everything and still got pregnant. This baby just wanted to be here. It was very unexpected. This baby is our rainbow after the storm. I'm super excited.”
IN MY OPINION, CATELYNN AND TYLER HAVE HAD ONE OF (IF NOT THE MOST) EMOTIONAL STORY LINES OF THE ENTIRE FRANCHISE.

Catelynn Lowell spoke about being sexually abused as a child for the first time on camera during the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter reunion.
MTV viewers watched this past season as Catelynn’s husband, Tyler Baltierra, unpacked his own childhood sexual abuse in intensive therapy sessions.
"I was holding on to a lot of guilt and shame,” Tyler, 31, told hosts Dr. Drew Pinsky and Nessa in the solemn reunion sit-down, which aired Wednesday, October 11. He explained that being molested as a child “created this hypersexuality” in him as a teen, which then led to a series of other traumas: namely, he and Catelynn, also 31, getting pregnant at 17 and placing daughter Carly for adoption.
“A big thing for me was letting that go,” Tyler said. “It’s not the kid’s fault.”
When Catelynn noted that there is a stigma surrounding men speaking out about past sexual trauma, Dr. Drew asked her if she was abused as a child as well. Catelynn confirmed that she was.
“[I was] probably like, 7 or 8 [years old],” she said. “That’s the first time [I] ever [said] it on camera. I’m 31 and I … never told my parents about it until recently. [I told my dad] and my mom.”
Catelynn has long had a rocky relationship with her mom, April, which has played out on camera since her episode of 16 and Pregnant in 2009.
When Dr. Drew suggested that her recent revelation could be a factor in her mom’s reason for drinking again, Catelynn immediately shut the theory down, explaining that her mom’s response was nothing but callous and cruel.
“No, her response to me was — she said that I sounded dumb as f—k,” Catelynn shared, which Tyler reiterated. “And then she called me on the phone and she was wasted.”
Catelynn added that her mom even “got a tattoo of the word ‘toxic’ on her body for me, because I call her toxic.”
Catelynn and Tyler — who are parents of Nova, 8, Vaeda, 4, and Rya, 2 — have been together since middle school and tied the knot in 2015. In a September episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Tyler praised his wife in a letter to his younger self as part of a therapy exercise.
"There will come a time in your life when that pain is so excruciating that the only remedy for the unbearable suffering you’re feeling is to die,” Tyler read out loud to Catelynn, reflecting on his own childhood sexual abuse. “I’m here to tell you that you will survive for a reason, and that reason has a name. It’s Cate.”
He continued: “You will meet the most purest example of love that you’ve ever felt or witnessed in your life because of her. She will show you how you truly are worthy of love. She’ll prove to you why you weren’t supposed to die that day. You will fall madly in love and that love will result in the other reason you survived, and that’s to be a father, to bring four beautiful children into the world, to give those children the father you never had, and by giving them that you will break so many generational traumas.”
